Rate this book

4.5/5 stars! This self-improvement book stands out from any other I’ve read, it was incredibly thoughtful and motivational. The author has such a remarkable story - reading about her journey alone was quite inspiring (especially as a woman in martial arts). Would definitely re-read and take more time to follow the thought exercises/journal prompts.

I still haven't finished reading this book, and I’m not super far into it; but, so far, so good. The author shares stories from her life, making you believe her words even more – like you feel as though, she means what she says, because of what she's been through. I look forward to finishing it.

This book - Seven Steps to Inner Power -seemed intriguing to me from the moment I saw its cover because it presents self-help ideas from a different perspective - that of a female martial arts master. I was lucky enough to win an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I think this book is worthwhile for any gender. I liked how the author, Tae Yun Kim, tells her readers to be practical. That does not mean to give up or not try, and one of her examples really hit home with me - tat of a person saying he could not save for a new home because there wasn't enough money to save any while he maintained a liberal cash-flow lifestyle. The section which seemed most powerful to me has the pages discussing resentment. Vital advice here!!

If I'd read this book ten years ago, it would have landed a solid 5-stars. As is, I teetered on the edge of it because it's such a great reminder of a ton of self-improvement practices, methods, approaches, outlooks, and thinking processes I've read about, use(d), and heard of since I first really became interested in the idea of changing me to change my life instead of the other way around.

If you've read a ton of self-help stuff, this book is worth reading since it combines and reinterprets so many useful and effective elements in one book . If you haven't, this book is worth reading since it's almost entirely pragmatic, useful, and applicable without the "yes, but how?" that plagues many self-improvement books.
