This novel has absolutely bewitched me. I had zero expectations going in because 1) I usually avoid A/B/O and mpreg tags I’ll add something about this at the end in case it’s a spoiler and 2) I thought it was going to be somewhat unserious I was quite wrong here. I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun yet also experienced such a wide range of emotions- happiness, excitement, amusement, comfort, pain, fear, anger, anxiety, sadness,etc. Something about this novel just hit(for me) in every possible way and I don’t think I can explain why.
CHARACTERS:
Rimbaud: omega, fierce, dominant, feisty, loyal, beautiful and passionate
Bai Chunian: alpha- adoring, indulging, ”whipped”, beyond infatuated, vulnerable, clingy, smart and loved/feared by many, bebe just wants a home and family 🥹
*Both are possessive, jealous, obsessed, completely and totally in love, self-sacrificing, strong, powerful, indulgent, and SO PROUD of each other
*I might come back and list every single one of my favorite characters because there are SO many and they all deserve recognition
TROPES/TAGS/WHAT TO EXPECT
🦁 A/B/O but not a beta in sight. Also very little mpreg if that is something you don’t like (or do!) Omegas are valued and often considered equal (there are multiple strong/powerful omegas)
🦁 Modern supernatural sci-fi (not interstellar)
🦁 Interconnected dark and tragic pasts for the CP
🦁 Experimental subjects, animals characteristics with abilities. This is so interesting but also has some things that will make you very sad
🦁 Multiple CP’s and lots of time with each- most even get their own extra which I loved
🦁 Found family and amazing characters throughout. The side characters are everything in this novel. Your heart will get broken though. There is a dazzling amount of characters but each ability is unique is pretty easy to keep up with. Pay attention to all characters because the author doesn’t do NPC-almost all have an important role. I would say the characters are my favorite thing about this novel but I also adore the romance, humor, world building, and plot!

🦁 A gorgeous manhua- I definitely recommend reading simultaneously
🦁 A prequel called Lop Eared Guard
🦁 OP CP. You will have to be okay with dismissing some plot conveniences and accept some OP behavior. Occasional deus ex machina and plot armor

🧜🏼♂️Rimbaud and Bai Chunian’s relationship is the star of this novel. The way they comfort each other. Their past as it’s revealed will make your heart ache. The way they grow together and learn to navigate their relationship is just so endearing. I have very limited experienced with A/B/O so I don’t know how often this happens but the nature of their relatioshiop is very much omega thinks he’s the alpha. Love the openness between them.
🧜🏼♂️I thought they were going to be toxic from some comments but that is not how I saw them HOWEVER-they do hurt each other so much (physically) and it’s not how it sounds lol
🧜🏼♂️Rimbaud’s mer language. The author did an excellent job here!
🧜🏼♂️Don’t judge the ML/MC by the first arc because there’s so much beneath the surface

I immensely enjoyed it from beginning to end- not getting bored once and always looking forward to when I could pick it up to read. The beginning felt very unlimited flow/escape room-ish which is not my favorite but that is not the tone of the novel.

This book is delightful, tragic, action-packed, comedic, and romance-filled with a large cast of intriguing characters with abilities and found family.

🐰Bi Lanxing/Lu Yan and and Han Xingqian/Xiao Xun’s relationships were so freaking adorable. I can’t remember the last time I read a novel with so many CP’s. I was a little sad/confused about a few of BCN’s students that I thought were going to pair up but didn’t
🐰I still cry when I think about Patissier. It just broke my heart. He just wanted to open a pastry shop 🥹
🐰Pearl 😭😭😭
🐰BCN was considered already so beautiful the only thing Venus could think to gift himself with was enviable sexual ability 🤭
🐰Not a fan of the warden and was a little confused about Black Panther
🐰About the A/B/O … lots of pheromones stuff but I’m not sure since I don’t typically read this genre but it felt really different? There is a pregnancy but it’s in the past only and it’s quite tragic

Nhân ngư hãm lạc
Đọc vì manhua vẽ quá đẹp, nhưng thú thật thì đoạn sau tác giả có hơi đuối, love line khá xoắn, nhưng chắc vì mình đọc cv nên nhiều chi tiết mình không hiểu cho lắm (Đặc biệt cái vụ trong nhà hình hộp trên núi đó) khiến truyện mất hay đi.
Sau này đợi có bản edit thuần Việt rảnh thì mình sẽ đọc lại vậy.

I loved this so much! I have a thing for books on mystical beasts so this was a dream for me lol. it's such a beautiful story, I enjoyed the world building and the character growth. The side characters are so well fleshed out as well, which is a rare thing to come accross in this type of novels.
I kind of dragged out my reading because I didn't want to finish. I cried, laughed and blushed (lol) so much.
My only complain is that I kind of wished they had an extra with Pearl or something.
The translation is ok, I am thankful it was done so we can read the story.

Novel is about an ABO world, slightly futuristic, where aside from the standard ABO and the inequality that stems from it, there is also experimental beings that were created to be weapons or other tools. MC and ML both spent time in the research institution, which was where the MC grew up as an experimental subject. They now meet again after a few yrs of separation, and we follow them on a journey as they reconnect and uncover some of the complex politics and scheming that is occurring.
Novel itself is well-paced and has well-conceived plots, with some easter egg references here and there. Characterization is done well- everyone has a story and motivation and are very real. Not all of them will be likeable, but many are similar to normal people that we see and interact with (but more powerful and better looking ofc XD).

Изначально меня привлекла маньхуа по данному произведению. Загадочный красивый русал, парень с ушками белого льва, их общее прошлое.
Перевод на английском читала до 90 главы (на тот момент больше не было переведено), и история до такой степени захватила, что я сразу же пошла читать с гугловской помощью китайский оригинал. Это было ужасно, в половине случаев ты не понимаешь кто что и про кого говорит, т.к. местоимения часто не те. Жутко ломанный перевод, многое не поняла из-за этого. Но желание узнать что произошло и будет дальше было сильнее, поэтому сцепив зубы приходилось страдать.
История повествует о двух персонажах: короле океанов-омеге и молодом белом льве-альфе. Происходящее будет идти не только от лица наших героев, но и других второстепенных персонажей.
Скажу сразу, что внешность русала очень обманчива на первый взгляд. Он не хрупкий цветочек, а властный и временами жестокий правитель. В то время как лев в душе милый пушистый котёнок. Хоть на вид ему лет 17-18, на деле он родился только 4 года назад в лаборатории, занимающейся исследованиями и созданием зверо-людей со способностями. Он временами наивный, любит людей, хочет верить в лучшее.
Сюжет до конца книги был относительно ровным, у героев были миссии, они спасали подопытных из лабораторий, сражались с врагами + мелькала семейная жизнь русала и льва на суше. Прошлое постепенно открывалось, что приносило немного драмы. А вот последние глав 10-20 пошла жара. Это напомнило корейцев, у которых фильм с комедии может резко перейти в драму и ужасы. В конце истории присутствовали элементы хоррора, сапсенса, ангст, смерть персонажей и только потом уже ХЭ.
Единственное, что смущало во всей истории это какой-то пафос и Марти-сьюшность русала. Огроменные базуки, эпические прыжки, эффектное появление великого нагибатора, спасение своего альфы. Я словно блокбастер смотрела, что дико не люблю как раз из-з�� этого пафоса.

OMG!!! I LOVE THIS STORY SO MUCH! I just can’t with how this story just grips me so much and hooked me from the very beginning to the very end, like they are just so cute, like all of them, but also their past experience are also so tragic and sad, i was so glad to know that the pearl survive tho I really want to see them together again but sadly we didn’t get that, I also love the relationship between xiao bai and Yan Yi family and it’s just so nice to see them as one big family, tho I wish we would have more bonding time with each other but anyway this is just so good, i also love all the side characters and all the cute side couples, like they are just all so cute, and all of them mostly got their own happy endings, but i just wish that there were more brother bonding and family bonding time, and i also want them to meet their child, like that would just be so cute but we didn’t get that 😭 but anyway this story was just so good

First off, I didn't know how long this actually was until about halfway through. Being over 1000 pages, you definitely felt it. It is extremely long and could have cut back a lot at times. The translation was good, but some parts didnt make sense. I'm not sure if it was the author or if it was just how it was translated. It is a good read, but at times, I almost felt forced to continue reading just to be done with it. I do love the ml and mc, and what they go through at times was heartbreaking. I do recommend this book, but it will take a while to finish, and the ending just happens. Everything is wrapped up, but it just kinda ends out of nowhere. Even the extras. I would give 5 stars but feel it lost one for being dragged out, and translation sometimes didn't make sense. But do give it a chance there great mc and ml.

DNF at chapter 165
I feel so bad giving this novel such a low rating because I really like the main couple (and the side couples too). They're both so devoted to each other and I love how possessive Rimbaud is, carving his name on Bai Chunian's stomach and arm.
Buuut I'm so bored. There's so little romance (and not in a slow burn way, because the couple is already together), and the plot is too fast and confusing to me. Too many things happening one after the other, and too many fighting scenes. Someone who likes action books will probably like this, but it's still so long and I'm so tired of fighting scenes
