She has her sights on becoming president of Dexter Petroleum. He seeks justice for his sister’s murder.
Rebelling against the plans and life her patriarchal father has for her, Izonbou Diete Spiff treats the growing attraction between herself and Dexter’s head of IT for what it is, an itch that needs to be scratched.
Rasheed Adams can’t stop thinking about the woman he met at Dexter’s garage. It doesn’t help that he has stared long and hard at her image in magazines or that he has joked with his twin sister, Rasheeda, about her being his crush, but way out of his league.
When an invitation drops on his lap for an all-expense-paid trip to the Twin Bliss Resort, he sees this as an opportunity to heal old wounds and begin something new with the woman he’d always crushed on.
As clean-easy as both their plans are, looks linger, touches burn, and a shocking discovery not only threatens their best-laid plans but shakes them to their core.
Timi Waters is a West African writer. Her love for psychology and thought-provoking books led her into asking questions, finding answers, and asking more questions.
While Haven is her first published work, Timi has written and published short stories which featured in international bestselling anthologies. Her eBooks, The Red Lines Trilogy topped OkadaBooks and Bambooks bestseller charts for weeks.
When Timi is not writing, she’s poring over non-fiction and psychological thrillers, hosting tea parties with her characters, and lip-syncing to Nicki Minaj and Eminem’s rap.
“I can’t help but wonder if she told someone or if she, like Rasheeda, starved her need until she inflamed herself with it.”
Pleasure tells the story of three people—Izonbou, Rasheed, a Villain who I flipping didn’t see coming—and that of Rasheeda, Rasheed’s deceased twin sister.
The story begins with the villain’s POV, a scene I must state honestly is as gory as they come and introduces us to Izonbou, an overly ambitious kick-ass boss chick who wants nothing more than to sit on the throne of Dexter Petroleum and Rasheed, the man of my dreams, who only wants to see that his sister gets justice.
Since this our country doesn’t have a justice system, Rasheed decides to solve his sister’s murder on his own. He soon learns that in this Nigeria, you can only seek, but you shall never find. Unless you have connections, or you are the child of a politician/billionaire.
Pleasure, told from the three character’s POV raises themes such as sexual and lifestyle choices, Bondage & Domination kinks, love of money, femicide, and the ultimate power of forgiveness.
I loved the chemistry between Izonbou and Rasheed. I loved how they set boundaries earlier on in their relationships.
Rasheed’s intensity when he asked her “Are we a thing or a fling” gets me in my feelings! 🤩🤩🤩🤩
Izonbou’s fiercely telling him “You’re not allowed to cheat on me” is OMG, hot! 🤩🤩🤩
The suspense was mad, the steam was sizzling, and WHAT? That ending!!!!!!
I recommend you read this with your bookish bestie as both of you are bound to have a swell time gisting. The plot is that deep.
What I would have loved to see was a little extension, kinda like an epilogue of the couple meeting the parents and all the drama that might ensue. Or not? 🤪😆
Whew!!, I really need to exhale after inhaling so much from Pleasure. What!, I knew I was in for a roller coaster with this as with all of Timi's other books.
Please this book is an Amber Alert, if you are not ready for your heart to race and do some somersaults, don't go near😊😊.
Timi WATERS is a queen of dark romance and that is what this book represents and more, suspense at its very best. The characters were written with precision. The female protagonist, Izonbou, Izzy babe, like I would like to refer to her was as fiesty as they come. I loved that what she sets out to get must be gotten. Oh my Rasheed,I'm happy he got the answers he sought, sometimes things are not always what we think they are. It's sometimes, the more you look, the less you see. Another character, I can't wait for you to experience are Chief and 'Father', e get why, Chai!😲😲
Since it's an ARC i read, I don't want to leave any spoilers, but PLEASURE would surely leave you at the edge of your seat. This is my honest review😁 Take all of my 5 stars Timi🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
“There’s a villain in you and me. It is what shapes us, hones our consciences, teeters us between the pearly side of Heaven and the cold mist of Hell. I’ve decided a long time ago to stay on the virtuous side of life. Still, I keep a spear coat in vices’ closet. And on days when Heaven grows stale, I reach for it.”
•A serial killer on the loose •An ambitious sister aiming for a sit at the table •A demon in disguise •A holiday fling •A poisonous desire
Summary: The Adams and the Dexters finds themselves entangled even though they are status apart. The ambitious Izzy always shooting her shot and going for what she wants goes on a work trip with Rasheed Adams and that sets the mood for love to brew. Rasheed Adams, still investigating the death of his twin sister using her journal still has no clue who the “killer” is. The quest for pleasure and satisfaction leads to the acid killing and this desire destroys lives and families. Will justice prevail and love find its way back?
The plot, the twist, the suspense…. Wowwww, words have failed me, But one thing I know is that this is a Masterpiece!! Mind-blowing A romantic thriller
I highly recommend this book but don’t ignore this👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼: Trigger warning ⚠️: Sexual Violence (for only the brave)
A big thanks to the author for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
“We may not enjoy sex like everyone else, but we should embrace who we are!” She gasped a feral hunger when he roughly hauled her to him. “We’re two special, passionate beasts with a hunger that matches each other. Stop trying to hold us back.”
Start reading black romance, especially those set in Nigeria and written by Nigerians. This particular author is into dark romance and does it so perfectly. Jump into scenes of temptations, death, sex and erotic offerings. You won't regret it.
The first thing that got me in this book was the prologue 🤣🤣. You know how much I love a well-written prologue. (I love prologues)
And then the style of writing, how freely the author was with words and she crafted every dialogue so beautifully that reading it was like listening to everyday conversations.
When I got my ARC copy, I wasn't expecting less from the author because I've read all her works (hope I'm right 🤣). However, this one? Ha!
U can only describe it with two words;
Super, spectacular.
This is the kind of adrenaline-pumping thriller you would love to read, and with a touch of romance, a huge dose of spicy (erotic) scenes... You don't want to miss this one.
The plot twists and unexpected turns this story took were unpredictable but amazing. Who doesn't like a good surprise while reading?
I don't want to give much away if not, I would have dived into this story and reviewed it page by page 😆 but I tell you, this is one story you don't want to miss if you are a sucker for romantic thrillers. (And you don't mind having you heart in your mouth while reading. You understand?)
When Timi Waters writes, it's always a banger 💣, boom!
Thank you so much, gurl, and congratulations to you.
Two things in life motivate you The fear of pain and the desire for pleasure Pleasure by Timi Waters starts with the villain's pov, his Sexual exploitation, his gruesome ways, and his desire to find pleasure in the pains of his victims, and moving forward Izonbou a boss Lady, who will do anything to be president of Dexter Petroleum, a lady who is ready to stand against her brother Nengi to see to it that she is the rightful person to succeed Dexter, she will never allow anything get in her way, not even Love. Rasheed is a young man who is determined to get justice for the death of his twin Sister, Rasheeda. Mr Villian soon met his end, in his desire to get more pleasure out of his victim's pains Izonbou, in her desire to be President, fell in love and found pleasure in being with this young man, the fact that she was in love, that desire to own Dexter never quenched it blossomed until she got it after the death of her father chief, who we later discovered was the mysterious villain who derived pleasure from his victim's pains, and he was Rasheeda's killer. This is indeed crazy Poor Rasheed, his sister was killed by the father of the woman he loves, crazy right? But love found a way I enjoyed reading pleasure, " The mystery ~ I kept on Wondering who the hell the villain is The plot is out of this world😂😂
Before I finished the book I was already rating it a five⭐ in my mind Ps This book contains scenes of sexual violence.
While editing this book my mouth stayed open with the twists and turns. This book can be triggering for some and as stated on Instagram, this book isn't for everyone.
Izonbou is sure of herself and is unapologetic about expressing herself sexually. While Rasheed, understands his place in the relationship and is mostly supportive.
The suspense is 100% because I did not see that coming. I seriously didn't want it to end💓
At the end, I said Timi Waters is a good writer. I loved the suspense, the thrill of finding out who the villain is and the whole plot twist at the end got me gagging. Not a big fan of smut but i loved that I could read the whole story without reading the smut part and still enjoy the book which shows the book has essence. PS: Timi waters is who she thinks she is. She’s nice and has a beautiful voice. Thank you for the gift. 🤗❤️
