Mark Henry , ThB, DD, is Lead Pastor of Revive Church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. He is known for calling people to do one thing: Passionately Pursue Jesus Christ. He started and/or developed four thriving churches in America. Globally, Mark has shared the Gospel with over five million people, helped train over 50,000 pastors in expository preaching, and partnered to establish over 100 churches in Africa. He also leads Mark Henry Ministries. He is a graduate of New Tribes Bible Institute and Peniel Baptist Seminary. Mark and his wife, Jera, have been married for over 30 years and raised three children who are, along with their families, living for Jesus.
Solid, practical, biblical truth that if lived out would bless families and prevent a lot of heartache. A wonderful legacy for the next generations to carry on.
Mark writes a not bad book about being a man. And I mean that... It's not good, but it's not bad, either. One weird point is that he makes clear early on that the characteristics he gives for manhood are not exclusive to men. And then he points out women can be protectors. But then he says men are the only protectors and women are weak and need someone to look out for them. Which is it, Mark?
Outstanding book. Pastor Mark Henry is an excellent author and communicator. This book was thought out for many years as he raised his children, but particularly his daughter. He raised her to know how to find a godly man when she married, and we read about it in print. Pastor Mark taught his sons to be godly men who could instill these values in their children as well. This book is not only for men, young and old, to know how to be the godly man they were created by God to be, but also how to become one if they are not. This book is also for women of all ages, from teenager to grandma, to help in finding a godly man, whether for yourself, your daughter or granddaughter. Don’t be fooled by the title as a woman. I’m married, but still bought it and thoroughly enjoyed it.
I follow Mark Henry on his YouTube Channel and was so anxious to read his book that I paid FULL PRICE. (Unheard of for me. 😉😄)
It's about time someone ASKED and ANSWERED the question, "What is a man?". Born out of conversations between Mark and his daughter on how to go about choosing a good husband. I recommend it to Men, Women AND parents trying to figure out how to discuss these things with their children.
A very RELEVANT book these days.
Check back for my full review later when I'm done, but I'm in no rush because I am pondering what Pastor Mark is saying as I go along.
