Some of us are meant to grow old disgracefully but morality is very much our own choice.

Patience a dark haired fast greying woman. No longer the young, nimble, and striking girl she had once been. Yet, she was still able to turn heads. Beauty such as hers did not diminish, as it had never been purely skin deep.
Finding herself suddenly thrown into a position of unyielding terror. Followed closely by an unyielding love, one she had never known in all her years. Patience has a tough choice. Which would she give into?

When everything you have ever known and believed in, suddenly becomes fiction, and the fiction you had only seen in cinemas becomes fact.

How would you stop the terror?

Patience is not only alone again, ostracised. And critised, but her life has been turned upside down, into a nightmare or maybe a dream.

Because he is what dreams are made of.

Patience is left fighting for her life, with not only hers at stake...Talan.

Should she allow life, to take her over or grab on with both hands and over take it?

The decision is only hers.

Listening, an attribute we all seem to have forgotten.
Because in listening, what would we hear? That we are not alone in what is our life?

That Blue aliens exist.

And we are all fighting for the same things, to live, love, and find romance with our fated mates.

Science fiction romance is on the cards. For life worn experienced females and protective, alpha males who want to love uncontrollably.

Epic beginning for these fated mates, alien and human alike.

First contact on an epic scale, with some laughs and tears along the way, to each finding what destiny has in store for them.

Loving as hard as they can, with no holding back.

A fated mate story from beyond the stars.
What if your fated mate wasn’t for Earth? Patience never found Mr. Right on Earth. She’s mature, single and yet still fit, adventurous and active.
One evening she finds herself pursued and attacked but it isn’t a “man” who comes to save her. It’s a big blue alien who takes her with him. On recovery from the attack she finds herself in the middle of a conflict between alien races. At first she tries to find a way back to Earth, but realizes there isn’t anything there for her. Here, she has the affections of big, blue Talan and soon enough recognizes that there’s a bond between them. She must listen to her heart to figure out where her future lies.

It’s a beautiful story with an ending that truly fits the responses an older woman might make. At first I was surprised, but then I agreed. Great and entertaining characters, I wonder if they (Talan and Patience will be in any of the forthcoming Chronicles of the Araceli.

You’re never too old to be young.

I don’t usually read this genre-fantasy romance. But, I was pleasantly surprised by this engaging tale with its bevy of characters. What struck me was the weaving of societal norms, expectations, the moral compass and how one deals with them. We’re never REALLY alone are we Patience?!

An intriguing book that kept me turning the pages to find out what happened. It has a well-developed plot that brings together inhabitants of different worlds to form a bond that develops into romance. I enjoyed the tension between Patience and Talon, and it was a refreshing change that Patience was an older woman. Enjoyable, and being the first book in a series, others to explore.

Sexy blue alien, what more could you want

I would have liked to give this book more stars, as I really enjoyed the characters and the story line. Am I going to read the next book of the serie? Absolutely!
There was some editing that needed to be done, which I'm ok with, my biggest concern is that at times it was hard to know who said what, occasionally had to read a sentence a few times to work it out. Also the changing of one persons perspective to another was hard to distinguish and jumped from 1 person to another over a few sentences. These are all easy fixable, and with everything else the story had to offer, isn't a big deal to me. I do hope the next book continues with the 2 main characters, I really liked them and want to see them get there HEA.

Patience took stock of her life, rembered her mistakes, never to make the same again. Heading home, she ventured into a dark alley after hearing a scream. Big mistake, she was now the victim and her courage would be downfall. She woke in a dark cell, whereabouts unknown, fear engulfed her. Where was she?
The first of a 4 part series, this story brings together inhabitants of different world to form a strong alliance and a bond that develops into a romantic relationship. Unusual that the main character is a more senior woman but a great story that gives a sound basis for building the series upon. An interesting and creative plot which grabs your attention from the start and throughout. Enjoyed!

I read this really quickly and really enjoyed it. I think it's best not to spoil this but I love Patience and Talan, was nice reading about an older woman in a book for once. Patience is very strong and capable, she is used to looking after herself and Talan is not from this world, so an adventure begins

Patience is a strong willed woman and is sick and tired of life and the people in it. Let down by friends and abused by past lovers, shes over it. On her way home from a night out she comes across a commotion in the dark, one thing leads to another and she finds herself taken.
This was a sweet human/alien love story, and i enjoyed the build up between and Talan towards the ending. It's left open for the next book where we will hopefully find out if patience is ready to give in and embrace her new life.

(I reviewed this a while back but only my rating showed not my review, so copied over from amazon as it deserves reviewing)

An Avatar meets the Millennial Falcon Science Fiction Romance

As I read my imagination drew parallels between this story and the Avatar story but in reverse. The male hero/anti-hero was ‘alien’ (and blue!) whereas the heroine was from Earth (and at least middle-aged). However, the bulk of the story takes place aboard a spacecraft, Araceli (series name) with a small diverse crew of rebels. All we learn in this first book of the series is they are rebelling against the ‘corporation’.

This was an engaging story of discovery and dangerous adventures, exhibiting character growth throughout. The author created moral conflicts for the wide cast of characters who wrestled with those ‘grey’ areas of right versus wrong. Well, some wrestled. Others were decidedly comfortable with whatever wrongs they committed.

The reader may find themselves grappling not with the moral choices but with the word choices, grammar, and sentence structure. Often a period may be placed where a comma is expected. Of course, authors may use fragments of sentences for emphasis, but this happened frequently and without (as far as I could discern) any point. It is my assumption that English may not be the author’s first language as that would explain the writing ‘style’. Without this need for editing my rating would have been higher based on the storytelling.

This is an enemy-to-lover romance trope that includes adult language and situations.

I love a strong heroine, and Josephine Wrightson delivers a gripping, layered story about Patience, an older woman abducted by aliens and thrust into a terrifying new reality.
Patience doesn’t rely on youth or naivety to define her worth. Even as she grapples with fear and uncertainty, her quick wits, resilience, and growing bond with the mysterious blue alien Talan pull her through. Their chemistry leaps off the page, and the slow-burn tension between them is irresistible.
I savoured this book as my bedtime reading, caught up in the action, intrigue, and the surprising, tender romance. Thrilling plot twists, richly developed characters, and vivid scenes perfectly captured the wisdom and emotional depth of a woman making a life-changing choice.
If you seek a dark romantic fantasy filled with action, heart, and hope, Listen is a mesmerizing tale that proves love and courage know no age limits. I loved this heart-pounding adventure beyond the stars!

This newly edited book is the first in The Chronicles of Araceli series by Josephine Wrightson. It is the story of a romance between a more mature human woman and a space alien, which begins when Patience is abducted from the streets of earth by Talan, a blue Andelean, and his crew on a mission for The Corporation. Araceli is the name of their space shuttle and also the humanoid robot who is the technical expert on the shuttle and is proficient in almost everything. Patience finds herself falling in love with Talan and he realizes she is his mate and he loves her but both are loath to admit it to each other. They undertake a mission together and danger is involved. This is the first space alien romance book I have read and wasn't sure what to expect but discovered that I love the premise and plot of this book.

The plot and characters were well developed, yet it took me a while to adapt to the author’s writing style with curious fractioned sentence structures.

The story is written from many POVs enabling the reader to follow each person’s inner thoughts and feelings which is a good thing – even though head-hopping does occur.

At times, the present tense slipped into the story which was told in the past, but putting all this aside, we follow Patience who has so much going on in her life, what with humans and non-humans, that you need to keep turning those pages to find out what happens.

Excellent Story!

Josephine Wrightson is a true creator of Worlds. I literally fell into this book like diving off a cliff and landing on a pillow of pleasure.
A well imagined story line. Her heroine is down to earth and believable, even if she is on a spaceship. Her love interest is fabulous and flawed enough to fall for.
Plot twists and an amazing storyline kept me so engaged I read this in one sitting.
If you're looking for a dark romantic fantasy this is a must read!

Great story!

Patience, one of the main protagonists is an older woman who finds herself being saved from an attack by Talon, an alien. The story follows Patience on a journey she never could have imagined. The tension between Talon and Patience is palpable, and I found myself willing them together! This is a great story and I loved the fact that Patience was an older woman, too.

I enjoyed reading Listen by Josephine Wrightson. It's a gripping story of an earth woman who is abducted to be sold into bondage by a gang of alien beings. The woman is a strong character who has to rely on her wits and friends that she makes along the way to survive.

The characters are well developed and the scenes are filled with action. I recommend reading this novel.
