Remember Me is the first book in a series of sweet, clean & wholesome standalone novellas set in the City of Gold, Johannesburg.
Vida Li Sik is a wife, mother, award-winning journalist and multi-genre author. She grew up in a small town, Nigel, in sunny South Africa, and now lives with her family in Johannesburg, the City of Gold. She has no pets and has yet to find a weird and wonderful hobby. In the meantime, she loves to write about people, real ones and imagined.
This young adult contemporary romantic novella is the first in a series and it absolutely grabbed this reader’s attention from start to finish!
Wow, what a choice Emma has to make at the crunch point in the story! And Marc, what an amazing mature attitude for someone his age. Oh the tears and the heartache!
Highly recommend this story ….and the final scene - breathtaking and beautiful ! (Ps what happens to Jason? Can he have his own story too?!)
Received this as a free copy and this is my own opinion.
CONTAINS SPOILERS: What any of us would have done in Emma's shoes is hard to say - betray your first love, or betray your parent. Your heart breaks for her and for Marc, and, in a way, for Emma's mother. As much as you hate her, you feel bad for her. Regardless, this book reminds of young love, it's trials and tribulations, and of the hope that goes along with it...just hold on to your heart as you read it.
I enjoyed this romantic story between Emma and Mark who meet again after three years, during which Emma's mother broke them apart. The writing was authentic and the characters connected beautifully. It was an entertaining and heart-felt story of a strong love between two people who wondered if they could still love each other three years later. Emma's mother was a true villain in this story, and definitely not the type of mother I would like. Well worth the read!
She has broken up with them as it was not going anywhere as well as she wanted another who was her best friend. Now they want to try to see if a relationship can be formed but her mother is against it. What will she do? Will she turn her back on her mother? See just how she gets on
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A short read and sadly it took me a longer time to get through it than normal. All things considered it was a cute read and ended with a few (happy) tears for this reader. However, I don't know if I would pick this up on my own in a bookstore.
This friends to 'lovers' book starts out with Emma dating a jerk of a guy and once she realizes the type of guy he is, she quickly ends things and starts hanging out more with her friend. Marc, a long time friend, is the epitome of what a girl could ask for in a boyfriend. While it takes a little bit for the relationship to get a foothold, its quickly thwarted by Emma's mother who bases her judgement of young Marc on the actions on his father. After some crazy accusations from Emma's mothers, Emma and Marc essentially have to put their relationship on hiatus for a few years. The story ends with a rather nail biting journey of the two making their way back to each other.
Such a sweet love story. Marc and Em went to school together and he was her math tutor. When they eventually went out together and her lush of a mother found out, it was not good. He was court ordered not to see her and she was sent away. Three years gone and they are to meet at thier special place if they still have feelings. I like how the author puts a glossary of words and slang at the beginning, makes it much easier.
I got this book for free, thru an Advanced Review Copy, ARC, with an honest review freely given. Once I received this book I was able to read it from the beginning to the end. I thought the characters were so well done it made the story just be so much better and this is my opinon. I thought the story line was so good it made it go so much better to read for me in my opinon.
Loved how this story played out! I'm not a big romance reader but when I get my hands on a good one I know at that point that I have stepped out of my normal with reading with something good! Loved the characters and the plot of this book!
A very interesting story of high school love. Marc and Emma are trying to fight the odds. This was a good book as you never knew how it would end up. A great story with great characters.
A story of love. Best friends from two different classes. It wouldn’t be a problem, except from a wealthy, jealous mother who had an agenda. The story was truly beautiful. Love wins
