Avery Dimaano is good at most things. No, she’s better. She has amazing friends, a family that’s only slightly more dysfunctional than others, and an affable way of strutting through the world that makes her the quintessential person for the role of HR at Gia, San Francisco. There’s only one problem, she has no one to spend her weekends with.

Travel influencer Ky Logan doesn’t play by anyone else’s rules. Her life of jet-hopping across the world is the envy of two million followers, even if her family doesn’t exactly approve. It’s a simple, adventurous existence with no one to answer to but herself.

Six months after her trip to Sydney, Ky still can’t stop thinking about the woman she sat next to on the plane. Avery. Beautiful, clever, straight Avery. When a leak in Avery’s apartment leads them to share a bed for two weeks, lines inevitably become blurred, especially after the kiss they shared in San Francisco International.

Maybe Ky is the person Avery has been waiting for, even if she’s never considered being with a woman. But is Ky’s time with Avery just another one of her vacations?

Avery Dimaano just wants to go home. After a disastrous vacation that began with her getting dumped and concluded with her ingesting way too much alcohol, she just wants to get back to the safety of her job at Gia and the comfort of her friends. She doesn’t plan on spending 14 hours on a flight with Kyla Logan, telling each other stories of their lives, holding hands through turbulence and sharing one hot kiss as they leave each other at the airport, seemingly forever. No, Avery didn’t plan for Kyla but who can plan for moments that change your life forever.

Kyla Logan is a travel influencer, jetting around the world taking photos for her socials and mostly avoiding her strained relationship with her mom. After meeting Avery, she can’t stop thinking about her. When Avery reaches out to wish her a happy birthday, a friendship forms, with both trying to ignore their underlying attraction. Avery needs to be in San Francisco for her best friend’s wedding. She might as well go a few weeks early and see Avery. As fate would have it, an accident at Avery’s apartment forces her to leave for a few weeks and Avery is more than happy to share her rental with her. Of course, the fact that there is only one bed won’t cause any issues at all.

We met Avery in Chef’s Kiss. She is Jenn’s best friend and HR manager at Gia, Jenn’s restaurant. Stephanie Shea gives us characters in Kyla and Avery, who are both struggling with family issues and their undeniable chemistry. While Avery is the “straight” woman in this story, she is the stronger of the two and less afraid of the connection. Avery knows what she wants and doesn’t care if she should be freaked out by being attracted to a woman for the first time. I love Avery’s strength and that she doesn’t experience gay panic. It is what it is and why would she deny herself something that feels so right.

Kyla and Avery have an intense chemistry but what I love even more are the moments of calm that they find with each other. They really are each other’s person. The supporting characters are all wonderful and it was great catching up with Jenn and Val. There are a lot of family dynamics is this book and those characters were vital in showing us how Ky and Avery came to be the women they are and how their views of relationships were formed.

Stephanie Shea is such a phenomenal writer. She writes books that have this beautiful, almost poetic cadence while creating characters that are relatable and endearing. When I think I possibly couldn’t love any characters more than Jenn and Val, she brings Avery and Kyla into my life. With every book, I become more of a groupie. I’m certain if you read this or any of Stephanie’s books, you will agree she has a special talent and is one of the best writers in our community.

An ARC was received from the author for an honest review.

An enjoyable read and a plot that was interesting. Liked the fact that Avery embraced her sexuality and wasn’t hesitant about it (yes, she didn’t go all gung ho and announced it to her family and whole wide world immediately - but she got there eventually PDQ). Ky irked me at times with her 1 step forward and many steps backward though.

The whole book happens mainly in a two weeks period. It's a delicate exercise for writers to condense feelings and plots in a short amount of time without overwhelming the reader. I always had a bit of trouble with that because I am the queen of the boredom kingdom and what happens in two weeks in books happens in ten years for me. In this case, it's done in a clever way because the beginning of Avery and Ky's story happens mainly off scene. This story was about how to turn a spontaneous spark into a lasting fire and it was well done. Add to that, a layer of a straight woman realizing she is attracted to a woman. Shea did it without any homophobia, with serenity and I appreciate it. We had chemistry, and support between Avery and Ky with their respective family issues.Shea know how to gives her characters rich backgrounds : I liked how the family drama was treated with Avery's; Kyla's mum's issue with alcohol was treated in an almost shy way, like Shea dipped her toe without fully diving in. Both MC are very easy to like, even if Avery is almost too perfect for me. I have a little preference for the first book of the serie, with Jenn Coleman and her complexity, but overall I enjoyed this book. I gave 4⭐ to the first and should give this one 3⭐ if I am logical but it 3⭐ feels harsh for this one. So I am rounding up.
I look forward to read Whitney's story, introduced in this book, and who sounds already very endearing

Chemistry, hot chemistry and … more chemistry
This book - a sequel to Chef‘s Kiss another excellent romance - is all about chemistry. And girls, does this book ooze chemistry, attraction and hotness and when you think all is said and done it starts all over again. The romance starts with a slow burn which turns into open flames, it is sweet, the novel is character driven and I esp. liked the secondary characters. So a total like from me. And: I have a feeling we will soon read more about Whitney.

This is book 2 of the series starting with Chef's Kiss! We're introduced to Avery in that book. I'm so happy that this is about Avery, a wonderful human being. Who on her flight back to San Francisco from Australia meets and flys back with Kylar (Ky). They have a connection and kiss at the end of the flight but Avery is sure she'll never see Ky again. Ky is a traveler influencer and Avery keeps up with her via Instagram dms. However Ky stays quiet about her trip to San Francisco for her BFs wedding. So 6 mos after they say goodbye, Ky is at GIA the Michelin star restaurant managed by Avery. And that is the beginning of their relationship. Such a great book. Hot!! Can't wait to start book 3Take Two!! Definitely 5 stars!

If the never-ending hammering in her chest was anything to go by, the way she looked at Avery was the kind of lost, free falling hopeless that said, ‘All I want is to be stuck with you.’

3.5 stars. Stephanie Shea writes a romantic scene like no other. Even though parts of the setup of this weren't my jam, and a few things about the progression and conflict really didn't work for me... I still liked this romance so much! Avery and Ky meet at an airport and spend a flight together, getting to know one another and forming a surprisingly strong bond. At the end of it, they share a kiss, even though Avery has always thought of herself as straight, and Ky isn't looking for a relationship. Six months later, they meet again.

There were a lot of things about the setup that didn't go the way I expected it to. Most crucially, we never see the entirety of their first day together; just the very beginning. Not even the kiss that sparks everything. I was very much ready to count this as a flaw, because I wanted to actually have that foundation on the page. Somehow, though, it works? We get glimpses at the moments from that first meeting, little flashbacks that don't last too long. There was just enough build-up about what happened in the past that it felt completely natural, the place and pace we started in the present day. I didn't remember much of Avery from the first book in this series, which I liked a whole lot, but totally fell for her here. Ky was a complete dream, with foibles and insecurities that seemed natural and believable. I liked that both their families played such an important part in their lives, and that we saw those relationships being worked at. Maybe not as much as I'd have liked (I wanted more between Ky and her mother, and Avery and her father) but enough to make it feel well-rounded. Their chemistry was soooo good. There's something about the way Shea writes romantic scenes and lines that just makes me melt. It didn't take me long to fall in love with these two, and with their relationship.

The third act conflict almost completely lost me, it grew out of such an absurd place, but the author managed to bring it around for me. At first it really didn't work for me, and did sour the last bit a little, but the characters and their chemistry and a particularly A+ confession scene won me over again. I ended this book with legit butterflies.

There was a bit of setup for what might be a third book, and I can't wait for it. I continue to really enjoy this series.

“Yes, to all of it, Ky. As long as it’s with you.”

Avery and Kyla met at the airport in Australia and it just so happened they were seat mates on the flight to San Francisco. Those fourteen hours changed the course of both of their lives forever. Ky sweetly put herself on the 6-month waitlist for Gia, San Francisco just to see Avery again. What followed was a simply delightful story filled with tons of chemistry, steaminess, chuckles, and smiles. This book was simply fantastic in every way!

Cute!

Avery and Ky meet by chance at the airport then end up sat next to one another for the flight. When it’s been six months and Ky still can’t stop thinking about Avery but then a leak in Avery’s apartment means they are reunited once more when they end up sharing a bed.

What I loved most about this story was the way Ky and Avery met and the impulsive actions that lent to one of them unable to stop thinking about the other, and for Avery to be considering a relationship with a woman, which she’d not done before. The situation they then found themselves in only played on that, and you just knew fate was at play and up to something.

Being a travel influencer meant Ky wasn’t used to anything long term, and that caused concern for their relationship a few times, especially with Avery trying to work out what she wanted to do with all these new thoughts and feelings. They had a lot of great moments together though which really had me believing in them and hoping they’d try and make it work. The uncertainty of whether they would or not though, kept me hooked and brought all the drama this romance needed.

Really enjoyed learning Avery and Ky’s story and joining them on their journeys.

3.5 stars. Well written, easy to like characters. I really liked Avery in particular, as well as the storyline involving her sister (who I feel like we will see more of in another book). Unfortunately, the story needed more “show” instead of “tell” when it came to the romance between Avery and Ky. I didn’t like that so much of their time spent together happened off page, especially in the first half of the book. When they were together they spent a lot of time in their own heads. Despite that, I found the romance sweet and overall it was a good read.

This is a great one from Stephanie Shea, i love the way she writes, she has a way to create characters and stories that feel so real and lovable. She’s thorough, and has a way to describe cities and places that will make you feel as if you were there. Missed Connection is funny, enjoyable, romantic with the right amount of angst and i believe she has an amazing ability to write steamy scenes and chemistry between her characters, you’ll fall in love with them too. I love and recommend all Stephanie Shea’s books.

I loved this book! I really enjoyed the chemistry between the characters, I can feel it from page one. As always, Shea's writting is on point, creating interesting, complex, beautiful characters. Avery and Ky won my heart from the beginning.
I also loved to catch a glimpse of Jenn and Valentina’s life and to meet the other new characters like Brady and Whitney that kept me laughing constantly.

Another great read from Ms Shea. I didn’t even bother reading the blur. Just got it and read it, and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s intriguing, well written, funny, and the chemistry is fireeee. And of course, the all important cultural nods and representation. One of my fav authors at the moment and I look forward to the next instalment.
I’ll definitely recommend.

I had a hard time getting interested in this book. It didn't really interest me until about halfway through the story. While I liked Avery right away, it was hard to connect with Ky. She felt too immature at times. The addition of the families and friends brought both women to life. Maybe they needed that supporting cast for me to see more dimensions to both main characters.

It started with a hangover and a suggested cure.

This is a F/F RomCom. The two met in the departure lounge while getting coffees. One had a hangover and the other knew what was the best drink to get. Six months later they meet up again wondering if their meet cute was for real hoping it was but afraid that it wasn't.

The plot was chefs kiss. Loved how avery and ky met and the development thr out.

Ky was a little bit indecisive and kinda broke avery's heart but i understand why shes like that, but it all worked out great at the end.

Loved val and jenn in this. The other side characters, brady and justin were also great.

The way they reconnected, the tension, and the family issues made this book a 4 stars.

It was good. The book ended with the possibility of a third installment, this time focused on Avery's sister, Whitney.

I liked how the one who backed out from the relationship was not the "straight" one. In fact, Avery was more sure about everything than Ky. Usually, it's the opposite—the straight one is the one who tends to be hesitant about the relationship. In this book, this was not the case at all. Both were certain about their feelings for each other, only that Ky backed out at the end. They do get back together though—and quite soon, at that. It is a HEA, after all.

I expected more about Ky's work. She does have a big following on Instagram, doesn't she? So why not explore it a little more? Maybe a few lives with Avery, or some Q&A, I don't know, just something. Anything, really. We know nothing about it besides the 'I travel for a living.' There is no fan interaction whatsoever. I kinda hoped we'd get some. Maybe a few comments on their photos, some speculation about their relationship, anything. Well, this is not something I'd usually want to see in a book, but reading Night & Day by Lily Seabrooke changed my opinion about it.

“Ten minutes. That was as long as Kyla had to devise a plan that wouldn’t leave Avery wondering why Kyla wouldn’t sleep next to her. Two women sleeping in the same bed was literally the most mundane occurrence, and Kyla was being fucking weird about it. But it’s not like Avery’s intentions were clear—what with the ogling and the innuendos, and straightness. One thing was sure, until Kyla knew what Avery wanted, sharing a bed was not going to happen. Especially not with Kyla being an unconscious cuddler.”

Heroine: Kyla “Ky” Logan
Heroine: Avery Dimaano

I really liked how Avery’s sexuality was tackled when she thought of being with Ky. It was never about being with a woman for the first time. It was about the person. The connection. She was so sure in what she was feeling. Honestly it was more Ky that held back. She had the reservations. It was really interesting how it all unfolded.

Cliffhanger – no (stand alone)
POV - Ky & Avery
