Short and sweet second-chance Dramione. It's kind of a slow-burn, but the flashbacks are so good! The setting in Paris was interesting, but a bit underused, in my opinion. The ending though ❤️ Beautiful.

Post War / romance / enemies-to-lovers / bodyguard draco /
a little bit of smut

A cute and short story about Draco being assigned as a bodyguard for Hermione in Paris.
Over the course of the week they spend in Paris several flashbacks reveal they kind of had a history back at Hogwarts.

I recognized a tiny bit of "Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal..." in that story, however not to the same level. The banter was cute, the smut fell a little out of it.

The idea of revealing their history through flashbacks and bringing a new perspective to the present was really good.
However, I despise stories when a side character just pops out (after years) and reveals all the secret intentions and undying love character A has for character B and clears the misunderstandings.
EXPLAIN WHY DIDN'T YOU DO THIS 3 YEARS AGO? WHY NOW?!

> "I can't believe you managed to pull this together with fifteen minutes' notice." She shook her head in wonderment. "Have you ever been denied anything in your life, Malfoy?"
> He felt the lump in his throat grow thicker. "Yes."

> Her sigh was heavy. "It wasn't Ron in particular. I was looking for a feeling and he didn't give me it."
> He thought back to the witches he'd dated casually since Hogwarts. He had never gone past a second date and certainly never opened up to them like he had with her. No matter how he tried, he never felt like he had all of himself to give to another person. "What feeling?"
> "The one I knew that I'd recognise when I had it… it's a cliché, but I want the kind of feeling that people write books about. It has to be someone who sweeps me off my feet and makes me lose sleep staying up all night thinking about them. It wasn't—" She faltered, twisting and pulling at her pendant with her fingers. "God, I sound ridiculous."
>
> "No, you don't," he insisted, leaning forward in his seat. He knew exactly the feeling she was describing.
>
> It was what he had with her.

> "There's no one else, Granger.”

Draco in this one GOD

Cute, sweet, short dramione fic. I love flashbacks from school years. And I LOVE second chance romances, even though he hurt my Hermione he was doing it to protect her. Much love to this author she did great writing this. I do lowkey wished the Paris setting was utilized more though.

Day 1 of 12 days of Smutmas!! 🎄

My first note: CHAPTER 6, CHAPTER 6, CHAPTER 6!!! Dear, oh dear… 😏

Second, my only complaint is that there may be an overuse of “knickers” in the last chapter, but that’s so minor who cares?

Third, this is so cosy and heartwarming. Not a ton of action, but so romantic and fuzzy. It fits so well into the main canon, too. Brava!

Overall a cute and sweet second-chance romance. I was hoping for a little more action with the body guard aspect, but for being novella-length, it seemed on par with what I expected. While there was definitely more plot than smut, there was a significantly hot scene that will stick in my mind for quite a while!

This was a super sweet story! Overall it gave what I wanted it to give. However, there were a couple of things i wish were done differently. Some character actions were too bonkers and OOC but i still enjoyed it nonetheless. It was short and sweet.

Short and sweet. Very similar to Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love. Loved that they were together in school and then found their way back to one another later. And the signet ring! 🥰

"Every ounce of light that I had inside me back then was just a reflection of the light that came from you," he whispered into the night air.

Dramione second chance romance. Years later, Draco is assigned to be Hermione’s bodyguard when she was receiving deadly threats.

-
As usual, I love reading Draco’s pov. His care, possessiveness, his jealousy, his happiness, his anger,
his love; his dedication all belongs to Hermione alone:

Draco found the meaning of life in the touch of her lips.

"My intention is to make you happy, to hear that laugh of yours as frequently as possible, and to never have to go a day without that."

-
I mean he made a deal with crookshanks and have a civil “relationship”, which surprises Hermione:
"Oh my god, I can't believe he just did that! He's never taken to anyone but me." Draco pet Crookshanks on the head, taking care to rub around his ears and down his back. "It would appear that we have a mutual interest at heart."

Blaise is the real mvp here. Being the glue to Dramione & and his support in giving the signet heirloom:
“I'm going to give her my signet before the end of the year.
Swearing under his breath, Blaise instantly sobered. "Are you sure? She's Muggle-born. She won't understand the significance.
"But I will, and I feel like she's it for me.”
Blaise brought his hand to his chest. "Oh, young love."
"It is love." Draco smiled to himself. "Isn't it?"

Also in this story, we see past and present time; their friendship to lovers in hogwarts to angsty to reunion years later. HEA guarantee.

I searched for this after seeing someone mention that Who I Was With You was a bodyguard fic. I expected an action-packed story - or if there were no action scenes, at least a story where you could feel that the stakes were high. I was also expecting a brilliant Hermione and an overprotective, combat-proficient Draco.

I got none of that. The Present Day chapters were D&H doing mundane activities, but at least the flashbacks to their Hogwarts days were entertaining to read. Unfortunately Hermione's intelligence never shows, and Draco gets injured and incapacitated at the first and only action scene.

To make it worse, both characters were completely OOC and not fleshed out at all. Draco and Hermione in the Present Day chapters could've been replaced by any other character.

The ending was okay. I'll probably forget this story tomorrow.

2.5☆ because I'm more generous to fics

I feel I'm in a bit of a Dramione slump. This read was alright but it wasn't great. I enjoyed the flash backs to school, and although they originally story was changed during the school years I did enjoy it. I didn't really love magic with the signet ring but oh well can't love it all. It was a slow burn I guess I would have liked a little more heat. I enjoy a slow burn when the story line is really great to keep me interested but this one didn't fully do it for me. I found myself skimping over areas.

Not a bad read but not up there with great ones.

I enjoyed reading this, especially the flashbacks. I thought it was an interesting twist to have them become friends in 5th year. It was fun to see how the author navigated the war and not stray too far from canon. I absolutely adore moody, younger little shit Draco. Watching him grow and become a good man is top tier to me. Because it was a shorter story I feel like we didn’t get to experience maybe all the details I would have liked.

it was more of a 3,75 but it was quite good, the plot was good and for once i liked the fact that they were already in love back at hogwarts i think because it was a short fic so i didn’t feel to long for me.
i loved the little details that draco remembered and all it was so sweet and even thought we didn’t see much of him we had a great representation of Blaise and i like that.
overall a great short fic to read when you have a bit of time to spare.

3.3/5 not bad but I skimmed a little. There was a cute sentence that made me pause though:

The gift of a Pureblood signet ring is symbolic of building a new family together, just the two of you, and it’s a promise to continuously fall in love together, no matter where life takes you.

Imagine not just falling in love with someone, but continuously falling in love with them every day! Swooned at this line.

What a cute little fanfic!!!! It was refreshing to read a 275 page one for once 😅
It was a lovely pallet cleanser after my 1000+ fanfic last week.
Crookshanks was absolutely adorable in this and I love the ring meaning in this one 😭😭😭.
Also I’ve discovered fanfic Ginny is the best Ginny. And this version of her was the most likable version 😂
Blaise is also a favorite when it comes to dramonies for me 💚

My enjoyment in this makes me want to give it a 5 star but I think 4 is well earned. I really enjoyed the story telling and who doesn't love a forced proximity story. This is definitely cute and a light hearted fanfic. Easy to read in one sitting. This also perfectly sums up my own love for books and collecting them!

This was so light & fluffy and the second chance romance really just made me melt. I loved the snippets of them falling in love during sixth year - it is simply just the best thing ever. And it’s canon, I’m sorry, it just is.

It’s so sweet, it’s fluffy, the bickering is funny, the flashbacks are both painfully cute and plain painful, it’s side character light and lining Draco heavy. I would have preferred it to be a little longer but it’s wonderful pick-me-up read you can devour in one go.

Solid 3.5/5. Short and sweet with more potential. It could have been longer, wish the author had more flashback sequences that established the relationship between Draco and Hermione prior to current day. Ending felt rushed but overall a fun read.

Nowhere near the calibre of DMATMOOBIL- I don't mind a bit of Draco retconning but the essence has to be there, which it wasn't. And then minus the sex all the interactions and dialogue were just a bit juvenile and teenage. I also don't like fics where Hermione pined after him all along.

Perfect Draco! Second change is not my favorite trope, but this was great. I gave it 4 stars, but I feel like I should give it 5, even though it didn't really stir up a lot of emotions. I enjoyed the whole story though.

I also enjoyed that Ron wasn't the bad guy in the story, as he often is.

I love dramione!! This was an amazing mix of past and present and it didn’t feel like it ruined any timeline and completely made sense for where the characters all ended up on the future after hogwarts. Loved this very much.
