June Fletcher never thought she’d be a widow. She thought she and her Daddy Dom husband Mike would grow old together. When she loses Mike after a short battle with cancer she finds her life without him almost too difficult to bear. Friends fall away as she moves mindlessly between work and home hoping for some sign that he’s okay, hoping for some sign to guide her out of the perpetual fog of grief. Gabe Winslow hadn’t seen Mike Fletcher since high school where the two played together on the football team. Meeting his widow is a surprise, especially when June tells him she found a note specifically requesting that he help June with financial planning. As Gabe works with June, he begins to get glimpses into her life and the special nature of the relationship she had with Mike. He doesn’t tell her that he’s a Daddy, too. Mike made June promise to move on and be happy. Can Gabe help her find her way back to happiness? Or will June’s hold on the past keep her from moving forward?
Ava Sinclair is a best-selling Amazon romance author who caters to readers who appreciate a plot driven book where the steamy sex complements the story, rather than overshadowing it.
A hopeless bibliophile, Ava avidly reads across multiple genres, and this is reflected in her varied body of work that spans contemporary, medieval fantasy, western, historical, time travel and sci-fi. She especially enjoys world-building and crafting interesting and relatable characters.
Because her books feature graphic sex and elements of power exchange, she gently cautions her readers to take her work for what it is – delightful, sexy escapism.
Ava lives in southern Virginia in a farmhouse tucked away on a wooded hilltop. The first thing she did after moving in was to rip out the dining room and turn it into a library/office. This is where she spends most of her days, writing and being ignored by her cats. When she’s not working, she enjoys roaming the woods around her house, or seeking the advice of Lucius, her Eagle Owl.
This Age Play, seasoned BDSM, second-chance romance features widowed June and divorced Gabe. Can this Little find happiness with a new Daddy?
I really liked this book and really felt for the characters (Gabe is a dream boyfriend), but do want to warn people that its subject matter (love, loss, and love again) will not be for everyone -- particularly not during a pandemic when death, isolation, and grief are now all too familiar, far too familiar friends. While the MC do get an HEA, the author doesn't shy away from depicting the pain, anger, and loneliness we all feel when we lose someone. I recognized my own grieving process in June: like her, I felt that if I relinquished my pain, I would, as she says, lose "the one thing that tethered me to" the one I loved. The healthy thing to do, of course, is to give it up, but you have to be ready, and letting go of pain is often as difficult as feeling it.
5 stars. It's rare that I read a book in this erotic genre that touched me so deeply. I recommend it, but you do have to be in the right frame of mind. Note: The book is generally well-edited, but the timeline for Gabe is wrong; given all the narrative says about when he did what, his sons should be older.
This book was kind of sad and bittersweet. I liked that both the main characters were older and not perfectly beautiful and fit. That they had history and maturity (even though on was a ‘little’). The story reads more like a novella as it’s quite short. Throughout the story June deals heavily with her grief after losing her husband, and her first husband plays a significant part of the story in letters to him, flashbacks and conversation. So this made for a good overall story, and a very original one as this book didn’t rely heavily on any of the usual contemporary romantic plot devices, both characters were honest and straightforward with their feelings, with no communication issues or stupidity and I was profoundly happy about that. All that being said, this book overall was not for me. Not to yuk anyone’s yum but age play really isn’t my thing, this is a learning experience for me so I can not choose these types of books in the future as I tended to cringe and squirm in discomfort when I read the scenes involving June as a little with her Daddy. I also got bogged down by June's constant need for a sign from her deceased husband, it was over done and got pretty tiresome. And with any story I read with a widow/widower I always feel like the new partner is a second choice rather than a second chance, and it’s a delicate path that the author has to take to write one of these books so it doesn’t feel that way. This author did not achieve that, Gabe seemed to definitely be June’s second choice, even in the epilogue she says she knows she will see him again someday, if she does then in this afterlife she believes in, which one of her husbands will she choose to remain with? And is Gabe ok with her feeling that way? Anyway this all could just be preference on my part but I felt it could have been handled better however it did feel realistic and honest so I wouldn’t steer anyone away from reading this as long as they are ok with this dynamic. So a good quick bittersweet read with some problems that I couldn’t quite resolve myself to.
I enjoyed this emotional story of loss, grief, sadness, and finding happiness when it's least expected. I liked that the characters were a mature couple exploring that love and passion are not just for the young. This was a short read, but I was not left feeling dissatisfied. The intimacy and raw passion was unexpected and so steamy that it took my breath away.
My heart ached for June after the death if her husband and daddy. Her grief was palpable, sitting like a black cloud over her head. She missed her daddy and was stuck in a cycle of mystery, unable to move on. Finding a letter from her daddy to contact his ex-school buddy and financial adviser Gabe Winslow was the turning point in June's life.
Gabe was in his own rut after his divorce. He was drawn to June from their first meeting, sensing her submissive nature. He never took advantage of her vulnerability allowing the relationship to develop at its own pace, bringing joy back into June’s life. He read her heart and knew what she needed. He was the daddy she needed filling both of their desires.
This couples journey was an insightful and emotional experience. It never felt rushed or hurried. A well written story that will pull at your heart with it's believable and likable characters.
This starts off so sad but ends on such a positive note. She so struggled with her grief and not only did she meet him, he was a Daddy too, different from her first, but still a Daddy in his own way. So glad to see that he wasn't threatened by his memory and that she didn't compare them because they were so different. The way her family and the seniors supported her was great to witness.
June had a wonderful life. A husband that she loved and loved her. Mike was always there for her. He was not only her husband but her Daddy Dom. To lose him to cancer was heartbreaking. You can feel the emptiness and loss. It her deceased husband that sends her to Gabe a Financial Analyst that helps her with what he left her. I love that Gabe felt the vibe from June from the start. He took his time and didn’t spook her. And June’s daughter was great. She was all for her mom moving on. The care and tenderness that Gabe showed was an aww moment. And he not only gave her back the care and love but also broadened her life. She got to be a true Little and enjoy life to the fullest once again. It’s great to read that regardless of age, you can still find happiness and love. This was a great read and was surprised when it was over. Thanks, Ava, for another great story.
It's been 24hrs since I finished this book and I'm finally able to write my review.
This book really took and emotional toll on me. It's literally my worst nightmare put to paper...losing the other half of your soul.
June has lost her husband Mike. That itself is hard to process but he was also her Daddy. To be a Little in grief, how do you get through that?!
June finally goes through some papers and follows Mike's request to go see Gabe, a financial planner Mike went to school with.
I absolutely love Gabe! He is so gentle and caring with June. Never once did he get upset with her or pressure her. The man truly has such a calmness to him in all aspects of his life.
Be prepared for tears, be prepared for your heart breaking for June, just go ahead and have the tissues ready.
This was a very sweet second chance love story with an older couple. June is a strong character, absolutely devastated by the loss of her husband Mike and it is at his behest that she meets Gabe and asks for his help to manage her finances. Their relationship is so very sweet. He is able to meet needs that June has been missing and spoils her in a truly loving and decadent way. I really enjoyed this story because of how accomplished and strong June is and how Gabe’s personality is able to mesh with and support hers.

June lost Mike to Pancreatic Cancer and the guy she put her in touch with for finances was a friend from high school. Gabe meets June and something iclicked but he was not able to figure it out that day. It takes a while but eventually all the pieces fall into place. I have read several books by this author and I have never been disappointed. Hope you enjoy this as much as I have

I rarely, if ever, cry when reading a book but this story had me crying at the very beginning and throughout the story, especially when June wrote her letters to her deceased Daddy. As a reader, I was able to feel the raw emotions that June felt on a daily basis and this is one of the reasons that Sinclair is such a great writer, she put her heart and soul into this story. BTW-grab a box of tissues because you are going to need them. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and are voluntarily leaving a review.
June is deep in mourning for her late husband Mike. He was her Daddy, and she doesn’t expect to find another. While opening a box of their financial papers, she is directed to contact Mike’s friend from high school — Gabe.
Gabe remembers Mike and is honored to advise his widow. He is also attracted to the submissive within her. They both are into running, and over time he learns she is a Little. Gabe is a Daddy Dom. He enchants June with the perfect day for a Little.
This is an emotional novel about grief and letting go. It is also a charming romance.
SO much better than the daddy/little trash so many authors are dishing out ad nauseam... Now this was something I could actually get on board with rather than the regurgitated stories so many authors are spewing out en masse. This felt real & was a seriously good story that was a heart healing second chance at happiness for the grieving widow & the financial advisor her late husband had told her to trust. I received an arc & this is my honest & voluntary review.
A story of second chances for both characters. June has been left floundering since her husband passed away and Gabe has been alone since divorcing his wife. This was a beautifully written story with more mature characters. I really enjoyed it and it even made me tear up in parts of it. There was really not a lot of drama, which I loved and the story was easy to read.
This brought tears several times and ended by making me happy
It's a very moving story. It shows how complicated it is when your marriage or relationship is deeper than just traditional husband and wife. This dynamic makes for a much deeper, soul deep relationship. So to lose that is a little like losing your soul for a while. A very good read. Good job.
Practically cried my way through it, but couldn't put it down. I lost my husband of 30 years, almost 3 years ago. Went through some similar feelings and now starting to date again. This book hit me right in the feels. I can only hope to find something similar. Really hit me hard, but definitely made some good points. Loved it!
This book made me sad and hopeful. June's journey was beautiful. I would recommend this book to anyone but especially to those who have experienced death of a spouse. It was beautiful watching June, despite her overwhelming grief, bravely decide to allow herself to love again. Thank you, Ms. Sinclair, for a well written story!
I don't think I have read a book that caught me on so many emotional levels ,I cried through all of it the heartfelt way of dealing with a loss of a daddy really brought me to tears . What a fabulous book and thoroughly enjoyable . I loved it and recommend it to be read by all who loves the DDLG lifestyle .
What a heartwarming story! I absolutely loved the way the author brought the story from overwhelming grief to a new, loving relationship. The characters were caring and so welcoming. A truly wonderful job of bringing a moth from her cocoon into a beautiful butterfly ready to fly. Remarkable.
Oh, this story made me cry! The sense of sadness with Mike gone so suddenly, the anger at his passing. This story belongs in the library of every hospice organization in the world. The Daddy Dom dynamic is nice but not necessary to the story. It is a lovely tale.
I have read 300 Romance novels in the last two years, and I’m pretty sure that this is the first one that made me cry. An in-depth look at grief and moving on, was not expecting this to be a tearjerker, but here I am with the box of Kleenex and a running nose.
This is a very good, well written, DD/lg second chance romance. The characters are very well developed and believable. The story starts with June grieving for her Daddy Dom, Mike. She is having trouble moving on. Read and enjoy.
This one was so full of what draws me to DD/lg literature. Sweetness, love, nurturing, and all Of the feels!! I was teary eyed at the end. Thank you, Ms. Ava Sinclair! 🥰
Well written story and well developed characters! I couldn't put this book down and read it in just a few hours! Happy and sad! Ups and downs! Loved it!!
Promising Daddy is the third book in Ava Sinclair’s Second Chance Daddies series. In this book, readers meet a grieving widow, June Fletcher, and Gabe Winslow, a financial planner. Although June’s husband and DD, Mike, died he continues to fulfill his role as a DD by connecting her with his high school friend, Gabe. Gabe is divorced and a DD. Once June and Gabe meet, there is an attraction. Will they act on it? How will June deal with her feelings of guilt? You must read this book to find out.
Ms. Sinclair does a remarkable job with this second-chance romance. She blends in strong and likeable characters, chemistry, and a splash of intimacy to make this a memorable romance. She does an outstanding job with literary devices such as dialog, POV, and descriptive language. The dialog, both conversational and internal monologues, are solid. The dual POV helps endear June and Gabe to her readers. Descriptive language produces memorable and vivid scenes. Way to go, Ms. Sinclair!
