Just when it seemed I'd overcome the biggest obstacles my fae mates and I could face, I find myself in the hands of their greatest enemies. Enemies who have more power than we ever imagined.
Enemies who hold so much more sway over my life than I want to believe.
I have to escape, and not just to warn the men I love and defend the home I've made with them. The longer I remain, the more these villains can use me to destroy everything I care about.
If I fail now, the entire faerie world will crumble. I don't know if I can do it alone—but where will I find an ally among the cruelest of the fae?
*Lies of Murk is the seventh book in Bound to the Fae, a new paranormal romance series featuring possessive shifters, dangerous fae politics, and a wounded heroine finding her strength.*
Eva Chase lives in Canada with her family. She loves stories both swoony and supernatural, and strong women and the men who appreciate them. You can visit her online at www.evachase.com.
In this one we meet (I’m guessing, it's not confirmed) Talia’s newest mate. She seems to have one for each race in faerie, and for someone I should hate, I really like Madoc. Talia is a little over-surprised by just how awful the Seelie can be: as she’s seen it firsthand it should be upsetting, but not altogether new information. She’s very soft hearted, but still has a will of iron. We finally meet the true villain of the story, and learn what set everything in motion. No cliff hanger this time, but there’s a lot that comes to light in this book, and you don’t want to miss it.
YES. I love the “fight for a whole book to find their way back to each other” How sweet are these men? Honey. I love them. August and Whitt are truly amazing characters and they will forever have my heart.
The murk? Honestly, really good introduction to their world and how they live. I truthfully loved the chair scene, it gives so much insight but also so many more questions. Orion? STINKERRRRRRR just as bad as Aerik and his clan of poopyheads.
Ms. Girl!!! If you tell me that Madoc is going to become King of the Murk AND Talia’s next mate I SWEAR I CALLED IT AND I AM A FORTUNE TELLER.
Poor Talia just can't catch a freaking break 😅 Every time when everything seems to be going good, BOOM, another catastrophe. And this time was no different. After her mating ceremony with her three wolfish mates, she gets kidnapped by the mysterious Murk fae. I enjoyed reading about the Murk group of fae. The king is a massive prick, but the rest aren't the vermin the season fae think they are. Leave it to Talia to find the good in them. I have a feeling sweet Madoc is going to be Talia's fifth mate. I can't wait to see how their relationship progresses.
It's going to be exciting to see how Talia goes about starting a treaty with the Murk and the season fae arch-lords.
After her abduction into the Fae realm, Talia has made conquered all of the obstacles she has so far encountered and now has a life for herself with one soul bond and 3 mates, but now finds herself kidnapped into the part of the world inhabited by the Murk who seem to have far more power than anyone could have imagined. They suddenly seem to have far more of an influence on her life than she had ever imagined and it becomes clear that the longer she remains in their part of the world the more they will use her against the men that she loves to destroy everything that she has grown to care about. If she fails now the entire faerie world will be irreparably changed, but she really can't see how she can do it alone - but as she is among the cruellest of the fae, she really can't see where she will find herself an ally.
There were some major revelations in this book that are going to change things for everyone if they can move past their historical hate and impressions. Talia tried her best to be a rational and friendly person although I have to say that in the face of the cruelty from the Murk that was certainly a tall order at times. I loved the way that the book finished and the next one certainly promises to be explosive in many ways. Well written and easy to read and understand. I loved the clear descriptions of the memories which felt very real. Contains some explicit sexual content.
Talia can't catch a break. Just as she finally gets to publicly claim her three summer fae men, with the full approval of her winter fae soul-twined mate, she gets snatched by the Murk and taken from the Mists back to the human world. There, she finally learns exactly where she came from and she is left reeling from the knowledge. With her mate-bond to Corwin suppressed, she has only a tenuous connection to Whitt through his true name to call upon. Unfortunately, she is too far away to get more than a broken, disjointed message through before the pain in her head forces her to break off the communication. She has one Murk male that at least treats her like a person. She doesn't trust Madoc, but she doesn't think he will abuse her like the Murk king does. Though King Orion sometimes treats her like a pet, he is a cruel, twisted male who is set on destroying the summer and winter fae and taking over the Mists. She has to escape and get back to her men to warn them, but how? With only her bronze bracelet and her knowledge of a few true names, she has her work cut out for her.
Stay tuned. Much more to come. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Another exciting episode in this wonderful series. Kidnapped and taken to another part of the Fae world, Talina encounters the cruelest of them all, the Murk. Will she be able to find a way out of her predicament? Can she get back and warn her men of the danger? Who can she trust? I am so looking forward to the next book. I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Something about Eva Chase’s writing is just beautiful. With this being the seventh installment in this series, you would think the writing would’ve slowed or the world building is lacking. This is not the case and I truly read this book in the blink of an eye. I just can’t get enough of this series!
As if Talia's life isn't anti-run-of-the-mill enough, add a touch of Murk mystery into her pentagonal passion and fans are definitely googly-eyed!👀 Eva Chase's seventh Bound to the Fae #ReverseHarem, #Fantasy, #Mystery, Lies of Murk, piles more question rocks in the To Be Figured Out Later bucket, but it also helps readers understand (partially) where the Seelie-Unseelie curse breaker comes from! Stolen by the Murk and cut off from her mates, Talia's Courage Cache Detector works overtime in this seventh installment.
*Note - Love the mystery of this series, and I do understand that this is an RH, but I really, really, really wish her only mate was Corwin - did anyone else feel that way?
Lies of Murk is the seventh book in the Bound to the Fae series and it was great. So many questions were answered but so many more questions were left unanswered. Talia is in the hands of the Murk, her mates are left clueless about how to find her not to mention dealing with old issues among the Seelie and Unseelie, and finally, there are the interworkings of the Murk society to deal with. Talia has been captured by her mates' enemies and once again finds herself in an awful predicament and this time Talia might not be able to talk herself out of a dangerous position.
One of the best things about Talia is that she perseveres, she always has hope and doesn't allow herself to be broken. Talia sees past the acts of a few to see the group as a whole, she judges people on their actions and their actions alone and has the biggest heart of anyone, she is willing to forgive when most won't. However, that isn't the most of what she can do, Talia is smart and can come up with a plan to tackle almost any problem, I love that she may be human in the world of the fae and they may beat her down physically again and again but they can't destroy her spirit although in this book the Murk came pretty close.
his book introduces the world of the rat shifters known as the Murk. They live in the human world in an abandoned subway system and have come up with ways to survive. They even have a king, Orion, who is a sadistic bastard that needs to be stopped. The man is beyond vile with his violence and is a power unchecked by anyone. I can understand wanting to bring your people up but Orion is more interested in power than anything, what he forces upon his own people is sickening and they go along with it because of the past injustices they faced from the Seelie and Unseelie. They don't see that Orion is just as bad. Talia being Talia finds the good in some of the Murk, she cares, she sees what has happened to them and sees how unfair that was/is, Talia's heat ache for some of the Murk, even while they hold her against her will.
While Talia is gone her mates try to do everything to get her back, which includes working with their opposites. It's in moments like these that the love that the guys have for Talia shines through the most. They make plans, feel things more deeply, and are willing to admit more to themselves than we normally get to see and they aren't the only ones. The real shocker is that both the Seelie and Unseelie now love Lady Talia, they see all that she's done for them and they care about her well-being. Although truth be told, it still seems more like they care for her because of what she can do for them and it looks like that may be tested soon.
The story is still told from multiple perspectives, from Talia and her mates but of course, we need a Murk's point of view and we get that in Madoc. The very Murk who took her and who is a part of Orion's inner circle and Madoc surprised me, he's incredibly complex. He wants the best for his people and he supports Orion thinking that he is the best for their people but he is also a kind person (fae) he's kind, thoughtful, caring, and open-minded. When Talia tells him of her observations and her thoughts about the Murk and Orion most of all Madoc actually listens to her and while he doesn't agree at first he respects her opinion and eventually sees her point. Not to mention that while Talia is in his care she of course works her magic on him, magic being her kind and lovely self.
I loved getting to know the Murks in this book, they seem more or less like the Unseelie and Seelie to me so I don't really know how all this trouble started but I do know they have reason to be angry but they also perpetuate the problem and it's a big mess. The most shocking part is the answers to a couple of the main questions surrounding Talia were answered and she did not like those answers and quite frankly they were shocking and they weren't the only things. As I said before, Lies of Murk answered some questions but now I have many more questions that I want answered. One of those questions is how will the fae react when they find out what Talia has learned? She has come so far, is finally mostly accepted by a good chunk of the fae I'm just worried about how all this is gonna land on her. Looks like I'm gonna find out in Chained Souls, the next book in the series. I also have two theories that I really hope happen in the next book as well.
I was nervous about starting essentially the "Murk trilogy" in this 9 book series but I didnt have anything to be worried about. I thought this book got back on track with all the action and plot progression. I thought it was fabulous and I am dying for the next book in the series to be released on audio so I can know what happens next. I was happy there wasn't a cliffhanger in this one, but I want to know how things are being set up for this big showdown/war between the Murk and the Summer and Winter fae.
In book 7 we get to learn how Talia became who she is today and get to see the perspective of the Murk, who have been deprecated throughout the series so far. They are the vermin of the fae world and treated as 2nd class citizens basically. Now they haven't helped their cause with the havoc they have been wreaking, but I can totally see why they are going after the summer and winter realms after how their people have been treated and slaughtered for year. I did like seeing a new character that I think will be part of Talia's harem. but I can't confirm until I think book 8. I liked seeing his progression, I wish we had gotten a little more POV from him, but maybe that will be in books 8 and 9, we shall see! The Murk leader is a pretty good bad guy, the author does a great job painting the picture; he exuded brutality and a selfishness for power and revenge (while treating his subjects like feral animals sometimes). That's all I will say since I don't want to give things away. I loved the ending and can't wait to see what happens next.
I really hope some of the snooty fae leaders form the 2 realms are knocked down a peg and finally realize they have to work together or they all will be eliminated. I did like the big action sequence towards the end, finally some karmic justice!
I honestly can’t remember the last time I was so enthralled in a series like this. Talia has been abducted by the Murk and spends pretty much the whole book in their compound. We meet Orion, the Murk king, and one of his… lieutenants (?) Madoc. Talia and Madoc definitely have a connection, but she does not trust him right away, and never really fully trusts him. I appreciated that she didn’t just put blind faith in a stranger who abducted her. Her goal remains to return to her mates, and if she can try to convince Madoc to become a turncoat, then why not try?
Orion is fucking crazy, dude. There’s no other word for it. It almost seems like a cult, honestly. Madoc is not crazy, but he is a little brainwashed. There’s definitely hope for him though, and I loved the interaction between him and Talia.
Talia is a beacon of light. That’s the only way I can describe her. It’s not annoying how good she is though. She is still human and doesn’t come across as some paragon of goodness and virtue. She just… is good. I dunno, I just really love Talia.
Also, since Talia is with the Murk for a lot of the book, we get to see more of the mates doing their thing. I love seeing Corwin kind of integrate into the brotherhood the Seelie mates share. Gives me the warm fuzzies every time they interact.
I am so glad this series is rapid release because I cannot wait for book 8. Not to kiss Eva Chase’s ass or anything, but seriously this series has been such a surprise. I’m all in. I’ve been all in since book 1.

I received an ebook ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review.
Wow… I think this might actually be my favourite book in Bound to the Fae so far. After that pivotal finale in Fated Crown, Chase totally flips peace on its head and has Talia stolen away after her coronation to the Kingdom of Murk. Murk is a land of scheming rat shifters and their King Orion has so much more to do with TAlia than we could have ever expected.
This was the plot twist I was waiting for! I do wish there had been a little bit more foreshadowing so we could have had hunches, but still, this twist was so worth it. No spoilers, but A LOT is revealed in this book and it is very satisfying.
Here, Talia is away from her secure support group - we have moments of weakness and vulnerability, especially when King Orion twists her mind in a new kind of invasion/abuse - perverting what she loves and making her feel like nowhere is safe.
Lies of Murk came just in time to freshen up the series again - instead of Talia bouncing back and forth between Seelie and UnSeelie, we have her facing her own challenges with the skills she has come to develop. She’s a soft badass and I love her to bits!
Oh and the steamy scenes? While they’re not over the top creative like those seen in Fated Crown - these scenes were over the top steamy in their intimacy and tenderness. Lies of Murk is straight up a contender for best book in the series, though I’m excited to see what comes next, especially as we come closer and closer to the finale.
My review is written voluntarily after listening to the audio version of this book.
This book picks up exactly where the last book left off just as Talia was kidnapped and told she was being "taken to the one that made her", who knew it would be Orion, the king of the murk? He tells her that she is his greatest weapon against the Fae of The Seasons, she learns that he started using his magic on her when she was a child, he brought her to the attention of Eric, his plan was for her to infiltrate the Fae of the Seasons, he's the reason for the curse both realms suffer from as he made the curse and made her to be the cure.
Talia learns too that Orian has somehow managed to make his own Heart to feed his magic, his power is great, he's rallied an army but is it out of devotion or fear? He intends to wipe out all the Fae of the Seasons and take over both the Winter and Summer Realms from the Seelie and Unseelie. Talia must find a way to warn her mates, but will she be able to escape Orion? If she does will her mates now see her differently, will they think of her as the enemy?
Through all her time with the Murk one man appears to take an interest in her, Maddock, but is his interest genuine or just because he wants to convert her to Orian's fold? Will she be able to escape and warn her mates before the Murk strike?
The narration of the book is every bit as good as we've come to expect from the talented team of Savannah Peachwood and Ryan West.
4⭐️ - I’m loving how this story is unfolding and how the group keep facing trials but all perfectly within the realm of normal and not just plot devices to continue the story.
During her mating ceremony with the summer wolves, Talia is kidnapped by the Rats of Murk and held in their stronghold. Their “king” is the origin of her power, and hoping to sow chaos among the fae of the seasons by withholding their “cure.” She is placed under the supervision of King Orions right hand man, Madoc, with instructions to make her comfortable so she might open up to them.
The story basically flips between Talia’s time with Madoc and the Murk, learning about their history and their reason for fighting, and her men trying to find a way to get her back or where she is at all. The summer and winter fae end up working together to best cover ground and learn about where the rats have been spying on them from. Talia is learning that the Murk have their own Heart power source that grows stronger as they cause chaos. Working to uncover all she can while also trying to find an escape route, Talia is unsure where her full loyalty lies besides with her mates.
The story in the series is progressing like a game. In order to move up to the next level, in this case, advance to another realm, Talia has to win the heart of one or more members in that particular realm.
Since she has conquered the two realms previously, she is left with the last part, the Murk realm. I like the way it progresses, for I get the opportunity to visit a new kingdom and learn about the world or hierarchy of the place. The Murk's world isn't as pretty as the previous two.
The Murk live a very challenging life. They forage for food, build a shelter in an abandoned subway, have no luxurious lifestyle, and heavily rely on their king's leadership. They have more stories to tell than judging just based on what we have learned so far from the point of view of the winter and summer fae. It was fascinating.
The mystery of Talia's origin is finally revealed in this story! I wonder if that's all it? What about the intervention of the heart? Since the maker does not know of her unique talent. I can't wait to read the next book!
this book felt a little darker than most of the others, and that’s even considering the many ways Talia’s been tortured and abused since the first book.
her time with the Murk in this book certainly isn’t pretty and i’ve never willed someone quite so much to be able to escape from somewhere. the way Orion thinks and acts is terrifying and the pain that was inflicted on Talia was uncomfortable at best.
there was also the introduction of Madoc in this. he has his own POV chapters which leads me to think he’s another potential mate for Talia. even after finishing the book, i’m not sure where my heart lies with him. on one hand, the way he sympathises and excuses Orion doesn’t sit right with me. but i also know he’s a product of the environment he was raised in… so we’ll see.
and i ain’t miss that little bit at the end there… Talia telling Corwin she didn’t care that she was fertile? and not just sleeping with him but all four of them??? i know miss girl is gonna be so damn pregnant by the end of this series
Talia struggled being in the hands of the Murk but Madoc made it tolerable. He first reached out to try to seduce her as per his kings request but her did have genuine affection for her seeing her struggles and strength from watching her for months in the fae realms. Talia tried reaching out to Whitt a few times using his true name because her bond to Corwin was cut off. She tried to escape a few times unsuccessfully and got caught by the king of Murk. After the treatment he was going to put her through Madoc couldn’t let it happen so he freed her and snuck her out of the Murk place when everyone was sleeping. MADOC GAVE TALIA A BRIEF KISS BEFORE LETTING HER GO!!! I have a feeling another mate is going to join her harem of men or he will just adore her from afar. Anyways she was able to hide away while the Murk were looking for her and thanks to finally being outside her connection to Corwin came back and he went to grab her from where she was hiding in Germany. She reunited with all 4 of her mates and told them about the plans the Murk had and where her power came from.

The twist of twists no one saw coming. Talia who is one of the best heroines around, just ended up in the worst of the worst situations she never dreamed could happen, again. She is separated from the life she was just getting her head wrapped around and finding her way to deciding that was the life she wanted. Until the Murk showed up. She has to start from ground zero and figure out a way, again. She is such a courageous person, a diplomate, but also knows she may not get things done with just talking either. Talia’s guys take a back seat in this installment, but I was glad they were still part of the story and even becoming more of a team as they search for her. Just when you think there cannot possibly be any steam in this book, think again. A great job of keeping up the heat even when it seems impossible. Another excellent read in this ongoing saga and I highly recommend to read the entire series. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.
This book was noticeable slower than the previous one in the series. Completely understandable, since just like when Talia first stayed in the Winter lands, she has a whole new world, culture and people to meet and get to know. Unlike her trip to the Winter lands, her visit to the Murk's hideout was not a consensual one. But here we finally meet her 5th mate, although things don't go as well as they could. With her safety up in the air, missing her mates terribly and worried about all the fae that would be succumbing to their curses while she's not there to help, Talia does all she can to get back to the fae of the seasons and their world. This may be a slower read than the others, but that only enhances the utter desperation that is conveyed in every POV throughout the story. Dreading the end of this series, I want so many more tales from these characters. 😍
Talia has proven to be a resourceful little warrior throughout this entire series. Able to adapt and ultimately overcome the many challenges she has faced. Her strength and honesty have shaped the narrative and brought it to life. Being kidnapped by the Murk, forced to cooperate, stripped of her dignity and cut off from everything she has come to love, Talia still manages to find it in her to look beyond the obvious. Seeing bits of herself in the very beings who are holding her captive. We are finding answers to some of the mysteries in this adventure but we are faced with new ones as well. I love how Ms Eva is able to find new and inventive ways to bring this story to life. There are some explicit scenes but this book definitely does not disappoint! Can’t wait for the next one to see what happens next!
Bought on Kindle and Audible. Decent length on Audible. Contination of series, with a HEA, though some serious suspense and threat along the way!
As with all books by Eva Chase (or Eva Chance) it is exemplary! Hot, yet developed realtionshisp and all characters totally unique. Huge respect to male narrator on Audible for managing this across five men, plus of course the additional characters. All easily idenitifable as soon as he speaks as them.
This series did seem to last forever, and I have to say has had me in tears several times - to the extent I was unsure whether I could go on at several points through the prior books... I don't like it! I like a bit of stress, occasionally, not this heart ache and terror and bad guys so bad you want to run away (or throw your Kindle or ear buds away!).
Book 7 picks up right after the end of book 6 as Talia's men realize what has happened. This book is rough in its treatment of Talia and contrasts highly when compared to the joy they were finally getting to feel in the last book. We finally get to meet the Murk Fae and they are much like their winter and summer brethren- some good, some bad, some evil. Orion provides a whole different level to what has passed in the previous 6 books - someone has been busy. As some burning questions are answered more pop up. How much is truth and how much are lies as Murk are able to lie? I am eager to read book 8 to see what happens next! I received an advanced copy of this story and am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
While this was definitely a change of pace and a rather dramatic change from the rest of the series thus far, Lies of Murk feels a bit too different to blend in easily. I appreciate the complexity the Murk adds to the narrative, but I couldn't connect with most of it. There were more minor issues for me in this book than major ones. Little things like Talia's arms getting tired super quickly, despite her having years of muscle built up. However, the biggest thing for me is how little I care about Madoc. I get that we're building a harem of differences, but there was no connection there. Not for me, anyway. The entire community just felt like a flat dream, but hopefully they get more rounded in the rest of the series.
Plowing through the final books of this series. The addition of Madoc, while not yet a mate since they are only dreaming about each other and not acting on anything except for that escape kiss, is frustrating because the MFC falls for any man who shows her an ounce of decency. I'm all for building the slow burn romance for a fifth lover, but she's with Corwin because she sort of has to be with the soul twined mate thing that amps up the desire and she's already trauma bonded to her first three lovers, and so seeing the intro of Madoc as the fifth (and then realizing it will take a whole additional book to solidify him within the reverse harem) makes the series feel unnecessarily drug out. And again, so unspicy for a reverse harem!
I’m glad I pushed through and finished the series because I feel like the last three books had a lot more going on, and it wasn’t just repeating the same things over and over again. I will say there was a major pet peeve for me in this set of books though. To me when an rh group is already set then no other character should be added to that group. I do get why it happened in the book, but still, I’m not the biggest fan of it. There was also a major TW in the book that I didn’t see a warning for (which it might not have been included since I read the bound version of the book, or I just missed it) but loss of a pregnancy is in this. I thought overall it was a good series but a lot longer than it should have been. Glad I read it but it’s one I won’t read again.
Talia has been kidnapped by the Murk, the cruelest and most despised of the fae. She finds out about her family history and how she became the curse breaker. It is not a pretty story not is the way her life has been manipulated by the Murk. Talia tries to see the best in everyone, but she is having a hard time doing that with their leader. This is a great story and answers many questions about Talia. I look forward to the next book in this series. Eva Chase is a brilliant writer.
I receives an ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
The Murk are finally here!! I have no idea why but since the first time they were mentioned and introduced I was really curious about these fae without a place in The Mist. Where did they live? How do tjye work? Are they really as weak as the Seelie and Unseelie think? Those questions are answered after Talia's abduction. Talia can't get a second for herself to breathe or celebrate with her mates. She nows has to find a way to escape, find her way back to her mates and warn them about the Murk. I am already rooting for Madoc with only a single book with him and I am so eager to see him meet Sylas, Witt, August and Corwin. Speaking of them, I love seeing them four without Talia she is the cement between them but this book showed that they would do anything for her, they needed to bond all together and I loved every single scenes they shared.
It seemed like Talia's life was settling down, only she is grabbed by an enemy that they didn't expect. Can her men find her? What secrets is Talia yet to learn? Is Talia going to suffer or will her men find her quickly? Can she trust any of the Murk? I enjoyed this continuation of Talia and her men (Sylas, Corwin, Whitt and August), the new challenges they had to face, and I am waiting for what happens next. I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received, and giving my thoughts and opinions on it.
Talia has been through so much and right when you think she might get her happy ending, the Murks come into the picture with their own agenda. They really are a bunch of azz-hats! 😡 All around so much fighting/betrayal, can't they all just get along?? Let some folks have their HEA already?!? Then a dun, dun, dun moment is to find out that they had a hand in her own making!?! Ugh! Getting really good, folks! On to the next! #HappyReading 💖
I received an Advance Reading Copy from the Author via BookFunnel for an honest review.
