A scorchingly hot lesbian romance When Kat Kerrigan is dumped and fired by her ice queen boss in one text, she does the sensible thing. She puts out the call on the group chat and drowns her sorrows with her friends — but things get weird, later that night when she drunkenly stumbles on a mysterious woman who might be a witch and that witch offers her the power to curse someone. Kat doesn’t believe in curses, but a few months later her ex Stella Steel is suffering a terrible run of bad luck and Kat is still not over the love of her life. Did Kat curse her glamorous ex? Or is there a simpler explanation?
• Cursed: A lesbian romance (Kiss Me Quick) • Edie Marr • Kat Kerrigan aka Kathryn • Stella Steel • Ice Queen • Cursed is a lesbian romance novel set in the seaside city of Brighton, UK with two compelling heroines, an age gap, a thawing ice queen, a heartwarming happy ending and a tiny dash of magic.
After a traumatic breakup & canning, Kat tries to drink away her pain with her good pals. When the night wraps up she finds herself on the beach saving an old woman’s dog. The old woman asks Kat if she wants a blessing, but sees the pain resonating off Kat. Kat believes after her conversation with this old woman that she’s a witch who has put a curse on her ex Stella. The days, even the months that follow it would seem that the married ice queen definitely is cursed. She faces nothing but problems after she dumped Kat.
You learn Stella has been married for 20 years, and has the reputation of a serial cheater. Kat cannot seem to let her feelings for Stella go. Kat keeps herself busy with two jobs. Occasional drag queen by night and waitress by day, at a restaurant right next previous place of employment. Elise and Alisha who own the restaurant where Kat works, bring a dramatic flare to this book. While reading I kept wondering what was really going on with Elise.
I hated Stella through 90% of this book. The author does an amazing job of making her the supreme ice queen.
The supporting characters are very well written and Kat’s friend Nish is a doll. The authors descriptive writing about Brighton, makes you want to fly to England today. She really made it come alive in the story. You can tell the author is very fond of where she lives.
The sex scenes are fire. ❤️🔥
I found the little twists, the wit in this book to be perfect. The way the author wrapped up everything at the end was amazing. It was nice to watch the ice queen melt a bit. It’s an age – gap which is my personal favorite.
You do not want to miss this book.
I highly recommend the book. It’s a fairly new release, don’t pass it up! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Not read anything from this writer so did not know what to expect. This was a quirky interesting story. Not something I normally would read. I wanted to put it down but couldn’t. I needed to see where this scenario went. There was a lot going on but in the end it was good.
So, I think one can only truly enjoy this story if they understand from the very beginning that ESH and I mean EVERYONE, even Nish (okay, maybe not Alisha). This level things, balancing the arsehole-ness, making the events more fair and enjoyable.
Even with this in mind, after reading a few chapters one may think, "wait, maybe things aren't what they send to be...", wrong! they are exactly what they look like haha. And for some fucked up reason I liked it all the same. (I guess I need therapy too?)
At first, I thought that Stella was really shit for firing/dumping Kat the way she did, but then I soon learnt about Kat actions as well and I can't feel sorry for anyone about anything. Like wow, you people are rich! But these two deserve each other, in every way possible, good and bad. Whatever happens to them in the future, they had it coming haha. Alec is living proof of that. But I do hope they only have good coming. Go figure
Everyone needs therapy here, it'd be the more sensible thing to do.
A final thought, even with all the fuckery going on, all the blood boiling and indignant thoughts crossing my mind I think it was quite an enjoyable reading and being sort of short made it worth the hassle. AND I'd like to see their "after HEA/HFN".
I went into this expecting a very silly, spicy, lesbian romp — and that's exactly what I got!
Marr did a great job making Stella Steel the iciest of ice queens, and our poor MC Kat Kerrigan was utterly head over heels, drunk in love with her.
After being dumped and fired by her boss/ lover in the same text, Kat finds herself drunkenly requesting a curse be placed on our steel hearted love interest.
A series of mishaps proceeds to follow Stella as our pair inevitably keep running into, and slipping into, one another, and Kat starts questioning if perhaps she really did curse her.
Kat was sweet, energetic character, if a little naïve, but I felt she really grew into herself. I even eventually started warming to Stella by the end, though she still was pretty awful. But Kat takes her for exactly who she is, and at the end of the day, that's love isn't it?
It was silly, spicy and just all round an easy and fun story. It's a quick read for a lazy afternoon when you fancy something light and entertaining!
A delightfully stupid book in the best way. This was a funny little story, which had just enough depth to not be forgettable. The mystery of the curse is engaging and the romance is hot. With the Brighton beachfront as a backdrop, this was an absolutely amazing beach read.
It also took me an embarrassingly long time to realize what was really fishy about the curse.
A delightful and smutty read if you're into f/f and power dynamics at work. It doesn't follow the structure of a traditional romance (though it does have a HEA, of course) but is a ton of fun to read.
I loved both of the books in this series. I can’t wait to see what else Edie Marr comes up with in future books. The characters are really likeable. The stories are really hot if you like erotic reading I definitely recommend both books
Stella Steel, the love interest, is a habitual adulterer who sleeps with and then fires her employees; she broke up with and fired Kat, the other FMC, in the same text. I'm not interested in any HEA that involves her. She’s also consistently referred to by her full name. The phrase "Stella Steel" is used 142 times in a 182 page book; I just couldn't take it any more.
