Soft and relaxing. Now I know how to describe clouds, although I struggled to keep up with the latin names at first. The mindfulness presented in this book is for the most part made up of questions and suggestions for reflection rather than a push to empty your mind. It suggests thinking about those things while watching the clouds fly by. As someone who has never been able to connect with mindfulness, these felt like relaxation strategies rather than "true" mindfulness.
Overall, it was a quick, enjoyable read, but my favourite part about it was that it rekindled my childhood fascination with clouds.
a beautiful piece on such an overlooked part of nature, cloud spotting was a very enjoyable read. the descriptions of the clouds reminded me of 6th grade science when we learned about cumulonimbus clouds and several other varieties. schreiner balances the latin terminologies and relation to mindfulness very well; and, coupled with jeger’s illustrations, paints a great visualization of each cloud type. definitely will have to through each of the 10 major cloud types again, but a great, quick read.
A lovely and approachable introduction to naming and appreciating clouds. May verge toward hokey at points, but what mindfulness writing doesn't? I appreciate the mix of science, practical tips for spotting, narrative examples, and guided mindfulness prompts. I'll definitely think about this book next time I'm looking into the sky.
Honestly loved this. I have a fascination with clouds and really implore you guys too. It’s so fun being able to look up and name clouds, they’re beautiful too. Very short book which gives you a great and quick overview of the main clouds and how to spot them.
