This was much shorter than I thought it would be. And I am usually very critical on books like this, however, I did very much enjoy the adventures of Huey 'Huge' Johnson (Note the sarcasm.). He is just a sick, perverted puppy. Not an actual puppy. They're cute and cuddly. You get it. Anyway, so you hate this person and what he does to his victim, but then the tables are turned in a very satisfying way. You hear of feeling bloodlust? You'll get that here. So it is definitely splatterpunk worthy, but not as extreme as some of the things I've read prior. The gore factor was on point and if I had to further classify this story, it'd be a body horror subgenre. I did want a lot more from various parts of the book, and its brevity did affect the overall impact of everything. Specifically, I felt like the ending was a bit of a rush to the finish sort of explanation of how the victim escaped and orchestrated the attack on Huey. And all of the lead up to the finale, and all of the hideous things done to Mr. Johnson, but we didn't get anything about him existing in his new life. There could have been a few additional chapters where he lives his new life feeling some sort of resentment, or display of how he is permanently altered and angry. So while I did enjoy everything, I would have very much liked to see it all more developed. On the excerpt from PGAD....yikes! Very graphic and sexual, and yet it intrigued me enough to want to see more of that particular tale, too. So for my first outing with Sea Caummisar, I can honestly say that I dig her style and look forward to reading more from her collection.
Ok holy Fuck if you want a quick brutal and I mean a brutal fucked up revenge story like you've never read before holy shit this one's for you. Sea Caummisar fucking bringing the brutality hard in this one seriously I cringed and was just like what the fuck though this whole story. I also will probably never look at a fruit slicer the same ever again. 5 dark silent stars from me.
Huey is a small guy who is unable to feel physical pain from a medical condition he has. He works as a body piercer mainly due to seeing peoples expressions when dealing with pain. Shoving needles in dicks then asking customers, how does it feel? People think Huey is lucky that he doesn't feel pain. Huey strongly DISAGREES. Huey keeps women in his basement to experiment on them, to try to understand what it feels like to suffer pain. He begs them as he violently tortures them, describe it he commands over and over until they pass out. Huey also fights professionally. He regularly goes to hospital for broken bones, stitches, internal bleeding. Huey is going to have a bad bad day. He will feel mental pain. Pain in his own body of no speaking, hearing, seeing.
Harsh, brutal, extreme revenge is what this read is full off. If you take away every sense and you are butchered beyond belief what are you left with. Huge never feels pain, no matter how much he is tortured. The end results are all that matters to his new nurses. But does he feel any pain? Great short read loved the plot and the b bonding of terror . Definitely recommend.
Oh my F**king God...this was an awesome read... revenge at it's very best. Annie and Lily sure knew how to inflict a different kind of pain...without feeling it! If you want to know more then you will have to read this book...Sea Caummisar writes short novels with a bloody great punch behind them. This book will mess with your mind...it was brutal and gory....you have been warned in advance!!!
Two super rare conditions. How will the main characters handle what they've been dealt with?
Huey works at a tattoo shop. In his free time, he likes to experiment. He has an obsession. He’s willing to go to any lengths to find the answers to his question.
“The odds of being born with this disease is 1 in 125 million.”.
I really enjoyed this one. I love a good revenge tale. I also really enjoyed the bonus story at the end.
The author always does an amazing job at ruining kitchen appliances for me. 🤣 There are certain ones I will never be able to look at the same again. She does an awesome job at making me cringe all the way through each of her stories, but I can't look away!
It was decent. A quick read, very brutal. Had me squirming a few times. I liked that the author included a note about their research into the disease and their inspiration for writing the story. I enjoy reading about unique physical and psychological anomalies.
I could predict that this would become a revenge story (which isn’t a bad thing), and I also kinda had an issue with the fact that yeah, it was technically revenge but he really didn’t feel any of it. But, being trapped like that could arguably be worse than torture, so I don’t know. It wasn’t really lacking anything. It was just decent. I wished we knew what happened to him after, but I guess that could be up to our interpretation.
3.5 stars, better than average but not my favorite.
this was such a quick read and holy fu** so extreme.
brutal revenge story... yup this is one of the genre i'm devouring these days lol. i love sea caummisar's short stories. i can read it all day if i have the time-- plus some of her works are available in KU and i got lucky since i just got back (i renewed my KU subs) 🤣
and the author's note in the last few pages, lmao this was supposed to be a love story LOL 🤣 I can't imagine Huey with Annie, the nurse together. ok anyway ....
very fast paced story. brutal and extremely horrifying. and that short story PGAD? i was so hurt just by reading the 13-paged short story lmao
This is a wonderful addition to this thrilling series! Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start. Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable. Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story. Such a thrilling read that I couldn't put it down. Can't wait to read more of these. Recommend reading.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Wow, sea Caummisar holds nothing back with her writing, and this one holds to form, It's a really brutal and entertaining read about a man who is trying to get an in-depth answer for how pain feels....... other than painful, as you can guess there will be some challenges answering that one. I loved the direction that the story took and it completely snuck up on me. Another great book from this awesome author.
Wow what a read for this person to not feel pain he definitely went through so much of if. And to be honest at the end of this story I felt sorry for Huey. And I got mix feelings for who was the bad one at the end of all this ordeal. And the short story that comes with was just a bonus to read.
Holy crap this was a suprise read. This author is the master of revenge torture which is why I’m her #1,2,3 fan lol. The concept for this was so utterly satisfying I loved it!!! Thank you
This freaked me out the way the video for Metallicas One freaked me out when I was a kid. Good job. Definitely one of the few “extreme” books that have actually got to me !
Great read it male revenge and torture. Huey used women as experiments. When the tables were turned and now he was used as the experimental subject pain was soon a reality.
This is the only story I've read by Sea that I didn't really enjoy. I felt so sorry for Hugh I had trouble finishing the story. Whatever he'd done he didn't deserve what was done to him. That said it's one of the most original stories I've read in a long time
meh. very shock-focused horror obviously, and i like that it had some semblance of a plot. ending was predictable but its okay. i wouldn't read it again but id like to read more from the author. just gross on the horror front, but not as horrendous as I had initially expected.
As always a great quick read!! Always a disgusting feast of a read from Sea!! Creative and imaginary stories are always top notch!!! I really enjoyed the bonus short story at the end: PGAD This is definitely one of the top books that gets you clenching your legs together. Haha. Have a good read!!
I always enjoy Sea's horror... This was an interesting read! You'll enjoy her writing! Check it out! Looking forward to your next "Raised by a killer" book!
Enjoyable short read of a person's rare disease turned against them, and a nice surprise bonus short story of another uncommon disease. Both were good ^_^
Huey will never give another piercing again, Rose and Ava never read or watched Johnny Got His Gun, but I will read more extreme horror from this author.
