Subtitled "The Feast," this is the penultimate volume of a manga series by Shūzō Oshimi I have been reading off and on for years. Though it is really well drawn, and relies on the images to carry the story in a way I like, it just gets bloodier and bloodier, even in black and white, and I couldn't spend a lot of time with it. It was just a little bit too much for me tonight. This is not your cuddly little romantic or even comic vamp story; it's real horror. I mean, sometimes when you have too much stress in your life, as I do today, you need something like My Little Ponies and not Sakurane, a vampire blood cult monster.
I know you bloodthirsty horror fans will think I'm a wimp, but there it is. Okay, I'll suck it up (pun on The Feast! Good one!) and read the last volume! Okazaki is back after several years of being drugged (for a decade?!) into oblivion. So maybe some kind of happy resolution is in store for us? Hey, maybe there will be unicorns!?
