Pillars: A Wayfarer’s Hearth

Rate this book
Stories of holy pilgrimages, transformative journeys & revelatory voyages

Come rest by the hearth’s fire and warm yourself, now that your travels are at an end.

The night is long, and we are in no hurry. This is a time for reflection, to think back on where you have been – and where it has led you to.

Whether you have crossed oceans or deserts, wound your way through labyrinthine cities or long-forgotten ghost towns, followed untrodden paths or the pilgrim’s well-worn way – you are no longer the same, and you have wisdom to share.

This is the Wayfarer’s Hearth: a gathering of voices and a recollection of transformative spiritual journeys.

The last installment of the seven "Pillars" by Anathema Publ. is probably also the best out of the series. This is due to the initiatory, often very personal nature of the accounts collected here. Only one text here deviates from that and it is at the same time the weakest. It is worth mentioning that it exclusively deals with books and the journeys through them, whereas all the other essays have the true, lived experience of the outer cum inner world as focus. The typical travel destinations here still is India, but we also get to visit Peru and the british moors among others. A worthy finale, coming full circle with its topic of initiation and beginnings.
