After Midnight: #3 in the Sex. Die. Repeat series

Rate this book
Fresh from his re-education, Nick hasn’t really learned his lesson. Reporting to his superior Abe again, Nick boasts about getting one over on his ex Kali.

Abe decides to get one over on Nick, instead. He gives him his new assignment – seduce and kill the enigmatic Raquel, a super-rich businesswoman in the city.

Travelling down to the mortal realm, Nick takes the body of a man he’s sure will attract Raquel. He doesn’t have to wait long: that Friday night after work she appears in the bar, soaking up the attentions of all the men in the place.

Nick finds Raquel an easy seduction … too easy!

Too late, Nick discovers Raquel is not what she seems. Horrified and on a countdown, he realises he’s really met his match.

Even worse, Abe breaks it to Nick he has just one night to complete his mission … He has just three goes to get it right.

Nick must seduce Raquel by daylight or risk being rubbed out of existence by the big boss downstairs.

AFTER MIDNIGHT is a break-neck, speedy time loop story where the tables have turned: women are in charge and men are their unwitting prey.

This story is strictly for adults only. It contains highly sexual content, as well as depictions of strangulation, stabbing, bondage and dubious consent.

BLOG TOUR REVIEW

Review for 'After Midnight' by Mia Ryder.

Read and reviewed for ZooLoos Book Tours, Mia Ryder and SpellBound publishers.

Publication date 24th December 2021.

This is the third book I have read by this author. It is also the third book in Mia Ryder's 'Sex, Die, Repeat' series but can be read as a standalone. I have also read the first book in this series 'Little Deaths' and second book 'Re-education' which I would recommend.

I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and intriguing synopsis and title. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Spellbound. I have yet to read a book published by Spellbound books that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).

This is a novella so can be read in one sitting.

This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonist is Nick. The benefits of third person perspective are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.

'Re-education' discusses some topics that may trigger some readers or may not be suitable for others. I like to point this out ahead of time in my reviews so you can judge if this book is for you or not. In this book Mia discusses/includes highly sexual content, as well as depictions of strangulation, stabbing, bondage and dubious consent so would advise readers of the age of 18 and above only.

This book is the third book in the 'Sex, Die, Repeat' series by Mia Ryder but it can be read as a standalone. In this book we see the sex demon Nick fall from his boss Abe's good books and he has been sent on a mission to seduce the murderess Raquel, who murders men during sex, and obtain her eternal soul for Hell. Nick is told by his boss Abe that if he fails he will not be sent to Level One as Nick expects but will be wiped from all existence. In this book Hell has Three levels. When you first enter you are put into Level One where you are tortured and killed continuously. Most never leave this level. The few who do then go onto Level Two and become demons, in Kali and Nick's case sex demons. Level Three is for The Prince Of Darkness himself along with his wife and the Four Horsemen Of The Apocalypse. This story tells us how Nick meets Raquel on several occasions and tries to seduce her. It is a supernatural horror filled with sex, torture and demons. It is very well written and the storyline isn't just about sex but is actually very intriguing and sounds just like what Hell would be. The author has a fantastic and vivid imagination and this is reflected perfectly in the storyline. It is only 27 pages so can be read in less than an hour and perfect for an adults only bedtime story. The three books in this series have definitely left me wanting more and I cannot wait to dive into the fourth book in the series 'Downtime' that looks just as intriguing.

Overall a gothic sex filled horror filled with torture and pleasure that will leave you wanting more!

Genres covered in this book include Novella, Romance, Gothic, Adult Fiction and Erotica amongst others.

I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of anyone who loves gothic horror and is always left wanting more.

27 pages.

This book is just 78p to purchase on kindle via Amazon which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!

Rated 4 /5 (I enjoyed it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

I think this is my favourite so far! It has a storyline I would love to have expanded. It has enough sizzle to create a small blush on your face and an interesting twist in the proverbial tale.

It doesn’t take long to read these books and I am loving the fact we follow Nick. If this was ever a real thing, I might call upon Nick 😉

Being less than 30 pages long the book needs to capture your attention straight away and it does. I am straight in the zone with Nick as he has to figure out how to get out of the mess that Abe joyfully put him in as Abe is not playing fair.

As I said I love the storyline of this one. It was interesting to see how Nick solved his quandary and how rude would we go. Well, you need to read it to find out 😉 This one definitely is the epitome of the series name!

Looking to see what Nick gets up to in Downtime. Literally.

The third book in the Sex.Die.Repeat series, After Midnight: Bitesize filth to devour before bed. Is another novella thats under thirty pages long and is a perfect 'bedtime read' for adults, off course.
This book is my favourite up to now of the three that I have read, closely followed by number two. We follow Nick (yay!) Fresh from book three and deciding to boast about Kali. His superior Abe gives him an assignment...one that may not be quite the slam dunk he is expecting.
The challenge a novella has in comparison with a novel is that a novella has to grip you in the first page and Mia Ryder has found the formula. I was back with Nick straight away as he tries to discover a way to extricate his way out of the mess that Abe happily placed him in.
If you are after the sexy, well, this is the book. I did wonder how far this one would go, well I found out and you can too. I could have read two hundred more pages more and still wanted more!
Anyone who enjoys a steamy, sexy story filled with torture and pleasure as well, will love this book (or series). I am looking forward to Downtime next.

Nick has made it through but now had to prove himself to Abe to be allowed back to class A status. He meets the dangerous Raquel and realises that his task won't be as easy as he thought.
A lot more steamy moments than the last one but I didn't feel the pull between the two characters the same this time.
Interested to see where Hell takes Nick next!
