Gina Pontin is hellbent on having a perfect church wedding. She’ll go to any extreme to ensure it happens. Meanwhile, the men of Mapton are dismayed to find all their town’s women falling under the spell of the handsome new vicar. Big trouble is brewing, for sure.
With a dress made by a drag queen, flowers styled by an enemy, and a singing dog stealing attention, will Gina’s big day be more pantomime than fairy tale wedding?
One thing is sure - in Mapton on Sea anything can happen.
Sam Maxfield attempted to write her first full-length novel at eleven. She grew up in Canada and England. She moved seven times before she was eight years old and spent much of that time in her own imagination spinning stories. Sam holds a BA in English and History, as well as an MA in Creative Writing. She taught English Literature for twenty years and still runs creative writing workshops.
More than anything Sam loves stories. She devours most genres, fiction and non-fiction. She is currently finishing the last book in the Mapton-on-Sea trilogy: The Last Resort, Mapton Rising, and Make it Mapton.
Previous novels include the magic-realism Western, West of the Sunset, Victorian detective story The Army of Righteous Deliverance, and Maddie's Magic Christmas, her first book for children. She is a contributor to various magazines and newspapers.
I cannot get enough of this series of books. Once you forgive some of the odd spellings and grammar, you are transported once again into a marvellous magical world of Mapton and the wonderful characters who live there. This is yet another rollercoaster of humour and emotions that just should be made into a sitcom or film. Absolutely amazing!
Theses book as are literary gold to me, funny, endearing and really let you escape for as long as you are reading them. Thank you Sam, you are one talented lady.
The Mapton books are a joy. I couldn't put the book I was reading down. I love each and every character. Sure h a great read. Thank you for writing them
