I must break this unbreakable bond… no matter the cost.
The last thing I want is surly Knox taking our accidental mate-bond out on me. It’s not like I asked to be bonded to the one man who wants nothing to do with me. But he won’t even talk to me and the aching emptiness of his rejection is eating away at my soul.
Why couldn’t I have bonded to his brother, Bishop? He’s kind and sweet and there’s something between us. I can feel it every time our eyes meet.
But I can’t do more than look. Sleeping with my bond-mate’s brother can only end badly. For us all. Especially not now when we’ve found the one slim chance to break this cursed bond. A slim chance I’m willing to stake our lives on. Even if it means traveling through a treacherous wasteland, fighting off dangerous monsters, and casting a spell that could kill us.
I can’t fight this mate-bond forever and soon I’ll give in to the torturous desire. The spell is my only hope…
Because there are some things worse than death.
Wolf Denied is the second book in the Ensnared by the Pack series, an action-packed paranormal romance featuring possessive wolf shifters and a wounded heroine discovering her strength who doesn’t have to choose.
Loved Wolf Deceived, but Wolf Denied reads like something that should have been added to the end of Deceived or the beginning of Wolf Desired. There is only one goal that Denied sets off to accomplish -break the bond between Knox and Audrey- and it is the only thing Denied accomplishes - at the literal end of the book. The treacherous and exciting journey teased in Deceived turns out to be a boring miscommunication fest that takes forever to get through. It even rehashes the scene where Audrey risks her puny self to save a child, and the guys react the same way as in Deceived. In terms of her standing with the guys, Audrey only gets closer to Bishop, while the other two remain as distant from her as ever. I don't even know what Wolf Desired could possibly contain in terms of plot, seeing how Denied basically takes care of the overarching issue and suffers from a lack of drama and tension.
Again another great addition to the series. The characters were given depth and her relationship with Bishop is set up. Hate cliffhangers, but I can’t wait till the next book!
3 stars, more of the same except now there is one of my least favorite book scenes - camping, walking for days and sex. It’s always unbelievable. Have these authors camped for days and had sex? Ew. I have not and even I know better. I’ve hiked enough to know better that is :)
More negative self talk and no, they haven’t talked about anything productive, like why Knox wants to be separated from her so bad, or there is a Plan B or just anything that might help heal the giant hole in her heart.
Moving to the next one- spoilers- The spell that they cast after 9 days of walking doesn’t work. It remains to be seen what it did do though! Other than more “heat”. It’s Cyrus next I hope!
WARNING! Cliffhanger! This one is a pretty big one, and rates a 4/5 on my trauma scale.
In the hopes of breaking the forced bond between her and Knox, Audrey travels with him, Bishop and Cyrus, to the land of a Death god. The journey is filled with dangers, while Audrey herself is suffering through her heat, fortunately she has a willing helper in Bishop…
The story picks up where the last one left off, and we see the three alpha brothers take their troublesome charge through some tough land in search of answers. They have a number of adventures, and the spice level rises a little because of Audrey’s heat. It’s a fast paced read, despite taking place over a week or so, and there is quite a bit of action involved, as well as a few steamy scenes. It’s an enthralling read, and the cliffhanger is definitely a “what the…?” moment. Audrey is still battling her angst, but I love the positivity she possesses, even in the face of adversity, which makes this a fairly upbeat story, despite all the downs she experiences. An enjoyable RH fantasy, it’s not a standalone and is best enjoyed by those RH fans who loved the first book.
I think this story has some really great potential, but there were some parts in this that frustrated me.
I know Audrey and Knox ended up with a mating bond and that’s it’s driving her to complete the bond with him. On top of that she seems to be entering her heat. I understand that the whole point of the story is to break the bond, but what was slightly frustrating was that Audrey constantly thinks about sex and how riled up she is. That’s all her inner thoughts revolve around.
I’m also slightly confused as to the connection to Audrey. Why does Bishop like her? He’s mentioned that he’s attracted to her but that’s about it. Also why do all of their wolves want her? Is it a really mate bond?
I’m not a huge fan of how Knox and Cyrus treat her. I hope they do a lot of groveling and she doesn’t instantly forgive them.
I’m kind of bummed that this is dragging on. Finally something good happens and then the book is over. Cliffhangers don’t bother me, but when nothing happened in the book and then it finally gets good right at the end and cuts of that stinks.
I want nothing more than to give Audrey a hug because she deserves one—or twenty. Bishop holds my heart with his unwavering admiration of Audrey. Poor Knox, he’s been through so much, but I also want to shake him for the way that he continues to hurt Audrey. And don’t even get me started on Cyrus. The only one that deserves her is Bishop, though I’m looking forward to the other two earning their place by her side. What a great story Tessa has woven here, and I can’t wait to continue onto the third book. Because I need to know what happens next. I can’t help but wonder if we’ll ever see Audrey’s wolf, and if we’ll finally get to see just how powerful she is. Because I have no doubt that she is, and I think being in this new world will make her even more so. Loving this series and I can’t wait to read more.
Well Knox is furious that Audrey somehow snares him in a mate bond- something his nearly feral and antisocial self refuses to accept. Thus he, his twin Bishop and older brother, Cyrus are leading Audrey on a multi-day trek to the shrine to the dead god in the attempt to break the binding.
Along the way Audrey spends time with Bishop, the kind brother. Knox refuses to leave his wolf form and pointedly avoids Audrey and Cyrus is exasperated as Audrey has no wilderness or survival skills at all and is nothing but a liability to their small group.
The trip is long and hard, full of bloody blisters on her feet as she refuses to slow the men down. Unfortunately, her delayed bonding to Knox has her going into an extended and extremely painful heat. Could her shy virginal soul dare seek release from Bishop even if her body is demanding Knox take possession of her?
This was the second book in the series, and I enjoyed getting to know the male main characters more. I do wish we could learn more about Knox and the reasons behind his antisocial behavior. Additionally, Bishop is an exceptionally kind and caring individual. Cyrus finds himself in a difficult situation, torn between his feelings for Audrey and the knowledge of the potential mistreatment she may face due to her lack of a wolf. His self-sacrificing nature is admirable. As we learn more about Audrey, it becomes increasingly difficult not to feel sympathy for her. I sincerely hope she finds an opportunity for retribution. The book concludes on an uncertain note, leaving readers eager for the next installment.
Heartwrenchingly real at times. The emotions that Tessa Cole made me feel as I was reading made me want to shake all 4 main characters and slap them for being so clueless... I know that she wrote them like normal people being clueless to how other people are feeling rather than "all knowing" as some authors make them. I enjoyed the uniqueness of each character and I love living in their world. This book did evera second book should do, expand the characters and the world they live in and make the reader connected to the story, the world and the characters. Thank you, well worth 5 stars in my opinion.
This is barely a 3-star read. The word "heaved" is used so freaking much (22 times in book 3 and 28 times in book 6 as an example). That seems like such a small thing, but once you notice it you can't stop seeing it. I need synonyms please. The FMC doesn't actually show consistent, solid strength until book 6 - I DNF at 44% and she still didn't have a wolf and still hadn't mated her last guy. So my fears from book 3 were confirmed: The ending was rushed. The pacing of this series is terrible. The events are all pretty much filler, this could have been a trilogy and been better off.
By far the worst series I've read from this author and that is so disappointing.
This whole book was basically the journey to the death gods temple to break the mate bond. She has defended kids against monsters twice now and even killed one once. She is strong and determined. Her and know were sharing dreams where they had sex and he could sense her wolf, somehow Bishop had also been there. She had her heat and was struggling the whole time. Then Bishop told her he would share her and the mate bond with Knox. They had sex, ending her virginity and her heat. They get to the temple and the painful magic fills her. Will the bond break?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book is mainly walking, so be prepared for that going in. Audrey is brave, though and I like her. Aside from Bishop, I need the other two to get their acts together. My main issue with this series, though is that it is reminiscent of the Nephilim series in that the heroine experiences the rejected bond in the same way, though the circumstances are different. I want to know how they'll all get past this because their communication sucks.
So, I found the previous book a bit slow going. I get it was setting the stage for the series, but I still felt it dragged on a bit. This book, however, definitely picked up in speed. A journey, getting to know one of the brothers better, them getting to know HER better, and so on.
It definitely ends on a cliffhanger, so I'm diving into the next book right now!
Awesome book! The plot was action packed and filled the pages to make an easy read. I loved how the fmc kinda grew a back bone in this book. I loved the multiple POV’s. I am praying she gets her wolf soon! I suspect maybe she’s more important than anyone can imagine and I can’t Wait to read about it!
Omg! Once again Tessa has done it! She keeps you on the edge of your seat by the end of the book. You get so sucked into the story that you don’t realize she’s leading you right into a cliffhanger of an ending until it’s too late. I do love that each book truly feels like a continuation of the previous one.
I read this series back to back to back and waited too long to review so this is a whole series review. I don't think I've ever read a shifter romance before this one? I mean, I've read PNR & why choose with shifters in it but not one dedicated solely to shifter romance tropes. While I think fae and vampires still hold my heart captive, I did find this series to be entertaining.
Ahh the ending left you needing more. This book was definitely better than the first, I just love Bishop he is so sweet and so is Audrey. I cannot wait to see what happens next.
This is fantastic novel about mates this is fantastic and a real page turner. I love each character personality. Each character is different and all the woman or young female need.
The story is entrancing but the journey is excruciating. The main female's character is in need of an upgrade. I realise that it is integral to the plot overall but am hopeful that she gets a boost sooner rather than later.
Bishop is the best, softest marshmallow that ever was and I adore him. Cyrus is the opposite and I don't like him. Know and Audrey, I want to drag them both to therapy, wrap them and in blankets and cuddle them while telling them they are loved.
I love Bishop! The plot and inner monologues feel very, very repetitive. I keep waiting for something to happen, but instead it’s just her feeling horny and angsty. Bishop is the only thing keeping me going.
Not much happens growth wise. Audrey spends much of the book still internalizing her worthlessness and I'm still unsure why Cyrus is attracted to her (what makes her so special).
