Hopeless #1-4

The Hopeless Series

Rate this book
If life really was a fairy tale, Zakara would never be the damsel in distress. She’d be a thief, and Prince Charming wouldn’t have a clue how to steal the heart of the conniving criminal.

Zakara saves not one, but three men locked inside the tallest tower. Her first instinct is to ditch them as soon as possible, but they have one thing that intrigues her more than wealth:

Magic.

Fae magic once ruled the world, until it disappeared without a trace. Only myths of the magic wielders linger in their destroyed society.

The three prisoners claim to be fae, but she doesn’t trust them.

She doesn’t trust anyone.

Can Prince Ryder convince the pretty thief to lead them to the Hopeless City? Or will she kill him before they even arrive?

This is a complete reverse harem box set including Hopeless Magic, Hopeless Kingdom, Hopeless Realm, and Hopeless Sacrifice. Recommended for readers 18 and over.

I loved Zakara and I loved her guys. I am not sure reading each book individually would have given the same experience. There's something to be said about the uninterrupted flow of the story that makes it much more satisfying.

I didn’t hate this but I didn’t love it. The premise was good but it got confusing and I found myself not really paying attention…

I came across this series by accident on Audible as I was looking for short stories to listen to while I hopped in the shower. I picked this one at random after becoming annoyed about not finding anything that really caught my eye.
I. Absolutely. Fell. In. LOVE!!!!
I had to start reading along on the Kindle immediately as well! The adventures, the drama, the love and loss, the characters are so lovable, but the ones that aren’t, grown on you! They’re petty and witty, protective and loving. I’ve never read a book with something similar to polyamory but the true deep love had me rooting for them! It was honestly such a beautiful love story twisted in a war and danger all around them.
I’m obsessed with the characters and the story. The last book had me belly laughing, biting my lip, crying sad and happy tears. The Epilogues were SO needed. I’d truly love to read the same story from each fae male’s pov too! I’d buy them in a heartbeat! ❤️‍🔥 *TW* VERY SPICY 🌶️ There is a war that goes on so killing, abuse, etc. does occur. I don’t want to give too much away…
Again, I absolutely love this series. It starts off with a thieving adventure, through many more ups and downs. To leave off on the most beautiful adventure of all 🥹🥰.

I binged this series in a couple of days (would've read it sooner, but you know... life). Reverse harems aren't always my cup of tea, but this one works really, really well. The heroine is conflicted about falling in love with three different fae and her confusion is not glossed over, which adds a nice touch of realism to this story. The world building is a bit sketchy and sometimes relies a bit too heavy on coincidence, but because the writing was so good, I was more than happy to overlook this. As you would expect from a RH story, this one is steamy, but definitely not over the top. The author doesn't shy away from keeping the bedroom door wide open, but those scenes actually do serve the plot and aren't just there as fodder.

There were some editing issues, that I really think the editor should've caught, but nothing that took away from my enjoyment of this story.

All in all, this was a great read with a great and believable RH-romance and some surprising twists and turns along the way. I look forward to reading more of this author's work in the future.

Listened to this through Audible. 🎧
I really enjoyed this series. I liked that you got all the books in a bundle and could listen to the next installment as soon as the other finished, as they all ended on cliffhangers!
This series was a new fae world and I enjoyed the dystopian storyline and the world building.
The narrator and the story itself had me hooked from the start! I was intrigued right from the get go and just couldn't stop listening.
The FMC was a real badass that didn't take shit from the MMC's. This is a reverse harem storyline and their love story has some really nice and Spicy moments, but it is a slooow burn romance. I enjoyed the story but I felt that the big ending was a bit lacking, felt almost anticlimactic after all the build up for the finishing and then it was kind of meeh. Not a terrible ending at all, but I would have loved some more depth to the big finale so to speak. Overall a really enjoyable listen to and recommend for all fantasy and rh-lovers out there.

I absolutely loved this series, all these books were amazing!
I started reading and I could not stop until I got to the very last book.
The constant building and releasing was awesome.
I loved how the characters were both a blend of strong and vulnerable.
A. K. Koonce most definitely knows how to weave her stories that makes the reader laugh, cry and growl all throughout the whole story.
So it’s a big HECK YEAH I most definitely positively recommend this book set because I thought it was totally fantastic!

3.5 Stars. The 1st and 2nd book we’re my absolute favorite, they captured my attention for hours. However I felt like the 3rd and 4th book (especially the 3rd) were really slow and diminishing. I did enjoy the ending of the 4th book a lot though. One thing you can most definitely count on is the humor. It was witty and sassy in almost every chapter.

P. S. This review can be for others but this is mainly a note for me, when I forget the plot of the series. If the review did help you, I’m glad I could help!!

Love the fact this was a collection, no waiting around for the next instalment only to have forgotten the previous books, as you’ve read so many in between lol
This RH series had me hooked from the start, thus I ‘just’ had to read in a short time span. Zakara has real struggles with her own self worth, she questions everything not a bad thing, her three fae men are what give her the confidence to be ‘a gift from the gods or a curse from the devil’ you will have to read it for yourself to learn this 😉

Amazing series!

A must read box set! Kick-Ass MC and some hot fae men. Yes what could go wrong? I read this whole box set in less than a day. I was hooked! Kara and her men have a bit of a rough start in the beginning but each man is not like the other. And who could forget Lady Ivory? Or the gods🙄. Then there's Tristan..no spoilers but if you love RH, fae, and some war this definitely for you!

An author to follow

This is not her best series. That being said, this author is still a amazing. In this series I found the that there was more repetition in certain areas and it's not as steamy as some of her other book. Other than that the series is amazing. It's a captivating story that holds interest all the way through. It keeps you up late while you're flying through pages, it's that good.

Recently discovered A.A Koonce, and I really love the authors creativity. The characters are great, although I do wish to feel a little more connected to some (not easily done with RH and so many characters though!). The heroine was sassy and spunky which I like, and yet the hero’s still alpha! Looking forward to reading more from the author.

Definitely an interesting read, a little hard to get your head around what's going on at first and as a reader it's hard to get to know the characters in the first book at least. However like any series, as the books progress you do find more out about each of the characters and end up rooting for them

Hopeful

I’m in awe of this whole story, written with humour, sexiness and compassion, it had my wager to turn the page! I read avidly and for once I couldn’t really tell where the storyline was going!
I am hopeful the author never runs out of subject matters.

Dystopian future with a fantasy twist

I loved this action packed story with such a warrior heroine. Zakara and the guys go on quite the adventure through the land and across the realms. This story kept me on the edge of my seat.

4-ish⭐️’s — not sure…

I’m equally intrigued and annoyed with the author’s choices in the climactic scene(s) at the end of the series… but ultimately it’s certainly original and out of the box to “the norm”… which I appreciate more than you know.

The Hopeless Series

This series was okay to me. I did not really care for the female main character as I felt she did not deserve the men due to her pettiness throughout the book.
