A man survives the in the woods in Maine for 27 years. He steals from the summer residents and buries his trash. He walks silently in the woods after 1 am, in full dark and rain and always walked in his own footsteps never leaving a trail. Only takes what he needs and rarely money. Food, fuel and books. True story! Fascinating!
Haven’t we all fantasized about walking away from our responsibilities, society, human conflict… Chris Knight did it, and lived in the woods for nearly three decades, observing a limited swath of humanity from a safe distance, and helping himself to their possessions as necessity required (because, like me, Chris considered reading material a necessity).
Very interesting true story about a man who lives in the woods with no human contact for over twenty years. He stole everything he needed and lived undetected in the north woods of Maine , never building a fire!! Very interesting how he survived & what happened when he had to return to society.
Rating this book is subjective as it was fascinating to read the story of Christopher but frustrating at the same time. To believe he lived alone in woods of Maine for 27 years stealing every scrap of everything he needed to survive stretched my imagination.
