Stepbrother who hates you but secretly wants to fuck you. That's what Carrington is dealing with along with the death of her best friend/other stepbrother. She's keeping his (dead bro) secert to make sure no one gets hurt or worse. But to be honest I didn't feel like Sebastian wasn't a huge bully he protected her and made sure no one talked badly about her.
And as for Carrington she was annoyed with the "stepbrother" sharing question she never slept with anyone. She's also trying to fight her feelings for Bash. We get more question about the death. Who's sending the notes to the Wolves. And we get some sizzling scenes. I do love the friendship these guys have.
And a FKING IN THE GRAVE YARD.
Low angst, om/ow drama (just ppls), no cheating, secondary characters, drama, sexy times, virgin gal and no manwhore (atleast thst I know of

I really want to love this book so much because the hero is one of my fave character. He is very over the top possessive and very protective towards the heroine.
3 stars.
1. for the heroine and the hero's friendship with his friends are so cute and i love their togetherness to stick together and solve the big mystery. idk why but i just love that.
2. for the hero being very protective and very over the top possessive alpha male and very much obsessed with the heroine.
3. no cheating ever.
+ No SEPARATION, many and many jealous scenes from the hero and the smut scenes were so hot.
What I don't like about the book:
1. The hero have been obsessed with the heroine for probably years like two or three years or months idk? I forgot the exact time. But it was a long time he said... But at the same time, he also hate that he wants her so bad and always so mean to her because he can't handle his feelings towards her so instead he gave her hate lol. So childish. But in those times he wants her and hates her and cannot claim her officially, HE FCKS OTHER GIRLS BUT STILL WANT THEM TO BE THE HEROINE SINCE HE FIRST SAW THE HEROINE.
And i hate that part.
I don't want that type of hero ever. That start with wanting the heroine so very bad like he always proudly to say out loud but at the same time he thinks so childishly that he can't claim her right away so he fcks other woman along the way...
AND WHEN YOU READ THIS, IT DOESN'T START WITH THE HERO HAVING S3X WITH OTHER OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT. NO. IT WAS IN THE PAST THO. BECAUSE WHEN YOU READ THIS STORY IT IMMEDIATELY STARTS WITH THE HERO REALLY JUST WANTS THE HEROINE OFFICIALLY AND NO OTHER WOMAN. EVEN WHEN SOME GIRL TRIES TO SIT ON HIS LAP, HE THROWS HER AWAY WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING HER. I JUST WANT TO CLARIFY THAT.
2. So while the heroine is a virgin and never have anyone else, the hero is doing that to other girls. So it's so freakin annoying!!!! Not fcking fair and just annoying.
3. The hero couple of times even when have s3x with her for the first time, he said this to his head that made me so fcking furious. Cause it's so freakin childish. When I have a man thinks that way when I'm having s3x with him, I will immediately throw him away if i was the heroine lol.

So in that moment I know I will not be able to love this book as much as i want to😅😅😅 And I know that the story already begins with the heroine and hero together without anyone else, but still.... It still annoys me lol.
4. The hero is childish and the heroine is childish too. It's like watching children... For me it is.
5. Couple of times there was a unnecessary childish drama...

It's a dark and mysterious story, though I have my suspicions, it's still surprising how this goes.
Carrington Jane's mother married Sebastian's father. What makes the step-brother and sister.
Though people think of this as taboo, for me, it isn't.
They're not blood related.
They're in love with each other, but Sebastian hates because he thinks, she's in love with is brother, that his mysteriously death still have no answers, he appeared dead in the cliffs of their private college.
Sebastian thinks that Carrington had a relationship with his brother and that she's lying about his death, so he makes her life miserable.
Most of the story is in the college cemetery, at night.
Sebastian is a really psycho, and he's going to find out where loyalties and true friendship is...

Twisted in Flames was recommended in a FB group and although I don't usually read bully books, I liked the fact that while the H is a bully, he doesn't allow anyone else to bother the h. So, when I read that I figured why not but unfortunately it was a complete miss for me. The overall story is all over the place with a childish dialogue, it reads like they're children in HS. I found the transition from scenes messy, and I felt no connection between either character. The story ends in a Cliffhanger that I don't care about and will not read book 2.

I had the pleasure of reading this as an ARC and whew, Rory hadn't disappointed me, this is my fourth book for Rory and I'm not stopping.

This book was FANTASTIC and I cannot wait for book 2 to continue Carrington and Sebastian's story.

What happened to Sebastian’s brother and why does he think Carrington Jane (CJ), the girl on whom he has always crushed and his brother’s best friend, is withholding information? This is a new adult, brother’s best friend / stepbrother romance in a university setting with mystery and treachery.
The most appealing elements in this story were the over-the-top possessiveness Sebastian felt toward CJ, their undeniable attraction to each other disguised as a love-hate rapport, and the characters. And while there were lots of secrets to be uncovered and assumptions to clarified, I wasn’t as fond, however, of the main couple’s push-pull from not communicating. Additionally, the spice was needless “missed opportunities,” contrived, and in fact only culminating at the end.
Overall, ok, fun characters, but predictable. It does leave the reader wanting to unravel the mystery. I prefer a more progressive, sensible storyline and less delayed spice.

Our H and h are step siblings and the H older brother has mysteriously died on the night the h was suppose to be with him and our H is 1) jealous of their relationship as he thinks they were FKn (they weren’t), and 2) he’s gonna torment it out of her- naturally 😑. This is a bully but he wasn’t ever a bully to her he was just possessive. No one touched her, spoke about her or got near her. 🥰😍 yes please!

I hate it’s a cliffy but I DEVOURED this book. Literally one day, HOURS. So dang good. I hope in book 2 we get- a grovel, then finally being together for real, a damn baby from him 🥜 🌰 in her knowing she wasn’t on anything.. I mean forced preg I’m all for 😈 this gave me Aiden king/ Rafe/ Gemma weir’s Sebastian vibes but like the lighter version. Lol. Because he never actually hurts her or does anything that would. if you're looking for logic and reason in this book, they went for drinks with some unicorns
The hero, Sebastian, is obsessed with his step-sister, Carrington, for reasons unknown. Sebastian had a brother, Blaine, who also happened to be Carrington's best friend. Blaine died under mysterious circumstances before the book started, told his brother he'd be with Carrington the night he died, but she was somewhere else that night. Carrington also knows Blaine's secret, but refuses to tell Sebastian what it is. He wants to find that secret and make Carrington pay.
That was the short premise of this book. Sounds interesting? I thought so too until I read it 😬
- Sebastian was promised and is made to be this OTT obsessive possessive guy, but in reality he's an indecisive jerk who throws temper tantrums like a three year old, jumps from one extreme into another, can't decide if he wants to stay away from the heroine (yet does nothing for it) or to be with the heroine. He shouts that Carrington is his at every passerby, threatens everyone, even his friends with literal murder for TOUCHING HER ON THE ARM, is paranoidly convinced she's slept with his dead brother (while he was still alive, thank god 🤔) and every other guy from his fraternity 🤡🤣💀🚩
- Carrington is a little better, but it was easy to achieve since the hero was shit. She was full of pompous lines that meant nothing, had nothing going for her, except being convinced that the hero views her as a toy, meanwhile she admitted to herself that she's into his 'depraved' ways 😫 *take a shot every time the heroine says shit like 'depraved'. better yet, take a shot at the heroine saying that* 🤷🏼♀️😈
- the murder mystery is basically dead and buried: Blaine's murder is suspiciously ruled an accident, his rich dad doesn't even get mentioned doing anything, beyond simply existing somewhere in this world. The hero is kind of trying to get to the bottom of it, but gets distracted every time and instead is trying to get to the bottom of the heroine's panties😅 the heroine herself doesn't appear to mourn the death of her best friend at all and is refusing to say anything to anyone about the night Blaine died, although it could very well help them find the murderer.
- don't even get me started on the "romance" aspect of things: the hero is jealous of everyone who comes in contact with the heroine, accuses her of being a slut and sleeping with his brother. The heroine is pissed at this treatment and confirmed all his suspicions. They fight and create unnecessary drama 😫 The logical way would be for them to sleep together and for the hero to understand that she's still a virgin. You'd think in a book focused solely on smut and not plot, it would be easy for them to bang, but no! 👀🙄🤬 They are either interrupted by others, or only do oral, or interrupt themselves...But even after they actually do the deed (in the last chapter, mind you) it takes the hero a long-ass minute to understand that the tightness he felt was actually her hymen 🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡💀💀💀💀💀
- every scene was disconnected with another, nothing felt logical in this story, or organic, or convincing. It felt as if some moments existed in a vacuum, and the longer I've read, the more confused and aggravated I got 🤬

Sebastian and Carrington are straight fire in this story the sexual tension the chemistry the push and pull between these two! Loved it! I’m dying over the mystery the suspense this story is putting out I’m very invested in this couple and the side characters and I’m obsessed with wanting to solve the mystery and that ending!!! Sebastian is probably one of my favorite heroes ever he’s unapologetically dark and complex he’s over the top possessive he’s almost insane with jealousy over Carrington he gives off major touch her and die vibes and I’m so here for it! The writing is excellent the steam is super hot I’m loving this dark stepbrother enemies to lovers college romance and can’t wait for the next book!

I really don’t understand why authors choose to make novella duets. Why not just make one full length book? It’s like it’s an excuse to not have to focus on all the details that really pull a story together.
The romance was weak, the mystery was weak. This was just straight up smut, and not even good smut. OTT, unoriginal characters and dialogue. Can authors please stop publishing the same stuff over and over?

This was an easy and quick read, but filled with pages that kept you sucked into the story and happily turning the pages! It's a perfect hot stepbrother dark romance with plenty of angst and twists to feed the imagination!
Sebastian-"Bash"- just lost his brother, Blaine, in a mysterious way, off a cliff near his posh school in Woodsboro. He's filled with anger and the Kappa Alpha president Talon seems to want to push his buttons...
But luckily he has his frat brothers to keep a physical barrier to stop him going too far!
Then there's his stepsister Carrington Jane - "CJ". He's fighting a majorly strong obsessive attraction to her. He doesn't want to want her. He's angry that he does and takes it out on her in confusing ways. He blows hot and cold, he refuses to believe things she says, he's determined and convinced she knows what happened to Blaine. While it's true she does know Blaines secrets as they were close, she wasn't with him that night - but Bash won't believe her.
So was she with him?? We don't know! But this push-pull almost toxic relationship she has with Bash, she enforces with pushing buttons she knows will fire him up and make his actions with her harsher. But she likes it....at the time! And then feels wrong after...so it's not just Bash with the hot and cold!
On top of this emotional roller coaster, there's someone going around stabbing threatening notes to the doors of Bashs circle with a knife, warning them to stop trying to find out what happened to Blaine or CJ may get hurt....
We're left on a cliffhanger that makes you really want to grab Bash and shake some sense into him!! Maybe shake some braincells loose? See what's in front of him?
And to not let her go off on her own!!!

I really enjoyed this one. Reading this book was just so much fun. It was full of twists and turns and really kept me on the edge of my seat while I waited for the story to unfold. The romance was super possessive and obessive and I absolutely loved it. The story was really enjoyable and easy to lose myself into. The steamy scenes in this book were so hot and really lovely. I just had a really good time reading this book and it was everything I wanted it to be.

This is my first book by this author and holy smokes, was this book AMAZING!! I was nervous about reading this because the fmc was a virgin and the Mmc was not, but the Hero only mentions it once or twice and doesn’t even go into detail, so that definitely made it a little better. What really helped though was that our hero is super possessive of our fmc. No like, seriously. SUPER possessive it’s almost kind of scary, but still so hot lol.
I seriously cannot wait for the next book! That cliffhanger had me wanting to throw my phone across the room. I need book two asap!

DAMN! This was one hell of an intense, emotional and twisted rollercoaster ride that blew my mind! It was dark and suspenseful and kept me biting my nails with anxiety and frustration over what transpires on the pages. There are so many secrets floating around that I am not quite sure what the underlying secrets are just yet, but I know that when they finally get revealed it’s going to be extremely explosive and possibly cause a blowback that might bring me to my knees – or so I think!
Carrington has a lot of volatile and depraved moments with Sebastian (her stepbrother), as he is out to get answers from her that he knows she’s been hiding from him. And he will do anything and everything to get those answers. He wants to destroy her but also wants to love her – it’s a conundrum that had me so frustrated and angry over the stupid things he does to her. But man, their chemistry was HOT, EXPLOSIVE and PANTY MELTING!
I freaking loved this story – the phenomenal characters who are damaged and have their own demons to fight – the insane emotions that seep off the pages and kept me cursing and screaming – the angst and drama – and all the steamy moments that shocked the hell of out me.
Brilliantly written story keeping hooked from page one and had my jaw dropping with shock and anger by the end. I can’t wait to see how this story turns out!

Love! Taboo (stepsiblings)? Check. Dark? Check. Great story? Check. Spicy as heck, CHECK! Also, toss in some bully – it just adds to the story. After F*ckboys in Flannel and Violent Peak I knew going into it that I was going to love it. I love Rory’s writing. It’s dark and spicy. Read the triggers beforehand, this is not a light read. You’ve been warned. The way she writes brings the story to life. Carrington James and Sebastian are step siblings, but both harbor feelings for each other. Sebastian is the epitome of an antihero. He is dark and dangerous filled with depravity and destruction. His obsession with his stepsister consumes him. The problem is his brother died and he’s convinced that CJ knows what happened. He’s stuck between wanting to hurt her for information and wanting to take her hard and fast. The spice is pure fire – it’s panty melting and oh so delicious. The buildup between these characters is volatile and when they get together – forget it – they are explosive. I need part two like yesterday. CJ is hiding secrets and I’m dying to know what they are; I need more! If you are looking for a dark, dirty, taboo novella you are in the right place. Run, don’t walk to pick this up!

Gahhhhh!!! I flacking loved Twisted in Flames by Rory Ireland and I feel twisted in knots with my heart in my throat at the cliffhanger. Carrington Jane and Sebastian are perfect for each other, she is yin to his yang. Yet, they are step siblings and considered forbidden by society’s bs standards. However, their explosive and all-consuming feelings for one another is addictive and unstoppable. One moment Bash is destructive, cruel and unyielding to her and next, he can’t even control his hands from shaking when another man, even his best friend, steals a moment of CJ’s attention from him. The nuclear chemistry between them should come with a warning. My only complaint is that even as a part of a duet, I needed more pages, more words. I needed a longer part one. I dreaded the ending, kept checking how many pages are left. I need more Sebastian and more CJ. Thankfully, the second part of the duet, United In Ashes, will be coming out in less than a month so we won’t have to wait too long. Kudos to Ireland for creating such a high-paced and exhilarating story with delicious twists and secrets.

I don't think I have ever read a novel so diligently and in such a short span of time. I loved everything about the story, whether it be the suspense, the angsty romance between the protagonists- Sebastian and Carrington, everything in this story is worth every moment of my time.
The writing in this story is commendable. It is easy to follow and paints movie in the reader's mind while reading. I love the fact that the author gave the protagonists time to understand their hatred against each other. It just made the entire thing super spicy. Further, she didn't rush the story by making them patch up. The characters are very well fleshed out.
Coming to the drama in the story, it is no less than a TV series and it will keep you hooked till the end and leave you wanting for more. I mean i wasn't ready for the book to end. I am eagerly waiting for the next one to come out and will definitely recommend this book to everyone who love angst kind of bully romance.

OH MY EVER LOVIN' HELL! Rory Ireland is a new to me author, and after experiencing the darkness of Twisted in Flames, I can say she's right up my dark & twisty alley. Here's the best part though, she blends the darkness with a kicker of humor that truly makes it stand out in my eyes. I'll make this review short & sweet since the story is on the short(ish) side but stills packs a great big punch. Sebastian believes that his stepsister, Carrington knows more about his brother's death than she's letting on so he's out to prove it. There's just one big issue, he has a forbidden thing for her so it has him all twisted up inside. There's a lot more to this story because of all the twists coming in hot, and it all leads to a cliffhanger ending that has me ready to break things. See, this story barely scratches the surface so I'm not sure how I'm going to be able to wait for the next book! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This HERO is everything, i loved every part of him , how crazy J/P he is just what i wanted.
I literally wanted lately so badly a book like this, where we have a a crazy J/P that is 100% she slept with others but in reality she did not, and he didn't believe her, no matter what.

What what what!!! You cannot just leave me hanging like that.Just when it was getting so good that I even jump out off my bed you left me hanging for the next that is not right not right at all! But oh my gosh with all that ending and the mystery that is going on around Woodsboro I’m just left so anxious and excited at the same time. it definitely was an awesome read I can’t wait for more of Sebastian that man wow he was definitely something.
