"Riverflow: Retelling Prince Lindworm" by Lucy Winton is the captivating second installment in the Waterdrop trilogy. Picking up right where the first book left off, this novella plunges readers back into the enchanting world of Coravil and the adventures of Isla and her companions.

The story opens after Isla has faced the council, her riding jacket covered in serpent skins and Aife, her growing and increasingly aggressive water serpent, by her side. Isla is determined to save her foster sister Maeve from an unwanted marriage, reminding the council of an old law that could thwart Maeve's undesirable match.

As tensions rise, a priceless elven artifact is stolen, and the primary suspect is Elusive, a notorious thief for hire. Convinced of his innocence, Isla decides to help him, but her efforts lead to unforeseen complications. When their plan goes awry, Isla and Elusive must join forces to evade the lawmen. Along the way, they encounter numerous obstacles, including Elusive's many enemies and the consequences of Isla's previous actions at Mistrise.

Lucy Winton excels once again in crafting a fast-paced narrative filled with rich descriptions and intricate character development. Despite its brevity, "Riverflow" is packed with detail and layers that enhance the overall story. The dynamic between Isla and Elusive adds a new dimension to the plot, while Aife's transformation introduces an element of suspense and unpredictability.

From the moment I started this book, I couldn't put it down. Although short, so much happens within its pages. Winton's skillful storytelling ensures that each chapter is filled with action, intrigue, and emotion. The continuation of Isla's journey and the deepening of her relationships with other characters keep readers engaged and eager for more.

As with the first book, "Riverflow" does not reach a complete conclusion, setting the stage for the final installment in the trilogy. Winton's ability to weave mythology and fantasy into a compelling narrative makes this series a must-read for fans of fairy tales and fantasy fiction.

Overall, "Riverflow" is a delightful and thrilling read that continues the story of Isla and her companions in a fascinating and immersive world. Lucy Winton's talent for character development and world-building promises an exciting conclusion in the next book. I can't wait to see what happens next and highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good fantasy adventure.

it’s good but..

Same issue as I had with the first, it’s not a complete story on its own. Picks up immediately after book 1 and continues the story. As short as it the first two books have been (just a few hours to read each, the second was even shorter than the first I think) I don’t understand why the author didn’t just put it all together in one book. Would have given 5 *s if it had been longer and a complete story on its own. Very well written with an interesting plot that kept my attention.

Writing the next part of Isla's journey was a lot of fun! I wanted to write a protagonist who became the alibi of a thief, and Isla was perfect for that. Weaving elements of the original fairytale ino the story was deeply enjoyable.

Oh, and don't think I've forgotten about Finola and Maeve. They'll have their own tales to tell...

Although a short read this second in a series packs in plenty of detail and layers. It continues from the events of the first book, but if you are a fan of fantasy based fiction this series may be one that appeals to you.

I enjoyed continuing the journey of the characters, and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

This is book 2 in the Waterdrop series.

This book picks up right where book 1 leaves off.

**Contains book 1 spoilers*"

Isla has went before the council with her riding jacket covered in serpent skins with Aife by her side and reminded the council of a law that states a father may forbid a younger child to get married before the eldest. Isla is trying to save Mayve from a life long marriage to a man who despised her blood relations.

From the moment I started this book I couldn't put it down. While the books are short, so much happened. I don't want to spoil it for anyone, so I will say the author did a great job and I can't wait to see what happens next.
