The Yaga's Riders: Complete Trilogy + Bonus Content

Rate this book
**This omnibus includes the complete Yaga's Riders trilogy (Rise of the Witch, A Witch Out of Time, Call of the Ride) as well as Bonus Asa Baby (a Tan + Asa Christmas Special), the never-before-published Too Peopley (a Nox + Vasi Valentine's Day Special), and a sneak peek at Anthia's spin-off story.**

RISE OF THE WITCH BLURB (Book 1):

As with most beginnings, it started with death.

When I had nothing left to lose, I traveled to the hut in the woods; the one no one dared approach. The witch who lived there recognized the darkness in my soul and took me under her wing—to witness her reign of terror firsthand and eventually, to inherit her legacy as my own.

Now I’m the monster they fear; the one humans avoid at all costs. In this welcome isolation, I've attempted to forget my past and the future that was taken from me.

Until three men appear, somehow able to break through my protective wards and see me in my true form. While resistant to their intrusion, I recognize they may be the ones I’ve been waiting for—the ones I need to ascend to my full power.

Too bad I would rather grind their bones than invite them in.

But something is mysteriously devouring the forest, and I suspect the threat may be the same one I barely escaped many moons ago. If it is, he will find me a more worthy opponent than the last time we met.

I am the Yaga and I may be broken, but my edges are sharp.

--

The Yaga’s Riders is based on the folklore of Baba Yaga, with creative liberties taken. This is a steamy, paranormal romance saga featuring mysterious forces in magical woods, a legendary witch, and the three men destined to find her.

Book 1: Rise of the Witch

I really love the combination of a modern world with witchy vibes and old folkore.

It's really fun seeing Vasi's sense of humor grow as she gets to know these bewildering men that wandered into her life.

I listened to the audiobooks and they are really well done.

Book 2 : A Witch out of time

I like where this I going 😏

Loved the character development. Interesting plot developments that answered some burning questions and enough trails left to leave me eager for the next book.

Book 3: Call of the Ride + Bonus Content & overall thoughts:

The banter between the characters and the humorous internal thoughts are priceless, soo good! Loved the was the plot concluded.

I'm not familiar with the original Baba Yaga Folklore at all, but this series was a fun witchy ride. It would be interesting now to learn more of that Folklore.

I also highly recommend the audiobooks. The narrators lend way more credibility to the characters voices than my brain could have conjured.

The bonus content was also really fun reads!

This was insane. I bought it on impulse because it was cheap for a trilogy and the concept of "Baba Yaga reverse harem romance" was hilarious to me and promised a silly, goofy time. I was wrong. Not that it would be a good time- it absolutely was - but because this series WRECKED ME. I cried. I screamed. I giggled and kicked my feet. I stress-sweated. I DM'd the author to tell her I hate her, then again to tell her I love her, then one final time to tell her I need a thousand more stories about these characters, please.

Definitely check the CWs at the front of the book (or of each book, if you're reading them separately); if I had gone in blind, I could see how a LOT of the content in here would have been really distressing and taken me out of the story. But since I went in prepared (one of my favourite things about C Rochelle is the care and detail with which she writes CWs), I knew what to expect (in this regard ONLY - every single other plot twist succeeded in shocking me), and was able to stay invested in the story without compromising my emotional wellbeing.

The short version of my review is: Read this. Buy the entire trilogy at once, because you won't be able to put it down anyway. Enjoy the roller coaster of love and hate for C Rochelle, and the roller coaster of Vasi, Nox, Taneer and Asa's relationships. Prepare yourself to cry profusely when its over. If you're me, you'll also fall into a rabbit hole of hyper-fixation of Slavic folklore.

This is a profound and breathtaking story of love, lust, found family, and power that can only be generated by reclaiming and rewriting the narrative of your life.

I enjoyed the heck out of this series. Though more the first two books than the third, which I thought got too sappy and too deus ex machina-like. Characters suddenly developed and utilized powers too easily and conveniently. But outside of that, I loved the characters and thought the world was interesting. The writing is well-edited and easy to read. And there were just a lot of aspects of the romance and sexual relationships that I appreciated—things you don't see often enough, IMO.

The heroine is curvy and doesn't conform to a lot of today's beauty standards. She's not clean-shaven, for example. And the men make it very clear that they like this about her. One's kink is even loving the smell of a woman a day or so outside of bathing. (This is notable since women are often taught they shouldn't smell of anything at all—just one more way to plasticize us, IMO). So, I very much appreciated that the men loved aspects of her body that make her human in the most natural of ways.

Conversely, I did take issue with the gay character becoming bisexual for Vasi. It's not written as if he was always bi but just finally found a woman to express it with. He was gay but confusingly found himself sexually attracted to Vasi. I found that a little ick if I'm honest. Though I adored the absolute chaos that was his relationship with Tan as well as Nox's protectiveness of it.

All in all, this series was a winner for me, and I'll be looking for more of Rochelle's books.

It's funny, it's sexy, and the characters are compelling. It feels well researched and the gods and magic are so fun. All the men feel like different characters, and I enjoyed all of them. PoV alternates chapter to chapter. I loved the side characters too.

I wasn't expecting it to be funny, but the baba yaga discovering leggings was hilarious.

The FMC was abused as a child, but instead of falling into the classic tropes, she doesn't forgive her abusers and is never punished for her anger. She is unapologetically herself, a monstrous witch, and is celebrated for her wild nature (even down to the men loving her unshaved and making a meal of her after being in the forest all day). She's a self assured, powerful witch, and is allowed to be that all the way through. That, along with the importance of strong female friendship, makes it is one of the most feminist RH romances I've read.

The smut is FANTASTIC. She's a switch, and as someone who doesn't enjoy reading much femme dom, I LOVED the sexy blood thirsty witch. It's hard to make me blush, this series did it.

I liked this series. We have a strong FMC, we have fated mates, we have gods and folklore. I love when folklore and gods are a part of a story; it takes the "history" of them and makes it easier to remember and/or learn more about them.

I appreciated what each rider represented for Vasi. There was character development throughout; each character had something to work out for themselves. I always enjoy multiple POVs so this delivers on that. And I really enjoyed the spicy scenes; it definitely takes spicy up a notch when you have 4 participants. I do like that the relationships can all be at once or various combinations.

I also like that this story delves into what family means; you get to choose your family and it's not always found in blood relations.

Amazing and Unique Series

This is probably the best way to consume this series as this was you’ll avoid all the wait for the next book on a cliffhanger thing.
This series is wonderfully unique and that characters all have their own things that are just so much them that you never get them confused. Vasi does what she does. Tan, Asa and Nox all do exactly what each of them do. Even Anthia and some of our lesser secondary characters are uniquely themselves to.
The writing is a fantastic blend of details and plot and spice and fun to keep you engaged the whole time.
Highly recommend.

Love love love

Great writing, great storyline, I can't get enough of this series.
I have read these books about 5 times now.
A Retelling of Baba Yaga.
These books are very intense , be aware this is RH, there is very hot intimate scenes. There is fighting, death , Revenge. There is MM , you have to enter these books with an open mind and accept it's steamy and even though it has Russian Mythology it's doesn't stick to traditional Myth.

An amazing series

A wonderful mixture of dark and sexy. The characters are so well developed you feel like you know them personally. I absolutely love the sassy, bloodthirsty Vasi. All three of her men are sexy, yet completely different in a way that compliments the heroine. Witchy va ju-ju for the win!

Folklore & Fated Mates

The weaving of modernity with wonderful old folklore, wrapped up with fated mates and Polyamory, was brilliant!

Action, adventure, misadventures, and love made for one delightfully spicy read.

The wit and humor was such a perfect touch to the sometimes rather weighty situations.

A recommended read, but mind your squicks. ✌🏻

good

An interesting take on Baba Yaga and the supernatural, along with Slavic gods. I enjoyed Tan a lot, he helped keep the characters and the reader from getting too sad or down. I liked Nox after he pulled his head out of his butt. And Ace is so sweet.

Riders

I loved this story so much! It was a great balance on deep emotion, the best banter I have ever read, and a great redemption arc for the alphahole. Loved how much growth we see in each character through the series. Semi dark, great plot, amaizing world building. 10/10

Matthew was a bit anticlimactic

Ok book. A bit slow in some spots and not enough detail in others. Got to 80% of the book and was wondering if it was actually going to end...

Vasi is absolutely amazing. I love this take on the Baba Yaga mythology and the spice does NOT disappoint. Nox is my favorite grumpy boy and I loved his development. Looking forward to Anthia's story.

The Yaga's trilogies will ALWAYS be a favorite of mine and a recommendation I will always give to other readers. C. Rochelle takes the legend of the Baba Yaga of Slavic folklore and spins a plot so wide and deep; it is absolutely unreal. I fell in love with Vasi and her fierceness. Nox, Tan, and Asa show up in her life and bring chaos to her doorstep (chicken foot hut-step?) along with undeniable attraction and tension.
This MMFM romance trilogy with magic, lore, and SUPER spicy times is one of my all-time favorites.
As always - *read the trigger warnings* before jumping in.
