Since aging out of the foster care system and becoming a nurse, all I dreamed of was marrying a nice doctor and moving to a yellow two-story house in the suburbs. So how did a dangerous biker gang criminal end up handcuffed to my bed? And why did I agree to let that animal teach me how to...ahem...do things. Wicked things. In the very same bed he’s been handcuffed to in order to keep me safe? Long story. And it didn’t end well. Now it’s time to marry my doctor fiancé and make all my former foster kid dreams come true. But who do I spot at the back of the church after I walk down the aisle to join with my perfect groom in marriage? That dangerous MC. His ice-cold eyes are blazing with rage. And this time he’s totally unchained. Gulp. It’s not such a nice day for a white wedding after all. I’m not even one-percent sure I’m going to get out of this one with my heart--or my soul--intact.

Disclaimer: I have so much to say about this duology. Whew! I’m glad I read it, but there are mixed feelings, especially with the second book. I feel like the first book is very close to a five star, but the second book is disappointing. So let’s talk about. There are spoiler tags, but I will also warn that I have some really blunt things to say regarding the sexual content.
Book 2 made me sad because it was a such a let down from Book 1. Now Book 2 continued my state of open mouth shock. This is where all the biker stuff comes in, and I was seriously questioning my life choices. Below are some things that I either raised my eyebrows about or wanted to flip tables over:
*The bar where they meet up with the rest of Waylon’s gang has topless servers. Yeah, you heard me right. They tease one of the girls because she's small breasted. *Persy is only allowed to wear booty shorts and makes crocheted tops, and that’s what she gives Amira to wear. The whole Persy situation is just…..I want to read Hades’ books just because I want answers, but at the same time I’m scared. Waylon seems like a teddy bear next to Hades, and that's saying something. *Yes, there are a couple of murders committed onscreen. I don't know what that says about me, but they didn't bother me. It was in a dog-eat-dog environment and they weren't gruesome or gory for my tastes. *Doc/Allison is being courted by the three enforcers who call themselves Vengeance and come as a unit is a hard no for me. I won’t be reading it, and I don’t get how a woman who’s finishing medical school is going to opt for a polyamorous quad relationship with three violent bikers. *I’m assuming upstairs in their biker bar is a brothel? I wasn’t sure. Anyway, I hate sex trafficking and brothels, organized prostitution and stuff like that. I respect the dignity of all people and I don't judge sex workers, but I hate the idea that people have to choose or are forced into selling their bodies, and I don't like this being casually handled in books. *Now they didn’t call women bitches and stuff like that, but it was two three steps above that. Women are definitely treated like second class citizens in this biker society. *Waylon is like some Lord of his compound, and everything that happens needs to be approved by him. Amira isn’t allowed to have her phone, a laptop, or any money of her own? Is she a slave? It was all about Waylon's 'trust issues', like taking the autonomy of someone you care about because of trust issues is okay. Definitely not okay with me. *There’s a maid service where the girls clean houses naked and provide sexual services to the men *Then, when they “get together”, he has to *
So the things above left a bad taste in my mouth that tarnished the book for me. I could see that Amira worked things out where she could be happy, and I do believe Waylon loved her and wanted her to be happy. But in my mind, I was thinking how crazy this was, and how a woman would be willing to sign up for a life like this. It would have sat better with me if there was more of a collaboration and an equal partnership between them.
I will say I loved that Waylon built her dream house for her and named his town after her. But the feudal lord stuff (and the rampant sexism) didn’t work for me at all.
I’d give book two 3.5 stars.
Final thoughts: I really like Theodora Taylor's books that I've read. I think she's a good writer. I just think this kind of book isn't my taste. I like steam but I definitely have a limit when it comes to erotic content. While this book was mild in some ways, there are things in here past my comfort zone. I wish that I had found some of that in the trigger warnings I looked at.
I think this book has established for me that MC books are not my thing. I don’t like the sexual politics or the way women are treated in these environments at all. While I like an assassin/killer hero (don't judge me), I am not a hug fan of out and out criminals (especially if they participate in drug dealing/human trafficking crimes). I don't 100% know that they do either, but it's easy to assume that they are involved in the first and most certainly with the latter, since they have connections to the cartels. I just at the end of the day, I'm not that into stuff about organized crime. I have added a few dark romance books to my pile to try out, and we shall see. As for reading other MC books, I want to try to read some of Christine Feehan’s Torpedo Ink series because it’s related to the Prakenskii books. I know I will have to skip a lot of stuff in some of the books. I will read the other books in this series, except for Vengeance because I don’t do reverse harem. It’s going to take me a while to get through these for the reasons above. After that, I don't see me reading too many more of these. It would be fun to see a series where the women have their own MC and they are not beholden or under the thumb of men.
Yeah, it took me a while to compose my thoughts and write these reviews. One thing I will say is these books definitely kept me entertained.
I would have given a better review because I LOVE WAYLON'S story but what was the purpose for me paying for book 1 a second time with the epilog. I'm looking forward to Griffin's story.
Even though I got to know Waylon and Amira in book 1 of the Ruthless MC series, I was thrilled to learn that Ms. Taylor would come back with more from this couple. Book 2 answers many questions and gives this couple the ending they deserve while allowing you to spend more time with the brooding bad boy Waylon and the not so sweet but determined and lovable Amira. What a great ending to a awesome story.
This is part 2 of Waylon and Amira’s story. I actually give this book 3.5 ⭐️. I liked this book more than the first one because it gives a more thorough background of both Amira and Waylon.
Both Waylon and Amira went through the foster care system and it affected them differently. Amira goes to nursing school, gets two advanced degrees, becomes a nurse practitioner, and become engaged to a neurosurgeon resident.
Waylon does a tour of duty in the Army before becoming the leader of a motorcycle gang. He chooses a life where he’s in charge of his life and his word is law.
The story involves domestic abuse, a runaway bride, love and acceptance and a town built just for Amira as they work towards their HEA.
I enjoyed the twists and turns of this book. Will be reading the rest of the series. Read this on my Kindle app.
Solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ duet in a mini series. I honestly don’t have much more to say about the book/duet… it was fast, cute and good but nothing memorable or special. I’ll finish the rest of the series one day… it’ll be a series I go to for my fast MC fix before diving into a more lengthy book.
There is so much wrong with this story!!! At the beginning I thought " Yeah I like this character Waylon. Very strong alfa male!" But this man had no "legal" right to do none of the things he did to Amira. It went from cute to felony and kidnapping real quick! Same with Hades and Persy! That was way past felonies and kidnapping! He tourchered that poor woman, and the whole town was just fine with all of this because they were living free!!! I had to keep reading up to 64% hoping that this author would turn this sick novel around.....that did not happen! It made me think what in the heck kind of relationships she's had to write such a "Romance" Novel!
I loved the book ! However having to pay a second time for a book that I already purchased on google play... isn't the best feeling. I hope this doesn't happen with Griffin .
I finally gave in and paid for this duet because I was so curious about the series, however I have mixed feelings. The writing was good, the book was interesting and kept you engaged at every turn but I did not feel like this was much of a love story. The mmc was horrible throughout all of this book. It’s like him in the first book and him in this book are two completely different people. I think if you’re going to write a book with a mmc that’s an obsessive, possessive, asshole who only cares about what he wants then you need to make the story dual pov at the very least. Otherwise this whole book just seems like a case of severe stolkholm syndrome for the fmc. She never gets an actual choice about staying with him. And despite him doing some horrible things she always just turned over and took it. So though this book was a page turner, I could not be convinced of this couples love. At no point does the mmc give the female mc a choice or show any remorse for any of the things he’s done. So if you want something to read to get you out of a slump this book is definitely it, but if you’re looking for a great and intense love story then keep looking.
Intenso. Adictivo.
Now book 2?! In book 2 things really start to get interesting and pick up pace. Just like book 1, the narration was amazing.
Although Waylon is the president of an MC, there’s no MC drama or grit (like sons of anarchy). The book only focuses on their relationship.
It wasn’t until the end that I began to truly like Waylon. Throughout the story he seemed to be more abusive and controlling rather than loving and concerned.
When there’s no external threat to justify the extreme controlling behavior. It leans more on the side of abusive rather than love. His acceptance of Hades and Persy’s relationship was also unsettling. Thankfully, he does redeem himself by the end.
If you’re looking for a BWWM romance with a Sub/Dom relationship this book is for you. Although I don’t suggest skipping book 1.
Well ... Waylon actually building her dream house, and making her dream come true made me really like this book! Also, the fact they were 100% aware of how weird their relationship was, no sugarcoating and trying to make it somehow right! It's a book ... let's fake it! Isn't far very from the reality?? Yes!! And thank god!
Dr. America actually throwing Amira through the stars was crazy! Glad he faced consequences!
It's not a four-star book because Stephanie and Hades's story is in the middle! Seeing past characters not helping and judging, seeing the way Steph was being treated wasn't obsessive/crazy love and far far away from the "dark romance" ... it was 100% abuse and so ugly! It's absolutely weird, we saw Ms. Taylor write Revenge trope a million times and we know she can do without crossing this borderline! I don't even know how people feel the pull to read their duet.
Although I did fly through this book, I’m not sure how I feel about. I think because I haven’t read an MC romance in awhile, and the tropes in them border on being misogynistic.
Amira is definitely not a doormat of a FMC, she does fight Waylon initially, but actions do speak louder than words and Waylon made sure his actions said exactly what he meant.
I will say Waylon making sure Amira had her dream life (with a twist) had my heart in a puddle. He made sure that she would want or need for nothing, because he would always be there to provide for her.
I’m glad that they both opened up to each other because their sexual chemistry was never the issue, but slowly building that trust was necessary.
So while I don’t think I’ll continue the series for now, I liked both books.
Theodora Taylor is one of my favourite authors of all time…hands down. That being said, whilst this book is well written, it was a replica of book 1 with the only difference being the epilogue. The epilogue could have been included in book 1 or offered as a novella. One would expect part 2 of a book series to be an entirely new book…but unfortunately this was not. So, if you are now starting the series, I suggest starting with book 2 and progressing through the series from there. Notwithstanding, Ms. Taylor is one of the best authors out there who builds great storylines, draws you into her characters’ POVs with ease and I will definitely continue to purchase her books.
So I started this right after finishing the first book because I was hooked! By the time I was halfway or 3/4 in... I lost interest. Amira basically does what Waylon wants and submits which is naur for me. The story just became boring and towards the end with the mention of all these other characters from her other books, it came off as a push to read those books too (which I TOTALLY understand) but didn't ask for.
There is too much from the first book in this one. I had to check to see if I bought the same book twice. Theodora is one of my "one click " authors and I was a little disappointed. Despite that, the story answers some questions. Waylon is obsessed with Amira and she is no shrinking violet. I like how she stands up to him.
I don't understand why this book is so similar to the first book. Its like I bought the same book twice! She is a very good author so not sure why she did that to us.
I loved Waylon and Amira. Amira had so many expectation for herself because of her upbringing but i loved how the reapers took care of her and each other. Waylon did so much for her to make her happy. i just loved everything about this duet and the mc.
Book 2 did not disappoint. My goodness this story is amazing. Must read for anyone who likes a little danger lots of romance and crazy passion between two people destined to be together.
Waylon and Amira have a love story that isn't very traditional. These lovers are the example of people knowing that the person ment for them can't be a person chosen by a list of the top qualities in a partner; chemistry can't be manufactured.
This book is sooooo good!!!!You will love Waylon and Angel. They are magnificent together…… The more I read the more I said I need me a Waylon… Must Read!!!!!
My only issue with this book is the lack of development. Persy....how did she get away from Waylon???? Also, no one looked for Amira???? Her job didn't report her missing??? Book 2 was definitely pushing it...
