That's twice now I've been kidnapped, but at least this time it was my choice. I'm a prisoner of the Overlord, and I pray my mates will forgive me. We can't win this war by ourselves, but they had no intentions of honoring our alliance with the witches.
I'll find the witches, the ones trapped here as prisoners. I'll free them, and when I do, the stone fortress will burn and blacken with my flames.
Benedict said there needs to be balance between white and black magick, or one or the other will consume you. I dare it to try.
Perfect for fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout, The Lost Kingdom is the third book in the Rise of the Drakens series.
*This is a full length reverse harem/poly fantasy novel. Warning: there are dark themes and possible triggers.*
This book was basically a will they won’t they cheat. It was nearly irrelevant to the plot of the series. At this point I don’t know if there even is a plot.
part 3 of my "I should have been studying for finals but here I am" reads.
Jesus Christ, this was the last book. I promised myself I wouldn't read the other books in the series if I didn't enjoy this book. Did I enjoy this book? uHHHH.
I didn't know what to feel about Thad but in the end I really liked him. But of course, things don't go my way. By this point, the characters were really well rounded (IMO) and I loved the evolution (charot!) of the relationships.
For the sake of my mental health and my grades, I will not continue the rest of the series. But if you are bored and want to read smut, poly, and drakens, go ahead!
The writing in this book is so bad. There are so many mistakes that it's not even funny - I have no idea how they got through to be published. Somehow I've read three books from this series already though??
Like don’t get me wrong it’s entertaining but half of it doesn’t make sense and things could have been a lot less traumatic if they fucking spoke to eachother.
The concept is a good one but the characters aren't really developing and the errors are getting really distracting. Benedict is still acting like a dick but every so often he says something nice. Wren is flying by the seam of her pants and is so freaking lucky all the time and Rowan's just become a secretary
I really enjoyed this book in the series, firstly, it didnt have as many errors in the writing, big thumbs up. It did have lots of twists and turns, some mouth dropping scenes, scenes that made you cringe and scream other that left you in a dreamy state. WELL DONE!
Wren is kidnapped again, this time by her own choice to find the Fire Witches. To her surprise, Thad the sexy pirate is also captured along with her. This storyline has lots of twists and turns as we discover that Thad is not only human but demon half breed....but his he! So when they get to the Demon Stronghold in the mountain, all hell breaks loose. This story had lots of violence and some major disturbing scenes, READER BEWARE.
The chemestry between Wren and Thad gets strong, hot and heavy hear and there but they both continue to pull back....Thad is hiding something and Wren is mated with not one but 3 Drakens. Thad character is charming, smart and very sexy and Wren starts to connect with him on many levels she hasnt with her 3 mates....she still has that small section at the bottom of her wings to fill...will it be Thad...we dont get to find out in this book. This book really got my emotions worked up, especially the ending...hate cliffhangers. I fell hard for Thad in this book.
Things are also cooking up in the human city and Benedict has his hands full with a princess who is has eyes for the King. I loved the witch Astrid, she keeps him on his toes. Alliances are starting to for but trickery is afoot.
I am looking forward to the next book and how the author is going to bring this all to a close, not sure if the next book will be but it feels like things are coming to a head in a lot of the alliances that are being formed to finally bring down the Overlord.
***Now that I findishe this series...this was the best out of the 4.
I'm ashamed. I'm ashamed I continued to read when I should have dropped. My eyeballs hurt from rolling so hard and there might be permanent damage from all the cringing I did. This is trash. A bad one too. Author have tried really hard to describe horrible things happening and only succeeded on horror that the writing itself is. I didn't feel any pity for supposed victims and didn't feel hate for abusers. I did experience second hand embarrassment for characters. Have you seen the video of a still cat with voicover of "he sensed a single brain cell nearby, so he is sitting extra still in hopes of getting it" ? Yeah, these characters didn't even realise they are in dire need to have at least one brain cell. Nothing they do follows any logic. Like, none. The reasons behind their every decision is over the top grandiose self worth that is based in nothing. There are plenitude of emotions that are completely irrational and contradicts their position, predisposition or any sense. Author just gave whatever emotion she felt like her character was to have for that page with zero work behind why a character may experience. And it is all written off on instincts, bravery and grand smarts. With nothing in the actual story to show for it, to back it up. It's very chaotic. It gives you headache to try to follow that logic or even to try to understand. What a mess. I gave it two star rating just because I am very ashamed of having finished this book and Goodreads don't allow for negative rating. I rounded it up to the nearest star my consciousness and shame allowed me to award it.One more star would have been like loosing whatever brain cells I have left after wading through this mess of a book.
4⭐️ - I’m so intrigued. I love the constantly shifting dynamics in the group and how this coming battle is being built up.
Having been captured in the hopes of finding the missing witches, Wren finds herself in a prison cell in Severn’s castle. She finds Thad in the cell next to her, but it is not long before it is revealed that he is half-demon. Gaining their favor, he is granted Wren as a breeder. He protects her under the guise of staying in his room for breeding, and allowing her food and water and safety. The demons grow restless and wish to use her themselves, Thad tries his best to dissuade any advances.
Angry that his mate was taken from him, Benedict works to secure other alliances to get his mate back and gain standing in the coming war. Traveling to a human kingdom that is housing refugees from the war, he is confronted with a very flirtatious princess and a king who has no desire to agree to his demands. Staying in the palace and attempting to reroute the princess advances to anyone else, Benedict feels helpless. On their final night at the palace, all hell breaks loose when Severn appears as the betrothed of the princess, and the queen murders the king and then kills herself.
Finally confronting Severn back at his palace, Wren is able to escape with the prisoners and their children in a last ditch effort that pulls on all the magic of the entire draken race to pull it off.
Este livrito!!!!! Finalmente tive a história que esperava desta autora! 4 ⭐️
Conhecemos melhor também o Thad, este gajo gave us AT THE VERY LEAST 2 major gasp moments! E aquele fim!! 😩 Can’t wait para continuar a leitura!
Neste livro tivemos finalmente alguns dos grandes sonhos deles realizados e quase me emocionei quando aconteceram certas situações!
Mind you I like me a trashy book, este pode não ser uma obra prima mas its good in my eyes 🫶🏼
The story or continued series is fantastic. The author weaves a intriguing story that keeps you drawn in. Dragons are the main creatures the story is wrapped around but other fantasy creatures such as witches, demons, wolves, and old hunters become part of the story as they try to rebuild their own kind. Alliances are made and black and white magic is mixed. Half breeds are now born and villages are rebuilt. Wen started out with 3 mates and now has 4. I look forward to finding out how this queen handles 2 mates that are king in their own races. Does being a half breed really matter. The story only gets more exciting as the characters draw you in to their side.
I have mixed feelings for this book. It's irritating how Wren treats Thad like Benedict treated her... and how she keeps pushing and pulling on Thad like a toy. I get she wants to be faithful to her mates but it was a hypocrite move as she had suffered because the king treated her like that.
Benedict making Thad keeps secrets from Wren made her unsure if she could trust him and... as always my unlove for him keeps growing. At least now benedict tries to be better and tries to be deserving of Wren.
I still hate how the King tries to decide what's good for her and... that is like an itch I can't scratch
T R A S H Took me an hour and a half to read this dung and it could have been succinctly wrapped up in four chapters.
I got to 75% in the book before LITERALLY ANYTHING INTERESTING happened.
I’m genuinely concerned for all of the people who gave this shit 4 star ratings and I’m seriously considering the possibility of becoming an author if this is the kind of underdeveloped hogswash you people are giving four stars to.
Editing to add I had all 8 downloaded and I’ve just returned the other 5.
I liked this story but also it definitely had some shocking points it's 100 percent didn't go the way I had invisisioned. The cliffhanger has left me wanting more! Raven paints the perfect picture of strong woman in this third installment of rise of the drakkens. Wren is growing and changing into the woman she needs to be. I love seeing the change in her throughout the book. I need to know what happens now!! Hopefully there will be another one.
There I was starting this book thinking that it would be the last in the series and I would end this amazing story and puff I see the page count dropping and the problems aren’t fully solved and I panicked and the book ended and now I don’t have anything to do with my life.
So yeah I am dying inside… slowly but steadily… I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
This book does a great job of growing the world and rounding out the characters. It's bloody and primal, while also weaving a reverse harem love story. There is some SA mentioned in this story so I that's triggering it might not be the read for you. However it is handled in a way the I personally did not find too visceral. Overall, great read.
I mean it was pretty clear Thad was something other than human. And of course I had my suspicions. I also love how Wrens character is evolving. She didn’t wake up one day free of her past. But she works towards freedom every day. It’s a great thing to see and read about. Love it.
This was probably my favourite in the series so far. But I am stopping at this book, I saw some spoilers about book 4 and it’s just not what should happen after books 1-3 were building. All that for nothing. Also, the other 2 books could be read as standalone, not even about the main characters in books 1-4. So I’ll be stopping at book 3 🫣
Umm no. I need more. You can not end it that way & then that just be it. I did not binge read all 3 books over the last 24hrs for this to end this way. Absolutely not! I'm not ok.
This book picks up right where the last left off. Wren is working to find and save the witches while Benedict is trying to rescue her. Foe becomes friend as the battle continues.
Talk about stepping up the heat and suspense!!! I continue to be amazed at the quality of writing and the ability of Raven to keep pulling me in deeper with each book. Definitely binge reading the remaining books!!
Wren really pissed me off this entire book. I wanted to stop reading for so long. And everytime I thought she got her shit together she’d go and do some more dumbshit.
I really enjoy the Siren Series. The third book definitely did a good job adding more plot and left me wanting to start the fourth book right away. I will say the confusing Kieran and Ronan does get a bit annoying but you learn to just ignore and go with it lol. I’m excited to see more growth with the newly added female drakens.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
That is exactly how I'm starting to feel... I just thought I'd had a handle on the whole situation only to be lost yet again, this book series is going to ruin my fake nails 💅 😒 🤣
Wren finds herself kidnapped, again. This time it was her choice. She's hoping to find the missing witches to help secure her alliances. The real question becomes, is Thad there to help here, or hurt her?
This book is raw and gritty and dark. The multiple points view helped widen the story and flesh it out to see that Benedict had learned his lesson. That ending though...
