He’s the last client she wants to protect…

Elite Guardians bodyguard/former sniper CHRISTINA SHERMAN has protected uncooperative clients before—but this time, well her client is bossy, headstrong and occasionally eats off the floor. Yes, he’s a highly trained military working dog, but certainly her skills could be put to better use, right?

Not according to former Special Forces Air Commando GREY PARKER. He needs her help to protect his dog while he undergoes an experimental surgery that could restore his ability to walk. He just needs someone to keep his canine partner safe. Most of all, Grey wants back on his feet so he can track down a deranged scientist known as The Scavenger who unleashed a nerve agent that left Grey sidelined in a wheelchair.

When an attempt is made on Grey’s life, and dead bodies begin piling up—with evidence the same toxin is responsible—suddenly Christina is tasked with keeping both dog and soldier alive…and with them, the secrets that could stop a terrorist attack.

But this time, even Christina might be in over her head.

Dive into the exciting ignition to the Elite Guardians Collection.

This book was awesome! I love suspense, it's my favorite genre. Well, I love a lot of genres, but suspense just kinda ticks the box greatly for me. This one hits the ground running and just races toward the absolute BEST conclusion! Totally thrilling. I was holding my breath at times, even. Lynette Eason and Kate Angelo have done a marvelous job here, created believable characters, a dynamic plot that just won't quit and moved the action along at such a pace that the reader can't stop reading! And Boss the dog? Well, I think he is just the best book dog EVER! I just wanted to reach into the book, snatch him out and take him home with me. I loved that dog! Well done!

My thanks to Sunrise Publishing for a copy of this book. The opinion in this review is entirely my own.

Characters: Both Grey and Christina were well-developed characters with tragic backstories to increase the suspense. Grey’s partial paralysis added an interesting side plot. I also liked that Christina remained calm even when Grey blamed her for making a couple of mistakes.

Language: Clean.

Moral: Trust was a big theme in this book.

Plot: Plenty of action and suspenseful moments kept the plot moving, and I was surprised by whom the villain turned out to be :)

Romance: Clean. Just kissing.

Writing: Kate Angelo has a good writing style, and I’m looking forward to reading more by her in the future.

Overall: Driving Force was an exciting read, and I’d recommend it to those who enjoy Christian fiction and romantic suspense.

Disclosure: I received this book free from the publisher/author. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

For a debut author, the standard was very high.

When I first saw this season from Sunrise will take me back to Elite Guardians, I was super excited. But also, a bit nervous because Lynette Eason is a favourite author and I always have high expectations when I see her name. Kate Angelo did not disappoint.

Driving Force was a thrilling right from the first pages right till the end. The danger to the characters was around every corner, and the action fast paced and realistic.

Grey and Christina, both with their military back grounds, had great back stories, baggage to work through and I appreciated how Christina just lived her faith and through that guided Grey back to God. The star of the book was 100% Boss. I loved his scenes and how he interacted with all the other characters.

“God hears your prayers, Grey. Our world is broken and filled evil. It's our job as Christians to stand up and fight back the darkness. One way is through prayer.”

So, I did identify the bad guy from the start - not sure if that was intentional so that the readers know something the characters don't - but it did not dimmer my enjoyment of this book. I loved the snippets from the bad guy's POV.

Kate Angelo is an author to watch and if you loved Lynette Eason's Elite Guardian series, you would love this first book in the Elite Guardian Collection.

“God isn't some sort of genie, Grey. You can't expect Him to grant your every wish. Prayer is just one of the ways we can have a relationship with God. Just talk to Him.”

The ongoing adrenaline in this seamless collaboration of Lynette Eason and newcomer Kate Angelo produces an excellent spinoff of the Elite Guardians series. With an energetic beginning and honorable, unique hero combined with spunky, intelligent female protagonist, Driving Force checks all boxes for good inspirational suspense.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

“Driving Force” by Kate Angelo brings us back to the world of the Elite Guardians and features Christina Sherman and Grey Parker.
I knew I was going to enjoy this book and it definitely exceeded my expectations!

Christina, a bodyguard with the Elite Guardians, is tasked to keep canine Boss safe from harm. Someone wants to steal the dog, who has the ability to sniff out a deadly nerve agent. But then, after several attempts on Grey, the canine’s owner’s life, Christina realizes she needs to keep both dog and man safe.
Grey, a former Special Forces Air Commando, wants to find the person responsible for taking away his ability to walk. To do that, he knows he needs Christina’s help.
Along the way of trying to figure out who is behind the attacks, Christina and Grey open up to each other about their pasts and the guilt they carry, ultimately finding love.

“Driving Force” is rich with knowledge, filled with mystery and action, and gives someone hope that they can overcome a traumatic past with faith and love.
Ms. Angelo is an author to watch and is an exciting new voice in romantic suspense.

Wow, what a nail biter! My kind of suspense.
Former sniper, Christina, has become a bodyguard for the Elite Guardians Agency. She is bright and capable but mostly keeps to herself. Grey is a disabled veteran who is a dog handler with a special working dog, Boss, who is his best friend. Boss is so special that he is the one who needs protection.
A mention is made of Fort Leonard Wood which is very close to where I live, so that was interesting.
This is an accomplished book with more than a little excitement and intrigue. The bad guys are well-drawn and the good guys are just flawed enough to make them interesting and able to grow in their faith. “The word Christ jumped off the page and hit her square in the heart, confirming why she was here. God was her rock, the one who trained her hands for war and her fingers for battle.”
This is a great story to continue the Elite Guardian series. I liked reconnecting with characters from the series. I cannot wait for the next one.

What a great, action-packed story! This novel is the first book in the Elite Guardians Collection series, which is connected to and a continuation of Lynette Eason’s Elite Guardians series. I could not set this book down once I started reading it.

The main characters, Christina, Grey, and Grey’s military working dog, Boss, were phenomenal! I liked that Christina and Grey were both very skilled from their time in the military, yet both of them carried guilt from events in their pasts.

Grey was such a compelling character. He was wounded while in service and is confined to a wheelchair. He was a great combination of strength and ability and definitely someone who had worked hard to adapt to his life with a disability. Grey also had things he struggled with emotionally due to his limitations. His humanity came through vividly in this story.

I loved that Christina saw Grey as a man and not as a man in a wheelchair. There were times she even forgot about the wheelchair and instead of it making Grey upset, it was refreshing for him to be around someone who didn’t pity him or question his ability to do something.

The dog, Boss, was a wonderfully written character, as well. He was the perfect addition to the story and pivotal in their search for whoever was behind all the death and mayhem.

Wowza, this book has everything I want in a romantic suspense, and so much more!
Romantic suspense is my favorite genre and I tend to be very picky when it comes to books in this genre, so trust me when I say that Driving Force is an amazing book, and it instantly became a favorite of mine! Lynette Eason is one of my favorite authors and so when I heard that her Elite Guardians series was getting a reboot I was beyond excited to read them. With Driving Force Lynette Eason and Kate Angelo have given us a masterpiece that will be an absolute treat for romantic suspense readers everywhere!
Christina and Grey were fantastic characters, they are both awesome in their own right and they are even better together! I loved getting to know Christina better! And Grey is such an amazing (and hunky!) hero, he may be in a wheelchair but don’t let that fool you, the man is no shrinking violet, he’s every bit as tough and capable as Christina, I love how the author wrote his character and at the same time did a brilliant job of illustrating the challenges and frustrations that people with disabilities face every day, inspiring us all to be more compassionate and empathetic. And Grey’s Tesla, oh my word! Even if you’re not a car geek this one will definitely make your jaw drop and you just might find yourself drooling a little!
And Boss, he’s such an amazing dog, and I just love him to pieces!
This book has the perfect balance of romance and suspense, and also an amazing faith story which was one of my favorite parts of the book!
This author crafted a mystery that was absolutely fascinating (albeit a bit terrifying to think about) and I felt like I was learning new things while reading, which I always love.
Driving Force kept me on the edge of my seat from page one until the end. This first book in the Elite Guardians collection is not to be missed!
Kate Angelo is definitely an author to watch, and she totally has a forever fan in me!
Driving Force is on my list of favorite reads of 2022! I most highly recommend it, and cannot wait to read the next book in the Elite Guardians collection!

Guardians Elite bodyguard Christina Sherman is hired to watch over a highly trained working dog named Boss while his handler Grey Parker undergoes an experimental surgery to restore his ability to walk. She never dreamed this assignment would change her life. At first she couldn’t believe that Grey had hired Elite Guardians to watch over a dog. Soon though she is drawn into a highly dangerous world that deals with classified information and chemical warfare.
This book is a movie in the making. I was drawn in from the very first line. I felt like I was watching a thriller. I loved the way Grey and Christina really relied on each other to protect one another. They also really worked on their relationship with God. They each had different issues, but in the end they worked it all out. It was nice getting a glimpse of the other Elite Guardians bodyguards too. I loved Christina, Grey, and Boss. Can’t wait to read the next book!

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wooooowwwwwwww!!!!! And that right there is my review because it seems impossible to articulate anything else...give me a minute...okay, I think I'm ready to gush!

There is everything to love about this novel and nothing to hate about it -- except maybe it was over too soon? I savoured my listening experience (yay narrator Bethanne Reid!) from the very first gripping scene. Talk about high stakes tension! And Christina is some kind of ninja guardian with her cat-like grace and ability to leap buildings in a single bound (that might be a slight exaggeration, but it feels like she could if she put her mind to it.)

This heroine is socially awkward, more out of a desire to protect herself from engaging, fearful of being judged and found wanting. And her fellow Elite Guardians call her out on it and I love them for that. But for all her tough, military precision, she can turn into a babbling ditz around Grey when he puts on the charm...which is like all the time when he isn't yelling at her. :-)

I appreciated seeing a disabled hero featured in this story. Grey's internal struggles along with his alpha male persona really upped the tension and attraction (on my part and the heroine's.) And the relationship he has with the real star of this novel -- Boss, military K-9 extraordinaire -- is so much fun! Especially when Boss starts hanging out with Christina more than Grey. lol

Love the touches of humour Angelo brings to the intense plot, creating wonderful breathing moments in between high-action, danger-fuelled situations.

And the romance is just what you'd expect from two opinionated ex-military alpha types used to calling the shots. Fireworks doesn't begin to cover it! (Grinning madly while fanning vigorously.)

High-stakes suspense paired with high-octane romance equals high quality read (or listen) satisfaction.

Driving Force is an amazing, well written, edge of your seat romantic suspense! Kate Angelo, with Lynette Eason, brought the characters in this book to life. Christina Sherman, former Army sniper is now a bodyguard with Elite Guardians. Grey Parker, former Air Commando, works with his K-9, Boss to seek out chemicals that are highly dangerous. Boss, former Air Force K-9, is super smart and well trained. Somebody wants to get their hands on Boss so Christina and Grey must work together to stop the theft of Boss in this page turning, breath holding, fast paced clean Romantic Suspense book!
My thanks to the publisher and author for the ARC I received of Driving Force with no requirement for a good review! The opinion stated here is mine alone.

3.5 I think.

I really enjoyed the unique plot of this one, and Christina and Boss were wonderful. Gray...well... Hmm. He was fine for most of the book, but I really, really wanted him to apologize to Christina for being so angry at her FOR NO GOOD REASON. SHE HAD BOSS'S LEASH SECURED. NEITHER OF THEM REALIZED THE VILLAIN MIGHT BE AT THE PARTY. HOW IS THIS HER FAULT?????

Ahem.

I still enjoyed this. I hope that we find out in the rest of the series if the surgery was successful, but I'm not overly upset that this one didn't contain the full resolution of that.

If you like faith-filled romance, and a whole lot of action and suspense, Driving Force is the book for you! This book goes from zero to sixty in two seconds flat, and keeps you on your toes with more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco.

Christina is a former military sniper turned bodyguard at Elite Guardians, the protection company whose name perfectly describes the elite group of people who work there.

Grey is a former special forces operative/handler of K-9 Boss, who was injured in the line of duty. He hires Christina to protect Boss while Grey is temporarily out of commission with an upcoming surgery, hoping to get out of his wheelchair and back on his feet. Boss isn’t just a retired military dog. He’s much, much more, and someone is after him for nefarious purposes.

Attempts are made on Grey’s life to get him out of the way to hopefully get to Boss. A crazy scientist, a lethal nerve agent, a chameleon of an assassin, and more add up to non-stop action. I cannot wait for the next book in the series!

I received a complimentary advanced reader copy of this book. My opinion in this review is entirely my own.

Wow just wow! It's always fun when I find a new author to love. Kate Angelo is amazing. In Driving Force she teams up with Lynette Eason to continue the beloved Elite Guardian Collection. In my opinion, Angelo knocks this debut novel out of the park.
When Christina Sherman, one of the newer Elite Guardian bodyguards, encounters Special Forces Air Commando Grey Parker the bullets and sparks begin to fly. As Christina signs on to protect Grey's partner, military working dog, Boss, she doesn't know she'll be in danger of losing her life, and her heart!
This story is intense. The action seems to never stop and trouble lurks behind every corner. Christina, former military sniper takes on the challenge of protecting her nation's finest - the problem is soldiers are used to taking care of themselves.
I liked how Angelo paired Christina and Grey. I enjoyed how she explored the challenges our wounded warriors face with dignity and care. She didn't shy away from hard topics or the continued value our soldiers' services provide. She expertly navigated the journey and brought light to what is often unseen.
Sunrise Publishing and Lynette Eason did a wonderful job teaming with Kate Angelo in launching her journey into sharing her storytelling giftedness and adventures. Thank you, Sunrise Publishing, for the opporunity to provide my honest review of this book. All opinions are my own.

DRIVING FORCE is a great read for those who enjoy romantic suspense with a military and national security aspect. The suspense and tension build throughout the story to a climatic ending, which made for an entertaining read. The best part was the hero and his dog. They made this book. Recommended to those who like endearing characters, a strong faith element, sweet romance, and suspense.

I couldn’t help completely falling in love with the hero and his dog as well as their protector. Grey and Boss were definitely my favorites though and were the reason this story won me over. I liked that all the characters were fairly complex and likable. The story moved at a good pace and had enough action, suspense and romantic chemistry to keep me engaged. There was also a faith element weaved throughout the story that I didn’t feel was pushy or unrealistic. I thought the story was well balanced between all the aspects. The romance didn’t overtake the suspense and vice versa. I will say that the romance had some really great chemistry and was my second favorite thing in this story after Grey and his dog.

I did also have a few issues with the story. The heroine, Christina, makes some pretty big mistakes for her background and that didn't feel consistent with her character. There could have still been mistakes, but I felt that particularly the last one was a bit of a plot point forced into the story instead of something that fit in naturally. There were also other things that didn't work for me as far as logically and tactically for this type of suspense where there is a group of characters in security detail, bodyguards, military and police. I just had to suspend belief a lot or pretend that characters with these backgrounds would do things so differently (and kind of wrong). I've read some really good suspense and this had the potential to be good, but fell flat in that area. The ending also really dragged and there were things included that were unnecessary.

In the end, was it what I wished for? Definitely huge points for dog lovers here. Boss literally took the show along with his handler and partner, Grey. Christina was also a good character. The suspense and a few other things could have used more development, but it all worked out in the end. An overall enjoyable read!

Content: Some violence, but clean.

I can’t describe how ecstatic yet wary I felt when I came across a novel with a main character in a wheelchair. It’s a rarity to see such an overlooked group of the community in the spotlight, and I worried they would be misrepresented.

I needn’t have worried. The author clearly did her research and represented the community well. So well, in fact, that I had to tell my husband (a lifetime wheelchair user and athlete) about it, and he was pleased to hear there is a disabled character represented as healthy, active, and whole.

Suspense, more than romance, is my preferred genre. I don't much care for romance taking the front seat in any story, but many prefer that. On the suspense front, Driving Force was an exciting read. It was fun trying to follow the various threads back to the villain, and it was great getting to know the characters. Boss, the military dog, was the best. Can I just shower his furry head with kisses?

Bumping into some familiar Elite Guardians was great as well—a glimpse into the lives of old friends after the books ended. I loved the reunion that took place at the end of the book as well as the wheelchair basketball game. I don’t know if you’ve ever tried it, but getting enough lift from a wheelchair to chuck that ball in the hoop is so difficult! I tried, but it’s not in my skill set. Maybe because my arms were so tired from wheeling!

Kate Angelo created a fascinating story with unique and lovable characters, and I look forward to whatever springs from her imagination next!

**A request from my husband, in response to the disabled character having surgery that MAY help him recover the ability to walk in future books—please don’t take that path. Our community is underrepresented as it is, and most of us will never be able to walk again. We are whole as we are, living fulfilling lives as we are. Taking his story in that direction gives disabled people the impression that we’re not good enough to be represented unless we’re able to be “fixed.”

This was such a great start to a new series! Getting to meet Kate Angelo through her writing with Lynette Eason was fantastic! I can tell I'm going to be devouring all of her future suspense novels because she's good at this genre. There were so many elements to this story that I loved. I feel like after reading this, the author and I would get along in real life. I'll admit that I loved her talk about cars.

Let's talk about the important stuff though. I really liked getting to know Christina as a bodyguard. She was no-nonsense, but also human in her job. Not everything goes the way you hope, but you do your best. Christina was always trying to do her best.

Then there was Grey and Boss. They are a great team and with Christina added in, they're a force to be reckoned with. As they work together to protect Boss and try to track down the bad guys, we get to know them better. As they track down the bad guys, there are lots of twists and turns that you don't expect and the ending? I never would've guessed it!! Gotta hand it to the authors for being able to keep me in the dark for so long.

I also liked getting to know some of the other Elite Guardians. I haven't read the series that spills over to this one, but I have them on my tbr list and I'm starting those stories. I love it when characters from previous books make appearances in new ones so it'll be fun getting to know the side characters that filter into this series!

I'm so ready for the rest of the stories in this Collection!

*I received an ARC and agreed to leave a review. But all opinions are my own.*

I don’t read romantic suspense regularly so I don’t know what to expect. But this book was fantastic. I loved both of the main characters and their chemistry and resistance to start a romantic relationship felt very real. And who couldn’t love Boss. I am not usually a dog person, but if I had a dog like Boss, I probably would be.

I laughed out loud in so many moments. But I was also impressed by how smart this book is. You can tell Kate Angelo has done her research describing tech I didn’t even know existed. But the reader never feels lost in all that. I look forward to reading other novels by this author.

Kate Angelo has done a bang-up job with her installment for the new Elite Guardians Collection, a spinoff of sorts of Lynette Eason’s Elite Guardians series. Driving Force is an action-packed romantic suspense story with strong characters and an adorable dog. I liked the heroine, Christina Sherman, and the hero, Grey Parker, but the dog, Boss, was my favorite. I’m a dog lover, what can I say. Christina is a former Special Ops Sniper who finds herself guarding a dog. This provides a few moments of levity. Grey is a former Special Forces Air Commando, who was injured in a raid after being exposed to a nerve toxin. Grey is a person with a disability, which is a refreshing plot line. The pace is quick and there is a nice faith element in it that I enjoyed. Angelo has captured the essence of the original series and I’m looking forward to reading more books by her in the future. I received an ARC for review; however, I have ordered the eBook.

Scripture Connection
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Rom. 15:13
Spiritual Themes
The novel follows two characters at differing places in their relationships with God. Elite Guardian Christina finds her strength in Jesus, while Captain Grey Parker was raised by Christian parents, but no longer talks to God.

There’s some light discussion about why bad things happen if God is in control, as well as about prayer: answered and unanswered. Overall, the spiritual content felt fairly familiar to me. I think that other books in this genre raise similar questions (and offer similar answers) about how the characters can trust God in the midst of the violence they see on a day-to-day basis.

The above cited verse is included at the beginning of the text.

What I Liked
I requested the title because I saw Lynette Eason’s name (As a note, she did not write this book, but from what I can gather, she wrote the original series and sponsored other authors to write more recent additions). However, I didn’t read the description very carefully and was surprised, when I got it, to see that a dog would have such a large role in the plot. Honestly, when I read about Boss on the back cover, I was concerned that the book would be cheesy and I wouldn’t like it very much.

With all that said, Angelo does a great job of including Boss as a character. He fulfills a very specific and necessary role in the plotline. (It doesn’t just feel like, “Oh, wouldn’t it be cute to include a dog?”)

The mystery element definitely holds its own alongside the romance plot line. I was intrigued to learn who was responsible for the havoc and I feel like the clues were well-spaced, overall.

I liked the portrayal of women as strong and competent. While many romances follow a typical pattern with the male hero “saving” the female protagonist, Christina not only protects herself, but also defends others.

I also liked Grey’s parents, especially his mom. Grey shares about how, when he was growing up, she would spend hours with the Lord each day. I would have liked to read more about them both.

Mixed Feelings
A few elements I liked, but…

After sustaining a life-changing injury while in the line of duty, Grey is now in a wheelchair. I really liked that one of the protagonists is in a wheelchair, which is something I have never before encountered. Grey is also portrayed as being extremely strong, resourceful and self-reliant.

My hesitation is the way the wheelchair use is represented. Grey is very self-conscious about being in a wheelchair and hopes that an upcoming operation will enable him to walk, again. This seems very realistic.

At the same time, I’d be interested to hear the perspective of readers who actually use wheelchairs. Is the narrative empowering, as Grey portrayed as a hero, or does it strengthen an “us-them” mentality on the basis of ability, as Grey hates using a wheelchair? I’d also be very curious to hear the opinions of wounded vets or those who suffered paralysis later in life. Perhaps the narrative is more geared towards this group.

On another note, as mentioned above, I liked Grey’s parents. His treatment of his family annoyed me, a little.

Content
There are some short chapters from the perspective of the villain. I felt that these added to the revealing of the mystery, without being too creepy and graphic. However, this is very subjective and a valid content concern for some readers.

There are multiple kissing scenes, with some of the usual kissing descriptions— not graphic enough to constitute a deterrent, for me.

There’s a bit of violence, given the nature of the subject matter. I wouldn’t describe it as “graphic.”

This is a new content note, but something my mom and I talked about a bit this week is how Jesus is the only One who is truly “always there” for us. With that said, there was one line about how one character knew that the other one would “always be there.”

Recommendation Status
This was a fun book, but one that I would characterize as “light,” in spite of the subject matter. While there were a few spiritual discussions, I felt like the answers/resolutions were a bit too “easy,” or maybe a bit too “people-focused,” as in “all of a sudden after talking with you, my whole perspective suddenly changed. I do recognize that God can and does use people that way. I just feel like maybe the resolution didn’t match the extent of the problem.

For this reason, I wouldn’t really recommend this book to people who are currently asking the questions Grey asked. But, as a light read, it was a fun, romantic mystery.

Wow! This is one action-packed story from cover to cover. The writing team of Ms. Eason and Ms. Angelo have written an exciting story with Russian enemies, biological weapons, and danger at every turn. The story line made you feel like you were actually along with Christina Sherman and Grey Parker. I was caught up with them and didn’t want to stop reading.

Having a dog be the “person” that Christina as part of the Elite Guardians had to protect was a unique idea; I loved it! It was interesting to see that the highly trained military dog Boss is what really brought Christina and Grey together. I came to see he was a very special dog both in active duty and in Grey’s life.

Trying to figure out who the villain was behind the attacks and murders was intriguing and something I enjoy reading. It gave me great satisfaction when I was able to identify The Scavenger. However, I was not able to solve what his motives were and when it all came to light at the end of the story it made perfect sense.

If you have read the Elite Guardian series you will recognize some of the people since they are part of the team. However, you can read this as a standalone since the story doesn’t go into great detail about the other stories. I highly recommend this Christian suspense story. The faith aspect was that which I felt encouraged and was woven throughout the story in a meaningful way.

I was given a copy of this book and was not required to write a positive review. All opinions are my own.

In typical Lynette Eason fashion, Driving Force by Lynette Eason and co-authored by Kate Angelo features a high-stake chemical warfare race to justice. With characters like Christina, Greg, and the dog, Boss, the characters are fully developed, have a dark past that colors their view of the current situations. Angelo does a good job at having the characters play off these dark wounds and allows them to motive the characters in their current situations. As for the plot, their, of course, were plenty of moments of running from bullets and trying to chase down the Dr. and / or the Russians who are producing the chemical warfare. There were many high-octane moments that were mirrored over and over again, so it did not seem that inventive. With the dog and all his training, it reminded me a lot of Ronie Kendig’s A Breed Apart series, which I loved. I love seeing working dogs who are highly intelligent and put their lives on the line for our country too. Overall, Sunrise Publishing is definitely doing a wonderful thing by allowing accomplished authors to mentor unpublished authors and allow them to craft stories from the accomplished authors secondary characters. I love this idea. I believe that James Patterson started this, but this is the first of its kind for the Christian Publishing industry.

I received a complimentary copy of Driving Force by Lynette Eason and Kate Angelo from Sunrise Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.

Driving Force by Lynette Eason and Kate Angelo offers a highly entertaining story with plenty of suspense and mystery. The novel’s plot clips along from the beginning and held my attention throughout. Having a wheelchair bound hero (Grey) and a military dog (Boss) set this book apart from others in the romantic suspense genre. Grey and Boss felt especially unique and admirable. Boss proved to be amazing in many ways – his loyalty, intelligence, training, and intuition.

While Driving Force piles on the tense moments, Grey and Christina both have spiritual and emotional issues to deal with. The characters struggle with the answers they find, and that process added a depth that I appreciated. As expected, the action of the story takes center stage, but the character development enhances the story with its presence.

Driving Force by Lynette Eason and Kate Angelo stands as the first novel in the Elite Guardians Collection from Sunrise Publishing. This series spins off from Lynette Eason’s Elite Guardians Series, which I have not read. It was easy to guess which women were part of the former series, but sometimes a bit difficult to keep all the side characters straight. Driving Force works as a stand-alone novel and gives this new series a strong start. I look forward to reading the forthcoming novels in the Elite Guardians Collection. Four stars!

This collaboration between Lynette Eason and debut author Kate Angelo is fantastic, and it offers readers first-rate writing, characters that are intriguing, and suspense that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Driving Force begins with excitement, and it never lets up. Captain Grey Parker and Christina Sherman are the best kind of hero and heroine---flawed individuals who just keep trying to overcome the odds that they're facing. Add to this mix a dog that we'd all love to own, and this story couldn't possibly be any better!

This book has danger, non-stop action, lots of questions, and a romance that leaves you hoping for more. Throw in a hefty dose of faith and inspiration, and the results are a great start to a new series. Driving Force is a nail-biter that I couldn't put down and I can't wait to see what's next in this Elite Guardians Collection.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. There was no expectation of a positive review. These are my own thoughts.

Totally down to personal preference, but the "electricity" of the romance was a bit too overpowering for me and it took away from a lot of the suspense. The characters were likable individually and the setting was very easy to fall into. There was a good sense of urgency that kept the pace of the narrative moving forward, but it felt like the romance also got in the way, especially as quickly as it developed. I know I am also significantly more picky about romance than many other readers, and prefer the suspense to be in the front seat. I highly recommend reading other reviews as everyone has their own tastes, and even my complaint is not the writing itself. I could still easily recommend this one to friends who enjoy romantic suspense with a heavy romance thread.

"So you're telling me a chemical weapon will be unleashed on the United States, and the only thing standing in the way is that dog?"

"That's exactly what I am saying." O . . .kay . . . . . that wasn't exactly what Elite Guardian bodyguard Christina Sherman was expecting to hear from her new client . . . actually the intel had came from the mouth of his human partner, for Christina's new client was a highly trained military working dog; a national asset to be exact. And former Special Forces Air Commando Grey Parker was dead serious about the high level of protection that he envisioned for Boss, but after several up-close and personal encounters with flying bullets, Christina was convinced Grey needed the same. What neither of them saw coming was . . . . each other.

What an impressive dive into the world of romantic suspense! This story had everything a reader could ask for; flawed characters, an high stakes plot, a smart, intuitive Belgian Malinois, and a criminal whose twisted motives created a serial killer. The book is also a deserving tribute to the many wounded warriors who continue their service to our country from behind closed doors of security clearances and experimental rehabilitation. In addition, it felt wonderful to spend time with the Elite Guardians once again!

Christina Sherman is a former sniper, now a bodyguard with Elite Guardians, and tasked with protecting, of all clients, a military-trained dog named Boss.
The highly-trained canine belongs to Grey Parker, a former Special Forces Air Commando who is wheelchair-bound after being injured on the job by a lethal nerve agent.
Christina has her work cut out for her with a crazy scientist, a lethal assassin, and an undeniable attraction to her client—and his handsome owner!
Sparks fly—as do bullets—in this page-turning suspense with engaging characters and a fearless canine. A must-read for lovers of Christian romantic suspense.
