A Wildfire Used for Good

3.5 stars - Apparently, today is my day for insanely over-the-top reads. 😉

Kennedy finds herself in a predicament that Declan rescues her from. The "L" word gets used quickly and temperatures run hot and deep. As over-the-top as this is, there are some quirky and cute moments, plus that heat - and I'm not talking about the raging wildfire. 🔥

My favorite part is that second epilogue. That's what really makes a dream. 😍🔥

I received an author's copy of the audio book. The narrators are Heather Firth and Gabriel Thorne. It's my first time listening to either and I liked them both and look forward to another opportunity to listen to them again. I will say, they do bring a little extra *umph* to the steam. 😉

3.3 stars.
This was a bit ridiculous, I mean I guess all insta-loves are, but I’m specifically talking about the plot here.
It was interesting and something new. But still a bit ridiculous.
The California State Maximum Security prison sent female convicts to a forest fire to act as the sole defense against it spreading….?
Like I said, ridiculous.
But I enjoyed it, it’s not like I go into these books expecting realism. I just expect smut.
And this had that for sure.

It was sexy, and interesting, and sort of sweet. All the things I was looking for in this little indulgence of mine.
I needed a break from the complex plot I was immersing myself in, in a different series.
I’m feeling up for the challenge again after the simple smut of this book.
So. Mission accomplished.

Kennedy is a prisoner in an orange jumpsuit, who nearly dies in a forest fire trying to save some baby birds. Declan rescues her and is instantly all-in, because hellooo this is an instasmut novella and those are the rules. Then she tell him she was framed as a drug trafficker - does Declan worry she's lying about being innocent?

“I’d take you in even if you were guilty of much more than that.”

Hey don't judge me okay - but that's my love language. Too bad she's gotta go back to prison, right?

Does she really think I’m going to let her go back to that place? Does she really think I’m just going to let the girl of my dreams walk away? I saved her, which means she’s mine. I’ll burn down that whole prison before I let them take her and lock her away where I can’t lay my eyes on her stunning body and beautiful youthful face any longer. I’ll burn down the whole world before I let that happen.

Oh, you doubt his sincerity since he only met her 20 minutes ago? Just watch him fake her death - by soaking her shirt in her blood, burning her things, digging up a grave, feeding the bones to wolves, and lying to a very apathetic cop.

I had fun reading this, but there was so much focus on the details of faking a death and creating a new identity that the romance suffered. And a personal pet peeve of mine in the second epilogue:

36 years later:

He’s still a hottie. He’s a silver-haired fox now and his frame is as large as ever. He hasn’t lost one ounce of muscle with age. I seem to be turning into a prune with time, while he’s turning into a fine wine. It’s not fair.

Holy shit, prune? Why do I see this so often in "decades later" epilogues? Whose fantasy is this? I'm not saying she should look like a fitness model too - but can't she at least have more self esteem?

TLDR: Fast read, super safe, both virgins, morally gray shenanigans.

Kennedy immediately pulls at my heartstrings. Set up and convicted, she is all alone. Now she is expected to fight a wildfire with no training. She gets in a precarious position and is saved by Declan. Living in a cabin off grid, he is determined to save his home from the fire. He rescues the most perfect girl and decides to keep her. The state might have a say in that which is a complication for sure. Luckily, Declan is very motivated to give Kennedy everything she needs. Super sweet and over the top, as always, this author creates the most fun short romances. Check out Kennedy and Declan's story!

*Spoilers* Kennedy is in the Californian mountains with other convicts fighting against fire. She did not really know what she was getting herself into and how dangerous this job is. She feels overwhelmed and had no training, she still gives it her best effeorts. Most people do not really care for convicts, Kennedy is innocent, but noone believes her, she still is forgiving. She risks her life trying to rescue baby chickens. A tree falls between her and the other convicts and she is left alone. Then Declan hears somebody deep in the woods, where he is fighting the fire to rescue the nature he loves and his home. He saves Kennedy and immediately feels protective towards her, which is new for him. When they out of the worst danger he looks at her and becomes a man obsessed. Without knowing about her story he knows his angel is not guilty of a crime putting her in maximal security state prison. He tells her she is staying with him forever. She longs for it with all her heart, but knows she has to go back, which is breaking her heart. But Declan is not going to let her leave him and going through great length to set her free. Will they have a future with each other?
I amdire Kennedy, like in the beginning of the story she expected something totally different from the job, but did her best and tried to be positive. Also she is forgiving and loving, she could hate the whole world for how she was treated. She risks her life to rescue the baby chicks, not letting other people crushing her golden heart. It broke my heart, when she felt like she had to leave Declan. I also adores how Declan never questioned her innocence, just love Olivia Tuner's ott alphas. and what he does to set her free, warmed my hard. And then the sugar sweet epilogues...

Liked this OTT book alot!

A lil different " meet-cute" so to speak.
I enjoyed it alot. It put an interesting spin on their relationship as it developed that we haven't read in a million different variations before ,so I enjoyed that, even though admittedly I'll enjoy those other books by OTT as well, but that's why I had to give this 5 stars, ( I hold a handful of authors to bit of a higher standard in this genre, meaning I give most their books that I enjoy very much 4stars as a general rule, kinda weird some people might think, but my logic is that because their books for me are almost always in the '4 to 5 star percentile (so to speak), I leave that room for a higher rating cause I know they will exceed even my high expectations for them AND THIS BOOK is an example of that!

Side note: ( I seriously enjoy most all Olivia T.T. Stories, oddly her shifter series smudge less so than her others , say oddly cause shifter books are usually my " frosting " to gobble in this genre cake, but for whatever reason I ' like her's, but, don't gobble em... But that's kinda besides my point the last OTT book I have 5⭐ on was that book set in a post apocalyptic world - which is very not ready in ott s wheel house, but it was so cutely and smartly different, while keeping all the OTT author loving traits that we love , it was def an example of why I leave room for an extra star with some authors... Fans of this genre know where I'm coming form, he all have a handful of auto click authors, cause we know we'll like whatever they right 9.5 time out of 10; and the other .5 time we still ' enjoyed it, but maybe it was ehhhh instead of the usual ahhhhhhh!....) Ok I'm done... Great OTT BOOK HERE! AND for OTT fans, it's extra in my opine 😏🤗

Kennedy was put in prison for drug trafficking, but she was setup, she didn’t do it. She was sentenced to 36 years. There are wildfires in California and Kennedy volunteered to help fight them. She didn’t get any training but she did what she could. While trying to clear out dead trees and brush she heard chirping and she went to investigate. Three little birds were left behind and Kennedy got them down. When Kennedy turned around to leave she was surrounded by fire. Declan lives in the mountains and the fires are getting too close to his cabin. Declan is out cutting a break for the fire when he hears a woman calling for help. Declan finds Kennedy and he immediately knows she is his soulmate. The prison officials will be looking for Kennedy so Declan tears up her prison uniform. Declan take Kennedy back to his cabin after the rain came and put the fire out. Kennedy wants to enjoy her freedom for as long as it lasts. Declan wants to enjoy Kennedy forever. Neither one of them has had sex before. Kennedy and Declan end up having sex and they fall in love. Will Kennedy be able to stay free? Will Declan fool the officials? Will Kennedy and Declan find peace, love and happiness in the mountains?

My heart broke for Kennedy because she was sent to maximum security prison for a crime she didn’t commit and now she is trying to fight fires to save the Californian mountains out of the kindness in her heart. I love how she didn’t see the world as bad, evil but kept her innocence and goodness even in a horrible situation like the fires and doing her best to save the lives of the animals gets her separated from the grew. Declan sexy as all get out recluse mountain man fighting the fires to save nature and his home when he hears a cry for help and the moment he lays eyes on her he knows she isn’t capable of committing the crime they have her locked up for and decides to care for her, keep her save and free but her since of doing what’s right is at war with her she knows she needs to go back but he is insistent on her staying with him under his protection. When he learns the truth of her story will he continue to help her, will they clear her name, will the person who committed the crime pay, and can she find happiness?

Not Very Believable . . .

There were many things in this book that stretch credulity. Kennedy Ripken’s prison sentence of 36 years for drug trafficking is outrageously impossible. Sending prisoners with NO training into a wildfire would never happen for several valid reasons. Anyway, trying to ignore that and more that is implausible, this is a love story.

Kennedy has been wrongly imprisoned for something she did not do. In prison, she volunteered to help fight the California wildfires. Without training, she started to clear out the dead wood and brush when she heard baby birds chirping. They had been left behind in the nest, so she rescued them, only to find herself now surrounded by fire and trapped.

Declan is trying to protect his cabin from the spread of the fire when he hears someone in distress. He rescues Kennedy and takes her to his cabin. Rain has put the fire out. The two virgins decide to stay together and they fall in love. Will Declan be able to convince the officials that he has no information to help their search? Will he be able to keep Kennedy in his life in the mountains?

Kennedy is a convict, she was innocent but got over 30 years, she and some other inmates have been brought to the mountainside to help fight a forest fire. She hears some birds, goes to rescue them and gets trapped by the fire. The big mountain man comes thru the fires and sweeps her out of danger.

Declan lives on the mountain, he has enough money to keep him in comfort for the rest of his life. He expected to be alone until the end of his days, when he hears a scream for help he runs to assist. Declan had no idea his life was about to change, she is what he was missing from his life. She maybe in a prison jumpsuit, but she will not be going back.

In typical OTT (Olivia T Turner) fashion, this mountain meets his one and does everything needed to keep her. If you have read her other books, you will not be disappointed.

This is book number 5 of the Mounting Mountain Men series and focuses on Declan and Kennedy. Kennedy was serving time in prison for a crime she didn’t commit when she volunteered to help fight a forest fire. When she gets to the fire, she is completely lost about what she is supposed to do but makes the best of the situation she is in. She finally starts to get into the swing of things when she hears some baby birds that are stuck. She refuses to let them die so she risks her life by running into the fire and getting stuck. While she’s stuck, she discovers Declan. Declan knows from that first look that she is the one he has been waiting for his whole life. He goes to some pretty extreme measures to secure her future and to make sure that his woman is able to stay with him for the rest of their lives. This was such a great book with a great OTT alpha. This was a great addition to the series!

I really enjoyed this book. Kennedy was sentenced to prison for a crime she was set up to take the fall for. She and a busload of other prisoners volunteer to help stop a wildfire from spreading across a mountain. When they arrive, she realizes she is completely out of her element and learns she was supposed to have training- which she never got. In the midst of the chaos, she spots some baby birds in a nest that would be burned alive and runs to save them. Once she has them, she is surrounded by fire and cut off from the group, believing herself about to die. Declan lives alone on the mountain and is doing all he can to save his home. When he hears a woman calling out for help, he rescues her from the flames. Once they're safe and he finally gets a good look at her, it's love at first sight. He'll do anything to keep her with him and prevent her from going back to the prison. A really fun read. Unlikely to ever happen like this in real life, but still a nice romance. 4 stars.

Kennedy was part of a fire fighting group from the prison, clearing a line to help stop the travel of the fire. She sees and hears a nest of birds nearby and goes to get them away from the coming fire, but gets trapped in a circle of flames. Mountain man Declan is also cutting trees nearby to protect his area of the forest when he hears her calling for help. He gets her out and back to his place and they come up with a plan..... The characters are well developed and work well together. Loved the thought the author had for the details and plans that followed, to get the state to declare her dead from the fire and wolves. The personalities were great and the interactions were seamless. The storyline was unique and had a lot of drama, danger, surprises and the romance that was off the charts. Well done ending that fits right in.

2 1/2 Hummmmm Stars........I realize these books can take some "poetic license", but come on. For a person with no criminal history and a foreign national to receive a prison sentence of 36 years for drug trafficking is nuts. Sending prisoners with absolutely zero training into a wildfire is not going to happen, imagine the liability. And let's not confirm an identity with DNA, let's just let it be. Seriously, what the what. If we didn't have ALL those issues, I rather liked this story. Kennedy and Declan's story could have been believable, could ave been steamy, could have been a fast, fun, sizzling read. But I had a difficult time with the silly premise. The only thing good is you can read this for free with KU. No money lost.....

Kennedy has made some dumb mistakes in her life but trusting a woman she hardly knew in a hostel was the worst. The woman had nicely offered to pay for Kennedy fly with her to another city. Upon arrival at the airport, a drug sniffing dog pointed out Kennedy. Her roommate had planted bricks of drugs in Kennedy's suitcase. Due to a horrible lawyer, Kennedy finds herself in a maximum security prison for the next 30 some years. Kennedy feels so out of place. Then she volunteers to help fight a wild fire to earn money in prison. With no training she finds herself trapped by the fire and screams. Luckily Declan, a mountain man is nearby and saves her. The two fall in love at first sight and Declan wants to keep her but Kennedy doesn't want to get him in trouble. Declan refuses to let her go and takes a big chance so they can be together.

He believes that she is innocent and will stop at nothing to keep her with him forever. He sets his plan in motion to make it look as though Kennedy died in the fire and then eaten by wolves. Kennedy becomes Kayla and finally becomes Anna-Marie.

This hot little number will set your kindle ablaze! Olivia doesn’t disappoint with Declan and Kennedy’s story.
Declan is focused on saving his mountain and home as a wildfire threatens to take it.
Kennedy was wrongly accused of a crime and is now serving her time, when she volunteers to go and help try to contain a wildfire.
When these two meet, more than fires around them threaten to burn them up.
Olivia didn’t skimp on the steam and she brought all the over the top alpha goodness with Declan. I enjoyed this short and spicy romance with two characters that are just as smitten with each other as I am with them. This a great one to grab if you are looking no drama, an OTT alpha mountain man, perfect amount steam and a sweat HEA. I can’t wait to see what this author writes next!

Alpha Mountain Man that packs some Heat!

Olivia T. Turner writes a great over-the-top alpha male that will do anything to get his girl and you can't help but to love Declan. Absolutely love him and Kennedy together and this fresh plot twist.

Kennedy was wrongly convicted and sentenced to over 30 years in prison even though she was innocent. There's a big wildfire and they're using convict volunteers to help fight the blaze. Kennedy gets trapped by the flames and Declan comes to her rescue, and now that he has her, he's not letting go. Loved this! Fun and enjoyable to read! Definitely check it out!

The fifth installment of Olivia T. Turner's fabulous Mounting Mountain Men series, Mountain Man Rescued, is my favourite. A wonderful, OTT, steamy and sweet instalove romance, Declan and Kennedy's love story is original, entertaining, and swoon-worthy. When tasked with a group of fellow convicts to help fight a bad wildfire in the California mountains, Kennedy ends up separated and soon in danger - until Declan, who is out trying to save the mountainside and thus his home, comes to her rescue. Instantly enamoured with the young woman, the alpha mountain man is intent on making her his, even if he has to break the law to do so. A definite must-read in this awesome series!

Love the story and the characters were fantastic. It was enjoyable, falsely imprisoned, entertaining, some drama, and plenty of steam and love. Stories are entertaining and they take you on journeys, do they have to be totally accurate, no, I love to get lost in every story that I read. I'm sorry that Kennedy was set up and sent to prison for 36 years for something she didn't do. I'm so glad that Declan saves her from the fire and that he was able to make it look as if she was killed and burned in the fire. I wish there had been a way to really find Kennedy innocent but the story gives them a good life. Was a beautiful story with an HEA.

This is exactly what an OTT book should be. Absolutely bonkers in the very best way. Kennedy is a convict at a maximum security prison being used to fight a wildfire. Declan lives in a secluded cabin in the woods. He ends up saving Kennedy in more ways than one.

Declan is the growly alpha we all deserve. The lengths he goes to freeing Kennedy from her prison sentence is insane. But he’s sexy and possessive and downright feral.

Did I have to suspend disbelief to get through it? Yes. But was it fun and sexy and just a delightful read? Also yes.

This was a fantastic read and I absolutely loved these two. I could not put it down until it was finished. This story was different then the others Olivia T Turner has written, but it was just as great. The reader is swept into the story from the very first page, the suspense and action, the passion and chemistry, the instant love.
I could not imagine going through what Kennedy has. Sure her life hit a hard bump and seemed to spiral out of control, but when all seemed lost she found her mountain man... well he found her and knew no matter what he will do everything he can to protect her.

Declan is on his mountain working to put out the forest fire. He finds Kennedy trapped by the fire and immediately determines that she is the one for him! Kennedy has been incarcerated for a crime she didn’t commit and volunteered to help put out the fire to keep busy and try to forget her misery. She finds some baby birds and has to help them since their mother flew away due to the fire and she ends up trapped by the fire as well! Declan saves her from the fire, can he save her for the rest of her life?

Kennedy and Declan helping to save a burning Mountain

Kennedy is on her way to help stop the fires. But, our heroine doesn’t know a lick of what to do. No training what’s so ever. As another woman Angela sees her and instructs her what to do, Kennedy is busy helping along her new friend. But, she get sidetrack and gets lost and is by herself. Luckily Declan Tatum is also trying to fight the forest fire. Cutting down trees to block the fire in. But he hears a cry for help. Once he sees Kennedy he knew she was it for him. Can these two strangers fight this fire and fall in love? Loved this quick steamy insta love story. I hope you do too.

Love doesn’t care about what’s going on, it just is.

I loved this story. It was original, entertaining, and enjoyable. The characters were interesting and likable. Declan and Kennedy met while both of them were fighting a forest fire. They were immediately attracted to each other. Kennedy had convinced herself that she couldn’t have him and that she had to leave. Declan was determined to keep Kennedy and immediately started making an over the top plan for how he was going to make it so that he could keep her. There was a tiny bit of drama and angst. I loved their happily ever after. I recommend reading this book.

She says she's innocent. She signed up to be one of the wildfire fireworkers at $3 an hour while still wearing her prison jumpsuit. Being the chaos of fire and smoke and trees in the Bree, she tries to save save some wildlife. In the meantime gets surrounded by fire. A mountain is trying to save his house and forest, finds her trapped in the fire. from there is a whole other adventure to save his angel. Is honestly the best policy in returning back to jail or break the law? Interesting take on a mountain man and his devotion. Good steamy read. No cliffhanger

This is a fantastic story by Olivia T. Turner. I always love reading anything by her. I never want her stories to end.

Kennedy is in prison for a crime that she didn't commit. She is now out on a work detail trying to stop a wildfire. When she sees three baby birds that need rescuing, she doesn't think of her safety. Now, she is trapped. Declan is not going to let this fire burn his home. He doesn't expect Kennedy though. She is the one for him. Will he be able to keep her safe? Will they get a life together?
