Ce n'est pas le meilleur livre de la série. Il n'y a pas trop d'action ou d'intrigue, seulement un cadavre et un affaire avec la reine. En fait, il semble un roman de transition avant la rupture définitive de Nicolas avec Sartine.

A little slower, and now quite as interesting as the earlier books in the series. Still, quite interesting anyway and I was happy to note that I'm getting more fluent in French.

Mystery plot doesn't hang together at all, lots of historical detail. It took me so long to read, I want it to have been better than it was.
