Characters and plots are really coming together as Cassie and her friends travel to various locations to right injustices. The supernatural angle is definitely less “campy” than I found it at first. On to Betrayed in Ashes!
Maybe It's Just Me I've stayed with the Cassie Quinn series since the beginning. But it seems to me that the last couple of books have led the story a bit off the rails. Book 5 was nearly manic with the happenings in Chicago. Then this one comes along and it's got a strange relational vibe to it as well. In fact, it seemed to me that the main characters spent more time on their interpersonal relationships than they did working this case. A case which they have no right to work.
I'm fine with suspending belief for stories of this nature, but this series seems to have taken a weird turn ever since Cassie's detective friend was murdered. I'll probably hold on for one more story in this series, hoping for improvement and a return to the early style of the series.
This book is better than the last one, but still, so much of what made the series so good at first is missing. Cassie's gift did actually make an appearance, but just briefly. Also, there was a bunch of stuff here that was absolutely irrelevant to the story. Once again, a book whose events could have been summed up in a few paragraphs. This book and the last could have been a couple chapters in a much better book. I've seen this series compared to Ghost Whisperer. I completely agree. Because, for me, Ghost Whisperer started out so good and then steered away from that into something predictable and thoroughly unentertaining. Please tell me the next book is going to be back on track.
This one was a Twister, but it somehow manages to End Happily
The best part is the very ending when Harris and Cassie end up as best friends after solving David's Murder and killing off his murderer, the evil man who was running a crime empire that had taken over the South and working his way West. The two women promised to be there for each other as David was for both of them. They all took down the head of the crime syndicate with Jason's friend in every place they end up. But there is so much more happening that the romance between Jason and Cassie is old hat by the end. Jason has not changed his lifestyle and his relationship, but has also switched careers and finally helped Cassie to do what she has always secretly wanted to do, but wouldn't let herself even think about it. So it seems like everything is turning out for the best! But Apex is still out there and has set its sites on both Cassie and Harris and has figured out how to blackmail them to get them to work for them, the most powerful and totally corrupt pibliv8ty company that will not stop at murder, even of people's children to put who they want 8n places of power all over the States, and maybe further.
Adelaide, Cassie and Jason are on the trail of proof against the kingpin that ordered so many deaths including David. Every time they get close someone disappears or is found dead. They finally get the goods on the King of Savannah and his "team" and the illegal business he conducts along with the torture and death he orders to tie up loose ends. Aguilera is dead, his right hand man, Harper Brown and a considerable amount of the SPD are in jail awaiting trial. Cassie has played to rest many ghosts, Jason is opening a new business as a PI, Cassie will be part time at the Museum and part time with the SPD thanks to the new Assistant Chief, Adelaide and will help Jason in her spare time. Great series, easy to follow and hard to put down.
This whole series has been a disappointment. The main character, while having the potential to be interesting, sinks into emotional introspection far too often. In this story, the author(s) give in to the current belief that in order to appeal to the masses, the story must contain the following: at least 1 gay character, at least one female character that wants to kick everyone's ass, a overly security conscious bad guy that really isn't. Rather than being a mystery, more time is spent on the budding relationships, gay and straight, than is spent on storyline. Mr. Ryan's other series are far better at delivering both mystery and action. The best summation for Cassie Quinn stories would be that they are definitely for the feint of heart
I do find these stories gripping and entertaining. I like the characters, especially Cassie. The way she as come into her authentic self has been inspiring. But the continued cliff hangers, whether subtle as this one is, or shocking as the announcement of David's death was, is frustrating. So far I was ok with it. I next book was ready to read. Yes, the next book is out, but if we go by established pattern, it will be another couple of books, (two years) before we get the resolution to the question presented at the end of this book. So, do I want to stop here and be satisfied with this happy-for-now conclusion? Or see what happens next? Maybe I will just wait until this next trilogy is concluded. Decisions! Decisions!
Cassie Quinn and Detective Harris go to Los Angeles to find Reed and Emily's body. They found Emily's body, and they met Detective Greene who was going to help them find Reed. L.T. Ryan and K.M. Rought weaves this story so compellingly and thought provoking so you want to know what will happen next. It is very difficult to put down this book. The book is very exciting with twists and turns to keep you guessing. A great thriller you do not want to miss! Happy reading! 😊
Twists and turns, ups and downs, definitely a series worth reading! The characters grab your attention and heart. So light a fire, grab a drink and settle in for interesting reading that will take your mind off the chilly/cold winter and turmoil ahead.
God Bless and stay safe, stock up for the hard times ahead of us, food, books to read, take some self defense classes, arm yourself with what ever is legal where you live. Converse with your higher power.
This was another quite enjoyable book with a lot of twist and turns. Somehow, Cassie's struggle with personal relationships seems to take over, though. I wish the author had concentrated more on the task on hand. Cassie's struggle with her personal relationships and insecurity sometimes makes her come across as a pathetic basket case, something the author may not have intended.
Also, while the books are a series, any reader of just this book without having read the previous books would be at a definite disadvantage.
Loved this novel, so many twists and turns, betrayals and powerful enemies. Cassie's psychic abilities are tested as she struggles with evil forces and fights for justice. In Los Angeles she works with Detective Harris to uncover the hidden truth behind the murder of her friend. With Joshua and new friends they work together exposing themselves to many dangers. Another fast-paced thriller from Ryan and Rought.
Cassie Quinn is psychic and she's been helping the police. She and her friends go up against some really terrible people. She finally finds out what happened to her friend David and she wants to find out more about Apex. I highly recommend this series of books, there's action, mystery and paranormal to keep you reading until the end of each book. I can't wait to read the next book.
I have enjoyed every book that I have read by LT Ryan. This Cassie Quinn series is one of my favorites, too. Cassie’s extra special talents are fun and this particular story zooms all over the country with Cassie and Adelaide. Now, too, they another member of the team who sounds like he will be permanent. This book is as exciting and entertaining as the rest of his books. I definitely recommend it.
A fun thrill ride, and a satisfying conclusion to the second larger arc in the Cassie Quinn series. With almost non-stop action from start to finish and a lot of interesting new character beats, this book widens and deepens the world we thought we knew. Although there are a few loose threads left behind (that seem like ones that won’t be picked up again), this book did a great job wrapping up all that it needed to.
Cassie and Harris have made it to LA in search of Reed. He's their only chance at taking down Savanah's Kingpin! But in a city as big as LA, how will they find him?! This was a fairly fast paced read. Started a bit slow but once things started happening...hold on to your hat! Characters are becoming more complex and I like that about them. They all work well together. Looking forward to the next one. Highly recommend
Enjoyed the interactions between all the characters, quick actions, following tips and hints , then on to the next scene. Boom, when you never expected it they were off on the roll again. Almost like being on a ship in bad weather, Rolling one way, do a reverse roll then fly off in another direction to all come perfectly together at the end! Very good book!
Fast paced storyline with interesting characters. Betrayed at every turn by those you are supposed to trust like police office and those no one trust like politicians. While Quinn and Harris work to unravel the clues to Davids murder every witness is killed just before they reach them or shortly after. A leak? Yes But who? Will they survive this layer of betrayal?
Cassie is so real, other than her special ability. She vulnerable, gets scared, yet she's strong enough and smart enough to handle dangerous situations. And she's really good at following her gut/instincts no matter what anyone else says. She's also loyal and determined from Savannah to Chicago to Los Angeles she will complete her mission no matter the cost to her. Great job. Thank you. Looking forward to more of Cassie in her new position.
Another great Cassie Quick. .mystery by L.T.Ryan and K.M.Rought
Cassie and Officer Harris are pricing together to what happened to their friend and colleague David . Who murdered him was it the so called King of Savannah's underworld and why? Who murdered the woman that showed Cassie where to find her body as well as why they killed her was there evidence that was sent go her sister or was it hidden so much is in this book to ponder and how will the next book play out.
These Cassie Quinn books have had me in a chokehold for the last week. It’s been a good series of mysteries that wrapped up well. I will admit that at times Harris got on my nerves with her dogged habit of running straight ahead into things, and not listening to Cassie, but it worked in their favor. Hopefully, the next book won’t end in a cliffhanger because book 8 doesn’t come out until August 2024
This is one of those books you stay up late reading and squeeze in reading every single moment you can until the last page is read. After the cliffhanger from the last book, you want to know if Cassie and Det. Harris find Reed so they can get justice for David. This book gives you the satisfaction your soul is crying out for.
Detective Harris is suspended. She goes rogue dragging medium Cassie along for the ride. They are determined to vindicate Cassie's mentor and friend and bring a notorious crime boss to justice.
This is a fast and exciting read. Cassie is more confident of her abilities. The pace is good and although the story is improbable it is fun.
I like the idea of more background of Caddie and Det Harris. Also the possibilities of Cassie and Jason budding romance. Anyone who likes mystery, paranormal thrillers and romance will enjoy this read. The rating I gave was because of the ongoing saga of Cassie Quinn ( loving it)!!
This was a fast paced and very intense story. It gave us more insight into Cassie’s gifts and some of what she can do. I loved that the relationship with Jason is moving forward and that he’s found what he wants to do. I was more impressed with Detective Harris in this book and I am excited that Cassie is now going to be a consultant.
Cassie and Det. Harris follow the trail of the accountant to California. Jason shows up to help Cassie. They are betrayed by someone that Det. Harris trusts and Cassie doesn't, and this creates tension between the two. Just when they think they are lost the trail they return to Savannah and their investigation breaks open.
This was actually one of the best (so far) Quinn mysteries that I've read 😃. I really enjoyed all the action, intense situations, nasty bad people and fantastic characters 😉. Thanks again L.T. & K.M. y'all went above board with this story and I'm looking forward to reading the next book 🤓.
I truly enjoy the Cassie Quinn series! I love the characters and storylines. There's always something new that keeps it interesting. This time traveling to solve crime, working with a new precinct, new detectives, and locations. Things get shaken up when they stay with baby sister! Good stuff! Looking forward to the next book.
Trying to figure out how to find the people who have the information needed to destroy the individual responsible for David's murder in Los Angles was difficult and caused some problems between the four who was trying to get that information. Would they succeed?
I really enjoyed this book: however, the long wait between the series deflects from the story. It’s too easy to forget many of the important details. There should be less wait time between books in a series.
Another thriller from my favorite author L. T. Ryan.. Just when you think you know what's happening , everything changes and gets more exciting. It's a book you don't want to put down.
