You’re not supposed to fantasize about your stepsister. You’re not supposed to desire having everything with her. Our love is forbidden, where all I can hope for are stolen dark nights. When it comes to Skyler, I’m grateful for whatever I can get…for now. Nothing will stop me from claiming and loving her for the rest of my life.
An erotic romance series with a twist, and an alpha male lead that knows what he wants and won't stop until he gets it.
Warning: This story is intended for adult readers. It contains some dark themes that may be triggering for some readers.
The amount of stuff that went on in the story should have been in a 300+ page book, not a 76 page novella. I honestly would love to see the author take this and turn it into a novel because I could see this getting many 5-star reviews if that were the case. I also think that it would have been better suited to people who were in college rather than high school. The blurb at the very end says "with a twist" but I think that needs to be more prominent in the description! Definitely there's a twist.... I would also call this a HFN not a HEA although that is through no fault of the main characters, just the way the author ended the book.
I loved this book! It had so many dark sides I couldn't put it down.real love versus obsession what more can a girl ask for in her reading.... Lol bravo to the author became a fan with this one.
Her books are always well wriiten and this is no exception I loved it just like I loved all her books. I like to read about possessive men and she writes them very well.
Steamy, dark, with strong possessive tendencies. Skye’s mom announces that she’s getting married, but Skye hasn’t spent much time with her new step father. Oh, and he has two kids? This should be fun she thinks sarcastically. She worries that it’s moving too fast.
Jasper is used to doing it all alone, since his dad isn’t very helpful at home and tends to ignore them. He’s used to it. The moment that Jasper looks at Skye...he’s obsessed. He wants to possess her even while he’s freaking out that she’s there. He worries about school and guys wanting to date her and his mind races. This book is A RIDE. From hot steamy sex, to stalker vibes, to insta-love and kidnapping. You need this in your life if you’re not afraid of a little darkness and hot sex.
Uhm…what just happened?! So the story IS there, but the writing just isn’t it. Going for dark and possessive but using big, sophisticated words for descriptions just didn’t work. The dialogue is very, very juvenile which makes sense as they’re in high school; that being said, they’re seniors so I’d think they’re a little more exposed to the world of dirty talk than what is used in this book.
It’s a short story, but the detail is not there. It feels very, very rushed and jumps around quite quickly. You go from one extreme to the next in a matter of a page. I did enjoy the characters and I think that they could really be amazing, but there was not much character development done. I’m all for jumping right into the spice but this book just had me kind of baffled and the spice factor, for me, was just pretty awkward!
155. Possessive Stepbrother - Alana Winters Finished 06/09/21 ⭐️/5 🔥/5 87 Pages & On KU💛 👫Skylar & Jasper
I mean the storyline was there, the concept was okay...
But the execution? HELL NO.
The insta-love was really off putting, there was no real build up or suspense, the sex was GRIM, awkward. REALLY awkward. It reads like it was written like a journal entry of a dream from a 15 year old. And the "twist" - no. Just no.
I'm not against taboo - or possessive alpha-holes (check my read list) but this missed every mark. Wouldn't recommend - sorry. At least the author got some money through KU with me reading it! :/
(I had saved quotes and they disappeared - so disappointed)
The possessive stepbrother aspect was intriguing, but I just felt like this book needed more of a story line. It was a taboo romance and instant attraction from the start. The scenes were steamy, but there wasn't much to the story line beyond that. There was a creepy best friend which I would have liked to have seen more of. I feel like many aspects of the story could have been elaborated and this would have been really good.
Needs some work. The storyline could work but the whole thing needs development. The love at first sight could work, but the dialogue was unrealistic and juvenile. Thoughts were jumbled in the writing.
Omg what did I just read?? And because I actually finished it, as it distracted me from the previous book I read (the tear jerker) I had to give it an xtra ⭐️ I just couldn’t bring myself to read book 2.
WTAF did I just read, it feels like a teenager new to writing went onto wattpad to ramble something. It is beyond juvenile, has continuity issues and is just wrong.
This book could have been really great I just think that there was too much going on for such a short book. The story could have really flowed better if it was longer and some of the situations in the book were more stretched out and not so rushed.
