Throwing the perfect party for a siren's birthday is hard enough. Keeping the fussy client happy while trying to stop a killer might be more than the twisted sisters can handle.

When Dahlia is suddenly thrust into the future during a seemingly ordinary meeting, the sisters find themselves at a loss. Lia is haunted by visions of murder, but no one knows who they can turn to for help.

With a persnickety siren demanding an under-the-sea themed birthday party, the sisters could just dive deeper into conch shells, seahorses, and starfish. But when a dead woman is dumped on a busy road, it seems hunting for a killer none of them can identify is now their most important job.

Besieged by zombies, embracing new abilities, and navigating the mounting tension with the Voodoo Queen makes this adventurous new midlife more complicated by the day. The sisters no longer fit in the mundane world, but it seems the magical realm doesn't want them either.

Time to put on their big girl pants and show both worlds what they're made of.

Dahlia and her 5 sisters have opened a party planning business at an old plantation house.
They have also found out they had dormant psychic and magical abilities that had been hidden.
They are working with each other to remodel and fix up the old house.
So they next party is for a Siren's birthday. She is starting a new life.
The bartender is a fame demon and thrives on all the attention at the party.
The wolf shifters are providing security and pixies have moved onto their property looking for a new home.
Meanwhile, just to make things interesting an evil being is stalking a young witch locally.
And one of the sisters gets a vision that she will be killed if they don't figure out who is the perpetrator before hand. Not so easy when the visions don't show the person's face...
Lots of adventure and things going on!

Please note that this is book 2 in the series! If you read this like I did, without reading Book 1, you will be confused. So many characters that are important to the story with so many challenges for them. I struggled through about the first third of the book before I figured out(sorta) what was going on. Once I passed that point, the book became easier and more enjoyable to read. I gave it 4 stars for having so many characters that keeping them separate and understanding what was going on was a challenge. The actual writing and punctuation were good. As part of an even larger series, I would say read the prior books for the best reading experience. I was given this book from the author through Booksprout, and this is my honest opinion.

I really wanted to love this

I really wanted to love this story! Unfortunately I just could not connect with it. I read the 1st one and wanted to give the 2nd one a good shot before leaving a review. The idea of the story is what drew me to it. The story line was entirely to hard to follow. Too many characters coming at you all at once. Having 6 sisters all with names starting with D’s wasn’t the issue. For me it was the confusion on who was who. Example: You have a sister who they call Leah but then turn around and use her given name. It was to much to keep up with. Then all the additional people popping in and out to many things to follow at once and somewhat confusing.

This is book two of the Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom series and the Twisted Sisters have been hired to hold a party for a siren, out at their plantation. The six sisters are getting used to the magic that Phoebe awakened in them in the first book. Each sister has a different ability and it is Lia’s (Dahlia) smell vision that brings trouble, when she gets two visions, one after the other, of a woman’s cadaver being left at the side of the road, up against a hotel building on Canal Street. Lia and Dani (Danielle) were on their way back from The Final Swallow, off Canal Street, where they saw the siren Nedasea about her party, when Lia had her visions. They have the party to organise as well as lots of other outside providers to organise for the party, such as catering and drinks, which they can’t do themselves at the plantation, but Lia is stuck on her future vision and wants them to help her save the woman from a horrible death. The party is going to take quite a lot of organising already, as the siren wants an under the sea theme, with large conch shells! They don’t have a pool, but do have some large fountains and the CNC machine and laser to create the shells in various sizes. They also got to meet a demon without a glamour, at the bar, Brezok, who may be their answer to providing drinks at Nedesea’s party.
The sisters are visiting by a new group of supernatural beings, seeking a safe haven on the plantation and could be very useful allies in the magical world they know so little about. Cami is gaining more confidence in her daily life, but still asks before she acts in many occasions, so the sisters have to make it clear that they see her as family and not a slave as she was formerly, with a very important part to play in their tours of the plantation for visitors. When zombies attack, they have no idea how they got through the wards on the plantation, but with one of the sisters able to materialise a machete or two, they finally manage to defeat hem, but not without injuries to themselves! A recent ally is fundamental to them learning how to heal and more about their magic. They call in the coven’s head witch, who gives them some basic magic lessons, with spells, witch fire and how to protect and defend themselves, which will no doubt be required. Lia puts herself in danger by going to look for the woman from her vision by herself, with none of her other sister’s really seeming to feel any urgency in searching for her. Lucas is beside himself when she ends up badly injured, even though they haven’t had a real date yet, his feelings are clear and she is his forever!
Even their party for the siren Nedesea can’t go smoothly, when supernaturals are the guests and some unwelcome gate crashers turn up! Noah and Lucas were arranging security through their shifter pack and turn up just in time to sort out the problem. Good thing the sisters were taught a few useful spells, as they are certainly coming in handy. The head witch and even Phoebe don’t know what they are, they certainly have part witch, part fae, but one of them will show a very unusual addition to their abilities that brings more questions than answers. After the scare with Lia, the other sisters, Noah and Lucas head out together to see if they can find the poor woman Lia has seen in her visions. When they do uncover the killer, they are nothing like any of them have ever seen. The woman targeted was a witch and this killer may be linked to a number of other witch killings! The abilities of the twisted sisters are definitely providing some key differences to lives in the New Orleans area. They may still have a very unhappy Marie Laveau looking to get back at them, but they are stronger together and are growing a sizable number of allies from the magical world, to their side. Lots going on in this storyline, mainly with Lia and Dani, but others all coming into the story as needed. There are still a lot of family members and abilities to get to know, so more exciting reads to look out for. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Loved the second book in this series which is a spinoff from Brenda's Mystical Midlife in Maine series which is a spinoff of her Midlife Witchery series.

The sisters are slowly settling in to their new lives in the magical world. Though they bought the Willowberry plantation as a venue for their party planning business, having Phoebe unlock their magic has given them so much more. They now have a former ghoul who has had her soul restored, two sexy wolf shifters who first came to repair their roof and are now dating Dahlia and Danielle, a local witch coven whose leader has agreed to teach them what they need to know about their magic, and various magical talents. Dahlia, for instance, can see future events. Her foresight is activated by scent, or smell-o-vision as her sisters call it. She has such a vision as she and Danielle are walking down Canal Street, returning from an appointment for a party booking. She sees a man leaving a woman's corpse in front of a hotel. She didn't get a good look at the man and she doesn't recognize the woman. How are they supposed to find either of these people in a city the size of New Orleans?

There is, of course, plenty more drama in the story. From zombie attacks, to pixie mounds, to party planning for a reformed siren, the six sisters never get a break from the action. Plenty of loose ends to make you crave the next book. I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.

A little disappointed in the second book because it followed the way too used storyline of solving a murder and of course sex scenes. I had high hopes for this series but this book kind of crashed them. I am still holding out hope that the series will get better because book 1 was decent.

I appreciate the author gave us a glossary of the sisters although it would help if the author used either their nickname or their full name throughout the story, just pick one don't use them interchangeably. A couple proofreading errors but nothing too major. I am guessing the story will always be told from Dahlia and Danielle's point of view which I am a little bummed about because there's six sisters so we should get it from their points of view too.

There's alot of questions that are asked in the book and we never get the answers to them, they are always filed away for later, when will we get these answers? And when will we see more of Cami? I thought she would have more presence in the book.

I think if it were me, the party planning business could have enough shenanigans and mayhem instead of adding all the other irrelevant cases to the mix, so this story was just ok.

Settling In . . .

There is much going on in this story. The sisters are figuring out how to use their magic skills and where they belong in a magical world. Dahlia is able to see the future through visions. So when her talent kicks in, she sees herself and Danielle coming back from a party booking appointment. Witnessing a man leave the corpse of a woman in front of a hotel, she is startled but too far away to see the details clearly. She doesn’t know who the woman might be, nor does she recognize the man who dropped the body there. Their priorities must turn to hunting for the killer, but finding an unknown person with no real clues seems an impossible task. With lots of other distractions, will they somehow discover the person they are looking for? There is so much going on it’s difficult to keep up at times!

Like the story, hate the issues

I’ve read a couple of Brenda’s series and the same problems keep popping up:
- character nicknames after just meeting someone (rude).
- punctuation issues, mostly errant commas.
- I’m going to guess real life events that pop up suddenly and make no sense to the story. Like someone making national times in the 200m breaststroke. Which National times? Philips 66, Summer National, Winter Juniors? This includes mentioning Trials when there was nothing in there related to it Why is it in this story? It was such a weird thing to put in there. There was another random bit put in there that I had to go back and basically jump over because it made bo sense.
Again, I like the story of the sisters but be forewarned about the weird stuff in the middle and runaway commas.

The Twisted Sisters party planners have festive and frustrating times ahead.

A demon bartender and some wacky supe clients and guests are pretty much guaranteed to provide mayhem, drama, dangers and comic relief.

Always intriguing to read the connections between other characters we might be familiar with and those in the current book.

loce the steamy stuff, the midlife image struggles- faced with friends and sisters supports, and the often frustrating yet mega sexy supes they love and are frustrated by.

Once again, the Twisted Sisters are faced with more paranormal attacks. This time Dahlia has visions of a woman dying Finding out who and when puts her and her sisters in danger. Add in two hot shifters, one of which considers her their fated mate, a party for a siren, a whole list of new supernatural creatures some friendly and other very dangerous and new powers. Another enthralling addition to this series. Once again I am on the edge of my seat waiting for the next book in this series. Received a free copy and am voluntarily posting an honest review.

The sisters are back and party planning for a siren birthday party and oh man what a party it turns out to be!!! A vision hits Lia and pokes at her to help prevent it from happening. Some major bad juju, some scary close calls and party planning in full swing! The sisters have an eventful life now, its good to see things falling place for Luke and Noah. Kaitlyn is helping the sisters nurture their magic. An exciting story, so looking forward to more episodes!.

I enjoyed this book enough to purchase the first book in the series. There is plenty of action and the author has mad world building skills. It did take me a while to sort out all of the characters. I understand that this is part of a series and it should be made clear that it would be beneficial to read the first book. I still have no idea of Cammie's backstory or even just who the six twisted sisters are, as this book focuses on Lia and Dani.

I love the Twisted Sisters already!

This an awesome book and an amazing series. I am in love with the six sisters and the other characters already. Lia is just learning about her smell-o-vision when she is overwhelmed by one of a woman being left dead on Canal Street. She was given little else to go one but, feels compelled to prevent the woman from being murdered. That is her intent, no matter what the cost....

I highly recommend this book and series, really all of this inkslinger's PWF series are excellent. I can't wait until the next one. I will definitely be reading!

Omg, I love this series!!!

Trim has done it again, and her Twisted Sisters series is simply fantastic!!! I love that each sister needed different chapters, and it simply makes the stories more lovable.

I can't wait for book three, and I get the feeling we will soon get a return visit from Phoebe, the Pleiades witch for North America. This book was amazing, and I know that each of her stories will be as good, if not better, than the last!

This series is a very entertaining read with lots of characters being introduced and mysteries to solve all as the sisters are learning about their new powers and navigating two new romances with shifters. The relationships that develop along the way are wonderfully written and the adventures keep me reading long after I should be going to sleep!.

Really enjoying this series! The 6 twisted sisters are back. Lia sees a future vision of a woman murdered and left to find on Canal Street. Thought book one was good well wait till you read this!! Once again we find ourselves thrust into the magical world of the twisted sisters and their party planning business but of course nothing runs as it should! The sisters abilities are growing stronger as they learn to use them and learn to adapt to the paranormal community. It’s an exciting and very entertaining read and I cannot wait to see what the author does next.

Dahlia has a vision of a young woman being dumped in an alley on Canal Street and does everything she can to stop the crime before it can happen even though she does not know who the victim or the perpetrator is. This story is full of messed up action, includes romance and a bit of steam, and ends with a cliffhanger. Very highly recommended.

Interesting & different magic

The characters are relatable and situations these sisters face are not the standards repeated so often in this genre.
The sex scenes, while not at all gratuitous, are too graphic for me, so I skip over them and so far the stories are worth the inconvenience. I prefer a more closed door approach. If you enjoy more m/f ‘naughty’ narration, you will find that here.

I think there’s a place on Decatur that has it on tap.

It's always exciting to see my hometown written into a book!

The renovations on the plantation are coming along nicely. The first party at their venue is scheduled. They continue to learn about magic with their own powers awakening. Oh, and by all means, throw in a vision of murder and the role of detective! Can't wait to see what happens next!!!

Another enjoyable book in Twisted Sisters Midlife Maelstrom

I continue to enjoy the sisters' new magical life and the people and beings they meet and interact with. These are fairly quick reads and fun and don't really require a lot of thought. I like the main characters. The two books in the series that I've read are not great classics or literary masterpieces, so only 4 stars, although maybe 3.75 to 3.9 would be more correct.

The twisted Sisters

What a great book, it's one that you won't want to put down.
New Orleans is buzzing for the sisters, who have just found out they are witches.
The discretion of the plantation house and the ghost is great.
And the sexy wolf shifters, well, you need a fan or two. Lol
They all are in a race to save a young girl, from being brutally murdered.
That's only a bit of a peak into this book.

Another great read that had me hooked. The Twisted Sisters always seems too be in the thick of things. When Lia has a vision of a women being murdered she will do anything too prevent that from happening but at what cost. I absolutely love Lucas, Lia and Dani and Noah together. I can’t wait too read what will happen next.

This is the second book in the Twisted Sisters Party Planning series. They are slowly starting to understand their powers and are learning to use them. They are planning a party for a Siren, and it seems to be going well. If only Dahlia didn’t have the premonitions of a woman murdered and dumped on a city street.

I have grown to expect great writing from this author and I have yet to be denied it. This series is shaping up to be one of her best. The main and supporting characters are fun, interesting, and grew beloved quickly. The plot is easily followed and I am very much looking forward to the next book in this series. I highly recommend this book and the first one.
