The Kill Switch

Rate this book
What is the biggest threat to mankind? A pandemic? Global warming? Nuclear war? None of the above. Ray Luck knows the answer. Only Ray Luck can stop it. Or can he?

Based on truth, you’ll pray this story doesn’t ever come true!

What ‘1984’ was to the twentieth century, this book may be the
equivalent for today’s generation, and beyond.

When Ray Luck, leader of a covert offshore operations group is asked
to help MI5 and MI6 defend the UK from attack, he finds himself facing
a threat which some experts consider to be the greatest danger facing
humanity today. A threat that few people know about, but which some
world leaders fear above all others.

More dangerous than the threat of climate change or nuclear war.

It wasn’t meant to happen so soon. Perhaps in twenty years, but not now!
And no one is ready for it.

So, can Ray Luck stop it?

Or is the fate of humanity already sealed and beyond his control?

If you're looking for a thriller, you’ve come to the right place.

This book will ‘thrill you’. It will keep you up till the wee small hours of the night. And after reading it, you will tell your friends. You'll discuss it with others. And you'll do your own research.

You'll look up TWO WORDS on the internet to see if this book was based on truth or was made up.

You'll hope it is not real.

But you will be scared, worried, "thrilled" when you find out the truth.

If the phone rings. Don't answer it!

Ian C.P. Irvine

Ian Irvine was brought up in Scotland, and studied Physics for far too many years, before travelling the world working for high-technology companies. Ian has spent a career helping build the internet and delivering its benefits to users throughout the world,...as well as helping to bring up a family. Ian enjoys writing, painting and composing in his spare time. His particular joy is found in taking scientific fact and creating a thrilling story around it in such a way that readers learn science whilst enjoying the thrill of the ride. It is Ian's hope that everyone who reads an I.C.P.Irvine novel will come away learning something interesting that they would never otherwise have found an interest in. Never Science fiction. Always science fact. With a twist.

The first of Ian's novels is a Genetic Conspiracy Thriller which explores the world of Stem Cell Research and encourages us all to ask some very searching questions about the advances that science is making, and how much we, or others, should let it affect society. A contemporary adventure, "The Orlando File" takes the reader around the world and back, and creates a unique moral dilemma that the reader cannot help but get embroiled in: at the end, the reader must ask themself, what would they do in that situation?

His second novel "The Crown of Thorns" explores the power of genetics, explores the questions that the potential to clone humans will raise, and asks the ultimate question...what would happen if a scientist found a way to clone Jesus Christ?

Ian's third novel "London 2012 : What If?" departs from the world of genetics and explores an interesting possibility that Quantum Physics raises:the possibility for parallel worlds to exist alongside each other...and what would happen if a man who wondered what other types of lives he could be living had he made other choices, where unexpectedly to step from one world into another parallel world. "What If" is also an interesting voyage through human emotions, and many readers will find themselves asking themselves similar questions that the lead character does as they read the book. As with both "The Crown of Thorns" and "The Orlando File", at the end of the book the reader is left thinking...and different readers may take away different views on how the novels did, or should have ended... It is hoped that in this way, the novels will make themselves ideal subjects for reading clubs or book clubs.

Ian hopes that if you honour him by spending the time reading one his novels, that you will find it a positive experience, and enjoy it. He also invites you to email him and let him know if you did or did not enjoy the novel. And if you did, what were your favourite parts?

Happy Reading!

Irvine keeps me up at night

I’m a bit above average when it comes technology and was happy to process this A I thriller. Irvine shows an amazing knowledge of technology especially Artificial Intelligence and his ability to explain it in this breathtaking thriller, kept me up late at night. This cyber thriller has everything- engaging characters, a bit of romance, and the obvious give and take with the UK and US Governments.
I’m quite sure that we’re sure to see a follow up story, and I’ll be in line for it.
Thanks Ian

MY OPINION:

Lots of polite “sips” and “sipping.”

One “accepts” things and does not “grab” or “take” them.

Lesbian action.

A dumb, trite, stoopid, over done idea, lack of plot, bad writing, and scads of bllsht 😀

“CNN” is apparently the “news” source of choice.

A waste of my valuable time.

I quit, deleted the unread book at 47%, forever, and looked for something else to read.

An absolute must read

Scarily close to reality. Everyone should read this book.Although based on what could be quite complicated computer jargon for most, the author does an outstanding job of simplifying and explaining in a way that keeps the reader enthralled. Edge of the seat reading. Made me think of unplugging everything in the house and getting the pens and paper back out!

Wow!

An amazing read. I am left incredibly shaken by the scary notion of what could potentially happen with A.I.

We've allowed Alexa and Ciri into our homes to control many aspects of our lives and now I am actually scared it could be infiltrated and hijacked.

It's a great work of fiction but omg, how realistic, it could actually happen in the not too distant future 😱.

Thank you Ian

great book

this one kept me up some nights thinking about it this could really happen. Is there going to be another book. At the end Sebastian calls. Is he still out there? What will it do now?

Think twice before uninstalling a program!

Terrifying book. And definitely psychologically thrilling. But so scary because the threat is way too real. Not picking up phone and I will think twice prior to uninstalling a program. Loved the group ACT.

fascinating and intriguing

Hard to put down even to eat or sleep. In this day of fear of take-over by AI the story line casts a shadow of a possible future looming all too near! But do we have the resources to prepare for it?

Yawn . Would have been a great shorter novel but dragged on too much . Maybe “ computer geeks “ might have been glued to it but even though I struggled through to the end , I was left unfulfilled. I am a fan of the author but not this book.
