Return to the world of the Midnight Empire where darkness reigns and vampires rule. New York is my prison.
Once a sought-after assassin, a single error in judgment landed me in servitude to House August, the most powerful vampire family in North America. Now I use my special brand of magic as a member of their security team, fighting monsters in the city and keeping the royal family’s many enemies at bay.
When the queen summons me for an assignment and offers my freedom in return, I want to jump at the chance—until she tells me what the assignment is.
Like a valiant knight, I am to escort her son from the family’s stronghold in Florida back to New York, which would be difficult enough without my messy romantic history with the rogue prince.
I accept the job because my freedom means more than my wounded pride.
Darkness and monsters stand between us and our destination. Thankfully I’ve never been afraid of either one.
I soon discover there’s more at stake than the return of the prodigal son. Even if we survive our enemies, I’m not sure I’ll survive the journey with the vampire who broke my heart.

Well, this little beauty popped up on my Amazon suggestions......👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Well done Amazon.
Lets just get this out of the way. I am do not like Alaric (MC). He is a major playboy. Who seems to have zero interest in becoming king of the House of August. Loves women, booze, partying ....basically not a lot of character.
Up side is Britt, George, and Liam!
Britt is the Death Bringer. Kick ass, sarcastic, and fights for the underdog. Loved this FMC! She brings a lot to the table and raised my rating! George is her sidekick...who I am hoping with all hope ends up being a shifter. Cause Alaric is not MC material at this point. Secondary characters are relevant and pop up at all the right moments.
This is a spin-off from the tower series. I’m not as interested in the characters or invested in the story. It’s not badly written just not as engaging. I continue to be a fan of the world & will read book 2 just to be sure it’s not a dud. I did fall in love with George.
Endless Knight is the first book in the Midnight Empire: The Restoration series. It is a post-apocalyptic urban fantasy world where vampires now rule the world. A place where everyone else is food unless you have magical powers.
This book is a continuation from the original series, and I think following the same timeline, but I am not sure. I find myself trying to settle into the story with new characters.
Our FMC is a kick ar$e character and is always the first into the action. She finds herself facing off against unusual paranormal creatures trying to stop her from finding the objects that could kill them all if they got into the wrong hands.
It is full of action and adventure where the Knights fight the monsters in the world, causing chaos. I love it when stories are told in dual POV.
Endless Knight, Midnight Empire: The Restoration, is the first book in a new urban fantast trilogy set in the same world as Wild Knight.
The kick butt heroine, Britt, is fierce and formidable as she fights enemies in the streets of New York.
She is a servant to the most powerful vampire family in Northern America.
When Britt receives an offer from the queen she can't resist, she may regain her freedom. But also lose her life in doing so. She has a dangerous mission filled with monsters hiding in the shadows.
The world building in this book is SERIOUSLY NEXT LEVEL. The characters are dynamic, fierce and complex.
The action left me on the edge of my seat. There were surprises thrown in that let me with my jaw hanging open.
Perfectly paced with action and romance, this is the urban fantasy you must read, and you will see how FANTASTIC it is!
Can't wait for Book 2 in this trilogy to see what happens next!
this is an entertaining urban fantasy apocalyptic series
It is sometime into the future and 10 super volcanoes have erupted on earth. This is the second set of books in this world. The first set was based on characters in the United Kingdom in Europe. The story is based on characters living in the United States in North America. When the 10 super volcanoes irrupt it in speed so much ash into the atmosphere that the sunlight was blocked out it seem became evident that out of the super volcanoes also came many mythical monsters and creatures. Other creatures they were already on the earth but living in the shadows also came out. Vampires soon came out of the shadows and became the rulers of the earth as the night was continuous. Witches and wizards also came out of the shadows and without them earth would’ve died. With her magic they help plants grow food be raised and keep the human population alive. Intern the human population helps keep the vampire population alive. Without all of them everything on earth would eventually die. This is the story of one particular which that has a unique skill. Read on and follow the adventure and see if she is a part of what one day may return the monsters to the middle of the earth and evil back into the darkness. Very entertaining with lots of adventure in action. Check it out
This seemed a bit pointless. I felt like the story could have ended mich sooner. Luckily this didn't end w a cliffhanger exactly but we were left with a tease. I think you are fully just knowing the main characters as the book ends.
I *adore* this world and was so excited to read this! I loved this except for one really huge problem: the characterization of the antagonists in this book is really racist (having the head of the antagonists be named Roma is really anti-Romani and having Roma and her people be creatures that feed off the dying or newly dead while wearing feathers and face paint is really anti-Indigenous).
I let some things slide with indie authors as they have way fewer resources than their traditionally published counterparts (sometimes) have access to, but this was too far. The banter and characterization of everything and everyone else was amazing but this was really jarring. I really really hope this was a massive oversight and not Annabel Chase's prejudice leaking through.
I think many of us that adore her books would be happy to be sensitivity readers to prevent things like this happening and so that this wonderfully world she created is not tainted with racist stereotypes.
3.5 stars I saw the blurb of this book and I thought it was right up my street. Vampires and a second chance trope? Count me in. So I was a bit disappointed with how the romance/ frenemies to lovers plot was progressing. Or well. Not being there at all.
I like Britt. She seems strong and I want to see her explore the extent of her powers and come to terms with who she is. It’s Alaric that I have a problem with. (Well not problemproblem problem). I just don’t see it. What Britt saw in him all those years ago that made her fall deep and get her heart broken. I mean as a vampire prince I like him. But as Britts love interest? I just can’t see it.
So that’s the only contending point for me. The romance isn’t the sizzle I expected from a frenemies to lovers plot. Heck there’s hardly any frenemying at all. That’s why I’m giving the book a solid 3.5 with no rounding up. Truthfully, I would rather Britt found a second love interest be it vampire or witch, someone other than the soon to be King, someone who has a lot more chemistry with her. I don’t think that would happen though. I will however still read the second instalment when it comes out this July. While I can’t find it in me to love Alaric and Britt together, I’m rather invested in them as individual beings.
Blood witch Britt has a chequered past. Kicked out of home as a child for her magical ability, she became an assassin; but the wrong choice of job has made her an indentured servant to the ruling vampire house. For the price of freedom, Britt is more than willing to go and fetch the heir to the throne from Florida, and escort him back to New York, but it is a journey fraught with danger, and her relationship with the prince is complex to say the least…
This is an enjoyable tale set in the Midnight Empire world (the first series features London and is set in England), only this time we’re in the former USA with the vampire families of that part of the world. It’s a fast paced story, and a quick read, with plenty of action, adventure, and a hint of romance (though I have to admit I really didn’t like Alaric as much as I like Callan, he seems a little sleezy!). The star of this book was definitely George, Britt’s pet/friend/companion/backup- he’s a talented little thing. That being said, it’s an engrossing read, and a good choice for urban fantasy fans (though I do recommend reading “Midnight Empire: the Tower” series first.
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I completely change my mind on a series, so want to change my scoring.)
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
I had high hopes for this one after reading Midnight Empire: The Tower series, but these characters are nothing like those. While I loved London and Callan, Britt annoyed me and I cannot stand Alaric whatsoever.
The sexual innuendos and allusion to the past sexual exploits of the prince (with Britt as well as multiple others) was disgusting and off-putting.
The plot was boring and also stupid. Three-quarters of the way through the book, Britt brings Alaric to someone who can portal him anywhere. Why didn’t she just head there in the first place to get him portaled to New York? Also, this portal witch is supposedly extremely expensive, yet she just portals Britt all over the place for nothing. (Not without first making lots of sexual innuendos and suggestions, however.)
There was none of the camaraderie and good-feelings from the first series. This one is just not worth it
After the Great Eruption, all of the North American east coast is now ruled by the vampire House August who are headquartered in the devastated area of New York City.
Talia is a young witch in the Lancaster, New York conclave who yearns to know more, but due to pressure and danger from the vampires, her elders are very secretive. Years later, she becomes Britt, a death witch and indentured servant of the Director of Security for House August. Unexpectantly, she is given a top-secret mission by Queen Dionne to travel to their southern territories, find Prince Alaric and bring him home. The last thing she wants to do is see the Royal prick again.
Footnote Question: If Washington D.C. was such a deadly maze of monsters that everyone abandoned it, then how did our little group think they could defeat and retake it?
Fave scenes: George the dragon, the satchel contents, Pricilla’s house and picking out weapons.
Britt, a witch whose chosen servitude to a North American ruling vampire family over beheading is intrigued to retrieve her former lover, Alaric who must be brought home immediately for the good of the kingdom. And he was having such a good time on vacation! But along the way Alaric is forced to realize the Queen didn’t send for him on a whim but as a prelude to possible war!
To my taste, this foundation tale is reminiscent of so many other series (including The Tower subseries set in this world) I could not reconcile the identities of these characters or appreciate what I’m sure laid in pieces for a fun trilogy and not a mis-step. However, George’s adorability shone like a beacon. Rating: 3stars
I didn't realize that this was a spin off of an established world so maybe I picked the wrong book to start with?
I couldn't care about the characters and felt that the random side quests when there is a very real threat and mission, very off putting. Unlike something like Lord of the Rings that has a big overarching mission that has multiple side quests due to circumstances and things that are inevitable and happen to characters (the party being separated by external circumstances, a character death etc), these characters CHOSE to do random stuff because reasons.Even the romance was disinteresting to me.
I did however, enjoy the idea of the world and what happened to it and think that was a pretty cool idea. Ultimately, I probably won't read any more in the series.
Quite a good start to this series good characters an interesting storyline and a climatic ending so all good. Britt the heroine is a strong feisty female given a bad start in life by her witch counterparts driven out of her coven as a child because her magic was different forced into becoming an assassin to survive and ultimately becoming a slave to the ruling vampires. Finally winning her freedom to be threatened by a scheming group of magic workers. Her relationship with the future vampire king is dangerous but she is resisting her future is far from safe. A good start with lots of potential.
MI MAYOR CRITICA SERA CON ALARIC... ES DE LOS PROTAGONISTAS MASCULINOS (HASTA DONDE PARECE ES EL UNICO INTERES AMOROSO). Y LOS DEFECTOS SON MAYORES A CUALQUIER PEQUEÑA CUALIDAD QUE INTENTARON PONERLE AL PERSONAJE (FRANCAMENTE NO PAFREC QUE LE PUSIERAN ALGUNA). MIENTRAS QUE BRITT... ME GUSTO EN VARIOS ASPECTOS ESTRATEGICOS, PERO SENTIA QUE TENIA UN MONOLOGO DE ADOLESCENTE CON SUS SENTIMIENTOS CON EL PRINCIPE Y FRANCAMENTE DEJO MUCHO QUE DEAR QUE NO LO DEJARA A SU SUERTE EN MOMENTOS CLAVES QUE PUDO HACERLO. PRACTICAMENTE GRITABA: TE QUIERO ALARIC!! SOLO ESTOY ALGO DOLIDA POR LA TRETA QUE HICISTE.
What’s not to love about an epic journey across monster filled wasteland while unknown enemy is trying to kill you. It’s so well written, loved the suspense and twists. The sexual tension was hot, although constantly interrupted by attacks from all sides. The will they / won’t they element was perfect. The monsters and the fight scenes were so well described, the detail had me completely mesmerised - I could put the book down. Was surprised with the ending, so not sure what will happen next. Overall a fantastic read, can’t wait to read more.
This book felt pretty lackluster. The beginning started off promising, the FML was interesting and I liked her dynamic with the Prince and the plot was exciting but towards the middle it fell apart. The constant detours to the story made me lose interest and the side character we met all felt cliched. The angst between Britt and the prince was gone since it took a backseat to all the side quests and the ending fight was underwhelming. The plot twist near the end sounds promising for the next installments in the series but I'm not into the romance nor the characters to care tbh.
Cast out of her coven for having "dirty magic". Britt has earned the title of Britt the bloody, she has a dangerous type of magic. The world is ruled by vampires. After lava chutes erupted worldwide, life previously known ended. Now no trees or foliage grows without magic. Britt is indentured to a royal family for breaking a law. She has been ordered to retrieve the prince from Palm Beach to New York secretly upon the murder of his father. When she completes her mission, she will be freed from her servitude.
I like this author & I like the ease of her stories, but I was a bit disappointed by this book. I think it was a good setting the scene vibe, but little things annoyed me. Like she wouldn’t talk when in the enemy’s house because it was bugged and then like 1 hr later is ok with having a super deep talk in same room? And then I was really hoping she would use her powers against the pey but noooo george had to save her. And I understand why, so we can learn George is a phoenix but still. However it was a good setup for the next book.

There is a lot going on here! It's interesting to see what happened to some of the North American area during this world's apocalypse and the resulting new political intrigues. There's some serious tension with the love/hate relationship that Britt has going on. And I really enjoyed a lot of the side characters they encounter on their travels. The one aspect that was a bit of a letdown was the major antagonist. The pygmy dragon was delightful though!
Endless Knight is well written with great characters and an amazing start to this series. It is not a continuation of the Midnight Empire, so none of the previous characters in the “London Story” are here so far, the stories are taking place in the same place and simultaneously, they three will converge before the end of the Saga “from what you can gather of Olin Prophecy”. It starts out great, let see how the stories merge.
I like this book, the Heroine is likable and begins to grow in this book. I gave it a 4 star because I felt like this went really fast and we could have seen even more development and more explanation in some areas. I am sure a lot of the book has a purpose, but really the most important things happen towards the end. With that being said, I like this author and this story. I did like the first series in this tale more, but I will definitely keep reading.
I really enjoyed METower, so thought to this diversion a try.
Britt, aka Death Bringer, had hung up her assassin spurs to work for House August, the ruling house on the east coast. It was a rock- and-hard-place choice.
Now, she can reverse that consequence, if she succeeds in bringing the playboy heir back to NYC. Sure. No problem.
It’s just…they have a history Whether it becomes more, will have to be seen.
Loved to see the aftermath of The Great Explosion from another part of the world. Britt is a former assassin with special magic and sass. She wants to only look out for herself but that's steamrolled at every turn as she protects everyone. Can t wait to see what she does with the ending details.
Love the continuation, yet not quite of the Tower series! Can’t wait to see how the story unfolds and Britt finds her place in the world. Annabel wrote a strong woman who knows her mind, but maybe not all of her heart….yet. Looking forward to reading her discovery of it.
