From an early age, Stacey Wilk told tales as a way to escape. At six she wrote short stories in composition notebooks, at twelve she wrote a novel on a typewriter, in high school biology she wrote rock star romances in her binder instead of paying attention.

But it wasn’t until many years later, inspired by her children and a looming birthday, that she finally took her story-telling seriously. And published her first novel in 2013. Since then, she’s gone on to publish fourteen more so women everywhere could fall in love and find an escape of their own.

She isn’t done telling stories. Not by a long shot. If you want to read her emotional and honest books about family, romance, and second chances, visit her at www.staceywilk.com

Ember and Raf could be the textbook definition of “opposites attract”, but their experiences are a lot more similar than either one realizes. These two have ocean liners worth of emotional and family baggage weighing them down. It hurt my heart to watch them unpack all that pain and drama, but I loved seeing them learn and grow from the experience. Since I got the few lingering questions I still had from the previous book answered, I can’t wait to see where we find Ember and Raf in future books.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

I think this is one of my favorite stories from Stacey. Ember & Raf are so easy to fall in love with, both just wanting to do what’s right for the people they love. Of course, love is never easy, and there are obstacles in their paths, mostly those same very people they love.

As with the other books, you may find a character or three that you met before. Take a trip to Candlewood Falls!

Disclosure: I received an advance copy of the book and this is my honest review.

I received a free copy of this book via the author, and I'm willingly leaving an honest review.
I loved Rafael and Ember's heartwarming story...
Neither Rafael Alvarez nor Ember Wilde had a particular good example of a father to love and guide them through their childhood, so it's hardly surprising they fall out about their father's!
When Ember returns to Candlewood Falls, the first person she meets is Rafael at the train station, and he offers her a lift, which she regretfully declined..
Will this unlikely pair be able to make a go of their relationship?
Wonderful storyline with great characters and loved the HEA.

An emotional tale of family dynamics. Rafael Alvarez had a big heart and tried to protect his brothers, even from themselves. Ember Wilde returned to Candlewood Falls to help her mother. However, her parents kept turning her away. Together, Raf and Ember find a love that calms their souls. I loved reading this story. I received a copy, and I'm giving my honest review.

Family!

Defining Chances: Ember had enough of the city! She went hope to see if she could help with her mother. She was not expecting to a gorgeous man. Her father hadn't changed. She spent sometime with het Mom but it was hard and both her parents said they don't want her there. It was a great story!

Ember and Raf are not my favorite characters in this series. I felt as though Ember was not as well developed compared to others. I did enjoy the overall story and the ending was sweet.

Defining Chances, Stacey Wilk’s latest (… and terrific) addition to the Candlewood Falls / Hometown Series (book #3) is a must read!

If you’re into series books that can be read as a standalone, strong and well-developed characters, and family dynamics, you need to download Defining Chances today.

Rafael Alvarez is someone from Ember Wilde’s past … but always on the outside. He’s got a solid job and as head of his family, he’s almost got a firm grasp on his brothers … until he doesn’t and things go from good to bad instantly. His deadbeat dad is back in town looking for redemption and his little brother is self-destructing and trying to take down Raf with him.

Ember Wilde makes an instantaneous decision that has her leaving the city and returning home to take care of her mother … despite getting a strong arm from both of her parents, including her gruff and tough as nails father. She’s at a personal crossroads from a family and career perspective … and is struggling with trying to find her way.

I loved Raf and Ember as individuals and tighter. As they both fight their family issues and dynamics, they realize that together they are stronger than alone.

Defining Chances is an amazing book, well written with layers of emotion, passion, and soul-touching, tough-at-your-heartstrings scenes. Even if you’re not looking for your next read, you need to put Defining Chances at the top of your TBR list … or better yet, download today!

I generously received a copy from the author and am thrilled to share my perspectives here.

I'm new to this author and this was the 1st book I've read by her. I enjoyed the plot of the story as well as while it was a steamy romance it was written well without too much steamy detail.
Family is messy and this book gave glimpses into two different families and while their circumstances were different their lives weren't so much different .
I look forward to reading more of Stacey's books; especially more of the Candlewood Falls series.
Grab a copy today and get lost in the story of Ember and the budding feelings for Rah. I had a hard time putting the book down and when I did my mind wondered back to the story unfolding wondering what was to come of the families in the book.

Raf and Ember meet by chance later in life and the chances keep coming. They are meant for each other, but will love win out? So many things to deal with in their families and past history of their lives. Seems like one thing after another is testing their relationship. I really enjoyed reading about them and can’t wait to see them in the future in another Candlewood Falls adventure! I love this series of books!!

I enjoyed this read. There were very interesting characters to love and to dislike. Watching Ember and Raf were come together and overcome their insecurities was lovely to see.

The part that was frustrating for me was that although it could be a stand alone story I felt like there was a lot of context I was missing. References to past stories that weren't integral to the story but were referenced so much you felt a little clueless.

This was a great read. Even though it was the third book in the series, it was still a good standalone. It actually makes me want to go back and read others in the series. I’m so curious about Brad, Winter, and Lyra. Definitely recommend!

Defining Chances by Stacey Wilk is a good, and enjoyable small town romance read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. The story is the third book in the series, it was still a good standalone. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
