Cursed Magics

Rate this book
Magic touched Casey's life the same way it touched her mother’s. A premonition gone wrong lead to her mother's death. After, Casey and her father packed up their trinket shop and ran to protect Casey from the same fate. The path ended in Junaria, in the quiet outskirts of the village just in the edge of the palace.

Magic stole Charles's humanity, his father, and the kingdom that was rightfully his. All that remained was a silver swirl in a glass jar - and his need for revenge.

Magic couldn't forewarn Casey of the monster who would trade her father's life for hers. Magic couldn't change the soul of a man losing himself with every moment.

Magic could bring a beauty and a beast together and break two magic curses.

Lexi Ostrow has been in love with the written word since second grade when her librarian started a writing club. Born in sunny southern California she's spent time in various places across the country and can't wait to settle down somewhere in the French Quarter when she's able too.

Lexi has been a writer ever since the second grade in some form or another. Getting her degree in creative writing and her master's in journalism she couldn't wait to get a chance to put her fantasies down on paper. Her debut novel, Torn Between Two Worlds is something that was simmering in her mind since middle school and she's so grateful to put it out into the literary world. From paranormal romance to thriller there isn't a genre she doesn't love to spend her time reading or writing.

Reading and writing are her first loves but her passion for shopping, love for yummy food and her love for all her many pets. She hopes to one day help other readers fall in love with writing as she did.

Super quick Beauty and the Beast retelling that is under 100 pages.

This is a insta love type of romance as Lexi needs to fit romance and spice into a short amount of time. There isn’t much storyline and there is so much left out. This could have been a great 4⭐️ maybe even 5⭐️ if it was longer.

Casey has been given a gift, but in truth it is more of a curse. She has inherited her mother's ability to see potential futures but the person themselves always remains in charge of their own destiny (much as they would like the responsibility to lay elsewhere). A death, or rather a murder in the nearby woods claims her interest but that is until a beast comes to attack her father. Charles has been cursed and if honest he should have made better choices at the time. His own actions have led him to be what the world sees. FInally he has found the location of the family responsible for what happened to him and he is determined to bring an end to it all. That is until he meets Casey.
Very much a Beauty and the Beast retelling however I did wish it was longer. It is long enough but somehow you just feel that it could be more.

Okay so bought this on a whim and the fact it was $3!! Lol

I only had one problem with this book and it was the crazy amount of typos in it. I understand that shit happens but my ADDD and OCD were just not having it lol!!

Overall this book was good!!

I loved the twist the author put on this story but still kept it close to the original story. I loved that she put the snow scene not from the OG movie but from i believe it's movie 2 I can't remember the name. (It's with her in the red cloak) I loved to see the playful side of the beast.

Okay my disappointment I encountered was that they didn't fuck with his tail 😅😅 I'm a sucker for monster romance... so sue me ahah!

It was a short easy read. I can't wait to read more by this author I have heard wonderful things🖤

This was basically beauty is needed by beast for removal of a curse.
Casey has certain magic when she touches people... It is limited and only usually includes seeing the future or the past.
This follows quite closely the story we all know and love but with added heat.
I was sucked in by the fairytale feeling and the differences made this fresh.

Mix Beauty and the Beast and some self fulfilling prophecies, and the result is Lexi Ostrow’s Cursed Magics. I really enjoyed how many elements of the Beauty and the Beast tale were woven through the story and yet it was not entirely predictable. If you like fairytales or if you like monster romances, either way, this book is great!

I loved this book! It's always nice to read retellings of classic stories and see how they are different from the original. This is a Beauty and the Beast retelling. It caught my attention from the start and I couldn't put it down. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved it and wish it were longer, though I thoroughly enjoyed it just as it was. 5 stars.

This was a super quick retelling of beauty and the beast. Because it was only 90 pages a lot had to happen in very little time and it just felt rushed me. I understand with it a novella that things move quickly but there was so much potential with this story that I feel like we missed out on because it was so short.

I absolutely loved this retelling and could not put it down. You could feel like you were there and felt like you were watching Beauty and the Beast all over again. I loved how it was different than the normal Beauty but similar enough that you could tell which story it was.

A nice, light and cute re-telling with a strong heroine and a beast who is more than he seems, and overall enjoyable read. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout in exchange for an honest review.

Charmingly romantic retelling if the classic Beauty and the Beast story. Loved it so so so much that I am going back to it more often than reading new books. EXCELLENT job.

I really liked the book but I would have liked a little more character development. There were times that I felt like I was missing a piece of the story because I didn’t feel like the background was explained enough. I did like her take on the beast though!

Short but cute retelling

This was a short story - a retelling of Beauty & the Beast. Casey was headstrong, the Beast surly and all in all just a cute story.

I absolutely love this twist on Beauty and the Beast. I love that it is it’s own story but still familiar in a way. The characters are wonderful as is the world building.

This story was not well written, felt very disjointed, and had way too many repetitive thoughts in the main character's heads.
