Vows We Make

Rate this book
A vow is a solemn promise to do something. A vow can be binding or nonbinding. Long term or short term. Beneficial or nonbeneficial. This is something Xavier knows all too well. Xavier is on the right path in life. He is steadily on his way to becoming partner at the architectural firm he works for. He’s engaged to Sophia and looking forward to their married life together with their two, young children. Then, out of nowhere, life sucker punches him, leaving him dazed and confused. He makes many vows to survive the aftermath the cards of life have dealt him – vows he may or may not be able to keep. Vows that not only affect his life, but also his family’s. Vows he may regret.

Such a beautiful story

This page turner will be one I remember. The characters were well-written, and I felt as if I were in the room with them. I enjoyed that the story was told over many years, it helped me see how their lives had transformed. The ending was nice, as I wasn't sure it would turn out as it did.

Lately I’ve been reading new authors I haven’t read before I love Urban Christian books with that being said I really enjoyed this novel I must say I was getting Bible study lessons throughout this book ! This couple really went through a lot of trials and tribulations however by having strong faith it brought them through it all ! It all started when Xavier was burning the midnight oil at work he was working on a project he’s an Architect by the way he was on the phone with his fiancee Sophia talking about bedtime routines with the kids after that phone call he didn’t know that his life was about to change forever ! Xavier seen a white couple Caroline and Bradford having a physical altercation about Bradford’s sexual encounters with other women and being the good person that he is Xavier tried to save Caroline from the physical altercation with Bradford he was fighting with Bradford then the police came and Carolina flipped the script on Xavier which landed him in prison for 10 years and that’s a lifetime unfortunately there wasn’t any security cameras in the parking lot to prove Xavier’s innocence. Xavier was filled with anger and Sophia was devastated by the situation ! He didn’t want any visitation from the family he didn’t want his kids seeing him in that environment throughout the ten years Sophia and Xavier’s faith was tested I don’t want to give away the whole story you just have to read it ! And please a review until next time

Truly Beauty from ashes

This story had me so intrigued that I could not put it down until I finished it Xavier and Sophia were put in a situation that many people would not have been able to survive.
God certainly made them able to endure everything that happened as well as being able to keep the vows that they made to one another as well as the other people that entered their lives. I feel that because of their dedication and love for God he blessed the to finally live their dream.

I won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil this wonderful read for others I simply say if you read this book you will not be disappointed ❤️

Absolute love! God is awesome!

I swear my heart broke at the start of the book! I almost didn't finish it because I expected a really sad ending. I mean I even made my self come to terms with loss love. Any way I really appreciated the heavy inclusion of prayer and bible passages throughout the book. Great job by the author.

I truly appreciate you Khara Campbell if I could you more than 5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ I would. This is the most inspirational book I have read in a long time. I could not put this book down. I truly loved this book. I will be following you.

Whew

My heart is full. I say that after reading most of KC's books. She has the gift of making real life situations examples of how to live for and trust God. This story started off making me angry almost to tears but ended with a reminder of God's faithfulness.
KC keeps it real and uses scriptures to support the story. I love the easy going writing style and believable drama that is relatable even to Christians. Don't shy away from this book simply because it's a Christian read; it's a warm story that offers real encouragement.

Truly predestined!

I have been amused, delighted, attended bible study and engrossed in this sensational story. This author has captivated me with her creativity since reading, "Lady of the Church". With each book that I read, I am excited and pleased.

She elicits such a range of feelings with this story from sadness to total elation. If you have not read this book, stop what you are doing and get your read on, you will not regret it. I will not ruin the story, you will not be disappointed!

AMAZING!

Xavier is one hellva man. Through all he been through he didn’t let his situation deter him from his faith. You can’t not love this guy! Sophia was blessed to have two loves in her life however her and Xavier are definitely meant to be together which I’m so happy about. Zena was something else. To first pressure Xavier to marry her, then turn around and broke her vows through their entire marriage. What a great story! I truly enjoyed it!

Such a beautiful read

I love a good Christian romance and this was so freaking amazing! What a blessing to have God minister to you through the pages of a fictional story. I loved it from beginning to end and I was so happy that Sophia and Xavier got their happy ending... This book is a true testimony that there will be trials and tribulations but no weapon formed will prosper and God is working behind the scenes. This was my first read from this author but not my last I'm excited for more to come

Vows we Made

Wow what a fantastic read lots of drama, tears, prayers then comes joy. Xavier had a very challenging life. He was hard working kind man of God, taking care of his fiance and 2 kids. One evening after working late he went in the parking lots to get his car and came upon a man beating his wife, when he was choking her he went to assist her the man start beating on him . The police arrive ask whats wrong the man and woman collaborated together and said Xavier was trying to Rob them .He was arrested got 10 years in jail. 4 yrs later the man was murdered and 9 yrs later the woman became sick with cancer. She made a confession on tape along with 10 million dollars saying she is sorry she never talk the truth. Xavier got out and married this penal girl Zena who cheated from day one , they got divorce and his fiance who got married while he was in jail husband got shot. So eventually Xavier got back the love of his life.. Such a lovely Christian Romance .

Beauty for ashes

This was a great story of God faithfulness. I enjoyed the characters and I almost put it down at the beginning because I didn’t want to read anything sad with so much going on in the world. I am so glad I stayed the course because it was worth the Journey to read with positive male characters.

Looking forward to reading more.

So Good...

I am never disappointed when I read a Khara Campbell book. Marriage is truly a vow for; better or worse, for richer or poorer and in sickness and health. God is sho'nuff good! And His goodness was demonstrated in the characters, Xavier and Sophia.

Vows We Make

I loved the book and how everything worked out for the best. Sad Xavier had to spend10 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, but things like this actually happens in real life. Loved the ending, where he and Sophia was able to get back together. Amazing, I read the book in less than a day, kept my interest. Will read more books by Khara Campell. Would definitely recommend this book.

"Vows We Make" by Khara Campbell

My Assessment:

I enjoyed how this author gave us a good story followed up with scriptures and prayer that went along so well with the story. The story wasn't always sweet, but by the end of the story, all went well as the story came together. The characters...Xavier, Sophia, and Zena presented the reader with a well-told story. Keep your attention at the beginning of the read as you will be so in tune with everything. It is shameful how many the criminal justice system has treated African Americans. The ending was quite something in how it ended, which you will have to pick up "Vows We Make" to see how well this author brings it all out so well to the reader.

Uplifting Love Story

This book blessed my soul! I laughed and cried with tears streaming down my face. I read it in a few hours and truly enjoyed the plot, characters, pace, and Scriptures included. My only issue was the typo for Isaiah 40:31 (written as Isaiah 40:3) so the editing needs to be tweaked for reference purposes. I took a chance on this author and will definitely try her other works. I'm pleased and recommend!

God gives beautiful ashes

This was a great read. I finished it very quickly because I didn't want to put it down. The scriptures and real-life issues made it easy to visualize my reading. We all live with what-ifs, but the message is clear it's never our timing but God's.

Ms. Campbell does it again. I just love her books. I wish sometimes that the happy endings came earlier in the book so we have time to just enjoy them being happy and together.

Not for me!

This book just did not do it for me. I would not have finished it but I wanted to know what happened. It just seemed like a bunch of incomplete thoughts with a happy ending.

Refreshing…

It was a cool read. Honestly a lot of Bible verses and etc. not really my cup of tea being that I don’t believe in Christianity. Overall a nice story though and I love how it came full circle. I did not see the plot twist coming either.
