[Beoryeojin Na-eui Choeaereul Wihayeo]

Rate this book

34 Chapter + 2 Epilogues

I didn't bother reading the specials.

So what can I say about this novel...Hestia was a bit of a detached villain? Yeah Diana was annoying and what I would describe as a naive idealist who had strong moral convictions that could blind her to her surroundings--but what was her major crime that Hestia had to mercilessly attack every part of her life and systematically destroy it?

Well apparently she had a relationship with two different men who were themselves friends but ultimately chose one of them and got married. Not only that but she morally objected to the 2nd male lead murdering two people and cut him off. (Yeah they were shitty people and the OG FL benefited from their deaths) But I don't know...yeah life is grey and sometimes murder can be justified--but objecting to murder doesn't make you a piece of shit nor does understanding why it may happen.

And the 2nd ML is so distraught by not getting the girl and receiving her admonishment for killing people that he tries to kill himself. This is the basis of the book, and because Hestia is so head over heels for the Caelus (from reading about him in a novel) she will then make it her life's mission to destroy Diana.

I don't know. I just felt strange reading this--I did get some of Hestia's moves in the beginning and why she want's Diana to apologize and realize that she at least benefited from the murders and that her self righteousness was not going to make her a good crown princess---but sometimes the actions and justifications were too much.

I didn't like Diana either...but damn.

Not a simple to review story, as I’m still in a complicated mood about this one. But it’s a good book, in its own way. I enjoyed reading it, even though the translation of Fated translation was awful in the second half of the book. It was not very good and complicated in the first half too, but later it was a disaster or just some AI short explaining the story without an actual translation.
But! I finished it, and at least this should show that this story is not bad.

I like the setting, how is started and characters. They are not too plastic, with is likeable. Characters here are not good or evil, they are grey, just like in the real life. This is a nice point, in this revenge seeking novel.

MC decided to get revenge. For a lot in this novel she didn’t feel it to be real, so she was quite detached. This was resolved in the end, as an additional conflict. There were moment where she was not consistent, but it can be understood.
Please be aware that mental state of characters not always stable or pleasing, and there is no healing in one day. It’s a log journey our main couple went.

Though simple and revenge oriented, this story definitely has its charm. I was fascinated by it. There is a lot to think about after. Though, not without some cons. For example when the ML, who was very keen on things, let some of MC revelation just slip. I’m unsatisfied as I don’t get it, is this a plot hole or why did he never even though of it? It would be fine is ML just let it be, but did he? Really, more like a plot hole to me. This is one of my main pains in this novel, after the translation quality.

I like how the characters had development though the story, not only the main couple but others too. And not all situations were resolved, just like in real life. But they could stand and live it thought.

In the end, I recommend to read this book. Just me aware it can be emotional and a bit depressing at times. As the characters living some difficult situations and finding they path in life.

review written of season 1 (ep 1-55):

this is so disappointing, i had such high hopes for this series 😕 the plotline was predictable, the characters were shallow, like i can’t believe i’m saying this, but everything just flowed way too smoothly for fl 😭

and it’s not even bc hestia was extraordinarily smart, or whatever she hyped herself up to be, everyone else is just an idiot 😃 for example, that tea party the crown princess held? hestia attacked her relentlessly, with no subtlety or tact whatsoever, and you want me to believe no one saw right through her comments? be so fr w me rn. it’s one thing to have a fl that regressed/transmigrated and all of a sudden is a brilliant, ingenious mastermind, but it’s another to have an fl who THINKS she’s oh so brilliant, bc you end up just hearing her talk abt how smart she is, instead of seeing it.

also, am i the only one who sensed a slight misogynistic undertone to this? i’m not saying diana is innocent in the events that progressed before the main story, but how come she’s the only one getting absolutely brutalised by hestia’s revenge plot, whilst the crown prince gets off scot-free (he even gets prophecies delivered by hestia?) like, the crown prince literally hogged diana’s divine powers for the king, and then ditches her the moment something wrong occurs, why are we not ALSO shitting on him? and i just hate, hate, HATE the label “gold digger” bc why is it so wrong to want financial security??? why are you acting like the crown prince doesn’t gain anything in return from marrying her???

again, not defending diana’s actions, im just saying, it’s very 🤨 that ppl focus all their hate towards her, when in reality, the crown prince has a LOT more power to create change than she does - this just feels very rashta/sovieshu all over again.

um, uh, soooo… where to start?

well, being such a MASSIVE fan of the manhwa (which i’ve read TWICE, by the way), i, on a whim, decided to read the novel as soon as i saw someone mention that it is, indeed, a R19+ book. honestly, it was purely out of curiosity at first; i wanted to see how the characters were depicted in the original work… and i was DYING to know what their sex would be like. knowing how hestia and cael ‘appear’ in the comic, i figured it’d be sweet and gentle and caring and emotionally intimate and super wholesome (‘cause cael’s such a precious boii with our main gal there)… but i was pleasantly surprised to find that our main man, caelus, was, in fact, a beast in the sheets. a DOMINANT fucking beast, too. that man had his way with her for suuuure, omfg. i’d never leave my bedroom if my first night was like that. fucking CHRIST, man… i haven’t felt this horny in ages—it ain’t right.

still, i am NOT complaining. i was imaging comic-caelus the entire time i was reading the book, and i was positively DRIPPING down there as soon as the action started, lololol. it was just so unexpected. so, so unexpected... (incredibly fucking hot, though.) their high level of sexual compatibility kinda took me by surprise, too, but i absolutely loved seeing how ‘lusty’ the whole thing felt—and from BOTH parties. they were going at it like rabbits, fuuuck. having the whole thing play out in my mind like a movie (because of how familiar i am with their physical appearances), i was able to deep-dive into some reaaaal spicy detail, too. fucking HELL, man. i’d pay good money to see my ethereal, fragile, elegant-lookin’ manhwa-cael absolutely INDULGE inside our dramatic, anxious, sweet, girl-bossy manhwa hestia any day of the week! seriously, that’s a sight sight there. fuuuuck meeeee. might just go back and reread it (again) ‘cause i was genuinely taken aback by the visuals i got; the visuals i’m STILL getting. it’s a whole lot better than 99% of the pornos i’ve ever watched, that’s for sure.

P.S. me being really into D/S and such, sex scene #3 in particular had me nearly combusting from the roughness. it was so unlike the cael i’m familiar with, and i was pretty much having the time of my life. novel hestia’s one lucky woman!

i mean, the actual writing itself wasn’t at all ‘spectacular’ or anything—hence the 3/5 star rating… but i already knew these characters beforehand. i’m emotionally invested. i’ve seen—and lived through—their interactions in the manhwa (which is WAY better than the novel, by the way), and i’ve been borderline obsessed with this couple since its initial release roughly a year ago. i’ve remained completely up-to-date with the all the chapters since day one; diligently reading and immersing myself in the story every single week for said year, so i believe it’s safe to say that i’m a MASSIVE fan of the artist who drew that masterpiece!!!

the art is just… exquisite. ethereal. emotional. expressive. extremely different from the novel in that sense! to me, their relationship always felt so precious and sweet and respectful in the manhwa—despite their rocky, not-so-ideal start… but not as much so in the novel. hmmm, how should i say this… THIS particular relationship felt more… shallow. one-sided. inadequate…? hmmm, i don’t know. maybe it was the bad translation i read, but that was just my experience with it. or maybe my standards were simply impossibly high from the get-go, lol.

anyway, seems like i got a little off topic there. to be honest, i truly didn’t know what to expect when it came down to the smutty scenes. caelus has always been such a fragile character to me (comic version, not the book version)—even though he’s incredibly intelligent, poised, somewhat indifferent and such, i never ever perceived him as needlessly rude or anything like that. book version gave of real different vibes… more ‘chilly’ vibes. and he felt a whole lot more dismissive towards hestia, too. maybe he wasn’t, and i’m just biased… but my imagine of him really doesn’t fit with the atmosphere or dynamics of this one. and hestia… well, uh, she’s hestia, haha. i really don’t know how to describe the version of her i know and love. sharp. hardworking. original. incredibly beautiful. loyal to a fault. harmlessly obsessive. seriously freakin’ HILARIOUS, lol! she’s a queen alright. loooove her. i adore and worship them both. #noregrets

by now, it’s been a couple of hours since i finished reading it (just woke up after falling asleep writing this, actually) and my nether region’s having another fit just ‘cause i’m here, writing THIS right now. i’m not even kidding, send help.🥹

on another note: seriously, though—cael could fuck me into oblivion ANY. FUCKING. DAY of the week, bro. i repeat, once again: literally any fucking day. i genuinely didn’t expect him to be such a passionate, dirty lover. at least not in THAT sense... i truly believed he’d be more cautious with her and not so ‘laid-back’ about sex. or, well… rough. and kinkyyyy! absolutely did NOT see that one coming—therefore, i was a freakin’ mess after their first intimate scene together. haha, it really felt so out of character to me. nonetheless, i enjoyed the experience! it kinda made me see his character in a new light. so, with that being said: i’ll carry this insight with me as i enjoy the remainder of the graphic novel once it returns in a couple of months with season 2. <33

the smut was definitely my favorite part of the book, though… naturally, hehe. i wonder if they’ll include those scenes in the manhwa, too…? man, i’d die a happy woman! sexually, the big daddy energy levels are pretty high with this one. (they’re soaring the freakin’ SKIES.) still, given the overall ‘atmosphere’ of the comic, i somewhat doubt we’ll be blessed with visuals of their crude, passionate union—especially after experiencing firsthand the very different vibes they give off respectively. but hey, you never know!!! i might just be positively surprised.

for the umpteenth time—i’d 100% love to see manhwa-caelus wholly RAVISH manhwa-hestia the way he did in the novel. the mere notion of it gets me all twitchy and shieeeet. the concept’s still so freakin’ new and wild to me, but ohhh, my… just them steamy visuals themselves are making me CRAAAAVE a decent yaoi right now. (lmfao.) i doubt i’d be able to find a steamy josei to match this energy i’m feeling right now. but hey, at least i know what i’ll be doing after this! lololol.

P.S.S. i realize that this review’s probably pretty messy and scattered and super duper TMI right now (?), but at least i got to say everything i wanted to say. i’m done! for now, at least. ;) might return with an edit or two after year or so once the manhwa’s been completed. ahhh, i can’t wait!!! i miss my babies so much. time to reread season 1, perhaps? hehehehe.

Season 1 done. For the very first time got a crush on silvery hair ML. Isekai but story and plot described nicely with twists. Character development is too good. And the art work is fantastic.
Specially I like the FL's expressions and emotions very much. I mean why not she is representing and living the whole fangirl's inner desires afterall.

Now a long wait for season 2.

Xd

was reading the manhwa, cael has such a pretty design which is why i initially hopped on, but i got so bored as it went on. hestia is still very much in 'i cannot talk to you as a regular person, i erupt into a hysterical blushing fit, YOU'RE MY BIAS TEEHEE' and that has worn thin as a roadblock to their developing romance for me. also spoilers say that the OG story male lead gets redeemed and a divorce, but diana ends up being a pathetic villain and that's so boring. was relatively early on my ventures into isekais where the lead reincarnates as a side character and deems herself the 'villainess'. i'm sure there are better out there.

but the art is nice. ALMOST, ALMOST made me ignore the costuming which is both super modern and not great.

contains spoiler!!!

I love strong female leads so I am giving this 3 stars. however, hestia, the way she was written was somehow irrational. I get it. she loves him so much and would do anything to keep him alive. but I find her resentment towards diana too much and nonsensical. even kael doesn't care about it anymore and just wanted to move forward. I don't get it.

the writing is average. the plot, however, is what made push through the end of the story. i just hope the author delve deeper into the mystery of the story. still, I enjoyed this.

A fangirl transmigrates into a novel she has read multiple times as commoner Hestia who has not involvement in the plot. She spends her money to buy a title so she can observe the main characters from afar. A year passes and Diana marries the Crown Prince Helios. Only the conclusion of the book events does not return her home and she quickly discovers that events after the end of the ro-fan were awful. Her favorite character, the second male lead Caelus, kills himself after being rejected by the saintess, the main couple live unhappily, the emperor dies, and war threatens the empire. Hestia struggles for a year before she curses the author/god and collapses from poor health. This resets her to the end of the novel and she rushes off to make changes. Hestia saves her bias, becoming his wife on paper and promising to make the main couple realize their actions and apologize. She pretends to have prophetic visions of the future, re-establishes the Marquis’s honor, and manipulates high society in the name of getting Caelus a happy ending.

Honestly, I avoided this Korean work for a time because there was some hostility about how it handled suicidality in reviews. And it is a plot device more than a mental health issue as presented. However, overall, this revenge themed isekai adventure doesn’t take 2,000 chapters to tell its story. The narrative requires the characters to be rather shallow to play off one another. One is a naïve idealist who refuses to compromise, one is an opportunist whose title blocks serious repercussions for his actions, and another is detached and oblivious for most of the runtime. They don’t feel real but this intentionally saves time, better represents cliché archetypes, and add excitement to events that would not come from calm/rational players. It doesn’t resolve all conflicts or moral quandaries. The romance is rather weak overall, tinged with toxic behavior patterns. *Spoiler Alert* Kael saves Diana when she never actually regrets her behavior undermining Hestia’s work… but that moment evolves into a discussion on reader’s emotions and projections onto a story which remains worthwhile even if you are unhappy with the specific choices. It’s not particularly earth-shattering for the genre but these moments of reflection or little details do help keep my opinion of it favorable.

The story dealt with interesting concepts with surprising ease. Despite lacking various important things, I still decided to rate it a 4/5 because, for me at least, it was pretty enjoyable and the characters were decently developed.

In Korean fantasy isekai, a running question is often related to the concept and reason behind the transmigration of the main character. While in most cases this takes a backstage and the path of politics that the MC chooses to indulge in takes centre stage, it was not quite the case with this one. Most of this book, undoubtedly, involved Hestia (main character) enjoying transmigration "benefits" specific to this story and changing the plot of the after-ending story according to her desires. However, it was her internal monologue that was most interesting.

The monologue through which she expressed her imminent confusion and identity crises as a transmigrator. It was the winning point in this story for me. Apart from that, what her relationship with her bias, Kael, eventually developed into; the healthy and hot (and unchaotic) mess it became was worth reading. Honestly, it was so wholesome that I love it beyond words <3...

This book was pretty short consisting of (long but) only 36 chapters. Probably that's why it lacked quite a few things. Important ones.

I just finished the novel version after reading most of the story through the manhwa (80%), and honestly… I have a lot of feelings. If I had to sum it up, I’d say the novel was fine? entertaining, occasionally moving but nowhere near as gripping or emotionally layered as the manhwa. The connection definitely carried me through the end but when I step back and look at the novel for what it was, without the help of the art or pacing of the manhwa… it didn’t quite hold up.

The writing itself wasn’t anything spectacular. Not terrible, but it didn’t give me the depth or weight I was hoping for. Especially in the way the relationships were portrayed— there was something kind of hollow about them here. I loved Hess and Kael in the manhwa because they felt real and tender, like a bond built slowly through pain and mutual respect but in the novel, it just felt lopsided.

It’s frustrating watching a character like Hess, who has done so much and sacrificed more than anyone else, be told to just “let it go” and move on. As if what she endured was something that could be brushed off. She took on systems of power, demanded justice and stayed standing when no one else dared to.

Kael was… fine. At best. I get that his trauma explains some of his distance, but it doesn’t excuse the lack of effort. There were so many moments that called for real vulnerability or communication and he just stood there. Sometimes, I can’t help but think that Hess deserved so much more than someone who only half-met her at the finish line.

The ending, too, felt weirdly abrupt. Not terrible—it kind of worked thematically, in that “life goes on” sort of way—but it also felt like we were just getting to something and then the story decided to pack up and leave. There wasn’t enough closure, not for Hess, not for Diana, and not even for the broader world they were trying to change. I would’ve loved to see more about Diana’s own reckoning or growth, if it even happened.

I’m still glad I finished it. I cared too much not to. And despite everything, I do love the core of this story: someone clawing her way through hell to give herself and someone else a chance at a new life. That part stuck. But if I’m being real, the novel didn’t deliver the emotional depth or payoff I was hoping for.

No matter what anyone says, I will always be on Hess’s side.

Review is for the manhwa

Latest chapter read: 55 (also is the end of season 1)

I thought I have exhausted all the good isekai manhwas out there but this one proved me wrong!
I stayed up until 4am (which is a rare feat for me nowadays) because I just can't put it down!

Normally, it is the villainess who gets isekai-ed but in this, it is actually a never-even a side character that does and she's in to save the second ML! I think the heart of this manhwa is Hestia, I just so love her even if she's so cunning. I think I have a thing for fangirls that get isekai-ed (IASTP).

Though truth be told, I think Diana will not be half as bad if not for Hestia's machineries :D But then that is what makes the story interesting.

Another thing, I think look wise, I like Helios more (but Cael in his silver hair-purple eyes comes in close second), the black and amber combination is my kryptonite. I'd also like to point out, and I think some reviewers here also shares the same sentiment that Hel and Hes have chemistry. At this point in the manhwa, Cael isn't doing a lot just yet. It is really mainly Hestia with some Cael along the way. This may have to be the slowest burn ever. Though I have to admit, Cael being indifferent to her from the first half and him pining for Diana contributed to my interest in this manhwa, I'm all for the angst.

Before writing this review, I was all set to read the novel for the continuation but I think I will just wait for the manhwa to finish (even if it takes two years).

(read this a while ago before the manhwa was licensed. go read it on Webtoon!!)

cael and hestia hurt and healed me in the best way possible. power couple frfr.

hestia's dissonance and her complete disconnect with the world around her were my absolute favourite aspects of the story! clenches my fists!

it was so refreshing that cael's history with diana and helios weren't the real hurdle for cael and hestia to progress their own relationship - no romantic misunderstandings or forced mishaps. it was hestia's inability to integrate emotionally and allow herself to live life as a person and not a character.

+ the story's emphasis on hestia and cael's relationship being so strong and stable because it's built upon more than just feelings, as a sharp contrast to helios/diana and cael/diana.
+ from another perspective, i could very reasonably see hestia as an antagonist. love that for her
+ i know a lot of people think helios should have suffered more, i feel like he really DID go thru it and came out way better

- wanted to see diana's ending too. i wanted to see if she allowed herself to change. that "growing pains" line hit me fr

i love cael and hestia so much ;(

look okay...i absolutely loved fl (Hestia) but come on...ml (Caelus) needs to get a GRIPPPPP. you have to realize at what point do you have to distance yourself from your ex lover (ew i hate that term sorry) so that it doesn't affect your current partner!!!!! he obviously did that by the end but it was nearly too late because Hestia was about to END IT ALL?!?!

(also yes i do know that Hestia wanting to literally jump to death was not entirely Caelus' fault and it was also due to Hestia wanting to go back to her own world, but what he did absolutely affected her in some way?)

Anyways in all: I loved this novel sm, it was sweet, vengeful, and overall a really good way to look at life? it made me question myself a lot like: "am i living like i don't belong here?" "should i have more of a purpose?" THAT TYPE OF STUFF! i always love treating myself to a strong female lead who knows what she wants (most of the time at least)!

If you want to start reading the novel from the end of manhwa S1, read from chapter 18.
Everything is exceptional here, except for the abysmal lack of chemistry between the FL and ML lmao. The 2nd ML steals the spotlight when it comes to having any semblance of chemistry with the FL. Although, I have to give it to the ML for being the most pitiful ML ever, but oh well, at least the explicit scenes made up for the much-needed relationship development. Or does it?! -_-"
Be that as it may, the plot thickened SO well, and the character of 2nd ML was astoundingly redeemed by the end. I love how everything turned out too. It's realistic - I feel happy for some, bad for some, hopeful for some.
All in all, this novel is a well-written intense revenge story (not so much on the romance part). Definitely worth reading.

To be honest romance was the last thing that interested me in this book. Hestia was well-written as MC, she has many flaws, but her drivel is insane!

Kael was so meh… he is like the most uninteresting ML ever. I don’t blame Diana for not choosing him, his only good quality is his beautiful appearance. Honestly Helios (even thou i hate him) and Hestia had much more chemistry and understanding?

But the plot, scheming and emotions were well done. The moral that there are no villains in this story, all people are flawed and the only thing you can do is to sincerely reflect on your mistakes and move on. The ending is a bit abrupt, but felt realistic. Like in real life there are no winners at some point, your life is going on even after the “interesting” part ends, and what really matters is how you continue your story

s2 finale~ THE DYNAMIC IS THAT THE WIFE IS THE GUARD DOG 🙂‍↕️ the vengeance plot is pretty good, though im upset that it seems the second lead is going to be forgiven? somehow? SIGH

hestia's refusal to listen to caellus' insistence that she live for someone else is probably a plot point but its an irritating plot point with no end in sight. s3 is probably the end (author even said they planned to finish up in s2) but no way that part of herself can be easily solved in a few chapters especially since it seems she still believes this doesnt involve her and that this is all fiction at ch 95... she just gets more mentally ill with each passing chapter... WHEN CAEL SAYS HE DOESNT GAF ANYMORE CAN WE PLEASE LISTEN TO THE MAN

i did enjoy it though. i enjoyed caellus' boobs in my face every chapter

Me gusto mucho.

TW: Su*c*de Attempt

I’ve read so many isekai/reincarnation novels and this was definitely a fun change. I love the depth and drama of the shunned side character having to get over the female lead. Having to see his struggles and hidden insecurities all while getting over your first love was different for me and I love the fan girling aid from the reader who was flung into the story. The fact she wants to make the male and female lead regret how they hurt him was so good. We love morally grey characters. Also he is absolutely perfect and we must protect.

I'm a sucker for isekai/reincarnation stories that acknowledge the problems a person would have adjusting to a whole new reality. I wanted more of Hes' struggles to see these people as people not characters.
Admittedly, the webtoon (incomplete so far) takes the edge over this one with it's emphasis on Kael/Cael's thoughts and some pacing/other decisions.
Nevertheless, this is a very fun and interesting take in a saturated genre that stands on its own. Major props for not stretching the story past it's merit.

Had a pleasant enough time with this one. I would have liked it to be a bit shorter on the whole revenge plot and for the main characters to communicate and get officially together sooner.

Both the FMC and MMC were a bit frustrating at times, particularly at the start of the series, but they make a nice couple. My main gripe is that the antagonist, Diana was came across cartoony and delusional in her motivations -Not understanding how her actions wronged Caelus (the MMC) and just convincing herself everything was the FMC fault. Still, had a good enough time.

oh Hestia and Caelus 😭🤍 started with the manhwa that’s updated to chapter 65 as of now and could not resist moving onto the novel to complete the story. i love their slow burn. although i have to say a very tiny part of me could not resist thinking of “what if” for Hestia and Helios because of his line “Perhaps Hestia would remain eternally in Helios' longing. It's a secret he wouldn't tell anyone.” that got me 😩 but i will always choose Caelus for Hestia 💜❤️

I discovered this manhwa and wanted to read the novel while waiting for new chapters. I really like the story as it shows a different side of reincarnation stories with the main character struggling to accept the world as more than a novel. The characters are also very amazing (though I think manhwa Kaelus is much more expressive than novel Kaelus).

Can’t wait to read the rest of the manhwa once it’s out!
