A bit weird to rate conference proceedings. After over a decade, this collection is still the most current and relevant work in Berio studies (along with the two-volume Téâtre musical de Luciano Berio conference proceedings which came out the same year). The papers by Carone, Agemennone, and Scherzinger are particularly good, and the introductory remarks by Eco and Sanguineti surprisingly touching. There are a lot of papers here that continue to be gems (particularly for moving beyond the 1950s-60s, where Berio studies continue to be trapped), and the collection is still the best guide to Berio scholarship that currently exists after David Osmond-Smith's book.
