Dark Desires

Rate this book
To pay my father's debt, I must become an unwilling pawn in a mobster's cruel, twisted game.

GIO
Avion's father has made a fatal mistake.
He borrowed money from me - the most infamous loan shark in the city.
Unlike my competitors, I always follow up on my debts.
Even if they lay with the governor.
But when I notice his stunning daughter, I think of another way her worthless father can repay me.
Maybe Avion is exactly the woman I've been looking for.
Now all that's left to do is make her submit.

AVION
He's tall, dark, handsome and tatted - everything my mother warned me about in a man.
On her dying bed, my mom made me promise to be a good girl.
Unfortunately for me, my new owner has something else in mind.
But I refuse to break for the man who ruined my life.
No matter how attracted I am to him, he is the one who destroyed my life.
And I'd rather die than be his willing toy.

Dark Desires is a standalone dark, mafia romance.

Lots of problems with this book.

It’s not dark and at least 200 pages too long.

These are the most inept mobsters ever. They get attacked and come out on the losing side multiple times. Betcha the Boy Scouts could have beat them

The female mc Avion is pretty. That’s it. In a conversation with her best friend who is a police chiefs daughter she doesn’t understand why her friend would need to end the friendship. ITS BECAUSE YOUR DATING A MOBSTER/KILLER IDIOT!!

The male mc Giovanni becomes an indecisive wimp after becoming involved with Avion … because she is the perfect sub and just so pretty. Ugh 😣

And a lot of fuss over a defaulted half a million dollar loan which makes no sense when Gio can just auto destruct his super complex villains lair and lay down the bucks no problem for a new 120 million dollar pad.

Reading this book was just super irritating. Too bad. I love this authors mobster books with Atlas Rose but this was just not good.

2 rating - no disclosure that this was a BDSM themed novel - DNF 40% read

This author writes well but I am not happy with the direction her more recent books are going.
I am returning this book. I have read books from this author and enjoyed them but have found that some of her recent releases have something in common.....the "Dom-Sub" theme.

Christian Grey's character was a unique introduction into the Dom/Sub genre in the 50 Shades of Grey series. That series also had a story and a backstory that was well developed explaining why he had ventured into the BDSM world as well as a real love story. So many attempts to replicate that seem nothing more than want-to-be Christian Grey's. There are so many ways to secure allies in a story that don't include a Dom/sub theme. I have no issue with authors that use some BDSM in a book to enhance a relationship or possible love story, but Gio's purpose is complete control of Avion so he can use her against her father and brothers. "Here girl, here girl, sit, beg, get on your knees and suck my c.......k and; call me Sir or Master." Ugh.

This story could have been so much more based on the direction this book could have gone. It could have included plenty of sex and kink without the over use of a BDSM theme. The basis for the story was good and had strong potential. Unfortunately, for me the Sub-Dom theme was just over emphasized.

The blurb never mentioned that Gio was a dominate, nor that the Dom/Sub theme was going to be so much of the storyline. This was supposed to be a dark Mafia romantic love/hate/revenge storyline. Dom/Sub relationships do not focus on romance or love, just sex; it's all about the physical release, nothing more.

If you like the Dom/Sub theme then you may enjoy this series.

Avion belongs to an important family of politicians, but her brothers are also gangsters.
Gio is an architect who also moves in the underworld.
Gio is Avion's father's loan shark, and he wants his money. When he sees that Curtis can't pay him, he kidnaps Avion as collateral. But Avion turns out to be more than he first thought: leverage and maybe a new sub.
But Avion manages to penetrate his armor and Gio finds himself in unknown territory: he has fallen in love.
What would be great if it weren't that while this love story unfolds there are people trying to kill him, his family and Avion and the attacks never stop and are becoming more accurate, which makes him wonder if he has a traitor among them his ranks or will it be Avion who has been using him to help her brothers?
❤️ it from start to finish.

3.5 almost 4 stars… I have such mixed feelings in this book. I didn’t hate it by any means and at most points really enjoyed the story. My biggest complaint is the length believe it or not and the over and use of the dom/sub definitions. I feel like there were just filler parts to make the book hit a certain word count that were not necessary so it caused the book to drag at points but when it was going it was hard to put it down. With another editing I think there is truly something there with this book it just needs that extra fine touch.

Fast paced action romance. It really is not very dark. It is about Gio a mafia heir and don in his own right and his soulmate Avion. I like the way the story developed. There were plenty of unpredictable twists and turns to keep me turning page after page. The scenes segued into each other with easy and was easy to comprehend what was happening. I loved the characters especially the terrifying Merrick, Gio's dad and I loved his gun toting mom Tamyrn. It took me by surprise who the traitor of the story was. But then it made sense. I loved reading this. I do recommend it.

Gio is not a man that would turn down an opportunity put to him, and he takes it. Avion is innocent at the beginning of this story, but by the end, she fits right into the Raines family. Lots of twists and turns and this hits keep coming from all sides. A lot of "he said", "she said", who do you believe. An enthralling read.

I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Although well written and the blurb sounded interesting, the book is overly long and the plot moves at a glacial pace. There was no apparent chemistry between the characters and I found myself disliking Gio. DNF @24%

There's assholes and there's douchebags. This guy was a total douchebags and not hot in the least. I had no desire to read anything about him after the first few pages.

I absolutely loved this story and didn't find it too dark.

However, I have to admit there were some annoying grammatical errors and plot holes that means I can't give it 5 stars.
