He saved her life. She owes him a summer. The price might be too high for both of them.

Armstrong Brant stepped between Glory Baldwin and a charging cow. He ended up with broken ribs and a farm and family he couldn’t care for through the pain.

At the prompting of The Sweet Water Piece Makers Quilting Club, Glory volunteers to watch Armstrong’s four children while he recovers. She owed him and it made sense. But she never expected to fall for a man with four boys.

Armstrong isn’t comfortable sitting around. And he’s definitely not comfortable watching someone else do his work. But he’s downright surly at the idea of allowing another woman into his life after his ex simply walked away.

Still, he doesn’t have much choice since he can’t even change a diaper with his broken ribs.

Spending a summer together might convince both of them they could take a chance on each other, but when his ex walks back into his home, he’s faced with a choice: does he walk away from the best thing that’s ever happened to him? Or will he come home to stay?

Cowboy Coming Home

I absolutely loved this book! It's a wonderful, heartwarming book. Neither Glory or Armstrong are looking for love. But when Armstrong saves Glory from being attacked by a cow and is hurt, she steps in to help him care for his four young sons. As they spend more time together, they realize something between them just feels right. The main characters in this book are wonderful, as are the 4 sons. I love Jessie's faith filled romances and the incredible way her stories are written. I highly recommend this book and if you're looking for a great book, you don't want to miss this one!

It's a win every time when it comes to a Jessie Gussman book! I love how this book highlights the wonderful character traits of Armstrong and Glory while still incorporating the struggle to overcome the less flattering side of their emotions. The fact that both recognize that what they want to do and what they should do are two different things makes them that much more admirable. This was a clean romance with a believable plot.

Cowboy Coming Home is a sweet, heartwarming, small town romance. I love this story! Armstrong is hurt protecting Glory from a changing cow. She steps in to help with his ranch and his four boys. I love how each of them grew and grew their relationship. This well written book kept me reading from the first page. If you enjoy Christian romance and people who strive to do write, do not miss any of Ms. Gussman's books. They are all awesome!

Another really wonderful story by Jessie Gussman. Armstrong and Glory are thrown together due to his getting broken ribs while saving her from a charging cow. Glory lives her faith by doing things how God wants. It is great to see all the interactions between Armstrong, his four boys and Glory as their relationship grows. The ending was a big surprise that I was not expecting. I loved this one and highly recommend it.
I received a free copy of this book and this is my voluntary, honest review.

Spell Check

Interesting story, with a twist at the end when the ex comes back. However reading was dampened, with names spelt differently off putting to the reader.

Two Different Writers?

I have always enjoyed Jessie‘s books and writing. But near the end of this book it seem like almost a whole chapter was left out when characters were included that had no real introduction. The name of one character had two different spellings. And earlier in the book the wrong name was obviously used for a character. What happened?

Sweet storyline!

This started out to be a really sweet story and yet changed with the kids mother getting cancer and coming to live with them. Made a odd ending to me, almost like someone said end it here.

A beautiful story that shares the importance of helping others. I enjoyed seeing how the main characters came together through his injury and worked together with their four children.

"Always keep your eyes on the cow," Glory had been told this from her earlies memories and likely before. The cow in the empty goat pen that they now needed for goats. The cow who had gone in alone. And who now had a calf. Glory got distracted. Armstrong jumped in after making sure his 4 little boys were safe, and the cow got really upset at this perceived tnreat to her baby. If he wasn't going to be killed, Glory had to distract the cow...and have a quick way to get out of its way. Thankfully, her big brother saw, made sure the EMT/worker at the auction pens whom Glory had called and who was on his way got to check him over, and their mom knew just how to phrase it, as did her brother. He had 3 cracked, almost to the point of broken, ribs. Meanwhile Glory, wishing for her sister Rose's help, rescued the 4 little boys whose information her mother had extracted from the "I just need to walk it off" cowboy, had passed on the information to Glory, and Glory had made sure they understood the safety rules & had let them watch the mama cow lick her baby clean of the amniotic sac & nudge it gently until it stood, unsteadily, on its feet. Then she'd taken them home, fed them, gotten them ready for bed and tucked in, and awaited her rescuer's return. Next morning, she had seen to the kids - though she almost forgot the lunches for the 2 school aged ones, she made it in time.
Armstrong had wanted to hire someone to look after the kids during the summer, but with their mother long gone because she was sick of kids and housework, having divorced him and left him to try to run a ranch and see to the needs of 4 kids under 8, and the pain from the injuries, he needed someone now. And he got a lot more than he expected. While Glory needed to know how his particular attachments worked with the tractor, she was a quick study, and could easily get up early enough to feed the livestock and water them, and take care of other farm chores, get the 2 older ones up & out to the school bus on time (and help with homework), get the younger ones up and ready for the day, and engage all the boys in helping her even if it slowed her down. The clothes were clean, ironed, and folded, the house was clean, the dishes washed after each meal, and she was still able to help out all over the farm. And she understood that some farm work just couldn't wait, and sometimes a sudden change in the weather pushed the need to complete a task to start sooner and last longer. The boys liked her, and she was fast falling in love with them...and maybe their daddy, as well.
And then one day, his ex shows up. It was a hog roast at church, with special games and events. Except for the oldest boy, the other 3 are overjoyed to see her, clinging to her. Glory nudges the oldest to go ahead and hug his mom, and is gracious even when the ex is back for the school's field day next day but Armstring wants Glory there as well, as do the boys.
But why is she suddenly back? She walked out, never called even on the kids' birthdays, never sent a card, or a letter, nothing. She doesn't seem to want to get her husband back, or her kids.
Can Glory and Armstrong manage with her there if she doesn't want to leave? Is there more to this than meets the eye? How can they safeguard the hearts of 4 little boys if she walks away again?
A well written story, as was the first one. It's nice to read a romance story that is a real romance, where people try to live God's way, not where they live together, get married, and have a HEA - which doesn't happen in real life; promiscuity increases the risk of cheating, and the thoughts that someone else might be out there that is even better than your present spouse, and easy divorce makes it simple to break families up, form new ones that then break up to form other new ones to the point where I wonder how many times, unintentionally, siblings or half siblings meet, knowing nothing of their blood relationship, and end up in incestuous marriages. It is a very real risk of our times, one that cannot be ignored. Also, it is nice to read a book that doesn't claim to be clean because the pages filled with sexually explicit material are only applied to married couples. Smut is smut, and the setting doesn't matter. With this author's books, you don't have that worry. Before or in a marriage, the author assumes you have the intelligence to figure out what happens behind closed doors. Thank you, ma'am!

A Sweet Read for Sweet Romance Fans

Cowboy Coming Home, book 2 in Jessie Gussman's Coming Home to North Dakota series, highlights the second Baldwin sister, Glory. She helps her mother and older brother Coleman in her family's auction barn and loves it. She knows how to move animals and transfer them to their new owners' trailers. But in noticing a newborn calf, she forgets a crucial rule: don't take your eyes off a mama to admire her baby.
Armstrong, a farmer and rancher, sees Glory in danger and puts himself between the charging cow and Glory. He gets several cracked ribs for his heroism. Glory, feeling guilty for inadvertently causing his injuries, volunteers to help him care for his four young sons and himself. The boys' mother left Armstrong because she didn't want to be tied to a husband and children--she wanted to be single and free--and Armstrong didn't want to go to the hospital after the incident, insisting that he was fine. If "fine" means unable to move without pain, then yes, he's fine! But the youngest is still in diapers and he can't change them, so he reluctantly accepts her offer.
The boys are eight, six, four, and three, and the younger ones take to Glory right away. The oldest takes longer, but he's won over in time by Glory's playfulness; Armstrong's ex wouldn't have wanted to do anything that could make her dirty or the boys messy--which eliminates nearly all boyhood fun! They admire each other's character and find themselves attracted to each other. It appears that Armstrong and Glory are in line for a happy ending. Then Armstrong's ex-wife arrives and complicates everything...
Blanche had left without saying anything to her sons, but when they see her they run to her without hesitating. The oldest views her with suspicion, but his brothers just enjoy being with their mom, leaving Glory feeling like a third wheel in the family she and Armstrong are trying to create, based on the Piece Maker quilters' advice to stop dancing around each other and admit their feelings! Blanche is as entitled and lazy as ever and assumes that Glory will stay in her and Armstrong's house to cook, clean, and care for the children. What nerve, Glory thinks. Then she considers what God wants her to do, and she agrees to do small tasks for Blanche.
After a few hours of demands being humbly met, Blanche asks Glory why she's being nice to her; Glory explains that she's trying to do what God would want. When Glory says Blanche looks tired and wonders how she can help, Blanche replies, "Find a successful treatment for Stage 4 pancreatic cancer." She wasn't entitled and lazy; she was simply too tired and weak to complete certain tasks herself. Her city "friends" wouldn't do anything for her, she lost her insurance, and she's close to the end, so she went back to Sweet Water hoping Armstrong would pay for hospice care. Glory says that she knows the town will come together to ease her final days, and when she breaks the news to Armstrong she tells him that he can put her salary aside to pay for a medical caretaker. He finally takes the quilters' advice, as does she, and the book ends with a predictable but still satisfying wedding.
Jessie Gussman is my favorite Kindle author, and despite some inconsistencies of verb tense and name spelling, she writes fluidly and lets me race through her characters' adventures. I don't understand the title--Armstrong is the cowboy, yet Blanche is the one who came "home"--but Jessie's storytelling talent makes this professional editor forgive many offenses! Only she can make North Dakota fascinating! I found myself sympathizing with Glory and Armstrong, and even with Blanche, a few pages after meeting them, and I think every character got the reward he or she deserved. I'm looking forward to reading the entire series!

Working at her mom’s auction house glory goes to move a cow and unfortunately she didn’t notice the cow had just given birth. Before she knew it a cowboy head run in the pin to stop the mama cow from attacking her. After it’s over she notices her rescuer is a man name Armstrong and all she knows about him is that he really needs to go to the ER and he’s a single dad of four boys. He is reluctant to go to the ER, because like most men he is strong and wants to act like pain means nothing, but when glories mom sweeps and tells Armstrong he must go to the ER and not to worry about his boys because glory will take care of them. Glory is hesitant, After all it’s her sister Rose who is good with children. Someone must take care of them though and so she steps in and it comes more natural to her then she would’ve first expected. As a matter of fact she fits right in with the boys and the dad as well. She is attracted to him but pushes the thoughts away and little does she know who to is attracted to her. Can these two ever get together? Will she be the mom the boys deserve? I am so glad Jessie Gussman decided to go back to Sweetwater I love how her characters make Christianity look so easy and even though they pray for more faith and or courage it all comes off so naturally. I have said this before and I’ll say it one more time I never read contemporary romance, but I cannot get enough of Jessie Gussman‘s books and I think that is because The values that her character told or tried and true and she doesn’t jump on the newest trend but goes with the old faithful and that is God good friends and honesty. I love this book and highly recommend it. If you love contemporary Christian romance you are sincerely missing out on a great one if you haven’t read this yet or any of Jessie Gussman‘s books. Please forgive any grammatical or punctuational errors I am blind and dictate all my reviews but all opinions are my own.

Armstrong and Glory’s story is a sweet, clean and charming romance. Before the accident at the auction barns, they knew of each other only in passing. After he was hurt saving Glory from being trampled by a cow, Glory volunteered to care for his four young sons while Armstrong sought medical attention. This action starts them on a path toward self-discovery, faith and eventually a future together. Working with Armstrong on his farm and taking care of his boys changes Glory’s view of herself. She is better with kids than she had ever thought she could be and helping Armstrong as he heals is no hardship, rather she finds it rewarding in so many ways. For Armstrong, Glory’s connection with his sons and himself shows him what was missing in his relationship with his ex wife. It also reveals some of his own shortcomings, things that he needs to improve upon if he wishes to have Glory in his future. He wants to see if he and Glory can have a relationship other than employer and employee. With the encouragement or nudging of the Piece Makers, (a group of quilters and charitable women and matchmakers), both Armstrong and Glory begin to see that God had a hand in bringing them together. A future together will take work, effort and faith for both of them, but love is worth it.

I loved the connection between Armstrong and Glory. They complement each other well and their story is wonderful and inspiring. I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Armstrong's been busy ever since his wife left him with four kids to care for. He certainly doesn't have time to be on the sick list! But when he sees Glory being charged by a cow, he steps in to rescue her without a second thought. Glory barely knows Armstrong and his boys, but when he saves her from injury, she feels obliged to step in and help him look after the boys and the farm while he heals. But somehow, looking after them all starts to feel dangerously like the home she's always wanted. Can Armstrong learn from his failed marriage and open himself up to something new? And when his ex reappears, will their fledgling relationship be strong enough to stand up to the strain?

As always with this author, this is an enjoyable and inspiring story, with interesting characters facing more or less unusual situations. In this case, I appreciated the way that Glory was willing to just step in and do what she could to help - particularly when it then came to 'the ex'. It's a touching story and a really good reminder of how we should treat others. And this inspiring message is the background of a story that is enjoyable and entertaining in itself. All in all, well worth a read, and the teaser in the epilogue definitely has me looking forward to the next book. Recommended.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from the author. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

This second book in The Coming Home to North Dakota Western ........ Series involves another sibling that helps out at the family animal auction business. Glory Baldwin helps move animals around during the auctions but on this particular night she doesn't see a newborn calf and the frightened mother tries to charge at her. Armstrong Brant stepped in to get the cow away but ended up getting broken ribs.

Armstrong already had his hands full taking care of his farm and trying to take care of his four young sons since his wife decided she had enough and walked away. He's looking for some help during the summer in taking care of the house and kids and The Sweet Water Piece Makers Quilting Club has decided that Glory is the perfect person to help out. After all Armstrong had just saved her life.

I enjoyed watching Glory work on the farm- her energy seemed to be endless as she balanced taking care of the boys with the household chores and helped out where needed in the farming. This was a difficult thing for Armstrong because his limitations were having him depend on her help.

I enjoyed most of this story but felt that the actual romantic relationship was rushed at the end. His ex wife showing up seemed to change the dynamic of the story. Overall it was a fun book to read and I look forward to what's coming next.

I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest unbiased review.

Cowboy Coming Home by Jessie Gussman (5 stars)

I think that this is the most adorable cowboy-themed book cover I’ve EVER seen! But that aside, the story is excellent, as well!

The character of Grace truly embodies the virtue she is named after. She’s a true model of Christian behavior. But she’s also human enough to be relatable because she struggles within herself when sometimes the behavior and attitude God would want is really difficult.

Armstrong is a character that needs some humbling before he is willing to admit to some flaws and work on them. He’s an admirable man, but not perfect by any means. And that makes him almost more relatable for me than Grace. To work on our innate selfishness is not always easy, but Armstrong has finally seen that his wife wasn’t the only one to blame for the break-up of their marriage. He’s willing to do the hard work to change himself and to subdue his more self-centered thinking and actions. And God has put an examplar of unselfish, cheerful behavior right in front of him in the form of Grace.

The two of them coming together is sweet and the children are adorable. A couple of very romantic scenes, but they are always clean :-)

It’s also absolutely hilarious when the quilting ladies pull Armstrong aside to give him a gentle talking to!!

Almost a marriage of convenience trope-my personal favorite- and a truly lovely story.

This was a wonderful story about regular people who care about each other and step up to help when challenges come their way.

Armstrong had saved Glory from a charging cow and in the process had broken three ribs. He had four little boys to take care of since his wife had left their family some time before. How in the world was he going to take care of his farm, his boys and be able to rest so his ribs could heal?

Glory owed Armstrong her life or, or at least owed him for saving her from certain harm. She wanted to help him and, at the encouragement of the quilting ladies in town, she offered her services to Armstrong. It was wonderful to see the development of the relationship between Armstrong and Glory. Glory was one of the most selfless people I have ever had the pleasure to "know". She truly was an angel on earth for Armstrong and his little boys. I was surprised by the ending but it just continued to show how selfless Glory was and what a good heart both she and Armstrong had.

The narration in the audiobook version of this book was well done, too. It was a calming way to spend some time while I accomplished tasks around my house.

I was given an arc copy of this book and I also listened to the audiobook version of this story, as well. I willingly offer my honest review of both.

I loved this story about the budding relationship between Glory and Armstrong. Glory works at her family's auction barn moving animals to staging areas. She went in a pen to move a cow not realizing the cow had a calf after she put the cow in that pen earlier. The cow charged towards Glory. Armstrong saw what was happening so he rammed into the cow but fell and the cow pushed him into the fence breaking some ribs before he could get away. Glory decided since he saved her from injury, that she would take his four small boys home while her brother took Armstrong to the ER. The next day, Glory decided to be a live-in nanny until Armstrong could recover. She was able to help with the farm chores also and was like a ray of sunshine with her cheerful attitude and the love she showed for Armstrong's children. She was very different from his ex-wife who divorced him and gave him full custody of their children. The characters are great. I highly recommend this as a clean romance. I received an ARC and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Working with livestock, all it takes is one mistake for a tragedy to happen. Glory almost finds this out the hard way. A mama cow is about to take her down when it comes Armstrong. He saves Glory from being hurt, but finds himself on the wrong side of the mama cow’s anger.

Armstrong is a father raising his 4 boys alone. He’s divorced and now he’s hurt and how do you handle a farm when you can barely move? You hire someone of course, and who other than the pretty gal you saved at the livestock auction.

As usually happens in Jessie’s books that I just love and adore, you have 2 people that need to find their way to happiness. With themselves, and maybe each other. Where will God lead them?

Come read and enjoy the journey of Armstrong, Glory, and his awesome 4 boys. I promise it’ll be well worth it!

We should all be as hardworking, loving, and skilled as Glory Baldwin. She's helping out at her family's auction when she makes a big mistake. A cow has given birth in a pen and Glory hadn't noticed. She is rescued by Armstrong, a local man that she knows only by sight and reputation. Unfortunately, he is seriously injured during the rescue. He is divorced with 4 small children, a farm with 100 head of cattle on it, and it's time for spring planting.

Glory takes the job of taking care of the kids, and she picks up a whole lot more on the farm- including maybe, possibly, a romantic interest in Armstrong.

This is a loving, sweet book and I loved the characters.

I received an advance reader copy from the author. This is my honest review.

I really liked this second book in the series because of the wonderful characters.  Glory was a very down to earth character that loved her family and her life.  I liked how she opened her heart to help Armstrong and his four sweet boys when he needed help.  Armstrong was a very humble man who was trying to do the best he could with his farm and his four sweet sons.  He did not like needing help from anyone.I enjoyed the Piece Maker ladies who liked to play matchmaker and give out their sweet advice. Their antics were interesting. This story was fun, sweet, and full of surprises just like author Jessie Gussman is known to do.  I really enjoyed the tale she wrote and the wonderful characters.  I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

Armstrong rescued Glory from an upset mama cow and was injured in the process so Glory stepped in to assist him with his farm chores, housework, cooking, and especially his four young sons. I always learn so much about what good character looks like when reading one of Jessie Gussman's books. In this book I loved how Glory worked hard and went above and beyond without thinking she should be noticed or thanked. I admired the way she did hard things, kind things, that she knew God would want her to do even if nobody would blame her if she chose not to do them. It was very inspirational and uplifting. I highly recommend! I received an ARC from the author and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.

Enjoyed Armstrong and Glory's story. Armstrong was left with his 4 small boys, when his wife decided she didn't want a husband or kids. Needing help with the boys and now help on the farm because of a cow cracking his ribs, he turned to Glory. I loved how Glory jumped in and helped mend Armstrong, and his four little boys hearts. I had a busy week, but could not wait to sit down and read some more chapters. I was so cheering these two to get together, but then a surprise showed up and had me biting my lips. I'm not going to spoil things, but I hope I could be as gracious as Glory was. If you like clean, heartfelt stories that inspire you to be more, I highly recommend 'Cowboy Coming Home'. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.

The Heart of a servant

This is actually my third Jessie Guess an book, I started with #3 and then read one and two. They are good standalone books. There was only a couple of typos and they didn't detract from the storyline. Glory and her family run an auction business besides having other jobs and it's there Armstrong gets injured. He runs in to help Glory with a mama cow and gets a few cracked ribs. Glory ends up taking care of his four little boys and the stock until Armstrong recovers.
Jesse's books are unapologetically Christ-centered. I would say they are the what would Christ do in this situation, of romance novels. The stories are entertaining family centered and just good reading material. I would say anyone over 14 would enjoy them.

I love Glory and her consistent positive attitude and Christlike love of everyone. Armstrong Brandt is a strong loving father of four young boys that is just trying to run his farm and take care of his boys after his ex-wife, Blanche walked out on him last year. Armstrong is attending Glory's family weekly auction when a mother cow gets riled up and starts to charge Glory while her back is turned. Armstrong jumps in and takes the hit for Glory, breaking three ribs and making it very hard for him to run his ranch or take care of his boys. Glory steps in to repay his kindness and the attraction sizzles. A sweet, clean read.

I love how Armstrong is so willing to risk his life / health to save Glory. With being the sole parent to his 4 boys, it's amazing, and for Glory to step right up and assist him with his kids while he heals is naturally what she's been brought up to do. I love how she can seamlessly make all that work look. She's used to hard work and doing her share - her brother tells Armstrong that she can do it, and she does. I love how attracted they are to each other and how their romance works out. I also love how Glory - even though she's uncomfortable, takes care of Armstrong's ex. What a great book!

Great addition to the series.
Fantastic characters and storyline.
Glory works at her family’s Auction house. She’s been working around animals her whole life.
Armstrong comes to her rescue when a mama cow charges her. His wife left him with their four boys so now he’s raising them on his own. Unfortunately he is injured and Glory agrees to take care of the boys until morning.
Will the sorrow and distrust from his failed marriage keep him from seeing the possibilities with Glory?

Cowboy Coming Home

This is a wonderful addition to the series. Glory works with the animals in the auction house/sale barn. While trying to transfer a cow, she find’s herself in the path of an angry mama cow. Armstrong comes to her aide and is injured. He has a ranch and four young boys to care for so he can’t be lounging around until he is well. Glory is volunteered by the piece maker/matchmakers of the church. While caring for this family she loses her heart to them but can Armstrong risk the pain of having another woman walk out on him and his children?.

Armstrong is a single dad with four little boys; two of them are in school but the other two are still at home. It's time to start planting the crops but he can't take the boys on the tractor with him because there just isn't any room. He decides to talk to the older ladies in town to see if they know of anyone that could possibly help with the boys for the summer. While in town he decides to take the boys to the auction in town but while there he ends up with three cracked ribs so now he Really needs help.
I loved this book and I highly recommend it.
