Sliced Up Press proudly presents twenty-two visions of peculiar monsters and weird phenomena from around the world, and beyond. Familiar or not, you'll soon learn to fear what lurks within, whether it's music stolen from the dead, ravenous beasts of burden, inexplicable bodily growths, or dreadful things slipping through your letterbox. Plus much more!
A great collection of short stories and poems by a diverse group of authors. A few of the stories were a bit too gross/gorey for me, but this is a must-read for hardcore horror fans!
Bias disclosure: I have a poem in this collection called "Mother; Microbes"
This collection is full of wonderful, creepy work from some very talented writers. Reading through the ARC, I was blown away by the quality of writing and the imagination. If you want some seriously weird and unexpected monsters, look no further!
I'm a part of this antho so I won't rate it but my favourite stories are In All Other respects Resembles a Bull by Sarah Peploe and Cul-de-Sac by Stephanie Rabig.
A wide range of short stories in there, and an asortment of poems which helped me discover the work Joe Koch, Avra Margariti or Ai Jiang.
In All Other Respects Resembles a Bull by Sarah Peploe - I'd never heard of a bonnacon before, but I loved the one in this story. I love animals, so I was pleased this one dealt out some just desserts on the men here.
The Devil's Footprints by Tabatha Wood - Excellent religious horror story. On a snowy night, a reporter from a paranormal paper goes through the records of a vicar in Devon who has written about the title phenomena. The reporter is not a believer, but she might change her mind when the devil comes calling.
A New and Differnt Hunger by Tiffany Morris - Kelpies! I love kelpies! A woman sees strange horses at night, and that's all I'm going to say. I don't want to spoil this awesome story.
In the Woods, Somewhere by Maxx Fidalgo - A legitimately unsettling being is responsible for the dire fate of two teenage ne er do wells when they try to dump a body in its woods.
This is a great anthology for creature feature fans. Check it out if you're in the mood for a good monster story.
