One dragon. One wolf. Two alphas. Surely Fate must’ve messed up.

After spending the last two hundred years locked up in the family castle with his three younger brothers, Erwan is climbing the walls. Literally. He’s a dragon who isn’t allowed to fly, forbidden to use his magic, all to stay hidden from the rest of the world. How will he ever find his mate like this?

But when he finds an injured omega in the woods around the castle and brings him home, the spell that kept them hidden is broken. Erwan wants their dragon clan to re-enter the world, but his father is dead set against it.

When wolf pack alpha, Rhene, comes a-knocking to demand the omega back, Erwan is shocked by what Fate whispers in his ear. Then again, the same is true for Rhene. Neither one of them imagined their mate quite like this.

Two alphas? A dragon and a wolf? A man whose patience has been stretched thin already and one hothead? Uh oh. At least it makes for some highly combustible sparks.

Soon, they discover they have bigger problems. Others have felt the dragons’ magic stir again as well…

Dragon’s Mate is the first book in the Irresistible Dragons series. This is a spin off from the Irresistible Omegas series, but you don’t need to have read that to enjoy these two as they fight, bicker, and stumble their way into love.

Would you like the long or the short version of my bio?

The short? You got it.

I write steamy gay romance books and I love it. I also love reading books. Books are everything.

How was that?

A little more detail? Gotcha.

I started writing my first stories when I was a teen…on a freaking typewriter. I still have these, and they’re adorably romantic. And bad, haha. Fear of failing kept me from following my dream to become a romance author, so you can imagine how proud and ecstatic I am that I finally overcame my fears and self doubt and did it. I adore my genre because I love writing and reading about flawed, strong men who are just a tad broken..but find their happy ever after anyway.

My favorite books to read are pretty much all MM/gay romances as long as it has a happy end. Kink is a plus… Aside from that, I also read a lot of nonfiction and not just books on writing. Popular psychology is a favorite topic of mine and so are self help and sociology.

Hobbies? Ain’t nobody got time for that. Just kidding. I love traveling, spending time near the ocean, and hiking. But I love books more.

First: this is for all my friends who were interested before but minded all the poly-romances in the previous series. In this first book we only have a love story of two. And what a beautiful one it is. Prepare for all the myth and magic of dragons and all the family-feels of a wolf pack.

It’s no secret how much I loved the initial series, so I couldn’t stop and just binged the rest of what’s available so far of the spin-off as well.

Two alphas, different species, fated mates —how delicious, right?

Rhene: wolf alpha, pack alpha of the Hightower pack

Erwan: dragon alpha, crown prince of the Doyle clan

Who would’ve thought that this cocky alpha would steal his heart, only to keep it forever?

This was so so good!! A great start to a fantastic new series. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

side note: with the extended character-list we got at the beginning of the book, I guess this series can be read without knowing the other beforehand. But, as always, the reading experience is better when you know about the past events and the characters already living in the wolf packs.

Great start to a new and interesting shifter series.

⚠️Mild spoilers ahead⚠️

Rhene is an alpha wolf shifter who discovers that his fated mate is Erwan, an alpha dragon shifter who had been living in seclusion with his brothers for the last 200 years. Upon discovering his mate he learns that Erwan is a descendant of a dragon clan that dishonored a pact made between their forefathers centuries ago that basically said the dragons were to aid the wolves against any enemies that wished them harm. Neither Rhene or Erwan were aware of this pact but it still upset Rhene because he could have used the dragons' help fighting off humans who were trying to run experiments on their children (This is, I believe, the main conflict of the first series).

I was fine with accepting that the wolf pack wasn't aware of this pact but it didn’t really make sense to me because even though the majority of the dragon clans broke the oath there were still dragon clans that wanted to uphold it. In order to do that they would have had to maintain contact with the wolves. The Doyle clan, in particular, was still honoring the pact until Erwan's father became king, and that was just 200 years ago. It doesn’t make sense that no one in the pack other than their storyteller knew of it. And a lot of good that was since he never told them any of it.

I didn’t realize that this was a spin-off of an earlier series, but I was able to keep up just fine. There are, admittedly, a lot of characters but the author provides a character list at the beginning of the story that briefly explains who is mated to who and what position each person has within which pack. The only consequence of having not read the previous series is not knowing the backstories of those characters’ relationships and there were a few things that were brought up between the Hightower brothers that I didn’t fully understand, but it didn’t affect my overall enjoyment of the story at all.

Because this is a fated mates story there isn’t a lot of relationship building but I still liked the way the MCs went into the relationship. Erwan had to find the courage to stand up to his crazy homophobic father and be with his mate even if it meant leaving his family and seeking acceptance from the very group his family betrayed. Rhene.. well, Rhene was pretty perfect, but he had to make his pact understand that Erwan wasn’t a threat to them and help them understand that what his family did wasn’t on him. I really enjoyed it and will absolutely check out book 2. It involves a throuple so I’m not sure how much I’ll like it but I’m willing to give it a chance. Apparently, throuples are a norm in this pact. 3.5 stars, rounded up.

I was so bored.. this was the embodiment of "meh".

The writing is uninspired and bland. The world building is lacking, because nobody knows anything for the longest time, then at the middle of the book there's an info dump about things that happened in a connected series.
The plot is weak, so many things just don't make sense.. Just one example: why would the MCs, one a prisoner and one the not-trusted-by-the-king-and-kept-about-everything-important-in-the-dark heir be allowed to roam freely in the castle for days? The only explanation is that the author needed their time together to let them get closer and find out secrets. In the story's context it doesn't make sense at all.

I enjoyed the discussion of consent, and how both MCs respect and cherish each other.

What a Blockbuster Start to a Series!!!

The author out did herself with this book. She has populated this complex world she created with characters that felt real and fascinating from page
one. The story is so well written that it feels totally real and I can't wait to see what happens next!

I just love Erwan. I am kinda sad I didn't read the prequel coz of Rhene and his siblings. I just wanna know how the hell they didn't know they were hurting him.

The massage scene was one of the hottest scenes I've ever read.

I loved the dynamic with Rhene and Erwan. They are very sexy together. HOT!
I liked that Rhene is even open minded enough to bottom and doesn’t necessarily assume a dominant role. They seemed more like equal partners. They communicated like adults too which I love.

The dragon world was fascinating and I want to know more on the mythology. Erwan’s “special” power was fascinating.

One of my favorite parts in this book was when Rhene confronts his brothers?!?! That was a LONG time in coming. It was SO satisfying having read the previous series to see Palani and Keane and how their actions affected Rhene.

There are A LOT of characters to know but I didn’t feel overwhelmed. I’d forgotten some of the dynamics of some couples so some of the story was a refresher which was great.

On the bigger plot, I’m definitely curious about what the king and his brother are up to! How do they know black magic?!? The uncle is SO dodgy! I definitely NEED more. Erwan’s mom is a wild card too and I definitely want more backstory there!

📝Note to Nora..
All of Erwan’s brothers need books too. I’m very curious about Emma the librarian as well. Maybe a FF? Ever consider that? Or a MFF or MMF?
I always want to know more about Blair. This series is going to be fun to read!

I’m hooked on this story! I love that dragons and wolves are in the same mythology. I need book 2 like now! Lol 😂

Oh I am intrigued by where this new series is going to go!

It's a spin-off from Nora's fabulous Irresistible Omegas and sees Rhene Hightower finding his mate - and a whole hidden castle of dragons on the edge of the Hayes pack lands.

There's mystery and a sense of impending menace surrounding the series long plot arc but this book nicely sets up the story for Rhene and his dragon mate Erwan.

It's also exceedingly steamy, as you'd expect with an omegaverse, although Nora's worlds are never conventional and here there's two conflicting cultures coming together to solve a question which centres on a long ago pack between wolves and dragons.

There's nothing overly complicated or difficult to understand here, it's an easy to read and enjoyable romp and I'm very much looking forward to more.

#ARC kindly received from the author in return for an honest and unbiased review.

I really enjoyed Dragon's Mate, a paranormal romance between two alphas; a wolf shifter and a dragon shifter.

You can tell that this is an established world with a rich history, but I never felt lost because I have not read the author's previous series that's set in the same universe. Instead it made me want to pick up said series and learn as much as I can about these characters.

This is the first book in the Irresistible Omegas' spin off - Irresistibile Dragons, and features Rhene Hightower, the wolf, and Erwan Doyle, the dragon! Their love story is fascinating, hot, sweet, steamy all at ones. I loved Erwan's cuteness and his loyalty to the ancient oath.
There was so much we didn't know about Rhene!!! I loved his cockiness and how he stands up for himself with his brothers.
The subplot is captivating as only Nora Phoenix can do. It hooked me immediately and I am already looking forward to the next one. I hope it involves Blair.
Also, we are able to see many members of the Hayes Pack, and it feels like coming home. Sivney, as always, shows everybody that he's the perfect second-in-command for their pack.
I voluntaryily reviewed a complimentary copy
of this book.

great start to a spin-off

3.5 rounded up. One of the things Nora excels at is storytelling. Her original omegaverse series is pretty epic and very well thought out and original. And it also comes with the Nora trademark high steam. This was just good, and different, and exciting. I’m really looking forward to the next book.

I will say that if you haven’t read the original omegaverse books, you will probably be a bit lost. There is a lot of characters and a lot of lore with it. Even with Nora’s explanation of what happened in that series, I still can’t imagine reading this one without having read that series.

A good start to a new series. I liked the setup with the dragon family and the wolf pack. I've only read a couple of the books from this author's Irresistible Omegas series (I don't know why because I really liked what I read) and this book continues on with those characters, but I didn't feel lost reading this book.

Erwan and Rhene are fated mates, even though it's shocking to both them and their families since one is a dragon and the other a wolf. I felt so bad for Erwan and his brothers because they had been hidden away in a castle for over 200 years. Because of this, Erwan was very inexperienced with many things, especially love, romance and sex. Rhene was very patient and understanding with Erwan.

This book did a great job introducing a multitude of new characters and I look forward to reading their stories.

Dragon’s Mate is the first in a spinoff series to Nora Phoenix’s Irresistible Omegas series. The author does a good job of laying all the groundwork, so if you haven’t read the ten books in the first series, you won’t be missing a whole lot. However, having read those books, I think there’s an extra nuance here, especially in regards to Rhene, his pack, and his relationship with his brothers, that is deeper for having the whole story. There are some particular plot points that pack an extra punch after having read the whole of the first series. So that being said, you could start here if you wish, but I think there’s added benefit to reading both series.

I’ve been looking forward to this series since Rhene created the Hightower pack, splitting the Hayes pack. Not in the least because some of the secondary characters who chose to join the Hightower pack are intriguing in their own right, and perfect for a story of their own. I really like the twist the author went with here, and how well the world building has lent itself to previously unknown dragons.

Great intro to a new series
Loved Rhene and Erwan, the connection between them was palpable from the very beginning and they were hot together. The story was engaging from start to finish, the dragon world is fascinating and I want to uncover all the secrets it hides. Ends with HFN for MCs but the ongoing mystery plot just began. Can't wait to read what happens next and what Erwan dragon's color means.
I haven't read Irresistible Omegas and it didn't bother me. Past events and characters from previous books were introduced but never took over the story. Just enough info was given to understand who is who.

It’s tough to rate this so low because I was so excited about it, but it was a disappointment after the last series. Those books were so engaging with so much going on in the characters’ world, it made this one feel like it crawled. There isn’t even really a twist because they give it away at the beginning. I thought Rhene deserved better. I still hope the rest of the series is more interesting, I’ll give it at least one more book.

As much as I enjoyed this first book in the cross-over series, I struggled with Rhene and Erwan’s voices. I’m sure it was all me, but I’m disappointed that their story won’t continue in the next book, which will involve a new throuple. I feel as if there’s still more to this couple.

This was not really for me, mostly because I'm not a big fan of Alpha/Omega stories and shifters in general. But I love the author and there was no MPRG, so I was willing to give it a try.
But I just could not get invested in the romance, because it felt superficial and shallow. It's all fated anyway and there just did not seem to be much additional relationship building. Usually I enjoy the sex scenes in shifter books, but I found it pretty mellow and nondescript here. There's a big focus on consent, which is nice in theory, but with this kind of book I tend to prefer more animalistic passion and intentionally not being too PC and correct about it all.

I did enjoy the history elements and the story was not bad, but too much was left open for the next books, which threw off the pacing for me. There's also a confusing amount of character in the book and I could not keep them straight, because I had not read the series about the wolf pack.

Erwan and Rhene's story laid the groundwork for what I can already tell is going to be another incredible series. You don't need to read the Irresistible Omegas series to understand what's going on here (though this book does spoil some of the prior events), but there are a lot of familiar faces and names that won't mean much if you haven't read about the Hayes pack previously.

I got sucked into the action right away, as anxious about Riordan's safety as I was curious about why Erwan was so hesitant to bring him back to the castle. It was a bit of a shock to realize how old-fashioned and mistrustful the dragons were, but I guess that's what happens when you stay hidden away from society for centuries. If I had any illusions about the dragons being these mythical and perfect beings, that was shattered by the way they treated Erwan for saving Riordan's life and their less-than-welcoming reception of Rhene. Even before they knew Rhene was a wolf shifter, Erwan's uncle and father treated him like the enemy, and it only got worse once they realized which pack he belonged to.

I knew Erwan and Rhene had a long road ahead of them to be accepted as mates, but it was shocking how backwards the dragons' beliefs were about some things. Erwan, of course, was one of the few willing to listen and understand the flaws in what he'd been taught, and it warmed my heart to see the careful way he and Rhene got close under the heavy scrutiny of the guards and his father. Erwan and Rhene's connection was magnetic in a way that could only be explained by fated mates, but they still took things slow and chose to learn more about each other before jumping into bed together. I swooned over every sweet kiss and cuddle, and as the two of them got comfortable enough to take things further, I thought my heart was going to melt into a giant puddle. Their romance had all the hallmarks of a Nora Phoenix couple, with a sweet, emotional connection that translated into delightfully steamy moments of passion.

Erwan knew surprisingly little about his heritage, and the more he opened up to Rhene, the more we all realized that something much bigger was going on with the Doyle clan. The whole thing was a fascinating mystery with so many missing pieces of information to uncover, and I had a ton of fun going on the hunt for clues along with Erwan and Rhene. From magically sealed libraries to shocking historical revelations, I learned a lot about what happened after the events from the prologue, but still have so many questions about what led the Doyle clan to abandon their pact. I thought Nora did a fantastic job feeding me breadcrumbs of information without ever revealing the big secrets, because I still have no clue how everything I learned fits into the bigger picture of this series.

As much as this book was about love and adventure and discovery, it was also about family and restoring honor. Both Erwan and Rhene had some difficult, emotional conversations with family members throughout this book, and those moments were the ones where I could see their character growth the most. I've felt proud of book characters before, but never as proud as I did of Erwan and his brothers for owning up to how their misdeeds led to so much suffering for the wolves and finding a path to restore their honor. All in all, I thought this book laid a solid foundation to launch into the rest of this series, with plenty of foreshadowing to keep me on edge about what's coming next and the promise of even more sweet and swoony romances to fall head over heels for.

**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.

“Dragon’s Mate” was such a strong start of the series Irresistible Dragons, a spin-off from Nora’s Irresistible Omegas series. It works on its own, but some context might be a little confusing and there will be some spoilers if you haven’t read Irresistible Omegas beforehand.

It’s a pretty fast paced story and once I got into it I didn’t want to put it down. Erwan was so easy to like and I liked how he and Rhene had to figure things out together about the shared history between wolf and dragon shifters. I mean, as much as I wish that Grayson could just stop being cryptic and share his wisdom, it has its charm and purpose. Since it’s the first book in the series it focuses mostly on research and history and the main plot will continue through the other books - I’m so curious to see where this is all heading!

I always liked the Hightower brothers and it felt as if Rhene had grown and found his role as pack alpha here. He was great with his pack but also with Erwan, very fierce and protective. Erwan was just such a sweetheart, he and Rhene were perfect for each other and there was just so much tenderness and raw love portrayed between them - even if they didn’t want to recognise it themselves. Erwan was totally adorable whenever he would slip up and use very formal or archaic words, which also further cemented his backstory and history.

I always liked Nora's take on Omegaverse and how it works in the Hayes pack; that everyone is equal and can identify however they like. Erwan, coming from a much older and more traditional background had some internal struggles with designations and expected roles - but Rhene was great with him and after they worked through some things it got really hot and deliciously steamy…

I must say that I loved that the Hayes pack was a part of this book. I really missed the guys and it was great to see them again. I’m totally hooked on this series and can’t wait to see where this is all going - there were so many mysteries uncovered but left unsolved in this book that I’m already itching for the next one!

Hidden Castle suddenly appears? Sign Me Up!!! I absolutely love how this new series is so seamlessly woven into the end of the Irresistible Omegas series! Rhene is the Alpha of the new wolf pack formed from Lidon's ever growing pack! He gets magical passage into the hidden dragon castle to find his lost omega and that is where he meets Erwan our sweet, innocent Alpha Dragon. A blushing virgin Alpha! Too adorable how he only knew of the old fashion ways since he had been locked away in the castle for so long! His strength and determination once he meets Rhene is stunning to watch unfold. The chemistry between these two alphas was perfection! The awareness of rightness they both instantly feel is just as strong as the physical chemistry. They are somehow scorching hot and adorably sweet all rolled together. I read an arc and I am so invested in this world and all the previous series characters and new characters I am itching for book two now!

I love Nora Phoenix and assumed I would love this, but I didn't. I found it super hard at first to follow-along because there were so many names mentioned (so many!). From there, I felt the author spent WAY TOO LONG withholding the secret of what kind of shifter one of the MC's was. And once he does shift, it's alluded that he's special but there isn't much details beyond that. Huh? Super bummed that I didn't enjoy this book as hoped.

Dragon’s Mate is the long awaited first book in the Irresistible Dragons series - a spin off from Nora Phoenix’s hugely popular Irresistible Omegas series. Nora writes this book to be followed without having read the previous series, but you will most definitely get a much richer experience if you have read the Irresistible Omegas series first. They really are an incredible series and I can’t recommend them enough.
In this book, we follow Rhene Hightower who is leading the newly established pack. They are settling themselves in their new home. When one of the pack goes missing on a walk, Rhene tracks them and finds a previously undiscovered castle right in their backyard - clearly magically hidden from the wolf shifters until now.
Erwan and his family have been hiding for more than 200 years, but after he finds an injured omega when out hunting, he inadvertently drops the magic that’s been hiding them all this time, allowing Rhene to find the castle and knock on the proverbial door.
Nora is known for her brilliant plots, whose many layers which enthral readers on each page. Her flawed, but captivating characters endear themselves to us by showing vulnerability, emotion and courage. This story has all of these elements and while the overarching plotline continues through the series (so are not resolved in this book), the story ends on a satisfying point, as the main characters find a happy ever after with each other.
Dragon’s Mate is an exciting start to a new series that I know many fans will be eager to start. If you haven’t experienced Nora’s particular style before, I promise she offers thought provoking and emotive storytelling which provides such a satisfying reading experience that many of us gobble up her entire catalogue once we’ve had a taste!

On verra bien !

This is a great start to the new series, and I very much look forward to seeing where it goes from here.

I loved that Rhene got to confront his brothers, and that he found his mate in Erwan, even if Erwan is not my favorite character ever. He seems a little naive and very sheltered, but I bet he is going to play a very important role going forward as the author always tells us not to underestimate anyone.
