The Final Battle

Rate this book
Attacked on the eve of her coronation by the Lost King’s crazed dragon, Cassarah is left reeling.

Dealing with the destruction to the castle and having almost lost her life, along with Vasin, has her wondering if they will ever be able to defeat this mad man. Her guardians rally around her along with a few others, surprising Cassarah when she thought that door had been closed.

Pressing forward, Cassarah is finally crowned the Dragon Queen ruler of Sheca and all its people. With the magic of the lands tied to the Dragon Throne fueling her Birthright to new levels, Cassarah becomes an even bigger threat to the Lost King. Battles begin in the shadows as Cassarah learns that the Lost King is hiding something important in Creisal.

Thanks to the newly formed alliance with their king, Cassarah and her most trusted companions leave the safety of Sheca to face the war that is coming. Armed with determination, dragons, and the knowledge that she is the last defense to protect her world, Cassarah will do whatever it takes to end this once and for all.

This will be the last battle, and to the winner goes the spoils.

Really enjoyed the final book about Cass, Vaslin and her guardians. The series was like a sexy fantasy adventure all wrapped in one. Cass had such an up hill battle trying to become a good Queen as well as a companion to 8 men all while trying to defeat the Lost King and all those under his influence. The ending was perfect! I would to see another epilogue in the future with their kids .

It was going so well.

Then surprise pregnancy got shoved in at 75% with no warning. I hate surprise pregnancy trope.

Some may say I'm being dramatic but this has ruined the series for me. It adds nothing to the story, it could have been left for an epilogue, but no. Instead we get the drivel of how Cassarah is "no longer the ruler of her own body"

That attitude makes me want to scream. The writing felt like pro-birther rhetoric being shoved down my throat.

All the men and some women act as though Cassarah is incapable of simple tasks.

Not to mention the birth is on page.

This is content that should have a warning. Absolutely disappointing that there wasn't one.

All you need is love and hope

Wow, it has been a true pleasure following along on Cassarah's journey. From noble woman to mercenary to dragon queen, she has had such an extensive and thrilling story and has changed quite a bit since the first book. I love how commanding she was in this book but also how she put her people first. She definitely took her new role seriously and although she did make some extreme decisions at stressful times, she had people she loved to knock some sense into her and have her take a second glance at what she was risking by putting herself in dangerous situations. That's love for you. Being able to communicate with one another and be able to see both sides to an issue. I wouldn't say that Cassarah and her guys are perfect, no relationship really is, but the way they supported, loved, and even argued with each other made their relationship a healthy one, giving them something to fight for and so many positive reasons to finish this war once and for all.

There was a whole lot of information found out just in time in this last book, stuff that would have never been discovered unless Cassarah and her guardians went to the heart of things, Creisal. The Lost King had more than one trick up his sleeve and I didn't expect him to be so strategic in his plotting since he seemed half off his rocker already. After all of the bigger moves we had seen him make in the other books, it also surprised me to see that he was really great at playing the long game, making small changes and slowly bringing people to his side and causing the most damage without it being obvious. Overall, he was a top notch villain that kept me on my toes.

I think the ending of this book was everything that I needed it to be. Cassarah and her men deserved a happy ending after all the nonstop betrayals and problems they continued to come across while still trying to stop the Lost King. However, I would love to see a spin off or even an epilogue showing the changes and progress that Cassarah and the surrounding kingdoms made to reinvent the world and bring humans and dragons together again.

This is it. The Final Battle is the conclusion to the Mercenary Queen series and it was freaking epic. A culture, once on the brink of extinction making a comeback, alliances are forged, plans are being concocted, mind control, dragons, spies, and dark magic. It all comes down to this, the final battle.

Cassarah "Cass" has come a long way from an abused noble lady. She is now a strong queen with people that love her and a kingdom that supports her. Cass has the biggest heart, she cares about everyone equally, is all about doing the right thing, and is stubborn enough to fight for a better future and she's determined enough to do it. The only thing that's bigger than her heart is her brain. I love that Cassarah is highly intelligent putting together clues and trapping enemies with ease.

A lot happened in this book and Cass struggled emotionally, it's a good thing that her guys had her back. Cass has grown a relationship with all of the guys and it's never more apparent than how much they love her in this book. Their overprotectiveness of her was wild but the passion even Wilder. Each guy loves and respects Cassarah with every fiber of his being. A few of them had a couple of past issues to work through but they made it and it's even clearer that they all have bonded as a family.

The story was complex, bringing in clues from the previous books to make an elaborate plot that was entertaining with strong personalities, new magic, and a lot of politics. What drew me into this story were the incredible characters but there were also a few plot twists that kept the story going not to mention They'rewith the threat of war, danger was lurking everywhere which all made for a great read.

The Final Battle had everything I could have asked for in the conclusion of Cassarah's story. Not only was the final battle epic Cass and the gang got their HEA, and I was ecstatic. Liz is one of my favorite authors so I'm excited to see what new characters readers get to read next.

I've genuinely enjoyed the adventure that this series sent me on. This book was a fantastic ending to a whirlwind of a journey and I'd happily recommend it to anyone looking for something in this genre.

This was definitely a conclusion, the peak of things. I wish that the ending was a little more sporadic throughout the book instead of squished into the last little bit but I understand there were steps that needed to be taken.

The relationships in this book grew, were shaped in a way that felt genuine. I do wish that Zan and Cassarah got a little more of the limelight, simply because he's probably one of my favorite pieces in this series but that's just personal preference. Loved the little internal relationships between her partners that formed, it seemed that this book had them coming together as more a family rather than a random assortment of dude's in the same situation.

Vasin and Cass really touched on my heart this round. He became the friend and mentor she needed when things were getting rough. Though his influence was a little light throughout this book he was needed at special moments for specific influence.

Overall, definitely a great way to end a series. If you're looking for that sense of adventure and a real sort of camaraderie between not only the men in the harem but those who find themselves in the FMC orbit this is definitely the series for that.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This contains spoilers.

This was a slowwww burn series, then in an effort to get a scene with all of her men, they threw the sex in constantly. Maybe having 8 men to keep track of was too much.

They are building towards a final battle, and then all of a sudden....surprise pregnancy... after mentioning SEVERAL times that she was taking something to prevent pregnancy.

In the final battle, the essences of the unborn help? I understand magic is involved, but if she was obsessed with protecting her babies, she sure as heck wouldn't draw power out of them weeks after conception. The whole pregnancy thing almost ruined it and was completely pointless.

Yes, the series had several grammar errors, but the plot moved on. It was almost as though a reverse harem was thrown in to appeal to a wider audience. Maybe keeping only a couple would have left more time for the development. I enjoyed the main plotline, but the romance bit was very forced. Other than Jade and Zan, most of them were not very memorable.

I read the whole series and paid money to do so. Do I regret it? No, because I am constantly looking for new series as I read far too often.

Would I recommend this series ? Nah, but I may mention it if having a discussion about dragon bonding.

It made my weekend pass faster, and I finished the series, so it was not a total fail.

My notes as I read coz I couldn’t seem to keep up with who was who:

Queen Cassarah - Raven Rose Clan
Clan Leaders
Porvan - Wind Fist, father to Payson
Garold - Bronze Reapers, father to Dayton and uncle to May
Xio - Jade Talon, father to Izel
Acton - Hell Hawks, half brother to Jade
Ballard - Raven Rose, married to Helena

Guardians
Izel - calming powers by touch
Jade - dragon Tahir
Zan - dragon Ifra and Ezzu
Dayson
Cole
Abbot
May
Becka
Payson later replaced by Paxton
**Gavin -not a guardian but a consort

The Clans
Ravens-well off
Wind Fist - border of Errit and Norden
Hell Hawks - border with Utros, wild ones
Bronze Reapers - most ruthless
Jade Talon

Others
Sal - librarian
Francis - Sal’s apprentice
Marta - cook, shared he home with the royal crew on arrival in Sheca
Alsten who somehow became Aldred- Sheca military general

There were inconsistencies for example in book 2 Queen Mary was second daughter to the King and Queen of Creisal. Then in book 3, she was now the sister to the Queen of Creisal.
The language bothered me a bit, felt too modern at times for what my brain was associating with the world in the book and how the author was portraying it. Words like chat, cock block

Consummation
Book 3 - Jade then Cole
Book 4 - Abbott, Cole, Paxton and Gavin, Gavin and Zan, Dayson, Izel and Cole

Epic Final Battle

Wow. Absolutely amazing is all I can say for this series. All the stars. A rollercoaster of emotions, amazing characters, an in-depth unique world and our badass FMC and her men.

Cass is everything you want in a FMC, strong, sassy, brave, protective, real with moments of doubt that makes you adore her even more. She’s definitely the star of the show. The guys and of course Vasin are incredible who fit so well with Cass and her story. From where she began at the start being treated like dirt and abused to becoming a queen it has been one heck of a journey for her. Her relationship with the guys and the steam is off the charts and their relationships simply make you swoon. I absolutely love Vasin. My favourite ever. I love the relationship that develops between Cass and Vasin and the guys and how we get to the HEA.

I’m heartbroken that the series has ended but absolutely loved loved loved the journey across the series and the amazing series created. Knowing it was coming to an end was bittersweet but Elizabeth Knight has done this story justice and the final battle is no exception. She is an incredible author and I have not read a series of hers that I haven’t a million percent loved.

So looking forward to devouring more from this wonderful author. If you haven’t read this series of others of Knights you need to. Immediately.

Cassarah (Cass) is left floundering after she's attacked by the Lost King's dragon, and having to deal with not only the damage to her castle, but the close call on her and Vasin's lives. Now that she has had her coronation and recognized as the Dragon Queen, she has become even more powerful than before. The fight with the King will rage, and secrets still left in the dark will come to light in the final battle.

Cass has been one of my absolute favorite FMCs that this author has written. She has come a very long way from the abused noble she once was to the queen she rightfully is. The battles that she has faced since the beginning have continued to become more difficult, and yet she has managed to overcome each one and come out stronger for it.

Of course the steam she has with the guys is perfect, but so are their relationships. Her men treat her right and make you really want your own harem. The only thing I wanted to see more of was Zan. He seemed to take a backseat to everyone else and didn't get his fair share in the spotlight.

I'm so sad to see the series end, but I can't wait to see where the author goes next!

Ok

I will be honest that I started this series right after finishing a series that left me with a book high. Because of that, I'm not sure if I'm being unfair in this review. My biggest issue with this series is that I just didn't really like Cassarah. Sometimes I thought she was improving and maybe things would be better. But I just felt like she was selfish, entitled, and thought she was smarter and knew more than anyone around her. When she wasn't acting like a witch, she acted like a whining baby. The times I thought she was likeable were few and far between. I felt like she was disrespectful to her guys a lot of the time. The story line was ok and was developed just fine. But I just had a hard time finishing the series. I found myself irritated and would put it down. Then I would force myself to read on. Again, the story line is fine. I just didn't like the MC and that made it difficult to care about what was happening.

This book is definitely bittersweet for me because I adore this series and I'm sad to see it come to a close.

Cassarah is so strong and grows so much throughout this series, it's sometimes hard to believe she is the same woman we first met. All of her men are so caring and different in their own ways. I also enjoy the flourishing of Cassarah's relationship with the females in her life - bonded or otherwise.

I have one complaint, and only one, the ending was lacking in Vasin. I wouldve liked very much for Vasin and Cassarah and ::edited for spoiler:: to have a moment of joy but i guess I'll just use my imagination.

There are some series I reread every couple of years and I see this one being added to that list. Its very likely I'll buy the paperbacks and add them to my bookshelves with my other top favorites 🥰

fantastic ending to an amazing series

This is what we have all being patiently (well kinda) waiting for - the Final Battle, the finale of this series. And let me tell you it was well worth the wait!
As all this authors books, this is very well written with such emotion and detail you honestly fall into the world of dragons, politics and war.
Cass is such an amazing FMC, her character has really developed and grown throughout the series. Cass has become a strong and caring queen that her people need. Love her determination, strength and intelligence.
Cass and her men - their love is very evident throughout.
The in-depth and interesting characters in the book, the whole series really pulls you in.
This epic battle has great suspense and twists that had me not being able to put the book down until the very last word.
Overall, I absolutely loved it

This conclusion to Cassarah and her mens story was PERFECTION! Elizabeth Knight gave us exactly what we wanted and never knew we needed. Jammed pack with action, Cassarah and her men prepare for battle. This epic conclusion was full of action, deceit, mystery, loss and most importantly love and hope. All of the strife and sacrifice have finally come to a pinnacle in the battle with the Lost King. But despite everything that has happened, and all of the knocks Cassarah and her men have faced, together they fight for each other, those they love, and the world with hopes for a better future. This conclusion was everything I could have hoped for and more. This truly outstanding story was one I could lose myself in time and time again.

Bravo and 5 HUGE stars!

I'm so sad this series is over, but what an ending this was!!

The Final Battle is book #4 in the Mercenary Queen series. It's a paranormal reverse harem romance.

This series has had my heart since the first book!! This was the perfect ending!

You will be on the edge of your seat the whole time!!! There is so much action, drama, suspense, spice, The Final Battle has it all!!!

Cassarah and her guys have to stop the bad guys, then they can get their happy ending they have been fighting so hard for. I don't even know how to put into words how amazing this book is!! So many secrets revealed, so many twists and turns, it's an EPIC ride!!

Elizabeth Knight will always be a one click author for me and if you haven't read her writing, go do it now!!! You won't regret it!!!

Welp! This is it….the final battle.
I’ve really enjoyed this series and had high hopes for the finale.
This whole journey has been a wild ride from start to finish, with plenty of amazing moments from brilliant characters in this unique world of action and adventure!!

The previously abused, downtrodden noble now sits rightly on her throne as the newly coronated dragon queen ready to battle and I, for one, couldn’t be happier with the way it all goes down.

This book is, as usual, a well written and well thought out story that has plenty of action and steam that keeps me coming back to read Ms Knight’s books again and again!! 5 stars!!

The last book in the Mercenary Queen series. I was pumped for this book. I really enjoyed this series as a whole. This book had a good plotline and a good story.

I only think that the last like 10% was really fast and I just expected more of an actual war/battle with the Lost King. I was like wait that's how he's gonna go out? He really acted like he had some power and she crushed him in like 5 minutes.

I also really wanna know if she has all the babies like does she give all 8 mean a kid? Cause I'm invested and I wanna know their names.

I took a panty for spice because as always ya know ya girl is a hoe and there was no huge group scene and with RH I NEED that.

Needs an editor

I made it to the end of the series and it was painful. The grammar issues stayed consistent, if nothing else. The author somehow thinks that 'veracious' and 'voracious' mean the same thing, which they very obviously don't... but she was rather fond of misusing the word. There were continuity issues as well, claiming things hadn't happened that did in a previous book, etc. Worst of all, the final battle that we waited for through all 4 books..... was over in second. The whole last half of the book was utterly predictable and lacking. I'm adding this author to my "Never Again" list.

This book was amazing! It had all the feels with the edge of your seat feel wanting to know what was going to happen next. It even made me cry a few times it was so dang good! The bonding that Cassarah got to do with her men was well done and I love that this series makes you feel like your apart of the book in a way. You actually feel like you are going through what they are! Highly recommend this series! Elizabeth Knight has truly out done herself with this entire series and I was addicted from the very first book to the amazing ending to this final book!

I can’t believe that this series is over 😭 im going to miss these characters so much! It is amazing how much these characters have changed from the first book to this one, they have matured and figured out their roles in this new world that they are helping create. I am also very glad that Cassarah finally gets to relax and be happy in the end and that all of her guardians and consorts are teaching her she does not have to do everything on her own. I totally recommend picking this up if you are looking for an amazing fantasy series!!!

OMG!! This was really a fantastic series to read! I am kind of sad that it is over. However, I do get the HEA that I was hoping for! I also got more sexy scenes from Casarah! This book was so much passionate and romantic, I loved her growth and confidence throughout this series. The only downside was the final battle, it wasn’t big or heart bounding. It was kinda of anticlimactic.

I loved the dialogue, strategic mind, and passion from Casarah and the guys. Lots of growth and everyone coming together as a family. Casarah gets pregnant with twins!!

I just loved this series!

Harem: Cole, Abbott, Dayson, Jade, Izel, Zan, Gavin and Paxton.

Sexiness: 6 out 5 🔥

The final battle is the final book in this epic series. Yet another ending in an amazing series. As with series reading in order is a requirement. You'll be amazed by Cass and her growth through the series from a broken noble woman to the queen she is here. She is smart, beautiful and very kind. The guys are fiercely protective and are so good with Cass it is so nice to see. The bonds she has here and how much she needs them to comfort her. Thank you for writing an awesome conclusion!

Just WOW!! Full blown emotional rollercoaster ride throughout the series. I about died from the cliffy in forgotten throne but was pleasantly surprised with the into the charter one. It is hard to believe that a meek abused girl has grown into an epic leader. The growth Cass has shown throughout the series is truly remarkable. I love that she has had Vasin and her men to help her through all of the challenges she has faced. This was full of action, adventure and incredibly smexy times.

This book was incredibly intricate and packed to the brim with action, suspense and lots of love between Cass and her guys. As much as we get into strategizing against the Lost King and the action of the final battle (and events leading up to it), we have a ton of intimate & sweet moments woven in between. Cassarah has changed so much from book 1 and has fully become the Queen she was meant to be. This is an absolute powerhouse of a series and definitely worth owning and rereading!

Book 4 of a series and not to be read as a standalone.

The final battle is the conclusion to the epic high fantasy Mercenary Queen Series. The time has come for Cass to finally face the lost king Henry and she must dig deep pulling on everything she can in order to defeat him and bring change to the kingdoms.

As the final book this is as action packed as I expected, this series has been one of my favourites.

I'm gonna miss all this men and their uniqueness that made me fall in love with them. Cassarah was just perfect for them. Couldn’t have been a more perfect team for a battle than them. Fight for your happily ever after here deserves a huge applause. Action, drama and suspense awaits you but mostly passion, steam and everlasting love."

Yes! Just yes!
I have been impatiently waiting for this finale and it was so worth it!
Cass is the FMC we all need. Love her story and 5ye way she has grown through this series. Unlike some FMCs she doesn't just become a boss babe and forget everything that happened. She has those real moments questioning herself, but because of her new strength she can move beyond them.
The way things come together for the guys is wonderful and I just loved it.
And now I'm off to read them all again.

I'm really sad to see this series ending. It was an honor to watch Cassarah grow into the women she has become honestly. This is one series that I've read where we actually get to experience our FMC grow into her own and I can't tell you just how much of a journey it's been. I will admit the final battle was a little anti-climatic but it fit the series to a T. This will be one of my favorite series to date and if you haven't read it, you need to now!
