Thanks for Asking: Equipping God's people with answers to life's tough questions

Rate this book
Why does God allow suffering? Over my years as a pastor, I've heard some tough questions asked about the Bible and about God. These were hard questions my church congregation had, and these were also difficult questions my congregation heard from people they encountered. They needed answers. Our pastoral team solicited questions from our church family about faith, people, and life. 1 Peter 3:15 became our motivation for the "In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect." This series would prove to be inspired by God. We asked, and many questions came in. Why do bad things happen? What does the Bible say about homosexuality? What does the Bible say about alcohol? Is suicide an unforgivable sin? Our church had so many questions for God, and we knew that others did, too. If you have questions, but are struggling to find the right answers, the second edition of Thanks for Asking is the perfect place to start. This practical, approachable resource will help guide you to find solid, biblical answers to your questions.

Many times, we as Christians are asked questions that sometimes are hard to answer. These often come from unbelievers, but can just as easily come from believers as well since we all wrestle at different points in our faith with questions as we grow in the Lord. One of the most common ones I hear is the infamous "If God is so powerful, or so big, why is there so much suffering in the world". Sometimes, these questions can be very complex to answer, and how you answer may depend on who you are talking to and their attitude toward your beliefs.

Well, Lucid Books Publishing has a book for you! It's Mike Larsen's "Thanks for Asking", which is an excellent book that covers many topics of those sometimes hard to answer questions. The author does a very nice job of breaking down these questions while providing solid Scriptural answers that are very relevant today. He presents them in an easy to understand manner that can help anyone who has struggled when someone asks these sometimes confusing that have blocked people from coming to the Lord.

Some of the topics covered are "why is there suffering in the world", "why do bad things happen", "why are there so many religions" along with topics such as what the Bible has to say about alcohol, dinosaurs, divorce, homosexuality and many more. The author points each one of these questions to the Bible to see what Scripture has to say about it and focuses us back to the Gospel and the importance of it.

This is the first book that I have reviewed from Lucid Books Publishing and Mike Larsen, but from what I have seen in this one, I am very impressed. I would highly recommend this book to any Christian to help them get a better understanding of how we can answer some of these difficult questions that can come up quite often in conversations.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my unbiased review and all opinions are my own.
