meeehh, sorry to say but too much sex, too little story/plot happening...
The H is getting on my nerves with the hot/cold attitude but worst, the line between dominant and abusive is getting thinner by the second! 😐

This was book 2 in the
"Brutal Kings"
series. At the end of book 1 Nikki finds out that Dario is a mob boss and in this book the brutal truths keep on coming. During the day she is his nanny taking care of his son at night she takes care of him and its hot. Nikki thinks that he is the devil but she soon learns who the real devil is. Dario is beginning to have feelings for her. When her father shows up demanding money from Dario she overheard them and she learns that he father sold her to some human traffickers. This was a pretty good read. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Book 2 pick ups from book one: Not a bad story, but there were some things I struggled with. I really like this author and will finish Dario and Nikki's story, but don't appreciate the fact that these novella/books are so short. I am able to get these through KU so no big deal, but certainly wouldn't have paid for each book.
Dario (LV casino owner) purchases Nikki from her father who wanted to sell her to a "sex trafficking ring to offset a gambling debt. Nikki had no idea her father was going to sell her to a sex trafficker until Dario stepped in but finds out later in this book. She's very protective of Sophie, her younger sister.
Dario purchases Nikki to "f......k at will and take care of his six year old son Dani. Dario is ruthless when it comes to sex/kinks using her like nothing more than a paid prostitute while she takes care of Dani during the day. The issue I had was the fact that a trained nurse and basically smart woman immediately submits to Dario and begins to LOVE all the punishment he introduces during sex. I am over submissive MFC'S in this genre that just turn into sex starved women who have no self-respect when it comes to the main male character and the way they are treated in bed. A little push back would have been appreciated with a much deeper "push and pull" between she and Dario instead of her just becoming his "paid prostitute." so quickly. She immediately gets "feelings" for Dario like he is some hero and can't wait until they are at it again.
Too much sex in such a short book and too much emphasis on sex and not the overall plot.

Dario saves Nikki Love
Nikki would never think that her father would sell her for a gambling debt. He is a scumbag. She meets Dario when he saves her from being molested by the scumbag her father sold her for his debt. He takes her to his penthouse to clean her up but also has sex with her.
Nikki is a nurse in the pediatric dept. She helps out the afternoon that Dario's son, Dani, is brought in for a head injury. He got in a fight at school with a bully. He is surprised to see her there as a nurse.
He hires her to work in his casino, and then the man who won her wants her back. Dario saves her again.
He tells her he wants her to move into his home. She is not safe.
She takes care of Dani during the day and has to be available for Dario at night. She can't figure him out.
He can be gentle with his son and so rough while having his way with her.
He never expected to have feelings for her. He doesn't know why he gets possessive and jealous if someone else pays her any attention.
Her father comes to Dario for more money, and he throws him out and tells him to never come back.

Now she heard a conversation between Dario and her dad and realized that Dario saved her. He was not the man her dad sold her, it was the guy that tried to rape her. Now her dad wants more money for her and Dario is not going to allow that. She belongs to him and he craved for her every second. He will not let her go. Can’t wait to read the next book. Really nice story.

This book is full of denial. Dario is doing his best to resist his feelings, but he can barely control himself. He’s fallen for Nikki and he does want to. He wants to use her body and avoid the emotional involvement that he’s feeling.
It seems as if he really wants her to hate him. Nikki simultaneously has feelings for him even though she doesn’t understand why or how she could want someone who treats her with such disregard. She realizes that he’s only using her to get her off. Nikki has never experienced the feelings that Dario brings out in her and she wants it to continue. Nikki is developing feelings for Dario to her dismay. Can’t wait to see what happens next.

I would give it 0 stars if I could. The first book was okay. But the second one she becomes a total doormat just because the sex is good. She lets him treat her like s***. He tells her over and over again you're just property, you're just a good f***and she rolls over and takes it because she likes it rough. OMG! And the women who read this and like it you guys need some help cuz this is not love. It's grooming for an abusive relationship. Have some backbone woman. I know she just found out her dad soldier to a sex trafficker but come on. Won't be reading the rest of the series nor any other book from this author.

I can't stop reading it!
The parts of the book build on eachother, so they will read better when read in order. I am loving the way the bigger story arc is unfolding. The character growth continues with each novella, and it leaves you in a good place to want to continue us reading it. I am hating her father and I'm scared for her sister, I can't wait to find out what happens next!

We’re really getting somewhere in book 2. Nikki’s father is unbelievable and I’m so glad Dario told him where to go. I was back and forth with my feelings for Dario after several encounters with Nikki but the situation with her dad brought him to a good light. I look forward to reading the next book and seeing how things continue to progress.

The books are good but they should have been one book.
The plot is good and their sexual chemistry is great.
