Rate this book
Set in a fictional world, a sci-fi fantasy novel from Ajith Siva.

On his 26th birthday night, Aaron Stitch was unaware of what the universe had to teach him. The next morning, his life was unusual. He hadn’t received any birthday wishes from his office friend, Destiny. His long-term girlfriend, Karu was replaced by an alien named Cara who has Karu’s looks. And her voice. And some of her memories. To top it all, he was fixed to a sudden engagement with the alien while everyone else thinks that was Karu.

What happened that night? Who is this Cara? What mystery is she holding? Where is Karu then? What the universe is trying to teach him?

Many questions are in the air. But Aaron’s mind could process only one thing. It keeps echoing in his head. “It is not my girlfriend.”

The book starts off well with Aaron and his girlfriend Karu (Karuvizhi). She wishes to celebrate his birthday in a wooden cabin that's inside a dense forest. When Aaron insists on going for a walk, Karu was not ok with his idea. Unexpectedly, an alien changed into Karu and gets her form. From there Aaron had too much to handle.

Destiny and Aaron are workmates and form a bonding over their friendship. Aaron was expecting a birthday wish from Destiny too. In the midst of this, he had to deal with an alien and manage both their families.

How far this alien girlfriend of Aaron takes him through his life? Will he get his Karu back? Read this story of Aaron and Karu along with some interesting characters called Cara, Clem and more.

There are some emotional moments, some fun moments, some realising moments of love and some mystery takes place too. Aaron discovers himself through Karu's love and understand how much he loves her and misses her.

Most importantly, the essence of love and friendship are portrayed beautifully. It can be felt through the author's words. I have noticed that the author never forgets to highlight and give importance not only to love but friendship also. I have read his previous work 'Art, Text, Love', in that book also, i was able to feel his friendship.

The language of the book was simple and easy to flow through. The plot was good. The pace was great.

One minor thing i found a less inconvenient was Aaron's family member names and their part were not mentioned clearly. I got a little confused with who is who and how they are related with Aaron. Other than that, its an amazing read for me.

If you have never read science fiction and would like to try, it's a perfect pick to start with this.

A beautiful tale with a punch of sci-fi."

The cover looked promising. The tag line on the cover page "You don't know what life can bring you in a week" caught my attention and the whole story is entwined around this thought.

The story is so subtle yet engaging and the plot twist will take you by surprise. The scenes are detail oriented and are described very well Overall, storytelling is on point.

The lead characters Aaron and Karuvizhi make place in your heart. But that's not all, this book has some more interesting characters, each one bearing a different story.

Be it the bond shared with the family, bond of friendship or importance of someone special in life, the author has given a fair space to every relation. In a nutshell, this book will make you realise the significance of every relation in your life.

Here I'm sharing my favourite quote from this book:
"And when it comes to friends, some friends are like the street lamps while we drive on a highway, they light us and pass us soon. But some friends are very far away and still light up on us. Distance doesn’t matter. They are there for us all the time, like these stars."

Key takeaway:
This book teaches you the value of the relationships you have in the present because - "You don't know what life can bring you in a week".

If you want to read something refreshing with a blend of sci-fi, little action and characters that feel relatable, then 'It is not my girlfriend' should be your next read.

Happy reading :)

Lovedd the story ...

First impression from the title, cover and plot description... It was intriguing in every detail. And the prologue set a detailed scene from characters to the narration. Loved the fact the narration was from Third Person POV completely enabling to see what's going inside of the characters mind.

The character sketch was good.. just wished a little more into Aaron's personal childhood recap, but there was enough scenes to convey the relative info. The plot was perfect with all dimensions of love.

A cool read and just enough Sci-fi Elements which were clear and understandable. The characters were well playes and could picture all the scenes easily. I would really recommend this to those who want to try Sci-fi Read...
