Accidentally in Love #3

The Make Out Artist

Rate this book
From USA TODAY Bestselling Author Sara Ney comes a new series about strong, single girls falling in love: accidentally...

Love finds you when you least expect it.

That’s what my nan always said. Love? I wasn’t looking for it so how will I know when I’ve found it? I’m not romantic like she was—I’m realistic and practical. Quick with my wits and hilarious when I’m in the mood, it’ll take more than a handsome face to win my affection.

Speaking of handsome faces—Elias Cohen is nothing special (no offense); smug, arrogant. Too flirtatious for his own good.

He won't charm me with that crooked smile and dimple in his chin.

When Elias comes knocking on my office door during a house party after I play wingman for a friend, I'm tempted to slam the door in his face.

But I don't.

Because If there's one thing I am, it's curious.

And wouldn’t you know it—Elias needs a favor. Begs for one, actually.

He might not be able to make me swoon, but he does need a wingwoman.

Sara Ney books are usually fun but this one is no fun at all and I am surprised. I needed a light and fun book and this seemed to be a good choice but nope, no fun at all.

Here are the pros and cons of the book...

*********************************************

The characters are very likable.

The hero is really a decent man and the heroine is finally a smart woman who knows her worth. She has self confidence and all.

"I am not a foolish man. I know a good thing when I see it, and I’m not about to pass up an opportunity.”

Is he talking about me?
Am I the good thing he knew when he saw it?

I know I’m a good catch; a great one, actually—we’ve been over this one million times. But for this man to sit across from me and say the words out loud has me speechless. No one has ever validated my own self-worth. I’m always the one validating my own badassery.

***

This hesitant, unsure side of himself surprises me. On the outside, he seems to have it all: confidence, drive, arrogance, and unparalleled motivation to succeed.

But when it comes to me, it seems he doesn’t want to make the wrong move. I’m nothing like an acquisition at work or a contract to win, and he knows it. He knows my standards are high and that I have been in just as many bad relationships as he has. He knows that I am picky and fussy and stubborn because he is too.

*********************************************

The friendship between Elias and Molly is really good. They discover they have similar tastes and similar likes/dislikes. What starts as a weird arrangement, her being his wing woman, turns into a sweet friendship. All is well when they are friends.

The book plummets down when their friendship turns into a real dating relationship. The transition from being friends to lovers is awful. There is no spark in there. No passion. Nothing. They could have stayed as friends as far as I know. It was just like, "Well, let's try real dating and see how it feels like.. and then "Well, it is not bad" kind of ordinary transition from being friends to lovers.

There is no good first kiss, no good first sex... nope. All of them are ordinary or worse...

Nose to nose, I wait. He waits, hands encircling my waist, deliciously heavy and warm. Secure.
I tip my chin a fraction, the barest bit but still enough, so our mouths graze, sending a zing down my spine even though it’s just a fraction of contact.
Eli kisses me.
Presses his lips gently to mine, nothing but touching, bottom lip blessedly full, soft, warm.
Everything is warm.
His hands, my body, his mouth, my lips.
Everything.
Mouths linger; hands wander from my hips to my spine, to my shoulders. Cup my jawline, thumbs brushing my skin.
I raise my hands too, up over his torso, over his chest, settling on his shoulders.
Hands that are slightly shaking for reasons I cannot explain.
Then, our lips separate.

I am sorry but my 18-year old students in my writing class can write a better kissing scene that will make me feel their passion.

*********************************************

The writer seems to have decided not to devote much time and thinking into this book while writing it because as the plot twist, Yuck! It sucked big time.

Also, the book has a lot of editing mistakes. Again, it feels as if it has been written in a rush.

*********************************************

The writing is in dual point of view and it is really mediocre. It doesn't make you feel. As I said earlier, I didn't feel the love between Elias and Molly. I felt that they liked each other as friends but I never felt the spark between them because there was none. The writing of the book doesn't make you feel so I put the blame on the writer. With such good characters this could have been a much better book.

*********************************************

Safe with no cheating.

Short book with 233 pages.

The moment I picked up this book and realized that Molly was the Molly from Hard Love, I knew I was going to love it. Molly's sass is on a whole new level, mostly because she grew up being neighbors with the grumpiest man alive, Tripp Wallace. Tripp is my favorite of Sara's heroes and I am so glad we got a little bit of him and Chandler in this book too!
Eli wants to be a permanent bachelor, after his ex did a number on him, he knows that a family and white picket fences aren't in his future. When Penelope bets him that the right girl will sweep him off his feet when he least expects it, it is game on. He meets Molly and knows she will be his perfect wingwoman. Not in the way of bringing in the ladies, but to keep them away. The women see him, and they see dollar signs and throw themselves at his feet. While that can be fun, he has a bet to win.
His initial meeting with Molly is less than stellar, but Eli doesn't give up. The two of them embark on a quasi friendship that has Eli wondering if finding the love he deserves is worth more than losing a bet.
I LOVED the banter between Eli and Molly, I read this book in one day, of course I did. I couldn't get enough of the two of them and had to make sure they got through all of their demons and insecurities to make it to the HEA.

Once again, Sara Ney has written a story that doesn’t have too much drama for drama’s sake. I love that this whole series is turning out to be that way. We get all the fun banter and steamy moments that we’ve come to expect from this author.

While this one is like the others in how smoothly for the most part that the relationship develops and grows, I did have a moment at the final dark moment where I definitely did not see that coming. But once again I felt the characters dealt with it all very realistically. Both in how they reacted as well as the talking through not only to themselves but to their friends to make decisions. I also loved that the main character in this story was Molly and we know and adore her from when she was the young girl living next door to Tripp Wallace in Hard to Love. It was so much fun seeing her grown up and getting her own HEA, and hearing her call Tripp Mr. Wallace and teasing him about being old.

The ending of this one definitely set up for the next book which comes out in October, and I’m really excited for that one now!

4.5 star Review The Make Out Artist (Accidentally in Love #3) by Sara Ney

The Make Out Artist was a fabulous addition to the Accidentally in Love series. The chemistry between Molly and Elias was intense. I fell hard and fast for these characters, they were easy to relate to and I quickly became invested in the story that Ms. Ney wove.

This book had me laughing out loud, swooning, add id smiling throughout and ticked a number of boxes for me. Neither Molly or Elias were looking for love and yet that’s what they found.

I loved the story line, it was witty and entertaining and fun. The development of their relationship was intense and I liked the fact that they genuinely liked one another as they moved from friends to lovers. Elias has baggage and it was heart warming to watch the walls he built crumble as he got to know Molly.

This is definitely my favourite out of the series. Molly and Elias' story is better than the previous couples IMO. I absolutely loved Molly's character. She's so different from any other girl. I loved that she doesn't give Elias the time of the day. I could read their banter all day long. It is so entertaining. I enjoyed it so much. I loved how their story ends too. Overall, I really enjoyed their story.

Elias and Molly may just be my favourite yet.

I do so love myself a good come to Jesus moment when the guy thinks he's gods gift and the woman brings him down a peg or 20.

Molly sweet, Sassy- ZERO filter Molly who we met in Tripps story as the young girl who constantly have him shit, relationship advice and walked the pooch. She hasn't changed except now she's grown and its even funnier when she throws out blunt truths.
I adored her I don't give a fuck nature. She was easy to please, low maintenance and an around super likable and relatable character.

Elias is a hotshot agent who isn't used to not having all eyes on him. He's harassed by females wherever he goes and he's reached rock bottom when he makes a bet that most definitely bites him in the arse. I loved him though. Yes he's a little cock sure and confident but he also lives the life to back his chat. He's also super sweet and attentive in all the best ways.

These two are hilarious together!!. I died laughing at her shutting him down and his inability to not walk away. They built a great friendship from the foundation up before the tension started to rise and it wasn't the friendly kind. It all felt very real, going at a believable pace where you fall in love with both characters before you fall in love with the idea of their love. They were sweet and funny and when it came to the fun stuff they had chemistry for days. Also... they are so fucking relatable. I laughed hard with them and their antics but I also swooned at the sweet too.

As a whole it truly is a great easy read with a little spice and a whole lot of funny.

I think Molly and Eli were cute together. Took me a minute to figure out who she was, then it was like WHOA! This started with a silly bet, then they were friends that turned to more. And honestly, he was a bigger softie than she was. He just had his heart broken before, so that makes you kind of resistant to the love scene. I was totally here for all the banter, and their cute moments. Plus you gotta love a man who likes to eat out......anyways lol.

I guess I didn't love how Molly handled a problem that was thrown their way, and it all worked out conveniently for her, which is great, but I felt in that moment he deserved someone to be by his side no matter what. It frustrated me, and felt a little like if it wouldn't have gone the way she wanted, she wouldn't be there. But other than that, I loved their book and I really love Eli.

4.5 Stars!

Sara Ney is back with the third standalone in the Accidentally In Love series and yall, wowza. This book and this couple were crazy addicting in moments and so swoony, so much fun in others. I love, love a good enemies to lovers romance and Sara did it just right.

The Make Out Artist gives us Elias and Molly's story and y'all, I couldn't put it down for a single second. Packed to the brims with heart, swoon and so many chuckles and smiles.. these two were quite the pair and dare I say rivaling for one of my favorite couples from Sara.

If you like a book/series that is lighter on the angst and chocked full of heart, heat and humor then this is the PERFECT book/series for you.

I highly recommend this book.

Molly is back and she is getting her own book. Sara brought us back to the Accidently in Love series and is giving us Molly's story. You will certainly remember her from Tripp's book. She was the sassy teenage dog walking neighbor that was filled with loads of dating/life advice for the single grumpy Tripp.
Now she is on our own living with a friend while working a very successful online business. When Poppy decides to have a house party it is the last thing, she wants to do with her Thursday night.
She now has a houseful of strangers, loads of snacks and very little patience for nonsense, loose men and overbearing women. Taking her snacks, she heads to the safety of her office upstairs.
Eli Cohen is a high-profile sports agent. scorned on love and not looking for anything to do with the droves of women that continue to flock to him thinking he is the golden ticket. He needs a wingman, or a relationship wrangler and he may have just spied the perfect candidate.
He watches from across the table as the lovely sassy woman before him takes the bull by the horns and redirects all the unwanted attention from her friends and guests. When she disappears upstairs, he follows.
This couple is funny, snarky, has that underlying smolder and are brutally honest with each other.
Get ready a reappearance of Tripp when he throws these two together no matter how hard Molly tries to keep her distance! Loved this couple and their story!

Universal

Molly's irritated that this girl at the party her roommate and friend Posey is throwing will not leave her alone. For some reason she thinks Molly can introduce her to some guy. A guy she doesn't recognize, doesn't care about, and doesn't want to introduce some rando big-haired chick to. So why is this same guy now bothering her in her office, having the nerve to ask her to...be his wingwoman? What the what?

Eli's tired of vapid women throwing themselves at him. He also has a bet to win, so asking the only woman at this party who captured his interest to be his wingwoman at all the events he attends, seems like a great idea. Only things don't go exactly as he figured they would. She turns him down flat and definitely doesn't express any interest in him, his job, or his clients. Now he's really intrigued. Thank God for Tripp Wallace! A fake girlfriend is just the thing for this man who's not about to be tied down. Until he wants to be. Until Molly leaps into his heart and he doesn't want her to go.

Molly and Eli are my favorite couple of this series so far. Their meet cute is adorable! Their snarky banter, the way Molly is decidedly unimpressed by him, is just so funny and entertaining and only endeared me to both of them even more. She's sassy, tell it like it is, and funny as hell, and even more awesome than she was when I first met her as a teen in Tripp's story, Hard Love. And Eli? Oh God but he's a swoon worthy sweetheart. Not a jerk, not a bossy alphahole, just a guy who'd been badly hurt by love before and didn't want to chance it again. And lest I forget to mention, that ending was verrry intriguing, and now has me very impatient for Posey and and her mysterious man's story, The Secret Roommate.

Quirky and surprisingly uplifting
5 stars

I have very much enjoyed all Ney’s Accidentally in Love series, of which this is the third book. We do get crossover from the hero from the last book (The Mrs. Degree) and our hero from this book, Eli, appeared as a side character in both previous books. So you’re all good to jump in with this book even if you’ve never read any others from the series or Sara Ney at all. And it comes complete with its very own HEA. Oh, and fans of Ney will also notice cameos from Tripp and Chandler from Hard Love.

We dive right into the action by meeting our heroine - Molly. And oh boy is she grumpy! She’s a little sarcastic, caustic, take-no-prisoners and give-no-fucks kind of girl. I loved her from the get-go. She was so honestly herself that I wanted to cheer her all the way. She did have a good heart, was funny, sweet and honest - perhaps a little too honest on occasion. I can see why some may not be fully on board with her - but as I said, I fell hard.

Eli was the kind of hero that I always forget that I love. He’s definitely got elements of alpha - he’s a hot, funny, eligible bachelor with famous connections up the wazoo and tons of money. But he’s also an absolute sweetheart. He wears his heart on his sleeve and, like Molly, is honest, sweet, funny and absolutely perfect for her.

If they are great individually, Molly and Eli are even better as a couple. I love their easy-going banter / flirting and the way they just click together. It’s definitely a friends to lovers vibe going on - but also like they were engaging in the world’s longest foreplay. I got those delicious, giddy little stomach butterflies when reading and even just thinking about this book. But don’t think this means that it’s all about friendly encounters. Once they get going - it’s hawt! And plus points to Sara Ney for writing the first public bathroom scene that I’ve ever found remotely sexy!

This was the kind of book that I was surprised to find myself at 70% as I felt I’d only just got started. I just flew through it and enjoyed every page. There’s something about Sara Ney’s writing style that is so unique and fresh - yet she always manages to make me believe in love again. That falling in love with someone who knows falls in love with every part of you is completely possible. And that, coupled with a happily ever after, is everything I’m looking for in a romance book.

Oh and we get a snippet of the next in the series, The Secret Roommate, wrapped up in with the epilogue (yay, epilogue!) and I’m already excited for that book, too. This is turning into an excellent series for me and if you’ve liked Sara Ney’s writing style and quirky voice before, I’m sure that you’ll enjoy this one, too. 5 stars all round!

Overall Grade: 3.5 ⭐️

Tropes: Friends to Lovers, Afraid to commit, Fake relationship/wing-woman, Never marry

Sara Ney’s The Make Out Artist continues her Accidentally in Love series, focusing on main characters who tend to fall into love while trying to stay away from it. This is definitely the case for Elias and Molly in this Ney’s newest offering. Eli and Molly meet at a small get-together at Molly’s house. Not keen on a weekday party, Molly hides away to complete some work. She is interrupted by Elias/Eli who was brought to the party by his sister. When a woman at the party tries to hit on him, he decides to hide upstairs when he encounters Molly. He likes that she is forthright and doesn’t suffer fools. When she tries to get him to leave her alone, he decides he wants her to act as his wing woman, a protection against women who are trying to get him to ask them on dates. At first, Molly has no interest, but when her old friend, Tripp Wallace, invites them both to a function as each other’s dates, she relents. As Molly and Eli spend more time together, they realize they are more alike than different, and their situationship moves into a relationship. When Eli’s ex threatens their newfound happiness, you wonder if a happy ending is in the “cards” for this couple.

I appreciate a series that focuses on accidental love pairings, and they’ve been fairly interesting reads, but Ney’s stories, quite frankly, feel just a bit messy. Did I like Elias and Molly? Yes, for the most part. Quite honestly, I didn’t believe their chemistry until it became physical. Even then, I don’t entirely believe that they fell hard for each other in love. And I want to believe them, but for much of the story, Eli seems more attracted to Molly than Molly is attracted to Eli. Then, all of a sudden, she likes and then suddenly loves him. For me, there is a consistency issue in her character development.

Secondly, the eventual issue with Elias’s ex- feels like an add-on, a way to add drama to the story. It doesn’t seem organically integrated or developed. It creates a “hiccup” for Elias and Molly’s future, which seems unnecessary to the story. There would have been other ways to create the tension such as the demands of Eli’s job within the context of a relationship. I would have loved to see more of this built into the story.

Lastly, I love Molly. She saved Tripp in his romance, and I’m not sure that Ney did her justice here. Some moments are cute between these two, but Molly, with the fire of her former book, was missing that fire in her own story.

I have to be real here. I struggled with The Make Out Artist. I’m a fast reader, and this was a bit of a slug in reading because I didn’t feel Elias and Molly’s spark until the end. It may be me and my reading interests, so if you love yourself some Sara Ney, then you may want to grab this one.

5 The Perfect Wingwoman Stars!!

There is nothing that I didn’t love about this book! Molly and Eli are two people that you wouldn’t think would go together, but they’re actually perfect for each other. In this story we have a totally different take on what a “wingman” or in this case a “wingwoman” is supposed to do and this sets up so many moments of witty banter and swoony moments. I loved how these two meet; which is the beginning of a relationship neither were looking for… it’s the exact opposite actually.

Eli is a very well known sports agent and is constantly having women come on to him and it kind of reaches a crescendo when he overhears Molly in a conversation at her house at a party she didn’t want to attend, when he comes up with his brilliant plan for Molly to go to events with him to stave off the female admirers… now he just needs to convince her to go along with the plan… like I said, so many moments of laughing out loud thanks to Molly’s sassiness!

Along the way to them discovering they have more in common than either thought, there are some moments of soul crushing revelations that allowed each of them to see each other in a different light which I think is one of the biggest catalysis for them to go from friends to lovers. There are some definite swoon-worthy moments too that gave me hope that love would prevail.

This is a fabulous addition to this series as not only did I get to fall in love with a new book couple, but we saw some previous couples and the lead in to a new couple… I’m so excited for whatever Ms. Ney has planned for us and this world!

I absolutely love Molly in this book. This is a woman who holds nothing back… is free with her opinion and isn’t afraid to say what’s on her mind. Elias is a character that you want to love, but I had a hard time with. He was a little flat for me. Not that he doesn’t show growth and change, but there just was something about his character arc that I didn’t love.

That being said… I really enjoyed this story and the two of them together. They created a friendship first, and their relationship develops naturally. And in such a way that they are both a little caught off guard by it. They were never expecting the connection that they created.

This is a fun low angst read that show how much one relationship misstep can change the trajectory of your life. Eli has let his past lead his decisions even though he can see how much that relationship wasn’t right. There is a moment in the book that happens that I dislike how Eli handles it so much, I thought Molly did what she needed to do, but he missteps. But then the incident kind of falls to the wayside. It was a huge moment for them as a couple, and I felt it wasn’t resolved well. That being said, I really enjoyed this book, and you should definitely give this a read.

When sports agent Elias Cohen meets Molly Summervale at a party and she perfectly shuts down a woman seeking an introduction to him, he realizes that she might just be the perfect person to help him win a bet with his client Jack's girlfriend Penelope. Eli's convinced that he'll never settle down, whereas Penelope is sure that love is right around the corner for him. The stakes are high, and Eli will do whatever it takes to win, even if that means persuading a reluctant Molly to help him. He just has to avoid falling in love with Molly in the process...

I very much enjoyed this super cute, funny, and sweet story, which featured endearing, relatable protagonists and hilarious banter. Neither Molly nor Eli was looking for a relationship, but they quickly bonded over their mutual workaholic tendencies and formed a genuine friendship on the way to falling in love. They fought their feelings because of trust issues from past romantic entanglements, but their fears were understandable and I appreciated that they didn't try to hide them from each other.

I highly recommend "The Make Out Artist" for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans and look forward to the next book in the series.

The Make Out Artist is the third book in the Accidentally in Love series from Sara Ney, and it's a series that continues to be rather entertaining. This is Molly Summervale (remember her from Hard Luck?!) and Elias Cohen's story, and these two most certainly had the best banter so far in the series. I loved the fact that Molly wasn't this overly perky, easily charmed type of woman, and she definitely gave Eli a run for his money. As for Eli, he truly was someone who had a good heart and was an all-around good guy. Their first meeting was memorable, and I liked that they may have intended to do the whole fake relationship thing but actually did become friends before the "more" part came along. This was an easygoing romance with just a pinch of angst and an overall fab read. 4.5 stars!

Molly ruined this for me

This was a solid 4-4.5 read until about 80%. Their first s3x scene was from Molly the h's POV and Idk if the author thought she was being funny but she came off as a selfish judgmental brat and it was not attractive. Then came some drama after with Eli's (the H) ex...who cheated on him. I didn't like how the h handled that at all. She left him blowing in the breeze and came off as a self absorbed b*tch IMO. Then she admitted she was being a cr@ppy friend and still didn't reach out to him. I understood her being hesitant at continuing the relationship until the truth came out but d@mn the H did absolutely nothing wrong and she had no reason to ghost him and be mad. For claiming they had become such good friends she sure didn't show it. I actually felt bad for the H because he was a great guy. So ya 3 stars the h ruined this book for me

This is the perfect addition to the Accidentally in Love Series and it’s a read that left me smiling like a Cheshire Cat. This is Molly and Elias entertaining, intense journey.
A couple not looking for love or a relationship find themselves moving out of the friend zone and into the lovers zone but once lines are crossed there is no going back so will the future be rosy or will crossing the line ruin the friendship forever…..one click to find out.
This book ticked all my boxes, I swooned and I sighed at sizzling chemistry , I smiled and I laughed at the witty banter, I fell hard and fast for this couple but what took this book to another level was watching Molly break through the walls that surrounded Elias. A wonderful, fun, entertaining read to escape with.

The Make Out Artist by Sara Ney is part of the Accidently in Love series and I loved how Elias and Molly came to be together. As they spend time together, they realize how much they connect and I just loved their witty banter. I loved Molly’s straightforwardness and sass and she was just amazing. Eli was charming and not looking for love. He is used to woman fawning all over him and believes Molly can help him. It was so much fun reading how these two become friends which leads to so much more and seeing some old friends. This was a fun, charming and slow-burning romance.

Happy reading!

As soon as I started this book, I saw the name Molly and stopped. There is a Molly in another of Sara's books (Hard Love). She was the young teenage girl that lived next door to Tripp Wallace. I absolutely ADORED this character and hoped Sara would one day write her book. Imagine my surprise when its the same Molly. All grown up. She's 30 years old now! Not sure how I feel about that. I was hoping for Molly in college or recent graduate when we finally got her story.

Now the hero, Eli. I didn't really remember him from the last book. Not the guy I would have selected for Molly. He was ok eventually. But can't say I loved the guy.

We get a short cameo from Tripp and Chandler. That was nice.

I enjoyed the book, just disappointed in the route Sara decided to go with Molly. And her career.

Having read The Player Hater and The Mrs. Degree i couldn't wait for more! I've been looking so forward to this third installment ever since i found out about it! I picked it up as soon as i could and got right back into the Accidentally In Love world. I so enjoyed this story!

Molly and Elias's journey captured my attention right from the get go! These two are brought into each other's lives in quite the memorable way at a party. When Elias asks Molly to be his wingwoman, i couldn't wait to see how everything would play out for these two!

I really liked the different way these two were brought together. I found both Molly and Elias to be quite relatable. I was glad that i got to dig deeper with these two. The banter between them was so priceless and had me smiling! I loved the way these two had me feeling so many things all throughout! Their chemistry was so great! Molly was awesome and Elias definitely got into my heart!

It was fun being back in the Accidentally In Love world! I enjoyed what the other characters brought to this installment as well!

With The Make Out Artist, Ms.Ney has created such a good and entertaining read that i didn't want to turn away from! I am really enjoying this series! I can't wait to dive back into this world with the fourth installment, The Secret Roommate! 💗

Wow this book is terrible. The title has absolutely nothing to do w the story…the story is SO stupid, the bet makes absolutely no sense, Eli was terrible and Molly was even worse. The dialogue was trash and so repetitive. Just lazy writing and really bad story telling. Yuck.

This book feels like it was plotted out to have a possible child years in the past (maybe it was changed because of the second book) but it was changed to be in the more recent past part way through writing. I don’t know much about sports but at the beginning of the book it sounded like Keith (I think) had been traded like 6 times but at the end of the book it’s only been like 6-7 months since Laura left Eli. This had me googling how often players can be traded in the NFL, which is something you don’t want as an author.

The whole timeline does not work out. The premise of the book is that Eli needs a wing woman to keep the ladies as bay, because he is so awesome and rich, to win a bet that he won’t settle down. I’m not sure how long of a time period the book takes place over but….

1. Laura cheats on Eli with Keith and gets pregnant, but is still with Eli for some unknown amount of time.
2. Laura and Eli break up and Laura gets engaged to Keith (who has been traded like 6 times).
3. Some indeterminate amount of time later, but less than 7-8 months, Penelope and Jack make a bet with Eli that he will fall in love and settle down (soon? And not again, just that he will do it).
4. Eli meets Molly and has to convince her to be his wing woman (not sure how long after the bet this happened).
6. Eli and Molly fall in love (again not sure how much time passes, I’m thinking like a month?).
7. Laura shows up at Eli’s apartment to tell him he might be the father of her unborn child. (I think the book said she was like 34 weeks.)

So this means that Eli was in love with Laura, got cheated on and broken up with, slept around a lot (at least enough to give Penelope and Jack the impression that he needs to settle down) and met and fell in love with Molly all in the span of 7-8 months. WHAT? I don’t want to come across as friend shaming, but if I had a friend who had their heart ripped out (one of the lines in the book is “who broke you”) less than a year ago I wouldn’t be pressuring them to settle down with someone new.

I think that cleaning up the continuity would make this a lot better. This could literally be done by taking out that Keith was traded 6 times in 7-8 months. I think they just release players from their contracts when they are that bad. There would still be the bet issue, but I think that could also be taken out. It’s the lowest stakes bet ever and Eli has no motivation in the book to win it. I can’t remember one time that he tries to push Molly away to win the bet.

Also, Molly referring to her childhood neighbor as Mr. Watson when he is in his 40s and she is in her 30s really threw me off.

Basically, I spent way to much time trying to figure out time frames and ages to actually get into this book and enjoy it.

And another thing, I know that there needed to be a villain but making Laura a gold digger and Keith an idiot bad football player isn’t really doing it for me. And doesn’t it make Eli look like a bad agent if he was the one who signed Keith in the first place? I mean Keith fired him, not the other way around.

Oh Sarah Ney, I’m sorry you ran out of steam halfway through this one. The sex scene? We could all tell. I know you have better in you because I’ve read your other books and really enjoyed them. There is something about this series that didn’t quite work for me. But this one was the worst by far. It’s still okay, but I won’t pick this one up again.

The Plot: (if you could call it that) Eli makes a bet that never really makes sense. He won’t be in a relationship by a certain time? Enter Molly: the girl he gets to help him keep away the gold diggers. Gold diggers like his ex girlfriend. Boys got some angst about that. Molly is a straight up asshole. She’s surface level and pretty self
centered. But of course they end up in some kinda feels.

This book doesn’t make sense!!! It is so frustrating. Especially the time line explaining Eli’s relationship status. In the beginning of the book it says he hasn’t been in one in TWO years. Then it switches to EIGHT months? There’s a lot of things like that in this book.
Also it needs a better editor and proof reader. Things were definitely spell checked to the wrong word. Like boxers to boxing. Sentences that don’t make sense.

I enjoyed Eli as a character. I wish there was a little bit more about his working but oh well. I liked Molly until the middle of the book and the climax completely pissed me off and made me hate her. Like seriously hate her. I found her incredibly self absorbed, selfish and a complete bitch. Her big “hurt” was that some dude ghosted her after three dates. Three. Then he like rarely and barely kept in touch. Seriously. Poor her.

When they finally have the sex?! It’s so awful it’s funny. Molly literally says she deserves an Oscar for her performance. She’s hoping he gets off quick because she just wants a shower and to sleep. Girlfriend: this is sex when you’re married ten years in and have shit to do in the morning. Not when it’s your first time with a hot dude you’re seriously into. Then later in the book she’s all like “the sex is amazing”. Umm nope. No. Not in this book it isn’t.

I just really want happy with this book. I did read the next book after this which is a new series that spins off is this one. I liked it and I loved the book after. So maybe just forget about this one and read the next one instead. You’re not missing anything that won’t make sense in the future books.

cute but not my favorite by this author

No cliffhanger
Standalone though part of a larger series
Told from both POVs
Not really enemies to lovers romance, more fake girlfriend turned real love

I absolutely love this author and have loved all the books I have read so far but for some reason this one just didn’t do it for me. I liked both characters but the beginning of the book felt like it dragged and then the ending felt rushed.

They did have great banter though but the chemistry felt odd to me. Maybe it’s because Molly always seemed to care more about food and sleeping than anything else. Even in the midst of an O she was talking about what she was gonna eat after lol.

Still a cute book and I’m definitely excited about the next book in the series. I just think she has set the standard so high this one just didn’t meet the mark.

Come darle torto?

This just might be my new favorite book in the series. I finished this in a day! I laughed, I cried, and I swooned. Honestly, Molly is the best part of this story. She is funny, feisty, sarcastic, and unapologetically herself.

Molly and Eli were so cute and dorky together. They completely stole my heart. Their friendship to lovers felt like a natural progression with their banter, jokes and naturally awkward sweet moments. They were both so alike, but in a good way. Because their differences made their relationship stronger.

A little slow burn, but worth it! I couldn’t wait for them to be together. The two of them had me laughing so damn hard multiple times. When the other shoe dropped, booooy did it bring tears to my eyes. I was scared things weren’t going to work out for a second. Luckily, true love won out!

The steam between Molly and Eli was perfect. One thing I love about this series is that the steamy parts are not over exaggerated or ridiculous. They feel so authentic and still satisfying. They mimic real life sexual relationships and emotional connections. The guys are good looking but actually attainable studs. It’s absolutely refreshing!

Mad props SN for taking me though all the feels with this one. Some really great highlights…. FBoys, crazy chicks, spilled drinks, watching planes, terrific first dates, self sabotaging bets, Tripp Wallace and Chandler cameo, crazy women, Derek, and so much more.

Perfect summer read! Definitely grab a copy, you won’t be disappointed!

FAVORITE QUOTES

I let out a low whistle. “Dang, Molly. You don’t f around when it comes to cars, do you?” Hands on her hips, she glares at me. “No. And I don’t f around with fboys either.”

I know I’m a good catch; a great one, actually—we’ve been over this one million times. But for this man to sit across from me and say the words out loud has me speechless. No one has ever validated my own self-worth. I’m always the one validating my own bada$$ery.

As adorable as she is, though I’m sure they make her seem unapproachable when in reality, she’s not. Makes me wonder if she’s ever had anything happen to her that’s created the wall around her.

She looks so good. So beautiful and good and kind. Everything I want… Molly is so good for me. I just hope I can be good for her.

“Because, Molly, only a fool wouldn’t fall in love with you, and the last time I checked? I was a pretty smart man.” “W-What are you saying?” “I’m saying that I love you,” I blurt out.
