As great as further Mirage of Blaze stories are, this one is the one that actually breaks my heart almost every time I read it (and oh, I do re-read it about every year and a half) - just because. It is smaller, because it is kind of a side story, something in-between Mahoroba no ryujin and Hasha no makyou, but Saiai is just the essence of the first third of the cycle (maybe, the first fourth, but I don't divide it into tens of books in my head), and the first true Naoe-centric pieces, uncovering a little bit more to his obsession than Kuwabara would normally give out at this point of the story. Yes, she may not be the best author text-wise, but she is definitely one of the best when it comes to emotions, and obsessions.
