Ka'atari Warriors #3

Droscal: A SciFi Alien Warrior Romance

Rate this book
She was on the fast track to political stardom. Then warring aliens left her carefully nurtured plans for the future in shreds and stranded her with no way home.

Zoranna’s life was lined up perfectly and she knew it would play out exactly as she’d planned. She had scored the job as the Under-Secretary-General’s assistant which opened several doors. She’d cultivated relationships with political power players and cut her teeth with local politics. She was poised to become the next household name. Then the aliens came and shoved her dominoes to the floor. She was resilient and recovered, finding a position in the office of the Ka'atari Chief. Being stranded across the universe was a setback, but one she would overcome. Then her boss sends her on a mission that rocks her plans again, and she has to decide if redefining her vision of the future is worth the love of a criminal.

When Droscal met Anela and learned humans were more apt to rhun with Ka’atari, he dreamed of a mate and family for the first time. He decided to do whatever it took to be introduced to the few remaining single ladies. When the Ka’atari Chief called with a mission only he could complete, he knew exactly the price. As soon as he spotted Zoranna holding court over some of the worst criminals in the galaxy, he was hers to command. As rhun swelled between them, he thought his fate was sealed. But she has other plans, and despises those who break the law. Can he convince her he can be reformed?

Fated mates, action packed, steamy sci-fi romance fun! This is book three in a series. You can jump in anytime (there’s a brief recap of the story so far listed in the contents), but it’s best to start with book one: Kiran. This novella has a guaranteed happily ever after and no cheating.

4 1\2🌟's for Droscal

I found this series on my kindle unlimited and really enjoyed each book in the series I love the animal companions many of the characters have in each of the stories. This 3rd book in the series was a great addition. We ment Droscal in the last book he had a bit of the bad boy ummm alien vibe he's the king of the smugglers. He wants a mate of his own his only stipulation to helping find an important part for a ship the alliance is building is that he meets one of the human woman to see if ruhn or the mating fever will ignite. Zoranna was working her way up the political ladder when all help broke loose and she was rescued off the space station and lost to earth. Now she's slowly finding her place among the warriors and working her self once again up a new political ladder. She doesn't have time for relationships she wants to focus on her career. When she's asked to go on a mission to retrieve a part for the ship that might get her back to Earth she reluctantly agrees when she finds out she'll also have to meet a smuggler to see if she could be a possible match. Each has a traumatic last that weighs heavily on their hearts and guides each decision they make. They'd two proud independent souls must decide if they should let the last rule them or let it go and find passion, love and totally acceptance with each other. Great read. I really enjoy this series and I hope more will be coming In The future! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

Good

Zoranna was a political aide to the Terran Space station when it was destroyed, now as one of the human survivors in Alliance space, she has made a new place for herself.
She is upset when her political ambitions are placed on hold while she goes with the smuggler Droscal to find parts of a Scozid ship that the alliance needs to help save Earth from attack. Knowing there is a potential for her to Rhun with a criminal is not something Zor wants to risk.

This is the third book in the Ka’atari Sci-fi Romance series, and although the main characters are different for each book, the series does build upon the previous books in the series… which means they need to be read in order.
It is told in the third person, but has scenes from both the heroine Zoranna’s point of view, as well as the hero Droscal’s point of view.
It’s an enjoyable romance with a spice rating of 4/5 (descriptive sex scenes) and a small hint of humour. It’s a complete story, with a small book-hook at the end for the next book, not really much of a cliffhanger.
There’s plenty of action, adventure, and some cool space pets, and the sci-fi romance aficionado will love this quick read.

Getter even better - would recommend

This is the 3rd in the series so far. I’ve like them all but bk 2 was my favourite so far.

Having said that I really quite liked this too. I’ve enjoyed the strong female leads and the men who are not afraid of that and how they admire the women in their lives.

I’ve enjoyed the world building and the universe (future) that they inhabit. The characters are likable and they have their own weaknesses that makes them not perfect but real.

Liked how there’s no huge stand over tactics and she’s supposed to love him because he’s ugg ugg strong handsome man! Even though it’s a ‘fated’ love match the love is just as, if not more important to the storyline.

They are not hard reads and you don’t need to be Einstein to read them but they are an enjoyable read that leaves you wanting the next one. I hope there is a next one?

I also hope Mouse gets lots of treats by my calculations I reckon you owe him 3! :)

An enjoyable sci-fi romance.

This fun sci-fi romance had plenty of action and adventure elements that made the pacing quick and reading it fly by. The heroine was flawed and deeply sympathetic, and the hero was a charming rogue with a sweet side. The world building was vivid, with the alien world the Scovid ship crashed on and the outlaw hideout coming to life for this reader. The romance was sweet, with a heat level of three chili peppers. There was low angst and high stakes, which tends to be one of my preferred narrative structures for a romance novel. This was a wonderful book to read tucked up in bed before I went to sleep.

Not Fully Developed

The story ending was rushed and abrupt. This could have been a great story but I’m getting tired of the insta porn. What ever happened to a slow burn and some serious chemistry between the two characters? Nope! Authors in this genre all seem to have to go for the fated mates trope. Pick something different and create a real story not some biological induced hard on and wet panties. Overall, the dialogue was decent and there was plenty of action to keep you reading. Decent for only 100 pages.

A very good book, and a good series.

I like this series of book, and this third book it very well written. I have liked the FML, they have been resilient, loving and have worked hard to find their places in the new lives. The ML are caring, protective and happily support their mates. I have find delight in the FML finding themselves pet owner to some pretty cool pets and protectors. They bring some cute, goofy, and sometimes a ferocious protectiveness. I am enjoying this series and look forward to more reading.

Droscal and Zoranna’s story was sweet

This story was fast paced and fun. Zoranna is sent on a mission to help a smuggler retrieve a few power cells. It’s a dangerous mission, but Zoranna is trying to advance her career. The smuggler Droscol was a human female since her heard about their compatibility. These two are funny. It’s light reading but their are some battles with enemies. Read On!

Not everything is as it appears.

Droscal continues a 5 star edge of seat series. My main complaint revolves around the fact that this is the last book available as of May 2021.. True each story is complete in itself BUT I am sure there is a lot more Ms. Kelly can write to complete her main background story/plot. Hopefully at least 4 or 5 more . Totally enthralling, fast paced, beliveable characters, interesting "pets", and easily addictive. I hope you give them a shot .

Good vs evil

This story is about a woman who has big political aspirations. When she finds herself on an alien ship in another galaxy, she pivots and changes to alien politics. When she is sent to another planet she meets a criminal mastermind. Her attraction to him is unfortunate because she cannot compromise her values to be with him. Well worth reading.

Twists and turns

Novellas are fun. They give a short story full od twists and turns. What appears to be is not necessarily so. Kenzie Kelly does this in an alien enviroment with ease.

Delightful.

I enjoyed the puppies, the quick pacing, and that they support each others vulnerability.

I wish it had a different ending (like her becoming a leader and mediator on that planet) but how it works out is good too.

Great book

Why Amazon insist on 20 words for a review via kindle, I don't know. Especially when I just want to say that I really enjoyed this book.

Droscal

Zoranna is an incredible character who is a natural mediator across species. When her Ka'atari boss talks her into a mission with a known criminal she is not pleased .

The Politician and The Smuggler

This is the third book in the series and though it deals with a specific couple, there is a story arc that makes sense only if the books are read in order.

We met Droscal in the previous book in the series. He is the ruler of a smuggler’s haven, outside Alliance territory. For a smuggler, he’s an OK guy. He’s a big scary warrior alien, but instead of ruling by blood, which is what everyone expects, he’s excellent at negotiation.

Zoranna is a politician. She was an aide on the UN Space Station when it was attacked and when the human women were rescued she opted to stay on the planet which housed the ruling body of the Alliance. She has been working as an aide to the Warrior Chief, who really doesn’t want to be a politician but is kind of stuck with the role. Zoranna is his perfect assistant because she loves the politics side of things and covers for him a LOT.

When the Alliance needs something from Droscal, his payment is to meet the non-mated human women to find out if any of them are his rhun, or a woman he can mate with. They send Zoranna to be his ‘liaison’ and of course they are rhun, even if Droscal is the very thing Zoranna abhors the most, a criminal.

I really enjoyed this book. The storyline fits nicely as a follow on from the previous two and it makes you want to find out what happens next, which was a problem because book 4 isn’t out yet, but it is obviously set up for that book to follow. There is, however, a HEA for this couple.

On the face of it, this couple shouldn’t work because Zoranna really is quite vehement about being mated to someone like Droscal and how it will affect her career, something very important to her. However, they have more in common than she thinks.

As in previous books, the warrior is sweetly protective and there is a cute pet alert. There is heat between the two and though Zoranna overcame her initial reluctance a little too quickly for my liking, the book is only novella length, so it’s understandable.

This is an enjoyable bite-sized book, with an interesting and entertaining plot and an amount of chemistry that isn’t the only thing that’s important but is still central to the book.
