Y sí, has leído bien, he dicho dildos.

MM Romance
Merman Smut
4 Stars ⭐️

A To Z Book Title Challenge: E This book has been in my KU library for over 6 months. 😂

Escaping The Merman is this author’s debut book and their author bio says they are a MM reader who started writing the romance stories they wanted to read but couldn’t find. I had no idea this was a debut until after I finished it so job well done! As for writing the books they want to read, I am here for it because while I’ve read a lot of MM tentacle, kraken, octopus shifter books, I very rarely see merman. 🧜‍♂️

This is basically merman smut with a tiny bit of plot sprinkled in for the love story and it was fucking hot. 🥵 I have read a ton of smut this year but this one was just kinky fuckery every way there could be. It was also a bit like the little mermaid in parts but the smutty, sexy, dirty version. This book was something else like sex scenes that go on for a few chapters and yet I had no idea this book was over 300 pages. It read so fast and furious like I can’t even go into too much detail how hot this book is because it will be TMI. I’m writing this review how I talk out loud because I’ve lost my brain cells due to all the fucking. However, it’s a love story at its heart despite all the smutty smut. Oh and I should probably mention it takes place in the 1700’s and while I used to hate reading anything with a historical setting, I have read a lot this year that have been great so I dont know why I was so closed minded before. 🤷🏻‍♀️

If you are looking for a smutty good time, this is it. Also, surprisingly, there were some other characters present and they all have books now. I’m going to keep this series in mind when I’m in the mood for kinky goodness. 😂 Oh what was that? I have letter H coming up and book two is called Hunting The Merman? 🤭😂

“I wish I had something to read to you. Homer’s Odyssey would be perfect.”
“How so?”
“Odysseus is a man sailing home after a long war, and his ship passes the land of the sirens, whose enchanted song had been the death of many. He orders his men to stuff their ears with wax and tie him to the mast so he can hear the sirens’ song but won’t jump into the water and die.”
“I’d love for you to read me that,” Arian said. “Although, it does sound like this story makes mermen look bad.”
“You did lure me in with your song.”
“Yet you are alive.”
And he was having a good time.

It always feels good when you want to try new things out of your comfort zone and it works out. I’ve been wanting to read something different from the tropes/genres I usually read. I picked this ARC because I've never read about mermen before. Now I need to know more about this subgenre. Needless to say that I don't have a point of comparison but, after this book, I'm looking forward to changing that in the future.

description

The blurb didn’t lie about the amount of steam. And I have to confess that the chapters where we could see “bossy” Fernando were my favourites. Though Arian, with his merman tricks, wasn't far behind. So, if you don't like plots with lots of hot moments or aren't in the mood for it, this book isn't for you.

description

The only thing that I didn't like was the insta-love, which by now can be declared my enemy number one. Although, it didn’t bother me as much as it usually does. Maybe because of all the fantasy around the story and the chemistry between the MCs. Their feelings felt genuine but I’d have loved to see more resistance from Fernando’s part.

description

I’m really hoping for Kristian to have his own book. He didn’t appear much throughout this book, but it was enough for me to know he’s going to be the kind of MC I like to read about: moody and in denial. I can already feel the angst from miles away.

The perfect read if you want a fast-paced story full of steam (beware that there are some dubcon situations). Can’t wait for the next installment!!

Ok, first of all, let me catch my breath!!

This was a fun, well written, erotic romance that I didn't expect to enjoy as much as I did!!
Fernando is a wealthy sailor and fate drags his ship and the crew toward the mermen island where he meets the beautiful Arian, a cursed merman with golden hair and a fishtail shimmering with blue scales. (and a few magic tricks up his non-existing sleeves!)
It’s either the love at first sight or the magical didlo, either way these two fell for each other pretty hard, pretty fast. They are made for each other even though they must fight against the limitations of the merman’s anatomy and the curse that prevents these creatures from having an orgasm. As it turns out, it’s not a big deal as long as they find a skilful lover and oh what a lover Fernando is!

It was a vey hot and steamy read with a decent fantasy world-building. I liked the story and I even came.. err I mean cried a little over that beautiful ending…

Terrible 🤣

I wasn't going to write a review for this book. Not because it wasn't good..on the contrary. This book is easily my favourite read for this year so far. Yes it was that amazing. The truth is I wasn't going to write a review because I never expected to be addicted in this way. It was supposed to be a light sexy read for fucks sake. I wasn't supposed to be obsessed like that! Or have my world turn upside down. Like.. I don't read paranormal. Not really. And here I am. Raving about a story with a human and a merman. There. I said it.

A human and a merman. One is a merchant with a ship that travels through the seas and the other one is a man trapped in a body that can't allow him pleasure because of his tail. And you know what? This passionate story of theirs had me on edge. It had me on edge because both of them were willing to give and willing to take but they were not willing to share. They kept to themselves and that made things even more difficult than it already were.

Arian is a merman that has never experienced true pleasure. Not himself. He experiences pleasure through the passion and lust of his partner because...tail. 😒 The only way he can please himself is by luring humans in his cave and then fucking their brains out with his toys, mouth, fingers and more.

Fernando was one of these humans. He and his crew mates heard their melodic song and went to them..the things that followed..my God.. I literally came 💦 🥵

You are not ready for this book. You are not ready for Fernando and Arian. These two are something else. Their time together had me rethinking of what I knew about MM sex. 👀

This thing is literally the hottest thing i have ever read. It is NOT safe to read it outside and if you think I'm exaggerating and you consider trying it when you're not home.. don't! I did. And my face blushed 50 shades of red.

This was actually a good first book for the author, but personally I needed more story/action and less sex. There was SO much sex, too much in my opinion.

As a first book this is really great, there was a lot I enjoyed. Jordan can really write sex scenes. There were a ton, I daresay too many, and they were long too. For me, and this is just my preference, it overwhelmed the story.
I'll admit I skim read from Malik onwards until towards the end which is why I settled on 3 stars. Again, personally I didn't really like the Little Mermaid comparisons that I kept drawing.
It was a satisfying conclusion, not over the top Disney magic and sweetness, but realistic. Arian and Fernando made their situation work for them.
I'd pick up more from this author as the side characters attracted my attention

I very much enjoyed this read! There was some questionable activities with being bound perhaps some dubious consent, but that really did not bother me. I really adored Arian and wanted so much more for him. Fernando wanted everything with Arian after a bit, and I was glad it turned out the way it did in both circumstances. I loved the different aspects regarding Arian's merman anatomy and thought it was very interesting. I will definitely be continuing this series.

ARC provided and this is my honest review.

Thank you to author Aramis Jordan for reaching out to me and gifting me with an ARC of this super steamy and fun story about Mermen. I was surprisingly fascinated with it.

Arian is a merman. He and his friends live on this secluded island where they wait for sailors to pass by so they can lure them in and play with them. Arian and his friends are not dangerous like the legends say. But they do suffer the curse of being constantly aroused with no release. Their only pleasure is giving pleasure to men.

Fernando is a rich, handsome sailor and business man. He and his crew happen upon Arian and his friends while being chased by Pirates. The song of the mermen lure Fernando and some of his crew into their nest. Once he is captured, Fernando does everything to deny his attraction to the beautiful creature. Besides, he's straight. It must be the curse. But when something goes wrong and Fernando is forced to leave Arian after being his sexual captive, his feelings toward this creature can not be denied.

I've never read a MM Fantasy Romance and I'm so glad I stepped into this sub-genre. The world created around this story was fascinating. And I fell in love with the characters right away. I will say that if you are not a fan of lots of hot and steamy sex scenes, then this may not be for you. Otherwise, I highly recommend giving this gem a read.

Now I'm craving more! Hopefully we'll get to meet the other sailors and mermen in this series.

The Most Delightfully Bratty Mermen

Are you game for some adorably, bratty little mermen? I always am and I was thoroughly pleased with what I got in this story. The mermen abduct the sexy sailormen (naughty). Why you ask? Simple. The mermen can’t orgasm. They abduct men to pleasure them and live vicariously through them. It’s really a kind gesture (I thought so). The men don’t seem to mind all that much. There’s some seriously awesome orgasm denial kink going on and I’m just aaaaaaall about it. I enjoyed the hell out of all the mermen mischief. They were actually quite the innocent lot (even though they were doing some not-so-innocent things to the sailors) and I instantly fell in love with them.

But it’s not all (hot) kink.

There’s a sweet, The Little Mermaidesque story here. Arian and Fernando are a magic pairing. I love how Fernando takes care of Arian.

And I don’t know what everyone else thought, but I liked Malik, the sort of “sea-witch” guy. I mean, he was awful at first, but he made me laugh…? Anyway, cool side character.

Aramis has a poetic writing style, weaving gorgeous scenes and romantic moments. I couldn’t put it down and had to read straight through. I highly recommend this story. It’s kinky, adorable and entertaining. A solid five star read for me.

I am a sucker for a merman story and I think this cover is just beautiful!

Fernando and his men are fleeing pirates when they come across a group of mermen - men who are cursed to live as mer and lure men to their deaths. There's also a whole curse element with anatomy below the waist which was a bit different!

He and three other members of his crew are taken by mermen, and Fernando is taken specifically by Arian. I do want to say - the first part of this story reads very much with dub-con, and I do admit that I was a bit hesitant at where this would be going. You don't hear anyone say "no" but it's a definitely grey area at first for all the men.

However, there is also attraction there between Arian and Fernando, and I think that once emotions and that connection started, they had hot chemistry together. You have to overlook the language barrier (how to mermen know human language - and Fernando would probably be speaking Spanish?) and a few other things - but this is merman romance after all LOL

So what I loved most - somewhere in the middle of the story, a different plot takes over and then we get a bit of a historical MM twist on The Little Mermaid! So I LOVE the second half of the story so much. I do felt like the very end, where there is a bit of time passing while Arian and Fernando are separated seemed a bit too skimmed over? And I wish that Fernando had gone immediately to get his man! But I definitely enjoyed the second half of the story.

I'll be very interested in seeing if there are future stories in this series with some of the other men/mermen pairings or what, but this book definitely held my attention and I would totally read more.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

When you think you saw everything when it comes to merman stories, think again because you're wrong! This book is pure gold.

I love it when authors takes the time to create a whole new world with amazing settings and great characters. This story is unique and I enjoyed reading it. I loved every minute of it.

When it comes to historical romances I always bite my tongue and shake my head, they're somehow not my cup of tea, but this! This is the third book with historical settings I loved (so it seems I'm wrong and basically they are really for me?! LOL).

Loved the way how the mermen were in this story. Everyone thought that they are the bad guys who lures the pirates into the water then kills them. Half of it is true, because poor mermen are lonely and horny creatures, they need human contact, so yes, they are luring men into the water. But then comes the twist. And oh, what a twist it was! The biology/anatomy of mermen is mind blowing! Show me one book where they can't orgasm! Show me one book where they don't have the biggest c/cks. My mind was blown away becasue of this. I LOVED it. This was the biggest surprise and my favorite fact in this book.

Fernando (can we take a minute to appreaciate this name? Yes? I love it! I've waited forever to read a book where the MC is called Fernando, so thanks!). So, Fernando and Arian - they were both lovely characters and I loved how they changed. Their love story was cute and hot but not easy. Loved how they struggled and fought for their HEA. It was perfect. Both Fernandon and Arian were strong characters and I loved that they both gave up everything for each other.

And the best? It's a debut novel! WOW! I'm here for more from the author and can't wait to read more in this universe! I want all the HEA to those mermen.

Fun first book in series

I did enjoy this book but I feel like it needs a warning that there is a lot of hot mm sex in it. This is a terrific first book by new author Aramis Jordan and I like the idea of this series. I can’t help feeling like this book is going to get a one star review from someone because “there is too much gay sex in this book”. That would be a great reason for me to read it frankly. The book also goes through some interesting ideas about a man who has been lustily involved with only women before becoming involved with not only a man but a merman. A fun read

The steamiest merman romance I've ever read!

Fernando's seafaring may have started off tame, but all it took was an off-course stop and a merman's voice to completely change the tone of this story. From the second Fernando and Arian locked eyes, I knew something big was about to happen. As a merman cursed with insatiable lust, Arian's only source of pleasure came from worshiping human men, and my god did he work Fernando over in the best way. This author really knows how to write drawn-out lose-your-mind-with-sexual-bliss scenes, and I thought I was going to combust just reading about the intense pleasure these men shared. Were Arian and Fernando's marathon pleasure-fests unrealistic? Maybe a little, but I certainly won't complain about witnessing so much untamed passion. Even better than the hungry way Arian soaked up Fernando's desire was how cleverly Fernando managed to satisfy Arian. Even though these two only knew each other for a couple of days, I really felt the connection they shared, and it was devastating to see them part ways. In true "Little Mermaid" fashion, Arian had to make a deal with the devil to see his lover again, and the price he paid was steep. Though it took Fernando a long time to make up his mind, I was thrilled to see him make an equally difficult sacrifice to keep Arian in his life forever. Their happy ending wasn't what I expected at all, but somehow so fitting for the deep, all-consuming love they shared.

3.5 stars.

This is a unique story. It was entertaining, but it was basically one long sex scene. Yes, there was a bit of a story behind it, but almost every single page was a sex scene or talking about sex.

Don’t get me wrong, they were written quite well, but it was just too much. I'm the last person to be a prude when it comes to sex in books, but you can have too much of a good thing.

There’s also some dubious consent happening, but Arian does make it clear once Fernando’s head is cleared from the ‘siren song’ fog that he can walk away. Things kind of take a weird turn once shackles come into play, but Fernando doesn’t seem to mind. All he cares about is getting off. There was no wanting to walk away for Fernando. He just didn’t want his crewmembers to know how much he was wanting the merman, especially considering he was known as a bit of a ladies man.

I went back and forth on what to rate this book. While I did enjoy it, it was too much of a good thing throughout. I'm rounding it up from 3.5 to 4 for ratings purposes, but this is one of those times when Goodreads REALLY needs half points.

Merman, the darker side

Arian is a merman who lures sailors to himself in order to keep them captive and use their bodies. Merman have been cursed. They don't have any sexual organs and they are in constant state of arousal.

Fernandos ship goes off course and he winds up in Arians arms. Arian and the other mermen each have a sailor of their own to torment and bring pleasure. Arian and Fernando make a connection.

But Fernando gets away and Arian winds up alone again. Then the story begins a retelling of the little mermaid... but more adult.

I felt for poor Arian who was always wanting but never sated. Fernando wanted a relationship but still to travel on a ship. They would fill each other's needs if it were possible. It was a different story. The second part was a bit more entertaining I thought.

I haven't read any merman m/m, but not for lack of interest, so I was really keen to read this!!! It's pretty good for a debut author - there are parts that could be tightened, but overall I enjoyed both the plot and the steamy (rather than traditional) romance.

There is a real lack of consent that some readers may find colours the basis of the relationship between Fernando and Arian, but I wasn't too bothered and the otherworldliness of the sea people was well done. I guess the simple fact is sirens/merpeople traditionally remove the free will of the sailors they capture, so this felt completely rational, rather than unnecessarily dark for the sake of being shocking.

Overall, there was some sections that went on a tiny bit too much, and the characters could have done with some stronger personalities/writing. However, considering this is the first in a series from a new author, I felt it was pretty interesting and I quite liked it.

I will definitely read the next book, and hopefully Jordan gets more confident with this success.

Love this story.

This series has been on my TBR list for a while and I'm so glad I finally had time to read it. The story itself is different from what I usually read. Not because it's MM, I love that genre, but because it's about mermen. However, I was hooked from the first chapter. I had to force myself to stop reading last night at 1am because I knew if I didn't, I would've be up all night, power reading the whole series.

Fernando and Arian story is everything you want in a love story. The first meeting, the denial of feelings, the situation that drives them apart, the idea that brings them together temporarily and the big gesture that finally brings them back to each other.

I really loved this book and can't wait to start the next book.

**ARC Review**

Very Hot and thrilling. To be a debut the author released an entertaining story to leave you wanting more. I was very interested in reading about hot mermen and this didn't disappoint. It was sex filled and at times I wished it was more dialogue between the characters but when there was it was good. Arian and Fernando was nice matchup. Their relationship was a first for both when others (male or female) weren't able to bring out any emotional connection. I enjoyed this and glad its part of the series because there are some interesting characters that I would love for them to have their HEA also.

I read this because of a challenge I'm in. I wasn't a fan. Yes, there was a ton of sex in this. And while I normally don't mind this, I struggled to find a connection between Fernando and Arian. When the I love you's started to fly, I actually rolled my eyes. It just didn't seem to fit the story.

Fernando can't seem to let go of 'he's only attracted to women' and that was getting annoying. Arian, there wasn't a lot of background on so the beginning was rather confusing.

This wasn't for me at all. Maybe it was the Merman aspect, I'm not sure. But I don't think I'll be continuing with this series.

Don't recall how this came to my attention. I've read a decent number of MM mermen stories, the trope just appeals to me for whatever reason. This was fun, although the erotic aspects went a little overboard/haywire for me. Which is saying something, bc I love me some eroticism. But it got a bit bananas and I would’ve liked a more substantive plot. The writing wasn't great and although I'm intrigued by the other couples introduced in this story, I kinda doubt I'll continue.

Better than my expectations! Really hot, right out of the gate.

Arian is a merman who lures sailors to him for personal indulgence. Fernando ends up shipwrecked and into the arms of Arian. Nothing is quite so as simple.

A merman story done right. Definitely different, exciting, intriguing, hot and sexy. A fantastical twist to traditional mermaid stories.
If you love heat, erotica, unique MM characters, and dreams of a happily ever after- this is for you.

Hope to see a complete series from, Aramis!
