“I wish I had something to read to you. Homer’s Odyssey would be perfect.”
“How so?”
“Odysseus is a man sailing home after a long war, and his ship passes the land of the sirens, whose enchanted song had been the death of many. He orders his men to stuff their ears with wax and tie him to the mast so he can hear the sirens’ song but won’t jump into the water and die.”
“I’d love for you to read me that,” Arian said. “Although, it does sound like this story makes mermen look bad.”
“You did lure me in with your song.”
“Yet you are alive.”
And he was having a good time.
